Staff were helpful and the room was comfortable.
The food was mediocre. The Jefferson Restaurant and Taproom has the best food on the property. Everything else is just so so and not worth the cost in my opinion.

The location of the property was beautiful and the springs were very nice.
I spent over 200 dollars per person on a massages and the spa facilities were not up to par. The steam room was not working and when we went out to the serenity gardens to soak and get a snack the snack bar that was advertised as open was not open and when I asked they said they were short staffed and could not keep it open. This is a holiday weekend kind you and they should have prepared for that. Poor management is to blame. We also waited an hour for our food at the restaurant which we had reservations for. Then during the middle of the night we had a water leak dripping on our heads and had to switch rooms. In the morning I called down to ask to speak to a manager about getting a refund for my room as I didn’t feel like after having to change rooms in the middle of the night was acceptable. I was told the manager would call me back. Didn’t happen. Then when I went down to give the valet my ticket to get my car there was nobody there and when I asked at the front desk they said to just go wait outside for someone. I also asked why the manager didn’t call me and the person at the desk said he was out and just returned and he would call me next on my cell phone. No call. Before I left the hotel I asked one more time about the phone call and she told me he would call. I never got a call so when I got home I called the customer service number for the hotel and the representative got the manager on the phone and he said he never got the message. Again poor management.

Spa area closed including indoor pool. Outdoor pool was oksy
Paid a lot of money for a one night stay to find hotel under refurbishment so a lot of areas closed. We were not told about this when booking.so a disappointment and the credit voucher reviewed could only be used on activities and not food or drink so a real waste for us. Very disappointed

Beautiful property. The welcome team of people from Valet to the desk, to the concierge, to the bellman were just great. Our cocktails and dinner were delicious and relaxing.
Unfortunately, the pool was not open on the day of our stay. We would have enjoyed that.

Room 1103, was perfect, newly updraded and so relaxing,
Main hall music is great.
Jefferson dining was what we wanted
we also went to the jefferson historic pools
Minor issue, was confusion on what dining areas were open and times, I know there is renovations, but this could have been an issue. We understand, renovations make for alot of changes, it will be better after that is complete

room rates did not reflect the overwhelming intrusion of the renovations.

Hotel was very nice but was under construction. People for the most part were nice. The food was good at the one restaurant that was actually open.
We had no clue the entire hotel was under construction. We had a fantastic view of the port-a-johns. All but one of the restaurants was closed. That one was ok but service was a bit slow. The staff was ok. Most were nice but some at front desk and Martha’s were a little uppity. Don’t ask Martha’s for butter. They don’t have any. And it is a valet only property, but they don’t tell you that until you get there. Extra $30 a night. Also nothing for the door to tell housekeeping to skip you for the day. We were sleeping in and got woken up by them (not their fault). Next day woken up by trucks backing up. Maybe they had to use the bathroom (also not their fault). If we had known there was so much construction going on we would have waited to come to get the full experience. Now we won’t be back

There were rooms being remodeled but they are not done and we stayed in the old ones. The chairs in the room had stains. Everything could use a refresh. Several other areas of the hotel were closed off because of the remodeling.
We paid extra to use the hot springs pools. Less than a week after the trip, I looked in the mirror for the first time and saw ringworm growing on left rib area. Drinks and food were expensive.

The room was lovely and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast buffet was lovely. It is a majestic historical destination! Staff couldn’t have been kinder! I will go back many more times! The shuttle driver, Henry was ADORABLE! Thank you Henry.
They were under major renovations, everything was in disarray! They should have notified their booking companies to let them know the condition of the Hotel!

great location, easy to get to town for additional dining options, could mostly stay inside to get around the resort including hotel restaurants, shops, movie theatre, and spa. we spent all our time at the spa, which has mostly wonderful massage therapists (my husband’s was a bit careless/rough, but my deep tissue and hot stone therapists were wonderful), and the natural hot springs pool is really the highlight of the resort.
the room was not very clean, the drinking glass smudged, not enough toilet paper, a bug in the bathroom, mismatched and dirty/stained furniture, do NOT eat in the Dining Room — unpleasant staff and waste of $300 for almost no food — the Jefferson restaurant was much better but prepare for long waits for food. speaking of food: for such a nice resort, the spa cafe should really serve fresh good food, and not the prepackaged airplane fare, which is the only option poolside.

