This hotel is both unique and characteristic. It’s individuality is it’s attraction
The shower was unusual, but added to the hotel’s charm

Everything. Location, stuff, room, breakfast, afternoon tea.
Only one thing I would suggest to fix is shower. It was not easy to switch faucet mode to shower mode so I took bath instead. It’s typical for old inn, but it would be nice if bathroom was little more updated.

Location and history
Despite the heritage this hotel needs a face lift. We have stayed in some beautiful places and the West End Guest house in the West End of Vancouver is a beautifully restored property that the owners of Pendray should consider.
The Pendray has faded artificial flowers, aging decor, a shower that doesn’t work properly (the bath continued to run) to name but a few, along with a musky smell. The breakfast choices were different, in the style of afternoon tea and came with scones and jam and I chose to just opt for a croissant and fruit (far too much food otherwise).
This place could be an absolute gem if some time and money was spent.

Very classy-style building at great location, beautifully decorated.
The bed was very squeaky with each and every move. Also, I didn’t particularly like that the whole suite was covered with carpet.

Has that 'classic' bed & breakfast atmosphere, feel, to the place. Cozy and charming. Location can't be beat, right next to the heart of Victoria.

A little bit quirky which added to the holiday
Room was great. Location was excellent. Breakfast was unique - tearoom style

Loved the ambience, wonderful staff, beautiful breakfast, great location.
Being on the top floor & climbing all those stairs could be a problem for some but not for us.

what a great location. Breakfast was delicious.

The hotel was in a wonderful original building with lot of character. Loved the room and the tearoom which were just like from a history book. Morning breakfast high tea menu was excellent and a real highlight! The staff was so helpful and friendly throughout our stay. They even hide an easter bunny surprise for our kids. Would love to go stay at this boutique hotel again.
Not anything I can think really.

I am a local to the area and have always been curious about the inside of the mansion. It is very beautifully updated and I loved that I was in one of the beautiful turret rooms. The arrival champagne was a very nice touch.
Front desk staff is part time, supported by another nearby partner hotel. Had to get my luggage down the stairs on my own in the morning which was pretty challenging.

AMAZING building, just perfect and sooo beautiful when it's all lit up at night! Absolutely magical! The included "afternoon tea" kind of breakfast was good, but it's mostly the whole ambiance that is just so perfect, sitting in the sunroom. The man who served me breakfast was very friendly. The little tea cart set up with the fireplace in the entrance was also a nice, very cozy touch. Loved the old, squeaky stairs. My room (Harbour Room) was great, the panoramic view of the harbour was just AMAZING, day and night. I got this room at a pretty reasonable price too, even though I was by myself.
The room was extremely cold I could barely sleep :( The room was clean, but I'm not a fan of carpeted floors because it does attract bugs (I saw a big silver fish on the carpet, one on the bathroom floor and one inside the baththub...) but I did travel in late February when it is probably less busy, and it is an old house after all. There were no trash can liners and it made me feel uncomfortable putting anything in them.

Beautiful room and perfect location.
Breakfast was disappointing. Served like morning tea. Not very tasty.

Amazing free breakfast, great location, comfy bed.
As it is a very old building, the stairs and quite creaky and I was woken up at 6:30 each morning by the sound of people walking up and down. This didn’t bother me, just something to keep in mind! Maybe bring earplugs if you’re a light sleeper.

Very cozy and comfortable! The building felt so rich in history and character, a lot of original fixtures were kept up and all the decor felt very intentional and cared for right down to the curtains in our room. We stayed in the Emily Carr suite and it was so charming and the view out the window was better than we had imagined. The breakfast included appeared to be lacking, as they had included our two choices on only one tiered serving tower - however ! After sharing the entire tower with my partner it was more than enough for the two of us! The tea menu was the perfect size and we'll absolutely be coming back, if not for just the tea and ambiance itself!
Some of the bathroom wallpaper had started to peel slightly from the humidity but it was hardly anything to write home about in comparison to everything else during our stay.

Everything is beyond our expectation! The concierge, Gavin, was super nice and friendly when we checked in. The complimentary breakfast was incredible delicious, and the dinner area also has a nice view for the sunrise. We enjoyed our stay here very much!
