We originally had 2 rooms at the super 8 by Wyndham in phoenix but as soon as we opened up the rooms and there were roaches. Immediately booked our rooms over at the Howard johnson by Wyndham in flagstaff and yes we got there super late but we were still greeted with a smile and after driving 8 hrs from California it was greatly appreciated!!
There was nothing we didn’t like

Our stay overall was satisfactory. Easy check in process and liked the area of Flagstaff a lot. Observatory nearby was really interesting and the town in general had a lot of charm.
Room looked really outdated, AC was really noisy and the room was quite small. Breakfast was a standard US motel breakfast - only limited and bad choices, nothing healthy to select at all. The price of the room did not reflect the room and stay overall in my opinion - expensive.

Easy to locate, friendly staff, lots of food places in walking dead
The air conditioner in our room rattled and made noises all night. The front desk person said don’t touch the dials and leave it where they were. Otherwise it freezes up.. we didn’t touch it and I believe that was what was happening all night ..

The breakfast was advertise as a hot meal. There was toast, plain donut holes, English muffins and muffins. If I hadn't gotten to breakfast at 6am I would not have had anything to eat.
A true breakfast as advertised and enough towels for all three of us.

I liked the hotel window looking out at the nearby mountain, quick access to Route 66, and the HVAC was working. We stayed here as a launch point to the Grand Canyon. It took 90 minutes to get to the Grand Canyon so it satisfied our needs.
I stayed here because they advertised breakfast. When I arrived I was told the breakfast is a “snack breakfast”. I’m not sure snack would be the right word for the 3 tangerines available in the fruit basket, bread, and old cereal. Fortunately there is a breakfast restaurant within walking distance but I’d appreciate a lower price if I’m not gonna actually receive the advertised breakfast. The parking lot is cumbersome to access due to the placement of the hotel at the junction of two streets, I don’t recommend pulling a trailer here. The staff are very clear about how they want the room to look after you leave and they asked me three times if I had a pet, which I didn’t. Cell reception (t-m) was 1 bar and the hotel wifi was not worth using.

Breakfast was o.k. Staff were very helpful. Good location to many local sites. Fridge and microwave worked, bed and pillows were comfortable.
Felt room not as good as online pictures showed. More like an motel. Room overall was 'worn' in appearance. Steps and outer walkway dirty, people spit on them.

it was a pet friendly hotel
I expected the breakfast to be included as it stated in Booking.com. But when I checked in I was informed because of Staffing there would be not breakfast. The heater took all night to get the room up to 70 degrees. We were lucky to have spare blankets in our car (coming from a winter state) we were prepared for the cold Flagstaff was experiencing.

It was nearby and I could walk to a restaurant for dinner. It also had a nice shower, which is what I really wanted! The bed was comfy and the room had a fridge and microwave which was nice.
The wifi didn’t reach my room, I was in a corner room and had to walk down a concrete hallway to reach my room.

When I checked in, internet access was down for the area where the hotel is located. Because of this, the reservation system wasn't working, but the lady up front was making magic happen with pen and paper. And was doing it with a smile.
Great customer service and a ridiculously comfortable bed in a good-sized room.

Despite being centrally located, this is a quiet location. I have visited twice in the past 3 months to visit people locally. The rooms are clean, the beds were comfortable, and there was no overnight road or traffic noise which is very common at many of the other hotels in the area (proximity to I-40).
The parking lot is small and it may be difficult to find parking if the hotel is fully booked and you are arriving late

the rooms are a bit small.
