The staff, value & location was excellent. It's not the prettiest room but was adequate for the price. One of the best features of the room I stayed in was just how nice the bathroom was; it had a very nicely-tiled walk in shower (for an NBA athlete or super high shower head) and a kind of bathroom that one would find at a much higher end hotel!
There were some seedy-looking occupants but never in any threatening manner. I'm not the king of hygiene but whenever I stay at any motel or hotel I end up draping the chairs I sit on with the large bath towels like at Sand Piper too, not a bad thing just one of my not-at-home rituals.

The staff was friendly.
It's a Shady motel. The place could use a big remodel. The bed was old and could tell they had for a long long time. Things were just kind of set up to just work. Room service wasn't offered once. Was only there for the weekend, so no biggy I guess. Things were broken. The room I stayed in the toilet made a noise loud enough that it would wake me up out of my sleep. So I didn't sleep well. You can tell it was full of druggies. You almost have to keep your head down and not get too friendly with guests incase they think you're one too. Right when we pulled up there were two girls sitting off to the side of the front office with all their stuff. They were young and you can tell they were on drugs. Just a bad first impression right when checking in.

This was a great room for a 1 night stay. Great A/C , comfy bed & fresh clean towels !
The location wasn’t bad at all , we ubered to Huntington Beach and it wasn’t expensive at all.
The staff was friendly and answered any questions we had.
The mini fridge was a plus .
It smelled like cigarettes the minute we walked in! If you don’t mind it, you should be fine. But DAMN it was strong ! I swear someone was smoking in there before we walked in lol

I was in constant fear that one of the suspicious guys outside my room were going to eventually break in. Management should do a better job of keeping the outside clean and free from loiterers. The bathroom wasn’t fully cleaned when I received the room, there was pee splattered all over the cabinet Under the bathroom sink. There was cigarette holes in the bed sheets and on some pillows. There was holes everywhere and the windows were not secure at all they could’ve easily been lifted out. Also I was put in a non smoking room and the room smelled like old cigarettes the entire time and it would give my wife a headache.

there was a horrendous tapping sound all night i couldn't tell where it was coming from, sound like a ceiling fan broken or an old dryer or washer running all night

The fact that it was easily booked
The furniture was broken. Shower had broken tiles on ground of shower, little to no water coming from showerhead. We stayed about 1 hour and my husband refused to sleep in the bed, so we had to leave.

I did like the next day I was told instead of checking out by 11am I could stay until 1145am so I didn't have to rush out of there.
I didn't like the baby roaches that were in my room. I have stayed here at the Sandpiper quite a few times usually on the 2nd floor and haven't seen any but this time I saw more then a few. The top of one of the night stands was completely sticky with something gross. There were also people screaming very loudly in front of my door. This went on almost all night.
