About this house rental
Right in the middle of a quiet rural village and situated in the lake county, (good fishing area) an hour from Dublin, this is the ideal spot to relax or use as a base to travel from. Golf is big, with 5 golf courses within half an hour travelling distance. The house, once the village bakery, is to the rear of Weirs Bar & Restaurant, our award winning Gastro Pub. Our restaurant open's Wed-Sat 12.30 -8.30pm & Sunday, 12.30-8pm. The house is decorated quite modernly and we will do our best to help you enjoy your holiday.
We have just received a Bridgestone Award 'Best in Ireland 2022' so we are delighted with that.
'While too many bars serve peanuts and Sky Sports, this rural pub does fine food instead' writes TOM DOORLEY - IRISH TIMES
'not serving rare and exquisite dainties, it's serving the sort of food that most of us eat on a daily basis, but it's doing it very well. If we've arrived at a point where wholesome, well-made food can be found in pubs in small villages and towns around the country, then we have a reason to celebrate. IRISH INDEPENDENT

My husband and I couldn't have been happier with this rental. The property was charming and near the excellent restaurant/pub run by the owners. I could enjoy live pub music one night, and the next, my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the delicious meals served to us. Best of all, Pat and Una went above and beyond the duties of hosts. When my car unexpectedly -- and suddenly -- developed problems with its clutch, Una immediately contacted a friend, a mechanic, who was able to repair the car within a day. Meanwhile, she had lent us her own car to enable us to carry out our plans to visit a dear friend in Sligo. They were so friendly and kind! I hope we can return someday and meet them again.

We stayed in Multyfarnham for easy access to Dublin, and found it to be just that. Close enough to be convenient, but far enough out to be a quiet little village, which is much more our speed. Dinner at Weirs was SO GOOD, and it was nice to have it right there. All the staff was very welcoming and helpful, we could feel that they were truly happy to host and take care of all their guests. The house is so roomy and was a great place to land after a day in the city.

We stayed in 6 different VRBO rentals all over Ireland this past month. Of them all, this was the best of all. It was very clean, had an attentive host (managing the lovely restaraunt in front), it was quiet and secluded, the grounds were beautiful...and best of all, the Multifarnham area was astounding. I took a short walk and found the Abbey in town that included a botanical garden with cafe (and tea houses scattered around the grounds), and an amazing park and walking paths around the Abbey. We went to Trim and th Belvedere mansion grounds south of Mulliganar, and spent an easy day in Dublin, all from this location. An easy last drive to the airport from here.

Thank you Una and Pat! We throughly enjoyed our trip to Multyfarnham and surrounding area. The house was perfect, your restaurant was excellent and the information and suggestions you shared on what to see in Ireland was priceless. We will highly recommend your home to all our traveling family and friends.

Owners Una and Patrick "Pat" Weir are the warmest and friendliest hosts we've ever encountered. We arrived from a late flight at 9:00 o'clock and were welcomed immediately by Una as we parked our car in front of Weirs Bar & Restaurant. Even though the kitchen had closed, she handed us menus and made us comfortable while a lovely meal was prepared for us. She then showed us our comfortable accommodations and we quickly felt at home. It was a wonderful week for us as we enjoyed several tours that the Weirs suggested. We’ve just left to visit another part of Ireland and we miss their friendly smiles already!

We loved staying here! Not fancy but has everything you need. Best part about it is Pat and Una Weir- great hosts, incredible food in the pub and the best bunch of “regulars” who hold court in the bar. Great location to go and visit Dublin- close without being in the crazy! We hope to visit again someday!

We stayed her for 3 weeks as it was close to being central in the Republic of Ireland. Wonderful hosts, wonderful meals in the pub, great meeting some of the locals and in a few short days we felt like locals. The accommodation was clean and everything that we needed was at hand. If we ever come to Ireland again we will certainly stay here. Thank you for a wonderful stay. Even the cat came to say hello. Yes a great stay

We had a wonderful time staying at the Weir's property. It is a perfect amount of space, and a lovely place to come home to at the end of the day. We also ate at the owner's restaurant, and the food was amazing! Note: the restaurant and pub are closed (at least currently) Mon-Wed.

