The room location within the Hotel Complex and the Hotel Complex location within the Kona township. The veranda overlooked the beach, and it was an easy walk into Kona for restaurants, pubs and shopping.
The receptionist was not very welcoming and the carparking situation was best in best dressed which is unsuitable. We were blessed that this did not become an issue for us personally though and were lucky to jag a carpark when needed.

We have stayed at the Kona in Islander in Two previous times and really enjoy the location, the staff and the grounds. We love that there is a grill, hot tub and pool.
The room that we stayed in was nice and comfortable and suited our needs for the most part. We love coming there but we do have some suggestions for things that would be helpful for travelers coming such a far distance. At the minimum, a broom and dust pan and would be so helpful in keeping the floors clean and therefore the sheets comfortable for sleeping. Chairs and a couple boogie boards would be fantastic as well.

cost and location were great
never once did we interact with anyone on the property. we arrived in middle of night due to flight delays, couldn’t find any parking. finally found our tiny room.

Location was perfect!
There was no wifi (or at least, there was no information about password) the front desk staff did not know anything as the apartment is privately owned.

across street beach
cable tv didn’t work right. shower door was broken and dangerous to open each time we used it. balcony table top was broken

The location is right at the water in the heart of Kailua-Kona - and our balcony had a view of the ocean. The unit was clean and comfortable and well-decorated. There is parking on-site, and a pool and barbecues available for use.
Be warned - if you arrive at the property prior to your scheduled check in time, there will not be anyone there who knows anything about your reservation, and will not even be able to confirm that you have one! This is a condominium complex, all of the units are rented out by independent entities. They will not answer questions or requests sent to Booking prior to your arrival, and no usable contact information will be printed on your confirmation email - and it is pay in advance! If you try to obtain additional information (such as 'do you have a record of my reservation'), the 'front desk' staff will become openly hostile and mocking. It took me an hour on the line with Booking's customer service in Spain (who were as helpful as they could be), then with multiple property managers, before my reservation was even found, and finally multiple phone calls to the property ultimately ordering the clerk to give me the keys - only for her then to become begrudgingly cooperative and check me in. I do think that Booking should require reservations of this type to be clearly stated as such, and require the property managers to provide transparent contact information to avoid such issues.

View of harbour, facilities, gardens

Room rate was reasonable for the area.
Room was on a very busy street with lots of noisy traffic. Could not use the lanai for this reason.

This property is right across from the ocean on Ali’i Drive. Convenient to almost everything. my unit was ocean view.
Patio door wouldn’t open.

Location and had good air conditioning.
Cramped accommodation. Kitchen smaller than a broom closet.

Good location Center of Kona
lots of restaurants within 100 yds.
Ate at restaurants across the street (oceanfront)
Bed was adequate for sleep after traveling
Room was very small couldn’t turn around in bathroom. Expected more for that price.

The location is right in the middle of the tourist area. Beach across the street. Our balcony looked out on the ocean but most of the units face the pool and garden. The room was large and nicely decorated.
Noisy part of town.

Our room had microwave, mini fridge, coffee pot, basic cooking ware (silverware, plates, knife etc.), kitchen towels, many room towels and beach towels, basic toiletries, good WiFi, snorkeling gear, camping chairs. Basically anything you would want in a home, they have it.
There is a sandy beach right under the apartment building, but sand is pretty coarse, and waves are very rough. Not good for swimming.
The management did have a lot rules, but I didn’t mind them. They are pretty reasonable.
Front desk does not take luggage for stow away, which is unimaginable.
The room is more like a cheap apartment than hotel room. The Ali’s Drive right outside the balcony is very very loud all day (and sometimes all night) long, and the AC unit is very very loud (with a disturbing deep vibration noise). And the weather in Kona is not survivable without AC. Thus it’s impossible to have peace inside.
Everything in the bathroom is designed for very short people. I am 5 feet 4 inches, and the shower head/sink are already way too low for me. If you are taller, might not be able to take a shower.

The location and views are prime.
The room is equipped with everything you need to enjoy your stay.
Friendly service in reception.
The parking space is limited
4.2
The location right in Kona. That is it.
Definitely NOT WORTH THE MONEY. It was not clean - dust on all the fixtures, ants everywhere, dirt on the sheets, dirty floor, the lanai was horrendously dirty, and the shower looked so disgusting we didn’t even use it. There was loud incessant banging very early from construction in the morning; we couldn’t even stay in the room after being woken up. The door and gate are not secure. There was a cleaning lady that walked into our room after we said it was occupied twice! And the welcoming receptionist seemed very angry and let us know there were always partiers staying there who broke the rules and were noisy. It was like staying in a cheap hostel.

rude front desk. I broke into tears because of her bullying

Location
There’s a TV but no instructions on how to watch it. This unit is right above the main drag, so I couldn’t go on the lanai or leave the door open. The air conditioner is so loud I drowns out the street.
