Cleaners know how to clean window sills that had mold on & spider webs in a lot of windows. They need to get new pots & pans. They were none there that were usable. I always carry pots & pans with us because I have dealt with this before. They need to get some there to fix washer. You can’t even sit down for a meal or watch a movie together. Without the washer making such a loud noise. Also the weeds were coming up thru the deck, the grass was not mowed behind the cabin…no making anything over the campfire & the front of the house had weeds growing taller than the porch.

The mountain view, was the best.

Amazing view at the very top. Cabin is so warm and cozy with the gas fireplace. There are so many windows you can see the view from all inside.

Property was just as described. Love that it was out of the way, even if it was up a hill. Great stay with all that we needed.

We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. The road is an adventure in itself, but with 4WD we had no trouble. We enjoyed the area each day then returned to the cabin each night for family dinners, game nights and s’mores. The view was amazing.

We enjoyed our stay here very much. House is well-appointed with a modern, well equipped kitchen, and everything you need from laundry detergent to a first aid kit. Very roomy and an excellent place for a family with 3 bedrooms and 3 full baths. (Loft has 3 beds). The view is fantastic and it’s very relaxing and quiet, but only about 20 minutes from the whitewater rafting areas. It’s also very close to Nantahala Lake , with a relaxing atmosphere and a great restaurant. It is a bit of a climb up the hill, but you’re fine with a 4WD vehicle and it’s worth it when you arrive. We loved this place and will be back!

They are not kidding about 4x4 or AWD vehicle. When I stay here again, I'll bring my own pots and pans. Teflon is flaking off on theirs. Pretty close to an easy section of the AT. Cute towns near by, good grocery store. Love the porch. Pictures on site are accurate. It's that pretty of a view.

Was a very nice cabin with a amazing view. Up in the woods and very private. No att cell service but good wi-fi. If it’s raining or snowing you will definitely need 4wd to get up to the cabin. It was very clean and and in good condition. The property manager Tracy was very very nice.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here at Gator Ridge. The pictures online don't lie. The views are breathtaking, the porch is peaceful, and the cabin is so pleasantly comfortable, roomy and cozy all at the same time. The Kitchen had all the essentials and the grill was nice to have too. The porch was BY FAR my favorite spot. Gorgeous views 24/7, with rocking chairs, Adirondack chairs, and fans if you needed an extra breeze.
The property manager/contact was so responsive and helpful before, during, and after - she's amazing!
4 Wheel or All wheel Drive is necessary, I wouldn't drive the road to the house with out that!
We Highly recommend Whitewater Rafting and Ziplining at the NOC, hiking and waterfalls at Deep Creek Trail, Lunch at SnakShak and Ice Cream at Cornerstone Café in Bryson City. That was plenty to keep our family with 3 teenage boys entertained for 4 days, wish we could have stayed longer.

My friends and I stayed at the cutest cabin for 4nights and loved every minute of it. We live in the city and most of us keep our phones in our hands at all times. This trip we were disconnected and barely looked at our phones. The views from our cabin were breathtaking and my soul is happy! I will definitely be back as soon as I can get away from the hustle and bustle of city life..

Beautiful view!
The property was as described and very clean. There was more room in it than we actually thought! There were essentials (soap, shampoo, TP) already there, even though we brought our own. The driveway wasn’t as bad as some of the reviews made it out to be. A 4WD/AWD is needed but nothing our car couldn’t handle (4Runner). The seclusion was fantastic. The only thing we wished we had seen was a bear and it would have made our trip complete!

This property and home is beautiful and we had a great time. We took two cars on our trip one 4x4 and the other an SUV. We had to all piled in the back of the 4X4 to get to the house and left the non 4x4 father down the drive. Glad we made a plan on the car situation before we went.

This cabin was literally perfect except the driveway. I have 4 wheel drive and it was even scary for me a couple times. I did fine until the very last hairpin, very steep hill. My daughter could not get up the hill, and my niece actually drifted backwards into a deep ravine and a very kind neighbor used a truck to pull her out. We go down every year at this time for a family reunion and I have stayed in many cabins on Lake Nantahala, this was my favorite. I just wish the road to get there was a lot better

The cabin was short of amazing. Listen when reading the reviews the steep driveway will discourage you DONT let it. Just think of going up the driveway as an adventure. I will book again so should you!

4x4 or AWD is needed to get to the end of the driveway
Serenity now!...providing you brought 4wheel drive.
Great place!

Great stay!
Property was just as described in the listing. Clean, well furnished with everything we needed; nice view, great solitude. The property manager was helpful and responsive. Yes the drive is steep and you'll need 4WD or AWD, but with our AWD vehicle it was no big deal. We enjoyed the fire pit, and there are several places in town to buy firewood. Town & grocery store (Ingles) are not far - plan for about 23 mins more because of windy country roads, than pure distance. I think the bottom line in reviews like this: "Would you stay there again?" In my case, the answer is definitely yes.

