I would definitely recommend

17 of us stayed and we had plenty of room. Had 2 evening meals and were able to find everything we needed in the kitchen. Went for a local walk, used the hotel open air swimming pool next door and did the Monsell

Good communication from the host. Clean accommodation. Good location for Matlock Bath attractions. Good size and bedrooms for our group of 19 but getting us all around the dining table was a squeeze. Overall, fine.

Spacious house in a lovely area. The owner was prompt at coming out to sort a problem with the boiler. There was more than adequate pots/pans and utensils. Beautiful garden. The house decor was a little tired and parking is tight for a big group, but this were minor details. We had a great weekend in a great place Thank you

Good location
Good location for walks etc.
House good for a large group.
Parking could have been better as it only allows for a number of cars but house holds 22 guests?

Lovely stay
Great building, well equipped for large groups, even with a wide range of children's ages, nice and quiet at night, lots of nice things to do around the area.
Great dining facilities. Communication was limited to begin with but was very responsive around time of trip.
I'd highly recommend it!

As a veteran of hiring holiday houses for large groups, we were really pleased with our choice. We are a group of 5 families and it was ideal with 2 lounges, a large dining area and a really well equipped kitchen. Bedrooms were spacious and comfy with plenty of en suites for the number of people. The kids loved the garden especially the tree house too. The house is in a great location, within an easy walk of the village centre, pubs, shops and parks, and there are lots of attractions on the area. We're already talking about going back next year!

We rented Lyndhurst House for my sisters hen weekend last December. We had a party of 22 and as such our options were limited, but we found Lyndhurst online and it looked the perfect venue in the perfect location.
Upon our arrival impressions were good, but unfortunately it didn't take long for us to encounter problems. We arrived after dark and the first issue we had was that lighting not working in the games room, not a massive issue for us as we weren't really planning on using it, but the next day I did note that there was a broken glass all over one corner of the room, a good job then we hadn't been exploring the house bare foot.
As we started to get set up for the rest of our guests arriving we noticed more and more issues;
Some of the soft furnishings were horribly grubby, we had to bring the blankets down from bedrooms to further cover the furniture to make it presentable.
The kitchen sink was leaking, causing a slip hazard.
The general maintenance and cleanliness of the whole house could have been a lot better, there were stained sheets in some of the rooms and one of the front bedroom windows was very loose and banged all night.
Our biggest issue was the dining room. We specifically chose this property for it having a dining room which seated 18, with an extension to 22. This is grossly mis-leading. The main table fits only 10 of the chairs provided (which, incidently were filthy) 12 at a push with people sitting on corners. We found the extension mentioned on the website, this gained us space for a maximum 3 extra, but by now the table stretched the full length of the dining room and there was no room to push chairs in and out on the ends. I thought I must be missing something so I called owner. He was totally unhelpful, and if I'm honest, quite rude, he implied that I was 'making it up' by keep insisting that he had previously sat 22 round it. It was massively frustrating. I asked he could come and show me how he'd made it work, he said he would come Saturday morning. In the meanwhile we brought in the garden table and sent an SOS to guests to bring camping tables. It's a good job we did as the owner didn't come on the Sat am, nor was he in touch at all (until we had to chase him for our deposit)
We made it work, with camping tables, garden table and a 'U' shape out into the hall, but by no means ideal and certainly by no means thanks to the owner. What a shame, such a beautiful property, but not clean and such very poor service.

I booked this accommodation for a family weekend to celebrate my mother's 92nd birthday. It was a last minute booking when there was limited availability for a party of 13. Although we enjoyed our get-together in the spacious and characterful property, there were numerous disappointments- mainly relating to cleanliness and maintenance.
We arrived at 5pm to find everything in total darkness. No lighting made for a treacherous ascent of the many steps. The torch near the key safe did not work. Thankfully the light on my mobile phone did, and on ringing the owner for assistance, was dismayed at his rather abrupt manner.
We had arrived on the coldest day of the year, and though the heating had been switched on earlier, and did eventually warm up , we were thankful for the wood burning stove in the front lounge.
Unfortunately, the radiator did not work in the first floor ensuite bedroom ( which we had earmarked for my elderly mother, for her convenience) She was then forced to use the bedroom next door , which meant negotiating 4/5 stairs during the night to access the first floor bathroom.
The kitchen was well-equipped and the dining room very spacious, easily seating 10 adults and 3 small children around the large table. However, we did feel that everywhere was in need of a thorough clean - and especially the so-called games room, which was freezing cold and very spartan( bare concrete floor and walls) with only a table football game, so never used. I noted similar comments had been made in an earlier review, but no action seems to have been taken. There were still missing light bulbs around the house too! The owner should be making regular checks on this basic maintenance himself, and not relying on guests to report.
My substantial deposit was returned 6 weeks later - and only after emails & a polite telephone conversation with Mr Walker, when once again his customer service was disappointingly curt.
Based on these comments, I do not feel able to recommend the property to friends or relations.
All of the major attractions in the local area were closed for the winter period so I cannot comment on those or any restaurants as we tended to eat in. ( though there was certainly an abundance of fish and chip shops in Matlock Bath)

We had a fantastic stay at the house! The whole stay was really well managed by the owner from the booking to arriving and leaving. Really helpful and easy. We all loved the house with the young children loving the garden the most. It is a beautiful house, well maintained and really good sized rooms and bedrooms. Everything we needed was there for our use which made the stay very straightforward.
Would highly recommend and with so much to do in the area for all ages and weather it is a great place for a long or short stay.

A very comfortable house for a large family, lots of character including log burners to add to the atmosphere. A well stocked kitchen enabled successful cooking of Xmas Dinner! Superb big dining table for a festive meal!
Parking was not an issue, wifi coped with demands of teenagers!

Lovely House
I was a member of a large party staying at Lyndhurst in August 2014. We had a great stay in this house - we did meet the owner who was very helpful. Having read the previous review I wanted to post this just to say that the owner did say he was having problems with the cleaner who had now been sacked. The house was perfect for us - very clean and spacious although the games room was a bit small and in need of an upgrade - apparently it is being overhauled in the autumn...
Great house, great location and great weekend. Thanks!

lyndhurst review
We had a great holiday and this house is in a good location, however it was very dirty and in a poor state of repair. The furniture was tired and some of the garden furniture was broken. we spent time replacing light bulbs and minor repairs were needed during our stay. the barbecue was only a concrete base and the games room was small and in poor state of repair. Several comments in the guest book referred to the lack of cleanliness in the house overall but obviously nothing had been done to address it. Even the freezer was full of food. There was no contact with the owner or company - just a key left for us in a key safe.
