Excellent view, spacious rooms, many facilities, less suited for people with diet wishes

- Excellent view from spacy rooms - Three swimming pools (used daily), spa (not used) with a diving site on premise - Specialty restaurants (not the Oceans buffet restaurant) on site - Late check out possible without extra cost - Friendly staff, especially the "singing egg lady" preparing omelets, poached or any other kind of eggs made our day!

- Beds are not comfy, matrasses too hard to fit in shoulders or hips. - Coffee and juices in the Oceans restaurant (breakfast, diner) are way below standard (good coffee seems to be a problem everywhere on the island). - Choice of the buffet is plenty UNLESS you are vegetarian/vegan, muslim, jew or hindu... Almost all "salads" contain meat or fish, even the so called "vegan potatoes" contained fried bacon (!). So after two nights we stopped eating there as two of our company are vegetarians. - The elevator in tower 1 to the pools not working for three (separate) days

schönes Hotel in sehr guter Kage

Die Aussicht war perfekt, die Zimmer groß. Das war Essen reichlich und gut zubereitet. Es war für jede Geschmacksrichtung etwas dabei.

Fehlende Steckdosen im Badezimmer für Rasierer und Lockenstab. Von 4 Kaffeeautomaten waren nach der Hälfte der Frühstückszeit mind. 1 außer Betrieb.

Won’t go back.

The pools were nice and ocean access was great.

The amenities are great, but the staff was rude and always acted bothered by us if we needed anything. They were rude at the pool restaurant. The food at the buffet was terrible and the coffee was worse. They charge an arm and a leg and then charge you for water. The restaurants included in the half board are always “full” so you are forced to eat at the buffet, but they leave tables open so people can just walk in off the street. The pillows and beds are uncomfortable and hard.

A vista e localização do Hotel é incrivel. Funcionários simpáticos e dispostos a ajudar. Restaurantes com variada comida muito boa.

Casa de banho, elevadores e outras instalações do hotel precisam de uma renovação, para um hotel de 5* deixa um pouco a desejar.

- Fitnessraum nicht frei nutzbar - Schwimmen erst ab 07:00 Uhr möglich - Mangelhafte Schwimmaufsicht/ LifeGuard an kritischer Badeinsel im Atlantik - Kritik wird ignoriert - limitierte Handtücher am Pool

Nice stay but not worth the price.

The hotel is on a beautiful location with view over the Atlantic Ocean. The general service is excellent and personnel is very kind and helpful. The food served at the main restaurant is good with enough of variety, the room was very spacious.

The hotel needs an overal renovation, the rooms are outdated. This is not what we expect from a 5 star hotel at that price.

Very good

Very tasty, various and constantly replenished food. A lot of fish ( the one with banana and passion fruit sauce was the best), seafood, fruits, cheese etc.. Good location with direct access to the ocean. Beautiful views from the rooms. Very attentive and polite Staff. Clean.

Some renovation is needed but your forget about it after few days.

Nice Stay but 19 minutes from downtown. Area very hilly by hotel.

Breakfast and dinner buffet included. However juices from breakfast buffet had bugs floating in the top

Booked three rooms. Third room not close by even though we requested it. It was suppose to be partial ocean view but they could not see the ocean. They only saw people that could look into their room on the third floor.

Our overall stay was at excellent with the exception of the food. Otherwise great location and comfortable stay.

The property was beautiful and clean. Staff was wonderful and attentive. Location made it easy access to restaurants and walking to the old city of Madeira. We were also upgraded to a premium suite which gave us an amazing view of the ocean.

We found the bedding pillows to be extremely uncomfortable and hard. It felt like sleeping on sofa cushions. Also the food buffets were bland much like cruise buffets. For this reason we opted to make reservations at some amazing restaurants in Funchal.

Everything was amazing, food was superb and good variety of it everyday. Staff was exceptionally helpful and pleasant at any time of the day. Rooms were lovely and clean. Great location. Overall 10/10, would recommend!

Pleasant but room for improvement

location was good, 29 mins walk into central Funchal.

we booked a Pemium Double Room . The mattress needs replacing, it was very uncomfortable. One of the double glazed windows you could not see out of. That also needs replacing. The hotel generally needs maintaining.

I like the breakfast options fresh eggs, poached,fried omlete were cooked for you. Evening meal buffet had good variety and fresh fish was cooked

I did not like the lighting in the room, decoration in the room were outdated. Shower,bath and basin tap need replacing. The swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna was quite old for a 5star hotel no heated pool provided inside and the jacuzzi was poor

Very good

Although a good hotel it didn't have any real atmosphere. The buffet meals were okay but could do with enhancement. The layout of the hotel was strange, built to accommodate the hillside so multiple lifts / stairs to get to the pools etc. Provision of pool towels was poor. You needed to hunt out where they were given out and no drop off / replacement options by the pool. Really it's not a five star hotel - more like a four star. Some of the clients didn't seem to have any manners and the use of knives & forks was alien to them. Maybe rooms are being discounted to attract these people. Location is excellent with very good local busses and ample taxis near by. Would return as the staff are very friendly. It's just some of the guests let the hotel down.

Most enjoyable stay. Good location, friendly staff, sea-view room with good amenities.

Excellent spacious room with balcony overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Lovely views. The buffet restaurant served very good food with many varieties. Service staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, I would recommend this hotel. In addition to the excellent buffet restaurant, the hotel had two specialised bookable restaurants.