Friendly and accommodating hosts, helped us find our way around, and made our Christmas enjoyable. Excellent food at their restaurant next door. Some of the best wings I’ve ever had! Lovely soup and chicken too.

We really enjoyed our stay in Ireland. Una and Pat are wonderful, and made us feel welcome. So did their dog Max and their cat Mr. Black. The house was clean, and had everything we needed to get started. It’s a perfect size for two people. Definitely check out their pub because the food is delicious, especially those wings!! We can not wait to come back.

Excellent hosts, very comfy house + enormous garden, very friendly dog (my daughter's favourite part), perfect location if visiting different locations in Ireland. Nothing is ever too much hassle for the hosts, oven decided to stop working on our 3rd day and it was fixed the following morning. Best pub food ever (home cooked, delicious, great variety). Will definitely consider repeating on our next visit to Ireland!!

We had hoped to experience "the real Ireland" and that goal was achieved. This apartment gave us a great central location for visiting the Midlands and East to Dublin. Pat and Una gave us such a warm welcome - we really felt like part of the family. Additionally, we spent some lovely evenings at Weir's Bar and Restaurant for great food, great drink and, best of all, Irish hospitality.

This comfortable, well equipped property is tucked away behind the main street in the quiet village of Multyfarnham. The central position of the village allows for extensive day trips, including to Dublin, Galway and Sligo as well as being well placed as a base from which to explore central Ireland. The hosts are very helpful and welcoming, there are delicious meals on hand, available at their bar and restaurant and supplies for self catering can easily be obtained from stores in nearby Mullingar. Would thoroughly reccommend it as a place to stay and hope to revisit in the future.

Just back from a four night stay which we enjoyed very much. We were made feel very welcome on arrival. Our host was first class and did everything to make our stay enjoyable. Our house had everything we needed and more. The bed was comfy with crisp white sheets. The weather was lovely and the gardens are full of beautiful plants and shrubs. The restaurant was just next door and the food was amazing.
We hope to get back soon. We would 100% reccomend this beautiful wee spot.

Due to Covid19 this stay was different to all our trips to Ireland before, especially contact to people. Given the circumstances we could not have found a better place.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Weir's cottage in Multyfarnham. The cottage was a perfect home away from home for me! In fact that's how I thought of it!
The cottage was clean, cozy and I wanted for nothing. Max the dog was such a warm welcome at the door in the morning that you couldn't help but smile . The owners Una and Pat were so friendly, helpful and approachable..it felt like we had known each other forever!
The restaurant food was a gastornomical delight!! Amazing!!! Staff and locals were so friendly. Atmosphere, staff and locals ,Friday night music...who ould ask for more!
Una was a wealth of tourist information and I was kept busy with one bit or another. If Una doesn't know, she will know someone who does.
I hate to give a good review because I would like to keep this place my own personal secret but that would be so unfair to others who would miss out on this gem. My next visit will be longer. One week was no where near enough!
Special thanks to Una and Pat for making my 1st trip to Ireland to my last. See you in the spring!

Excellent Accommodation and Location!
This was our first trip to Ireland, and it was fantastic! We were so happy with our accommodations in the beautiful village of Multyfarnham in the Midlands. It gave us a perfect vantage point for exploring! Pat and Una Weir, our hosts, and owners of Weir’s Pub and Restaurant , were very welcoming and helpful, and by the end of our stay, became good friends! Their restaurant is lovely and has excellent food and attentive staff, and the pub is just the experience you imagine when planning a trip to the countryside of Ireland, full of charming folks and good beer! This was a once in a lifetime experience, and we hope to return !

A short adventure
If you are looking for a place to stay where you feel like you staying at an old family friends home, this is your place. When we arrived we where greated by one of the bar employees, she welcomed us with a kind smile and a warm hello. The night we arrived unfortunately the power was out and Una and Pat where out of town. The patrons of the bar gave us suggestions and directions for a place to get supper while we waited for the power to return. Everyone we encountered on our first night was so kind and welcoming. Even Max the dog greeted us with an exciting wag of his tail as if he missed us.....hahaha.
We met Pat and Una on our second night, they too welcomed us as if we were old friends. They had fantastic suggestions for great places to see while we stayed with them.
We very much enjoyed our time in Multyfarnhamand felt so welcomed. Even if you do not stay with them, I highly recommend taking time to enjoy a meal at the Weirs Pub and Restaurant, it was the best meal we had on our trip to Ireland.

