Awesome location; beachfront and beach access with short trail along beach, we were upgraded to an oceans front ocean view room which was AMAZING!!!!

Bathrooms need to be updated; hard bed ( each unit is individually owned, so it just depends on how well they have kept their mattresses and renovations. Our unit had Kohler bathroom sinks in boxes in the bedroom closet waiting to be installed. It needed a new tile- 70’s tile decor.

the only deal breaker was the rock hard uncomfortable bed. everything else was fine.

safe, quiet, pool, jacuzzi. washer, dryer. parking.

bed was hard and really uncomfortable. painful on hips and shoulders, couldn’t get well needed rest, not being able to sleep is a deal breaker. no a/c. old outdated interior ( carpet, furniture stove burners broken, unit needs complete upgrades. fridge leaks water when defrosting. need extra soap packets for washing machine and dishwasher. only one provided. lack of pans for cooking. Need to seal up under sink cabinet in kitchen to keep big two inch Amazon cockroaches out of the facility. My girlfriend was terrified quite frankly.

we had a wonderful stay at Kanaloa

we loved the ocean view from our lanai. It was quiet and clean and south of Kona away from the hustle and bustle of the town. All the staff and in particular the front desk office staff were very friendly. When our reservation was messed up they corrected the error quickly and pleasantly.

This is a great place to stay and enjoy all things big island

This is an excellent place to stay. The staff is friendly and helpful, the grounds are beautiful and well kept, and the apartment was comfortable and had everything we needed.

There were a couple of minor things in the apartment that needed attention, such as a whole in the ceiling in one bathroom and a moldy door gasket on the washing machine.

This property had so many beautiful features- very comfortable and spacious rooms, amazing pools and views, lush greenery and access to shopping nearby and the main town a short drive away.

Sometimes it was difficult for Uber or Lyft drivers to find the property. The room configuration that was shown when we booked online was also different to the one we were assigned for our stay- instead of two beds in one room as shown in the original photos, we had to use a mattress on the floor (provided by the hotel) as there was only one bed in one of the rooms.

Views were good but unit was not in good shape!

it had a fantastic ocean view!

Our room was very dirty! There were several things wrong in the unit, which we reported and they fixed. I ended up mopping the floors and cleaning. I did report this to the front desk and they just apologized and did not reimburse any portion of our cleaning deposit…unit needs a renovation asap!! furniture it all broken down!!!

Place itself was nice enough, in a nice location.

Check in staff were not helpful. I was charged more than i had booked on booking.com and told to take it up with booking. Had some issues with a double booking, rang them up to sort it out and didn't want to know about it. Everything i asked them was a problem. With a little customer service and a face lift, it would be a nice place to stay

Big apartments and overall very good stay

our 3-level apartments (406) was huge and comfortable, with three (!) patios, washer/dryer in unit, big fully equipped kitchen. It would be great to add some food containers in case if guests go for the long day trip and want/need to grab their own food. There are several pools in the apartment complex, but our favorite was with the ocean view. We used to see sunsets there!

It’s one the ocean shore but too far from a swim beach. When we checked in there wasn’t sense of fresh cleaning (cleaning charge is $300), I found hair in bathroom floor and on the sink. The shower in a master bedroom was very weak and didn’t work properly. Overall everything was good - there was good amount of towels as well as some beach towels too.

great location.

it was spacious and we had an easy check in. front desk was friendly and informative. doordash delivery welcomed at the property.

hot and humid inside the 2 bedroom unit. ac upon request but you pay have to pay for it. rooms need more floor fans and table fans. random hairs in tub. cleaning fee was just as much as what we we paid for two nights.

The property was a wonderful relaxing place for our family to relax and explore the island.

The whole property is beautiful and well maintained. We felt it was luxurious and comfortable at the same time. The attention to the gardens was really appreciated, it's one of those details that contributes to the overall feel of the complex. It was nice to have a selection of pools to use and we enjoyed the tennis courts too.

The only thing we didn't like - and this is minor - is that the jets in the hot tub at the Ocean Pool weren't working. Overall this didn't affect our enjoyment of our stay though. However, when presented with a maintenance issue on our second day, Castle staff handled it very quickly and efficiently and exceeded our expectations in solving a problem!

at least the location was good!

the cleaning team just called me saying I need to pay $150 for a stain in the bedroom. the thing is that I left the hotel almost a week ago and now they decided to call me about something I didn’t do! also, we saw a cockroach in the kitchen, we reported it and they’re saying they don’t have anything about it. so why should I pay $150 for a stain a didn’t do + cockroach? I do not recommend this hotel! the prices were high and the service was awful!