Beautiful historical building and area. Obviously staff takes pride in the location. Free tour was a joy.
Room too hot and could not adjust. Hiking should not cost $40 per person.

Pool area and grounds were well maintained. Indoor areas were not as nicely maintained. Staff was nice.
Food was average but expensive. Cleanliness of some of the public restrooms was poor. Checked in early and did not receive luggage for 4 hours. Clanging of metal against metal during the night and early morning interrupted sleep. Spent over $700 for one night. Could not access wifi.

Location, friendly staff and guest variety of activities , pools
Internet service , restrictions on kids to do zip lining and horse riding. Staff in shops not friendly or welcoming , things were expensive .. especially when everything was short staffed . Also could have more services included in room stay especially when there was a renovation going on.

I had the best room! I was in the South Wing and had one of the garden rooms with French doors that opened to small patio. It was delightful.
I wouldn’t say “didn’t like,” but the lighting in the bedroom part was not very bright. It was cloudy and rainy all weekend so I felt I had to cut on every lamp to really see we’ll.

I will say this ... the resort needed a deep cleaning which yall was doing

The staff was exceptionally kind and courteous. the room was fine. Se more below regarding food and the military discount lost.
Some of the meals were substandard for the price and a place like The Homestead. Most disappointing was the fact that The Homestead, if contacted directly, would have given a 10% military discount on the room amounting to $100-$200. Having accidentally gone thru Bookings.com led to the Homestead not being able to provide that discount and Bookings.com did not make that option available or obvious.

Outdoor pool, Old Course, banquets
The chicken dinner at Jefferson’s was overpriced and the mushrooms and sauce where sickening

Outstanding public spaces such as the hall and lounge and library
There was a lot of construction underway - loud incessant noise in our room from 8 am onwards. Could not work on the beautiful porch as the power outlets did not work, and wifi did not reach. Bathroom plumbing did not drain, and food options were very limited. Overall disappointing for the price.

So many friendly staff, willing to help at every turn! Efficient to cover huge grounds with shuttles.
Every activity is expensive. But to be expected at such a nice resort.

I took my daughter who is a graduating senior for two days. The main objective was to let her experience the spa. When she was younger and we went to the Homestead she always wanted to go to this was a right of passage. It was not that crowded being the first couple days after Mother’s Day and during the first of the week. That was a plus for us as nothing was very crowded. There were some construction going on at the hotel which is expected they are in a major redo but nothing was too disturbing. The spa was wonderful, and the staff was very helpful and friendly. We ate in the Jefferson dining room and the food was excellent. We did not up for the large breakfast in the main dining room the morning that we checked out, but instead ate at the little café which was more than adequate with breakfast sandwiches and coffee. The weather was great the ambience was good and I must say I’ve been to the Homestead multiple times and this is probably my favorite trip ever. It gets a little busy during the holidays and over the summer so this was an excellent time to go. I plan on going this time again next year to avoid the more crowded times. But as always the staff is very professional and courteous and everything just clicked!
! I wish the gym wasn’t so far away. I wanted to go super early in the morning and they could have taken me by shuttle, and it was a little chilly in the morning didn’t feel like making the walk so I blew off the gym. I wish there was a gym in the main part of the hotel. But it’s not the end of the world

The majority of the staff we interacted with were absolutely wonderful-warm, hospitable, and very thoughtful when it came to adding special touches for our celebration (champagne and truffles made my day!) The spa/serenity garden was fantastic, by far the most impressive part of the resort- wayyyy more modern than the rest of the property and with a ton of amenities, and beautiful view. Best part of the stay.
Only one weird staff encounter when it came to being seated for dinner, we were a bit early and the guy made a big deal about not being able to seat us (there were maybe a handful others there on the taproom side and literally no one at the dinner side where the reservation was for). He wasn’t the warmest, but everyone else was amazing. Would have loved to try the other dining options on site but I think they were closed due to being early in the season.
The room was very outdated and run down, the bathroom was not the cleanest. But spending the majority of time doing activities helped. We did call housekeeping multiple times requesting wine glasses for the room which never came, although it wasn’t the biggest deal, we were waiting for awhile.
