Very happy to have received a twin room instead of a bunkbed. Had really great sleep.

We were able to check in earlier. Towels were provided for free. The private room was basic, but just what we expected from a hostel room.
Though no fault of the hostel, we stayed during the rioting and weren’t able to sleep for a large part of the night due to police presence. Also lots of noise from inside the hostel from people coming and going and slamming doors in the process.

The staff was really nice and helpful.
It looks like it hasn’t changed since the 70s. Could use a bit of renovation work, especially in the bathroom.

The staff were really friendly and happy to help. The location was quite good, only a 10 minute walk into the city centre and conveniently next to a cheap cafe.
The key card system was pretty ordinary to be honest. We had to get our card recalibrated a couple of times as it just wouldn't work when we went to scan into our room.

Very reasonable for 4 people.
Staff were very welcoming and helpful.
Convenient location for bus tours and cafe.
Mattresses on beds were quite thin.
One of our party found the beds uncomfortable.

The location is good and it is a good stay for a couple of days.
The mattress was not comfortable. The room was too small, but they alert you before.

The library had lots of interesting / useful books
perhaps some perspex on inside of bathroom door to protect it - it was a wet room and door didn't match the rest of the superb standards

The staff were lovely. The room was clean and the beds were very comfortable.

Checkin was great, was able to store the bags even after checkout for free.
Beds were ok,nothing too fancy, but they were clean. Showers were clean too.
The walls in the room were quite dirty, climbing into the upper bunk was rather hard and uncomfortable. Bit noisy after midnight.

Nothing I was rejected for google autofilling my booking
I could not check in even after changing my personal details in the booking. The employee treated me like a criminal

Clean rooms and facilities, felt very secure, helpful staff at all times
No real common areas, kitchen out of use, difficult to meet people/socialise
3.8
it’s close location to city / transportation hub
no dislike. please remember that it is a hostel.

Although I had my doubts about staying in a youth hostel, it was a very good stay. The room was spartan but clean, I was able to borrow a towel. Parking in the back is convenient and the staff at the cafe are really nice. Great eateries around the corner.
Lack of soap in the bathroom, but I didn't ask ahead of time.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, with directions/recommendations and loaning us things we needed. There are vending machines inside, and a late night takeaway over the road for when the cafe isn’t open. It’s exactly what it says on the tin, a youth hostel - a place to stay for the night; it’s not the ritz but you can’t expect that for the high value and low price paid!
I wouldn’t have felt the safest getting to the hostel in the dark if I were a solo female traveller, but not particularly any more so than any other larger city, and this isn’t the hostel’s fault. However with this in mind, the hostel was secured really well with guests having to show their room key to be allowed in during the night, and I felt safe during my stay.

Decor could be a bit brighter particularly in the reception area felt a bit gloomy to walk into as a first impression .

The staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our stay
The hostel felt safe with key card access
The beds were comfortable
Great value for money
Good location and by many bus routes
The small kitchen facilities were a bonus (fridge, kettle, microwave) however the cutlery, cups and plates were all disposable
The rooms were somewhat clean. The sink didn’t drain due to a build up of hair and one of the bedsheets had stains - which was changed as soon as I reported it to reception
3.8
close to the city centre, free parking out back
the bed was a little uncomfortable
