The free breakfast was much better than I would normally find at an inexpensive motel. Large sit-down restaurant area, almost like an old diner, rather than just a few chairs in a lobby like other places. The rooms, even though they were the typical compact street-entrance motel room, were surprisingly clean and well maintained. The bed did NOT feel lumpy as I feared it would, having stayed at many hotels. My 8.0 rating reflects the category this motel is in -- relative to others of the same kind of property.

Some prior customers smoked in our room. But of course that's not the hotel's fault. Some people think the decor is outdated, and it is, but who cares really.

Carpets, electrical outlets, nonfunctional fixtures, and wifi need a significant haul!

Extremely old facility not containing any updates. Clock radio could easily be updates with a new functional unit. Lamp next to bed didn’t work. Rugs were not vacuumed

This was our third stay at West Gate Inn in the past year. Our favorite thing is the location. We can't afford NYC hotel prices and West Gate allows us to drive down from our upstate NY home and sleep less than 40 minutes from midtown so we don’t have to drive 3 hours home. We took advantage of our stay to visit the Hopper House Museum and to meet family for lunch at Horsefeathers in Scarsdale. Along with a museum and a play in Manhattan the day before it comprised a wonderful weekend! I noticed for the first time West Gate’s magnificent plant-filled atrium! Obviously somebody takes pride in the motel. Although we didn't wake up in time for breakfast this time we did appreciate it our first two visits.

Gate Inn could use a thorough cleaning. The carpet is horrible and sticky from years of God-knows what. The best idea would be to replace it. Beyond that, everything in the room needed to be washed down with disinfectant. We were not asked what kind of bed we wanted, and were given 2 small doubles. My husband and I prefer a queen. There were no blankets in the room. When we asked, the desk clerk brought them to us, but after midnight. I know times are hard for everybody but West Gate could use a little attention to detail. However, I don't know if this would bring you more business.

Bed mattress uncomfortable. Bedding is sparse with no extra blankets available. Room did not come with coffee maker. Room is shabby with torn carpet. Light fixtures old. Looks as though it’s been decades since room was upgraded. Drain in bathtub was broken - unable to take bath. Wifi weak with intermittent connection.

Location was good as well as the breakfast

The room smelled like stale cigarettes. The sheets were so stained with what appeared to be lubricant that it seemed as if they were never changed. So gross!