Good and bad
We did not see that 4 wheel drive was needed until after confirmation was sent at which time it was to late do to no refund. It stated that two vehicles could park at the cabin I would beg to differ as it was a tight squeeze to get a suburban turned around, had there been two trucks up there we would have had to back down the mountain. The cleanliness was questionable, we found dirty cups and more put up in the kitchen for use as well as no lids for any pots or pans in the cabin along with the linens smelling stale and/or unclean. The hall shower was not usable as there was no lever to redirect water from the bath to the shower head. There were no cleaning supplies provided for periodic cleaning during the stay. In the book left in the cabin it stated that minimal toilet paper, paper towels (one roll) and garbage bags (3) were provided and if more were needed that we would have to purchase more. This was not disclosed in the listing. We had originally planned on 10 people staying and while there was sleeping room for that number it would have been tight to all be indoors together at one time in the common areas. I feel like the pictures were misleading about the size of the cabin. I would not recommend this cabin for people with small children, we have a energetic 3 year and due to the steep drop off the mountain she was limited on what she could do outside. The views were beautiful and lucky not came that were planned for so we were comfortable. Just a few minor changes to the accommodations as well as the description online would be beneficial. I think that the importance for 4 wheel drive should be the first line of the listing as well as the limited space for children outside to play safely.

Great place, I hated to leave.
Nice and comfortable cabin, well stocked, nice and clean
4.8
Very nice. Good value
Great cabin ambience while providing electronic links to the world. Good location to attractions. Great peaceful isolation. Fresh mountain air. Huge ever changing view of valley and sky is better than watching plays, movies, or TV.
Very important; the INITIAL listing should HIGHLIGHT the last 1/4 mile STEEP and TWISTING GRAVEL ROAD that takes a little getting used to, recommending a moderate to high degree of all teraign skill and of automotmobile traction capability, which during our advanced reservation period of greater than five months we were not informed until a week prior to arrival. We switched our transport choice to our F-350 dully 4x4, locked our hubs, and climbed slow and steady just fine. A front wheel drive van made it by taking all weight out of the back half and keeping up relatively rapid momentum. We loved our stay. “Thanks” to everyone!

Beautiful views!
We all loved staying here! The porch was peaceful and the views of the mountains were beautiful. The House was clean and there was plenty of space for our family of 6. The kids have already requested to come back!
4.8
Beautiful but your car must have 4 wheel drive!
Beautiful views from the restful cabin but....nearly impossible to drive up to.
As others stated the gravel driveway is very long and steep and could not make it up. You must have a good 4 wheel drive to get up to the cabin. Both cars in our group had to park at the bottom of the driveway and we hiked our way up and down the hill with all of our stuff, including children and groceries.
As the last reviewer stated: This was not mentioned in any of the descriptions of the cabin EXCEPT on the check-in email which we received a couple of days prior to our arrival, which said "4 wheel drive is required to make it up the driveway". I agree that this should be mentioned in the description of the cabin up front. I personally was pretty upset at first and was worried what might happen if it rain and we couldn't get our cars out.
That said the beauty of the place did win me over. I only suggest going if you plan on rarely if never leaving during your stay.

Beautiful cabin in the middle of the forest
We really enjoyed our time at the cabin. The home is clean and spacious, with beautiful views as it is situated at the top of a mountain. It is nicely furnished, has a large front porch to enjoy the views and a fire pit outside. It fit our crew of 5 adults and 4 kids easily. It is located near Lake Nantahala and we had a beautiful day on the lake in a rented pontoon boat, as well as some great hikes to the Rufus Morgan waterfall and the Wesser Bald fire tower.
I would definitely recommend this cabin with a few caveats:
- The gravel driveway is very long and steep and our Buick Enclave could not make it up. Therefore, we had to park at the bottom of the driveway and hike our way up and down the hill with all of our stuff, including 2 young children. This was not mentioned in any of the descriptions of the cabin EXCEPT on the check-in email which we received a couple of days prior to our arrival, which said "4 wheel drive is required to make it up the driveway". It's obviously too late to procure a 4 wheel drive vehicle 2 days before the trip, so this was useless. This should be mentioned in the description of the cabin up front as this may be a deal breaker for some people with limited mobility.
- As we could not make it up the driveway, there was no place to turn our vehicle around to make it back down the hill. As such, we had to back our way down the mountain on a steep, narrow, winding gravel road until there was a space to turn around. This was doable, but certainly not for the faint of heart!
- The location is beautiful, but is 30 minutes away from the closest tiny town and grocery (Murphy) and an hour away from Franklin. Come prepared with groceries and supplies, and expect to do a lot of driving through winding mountain roads.
- We had NO cellular service (AT&T) for the entire time that we were in the Nantahala forest. Our vehicle's On Star WiFi also did not work, so modern-day "on the fly" navigation (i.e., Google Maps) was difficult. The employees at the outfitter store in Franklin were very helpful in providing directions and recommendations on trails, etc. and we bought a good map which was immensely helpful.
-The cabin does have excellent WiFi that works well, so we were able to Face Time to communicate with those back home.
Overall, we had a wonderful time and enjoyed "unplugging" for a few days. However, I think the driveway situation needs to be mentioned up front as this could be a logistical deal-breaker for some.

Great cabin well equipped, comfortable beds, very spacious rooms. WiFi worked good, dish network,
Very spacious cabin, well equipped, comfortable beds, beautiful view of the valley and mountains. The only negative we encountered was the road up to the cabin, we had trouble getting up there even with 4x4 truck, but we will be back.

We had a great time
Even being a first time user it was simple and quick. The cabin was lovely. Thank you homeaway