Charming small town retreat
Love the place. this house was perfect for us ( senior couple from California), plenty of space both upstairs and down. Large bed was nice to have, and comfortable. Really enjoyed the proximity to the restaurant and bar. Both Pat and Una were engaging and very helpful in suggestions of things to see and do. Lovely countryside to explore. Loved it...

Welcome Home
We booked here for almost a month recently. Most of the amenities were adequate for a couple of vagabonds like ourselves, but there was no clothes dryer which was slightly problematic. We were under the impression there was one. Max, the Weir's dog, greeted us wholeheartedly every time we returned from traveling which was fun for us and helped us not miss our own pets too much. The restaurant (which served delucious food) and pub are staffed with extremely friendly young people and Pat and Una were on hand most nights as well, with Pat giving us great advice on places to visit during our stay. However, toward the end of our stay, Pat and Una went away and did not leave us with any names or numbers of whom to contact if we had any problems. Unfortunately we did have the toilet break on us during that time and it tainted our visit slightly.

We loved our stay in Multyfarnham
What a wonderful place to stay! Una's place was cozy like home, and how convenient to be attached to the best restaurant in the area. The food at Weir's is the best we've had in Ireland by far. We love Multyfarnham and could move there in a minute. Thank you to Ursula and all the wonderful girls who took such good care of us during our stay. Everything was perfect.

Home Away From Home
Proprietors Una and Pat make you feel welcome. The cottage is quiet, well appointed and looks out on the most beautiful lawn and gardens. And if you lift up your eyes you can sometimes spot sheep in a pasture beyond. We also ate at their delightful restaurant enjoying fantastic meals.

Magical Multyfarnham
I chose the area as a base for cycling and to explore parts of the country I had not previously visited and could not have been luckier. The cycling is world class, on roads with minimal traffic and breathtaking views. The location is within an easy drive of Dublin, the West and even further afield. And Weir’s gastro-pub is the perfect place to unwind after a trip. Will certainly return.

Lovely Village
We enjoyed our stay with Una at her little cottage behind her pub.
It was unfortunate that we did not get to meet with her but she had Ursula give us the rundown of the place. The locals at the pub were very helpful and friendly.
We were missing our pup like crazy and Max was right their to provide "pet therapy".
Lovely time and we would recommend anyone to stay and walk about the village.
Sincerely,
Ivan and April Alexeev

The best part of our vacation, visiting Multyfarnham
The Weir's place in Multyfarnham was the best part of our vacation! We were greeted daily by Max and all of his wiggly enthusiasm. Una and Pat checked on us as we passed by each day to make sure we had what we needed, and if we needed any guidance navigating the area. This rural village was quiet and calm, beautiful and friendly, and the home cooking and hospitality at Weir's Bar and Lounge were perfect! Una even helped to make special arrangements in nearby Mullingar when she learned we were looking for a special souvenir from the area. And don't miss Una's bread, it is so hearty and filling, a great way to start the day.
Thank you to our hosts for providing everything we needed, including a comfortable bed in a very quiet setting for a great night's sleep.

Outstanding
Excellent location & the accommodation was ideal for us as a couple to explore parts of Ireland we hadn’t already seen. Cottage is very well appointed & very cosy & comfortable. Has everything needed as a base home away from home. Hosts Pat & Una were gracious & helpful (even though Pat has not quite mastered the Aussie accent!). Having a pub just steps from our door was a bonus, with great food, excellent service & staff plus great fun conversation with the locals. We stayed in the 1 bedroom cottage but there is also a delightful 3 bedroom cottage as well. Cannot recommend this location & accommodation highly enough. Will definitely come back to Multyfarham if we return to Ireland.

Wonderful Experience
My wife and I enjoyed our week in Multyfarnham. The cottage had all the necessary comforts of home and it was the perfect place to make our base for short trips to the likes of Dublin and Galway. Una and Pat were wonderful hosts and the food and bar in the Pub were outstanding. Met many interesting locals over a pint or 2 and Pat's musical talents in the Pub on our last evening made for a memorable finish to our trip.