Over priced and uncomfortable

The staff was wonderful! The local man working security when we checked in on sept 2nd at 5pm was super helpful and friendly! The woman at the front desk on Saturday the 3rd who assisted me with questions and room move options was very helpful and friendly and professional. Even the grounds men were nice and friendly! Liked that there was 3 pools and tennis courts like the view of the ocean!

I should have read the reservation better as I booked a non ac room. Tried to room move but the extra $700 was more than budgeted. The unit we had- 2902 needs upgrading from the dishes to floor to beds. We actually purchased inflatable mattresses after the first night because we all woke up with sore bodies. There were dead spots in the flooring where it was soft…. Mold everywhere in the bathrooms, dust accumulation on doors, mold in framed art, dust and streaks on all glass, tables, doors, screen door scraped me as it was coming apart. Couch in the living room sank when sitting on, pull out sofa mattress needs replacing. Water didn’t get hot just like warm. Ceiling fans top speed seemed Stuck on slow. Flooring in kitchen hurt feet. No thongs in unit to bbq- I purchased one and left it there for the next people however I hope no one gets that unit until it received a renovation seriously looks and feels like it has never been renovated next to the shody flooring in the living room and guest room. Compared to Kona coast, royal sea cliff and Wyndham properties this one was more expensive however not up to par. My negatives are all product based, as the staff was awesome!

Not worth it

The unit overlooked the fairway so that was beautiful. The pool and grounds were well kept and it was nice to be able to see the sunset over the ocean. The location was also very convenient to stores, restaurants and beaches.

Our unit 1102 was worn out and dirty. Dishes had leftover residue, the unit had a funky smell the minute you walked in and there were bugs. The cabinets were showing water damage and quite worn. There were hardly any amenities to cook with, no cleaning sponge for dishes, no beach supplies and not enough beach towels. The shower handles needed to be pulled really hard for the water to work and there was no notice of that. We had to call maintenance to figure out how to turn it on. We had just come from renting an entire house for the same price that was gorgeous, clean and well equipped. This paled in comparison and was not worth the cost.

The staff was helpful.

we initially didn’t have an AC unit but realized that it was impossible to stay without AC in the hot and humid Kona weather. So we requested a switch of apartment. The switch was smooth and thw staff was very helpful.

The property can definitely benefit from some updates. The pool area, the interiors, bathroom are a bit outdated.

It was lovely and we'd love to come back!

The pools were great! We found a bonus closet with beach gear which was a super helpful. Paying extra for the air conditioning was helpful to sleep. Everything was very clean we saw minimal bugs.

The location was a bit outside of Kona and there was no beach access from the resort. There were lots of options within driving distance though.

we rented 3 condos all ocean front. next time I would request ocean view so as to have a little lawn and not so loud from the ocean. The mongoose aren’t good, they need to get rid of them.

Stay somewhere else, even if you just need a bed to sleep on. This is not a hotel or resort but a watered down Airbnb.

View and proximity of ocean was very nice. Had patio off both master bedroom (viewing parking lot) and living room (viewing green space and ocean). Staff was very friendly and attentive when we pointed out broken things, but unable to resolve issues due to the amount of time needed to get supplies.

Office to get assistance and to check in open only 8-5pm. Parking is not always near where you are staying. Internet is insecure and slow, when it is functioning. Arrived to find one tv non-functioning, and the other without functioning cable/antenna. Blinds in bedroom damaged and missing parts. No dish soap or dishwasher detergent, so if even staying for one day you need to buy/bring your own. Floors are filthy and the carpet felt horribly crunchy under foot. Air conditioning is only in the bedroom. Was told to open doors and windows at night while using fans to cool off the rest of the house, good in theory, but some people don’t want curtains and doors open while they sleep, especially when in the ground floor. Not enough towels, hand towels or wash clothes for more than a single day stay. Bedding is cheap and doesn’t stay on the bed. Bed is old and needs to be replaced. If you don’t want to sleep in the hole, move to the middle of the bed or sleep where your feet normally would be. No spices or condiments. This might be due to Covid, but I doubt it because there was salt and pepper.
