Joe was an excellent host; very attentive and accommodating to my special needs. The breakfasts he prepared were divine! The bed and sheets were SO comfortable, and the towels were also nice and fluffy. The historical ambiance and significance remain intact!
I was concerned with the sidewalk lights being unlit at night, approximately 3/4 of them were out.
Also, and this is a really sore subject for me: My grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Charles A. Nitsch were the individuals who restored this lovely home back in the early 1960's, NOT the Hartkopf family! They may have made additional changes but they did NOT pioneer the original modern day restoration. After having lived there as a child in the summertimes, I am well acquainted with the inn's history. Over the years since first viewing the website's history page, I have written to correct this false narrative, to no avail. Please give credit where credit is due.

Breakfast was delicious. Location was perfect.

The property and inn were amazing and traditional. The owner/chef, Joe, was even better!
Our room was the only one that didn’t have an en-suite bathroom. It was still private and very nice, just not attached.

Our room was very clean. The mattress was very comfortable. The whirlpool tub was nice and clean. Nice location.
The manager was not very personable. He seemed rushed. He told us we were lucky to be there, because he only opened up the website for ten minutes for maintenance. The sofas needed to be cleaned. Our poster bed was broken, there were nails sticking up from the floor and the shower was filthy. The linens were torn. The fireplace was listed as being gas, but wasn’t. When we called down to Joe and asked about it, at first he said “no, no fireplace “, then said “ ok, I guess, if you want a fire”. I declined and told him I was disappointed. We were also told we couldn’t use the whirlpool tub after 10 pm or before 8 am, because it makes too much noise. It’s a beautiful house, just needs to be maintained.

Beautiful historic home with amazing grounds. The host was welcoming and accomadating. The breakfasts were delicious and service was phenomenal. Room was cozy and comfortable.
It would have been nice to have a couple glasses/ plastic cups in the bathroom.

Hospitality and graciousness is the style of this Inn. Everything is seen to with ease and a smile. Most needs are anticipated. Even my breakfast preferences were noted and made available the next morning. Extra courtesies were extended at no charge every day.
The Inn is an historic, 250+ year old, stone house which is renovated with modern baths, amenities, hi-tech features, and comfortable furnishings. What a place to have family gatherings, celebrations, retreats, or whatever you think up!
Only 2 Suggestions:
1] Mini Refrigerator guest room floors or in larger room baths
2] Ice availability
That's all....Coffee machine is great!

This is a little gem of a bed and breakfast--nice and quiet, rural area, but only 5 min from shopping and dining options. It's an historic old house, but the rooms are outfitted with modern amenities, central air that worked well, and a large, modern, luxurious bathroom (ours had a nice jetted tub!)
Everything was clean and in good working order. Internet/cable TV worked great--no problem streaming Netflix at high-quality. We found with macarons and berries when we arrived--a nice touch!
The breakfast was fantastic each morning--cheesy French toast one day, and a baked croissant dish the next, served with bacon, sausage, and a fruit & yogurt parfait. Every morning you can smell the bacon and sausage wafting up the stairs--not a bad way to wake up.
The owner's family lives on site and was very responsive to any needs we had. This was our second visit but it won't be our last!
I should warn that the floors and stairs are original hardwood and are somewhat creaky (i.e. you'll hear footsteps in adjoining rooms and going up/down the stairs)...but the walls are solid and we weren't disturbed by our neighbors during our stay.

Had amazing staff that greeted us before we even made it to the door and what looked like a 5 star restaurant for a breakfast, had a great big jacuzzi to relax in and for an anniversary we had big beautiful flowers, Champagne and chocolate strawberries!

The bed was very comfortable and the Inn was very clean.
The Proprietor, upon arrival, said he usually serves breakfast at 8:30am and 9:30am. I shared that I was attending a training and needed to leave the Inn around 8am. He said he would try to have a breakfast of sorts by 8am. When I came down to breakfast he handed me two pieces of fruit and said "I tried." He had fresh fruit and yogurt set up for another couple soon to eat breakfast yet didn't offer that to me, which I could have easily taken with me.

lovely facility that was beautifully kept. We enjoyed the history of the property and the grounds were very inviting.
Breakfast souffles were wonderful!!
The breakfast souffles were wonderful! The eggs were way overdone and hard as rocks.
The outside lighting was terrible. The pathways were dark, especially the steps coming through the garden.
We arrived after dark and the driveway was unlit so our driver missed it, as did each subsequent Uber driver who came for us. We were very concerned as this is a huge unnecessary liability for this property.

Joe is an excellent host. Very attentive! Always available. He simply takes excellent care of his guests. I will definitely stay there again on my next trip to Baltimore-Washington.

Location is awesome. Property is beautiful and cozy and Joe is great.
I think they should have some healthier options for breakfast - but was still awesome.

Breakfast was excellent!
Rooms were decorated beautifully and very spacious.

The owners work very hard to serve a good breakfast, but I thought it deserved a 4/5 and my room was on the top floor and it required me going next door to use the bathroom or take a shower. It was only for the use of my room’s occupants, but combined with old (but nicely refurbished) squeaky floors I wouldn’t have wanted to be in the room below me.

This centuries-old inn gave the feeling of being in an early American era. It was beautifully decorated and also felt very comfortable and homey - and the AC worked perfectly on a sweltering hot, July day!
The owners took care of everything we could have wanted, and served us a classy (and filling) breakfast with 5-star service!
I loved the grounds which had a couple of seating areas, a pond and well-cared-for native trees. I appreciated the nice landscaping and shaded parking.
On third floor, the hand rail needs to extend to the first step of stairs going down. That step is exposed in the middle of the landing, so we had to pay attention not to step into it absentmindedly.
