Great property. Hoat was quick to reply to any questions and our stay was amazing.

We love the property and location. We enjoyed interacting with the host. Our only frustrations were related to the cleanliness of the kitchen and appliances. The outdoor furniture was also in need of updating or repairs.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and look forward to visiting again soon.

Amazing house. A bit dilapidated but nothing to make us not want to rebook for next year. Had some group members complain about the worn out mattresses when we arrived, I told Victor and he showed up the same day and with 2 new mattresses. That is great service! Pool is fantastic but the surface can rough up your feet, highly recommend water shoes. Will be back!

30 family members had a wonderful time and plenty of space. The pool, hot tub and other outside spaces were well used. The house was more than spacious enough. Could use some updating but was clean. Would suggest having more cold storage. A full size refrigerator/freezer would be great downstairs and maybe a mini fridge in the bunk room kitchen.

The home is amazing and it was such a great place to bring a large group. As other reviews have said, it could use some updates, but we thoroughly enjoyed the place and will comeback next year!
The property is not in Buford and it was listed as such. It is in Gainesville on the backside of the lake. Hopefully VRBO corrects this.
The owner was great to work with.

Our family of about 30 enjoyed a week here at the end of December. The house is so big, it is almost disorienting at first! Our people loved the large bedrooms with baths; the play spaces inside and out; the short walk to Bethel Park with 3 great foot trails and boat ramp and beach access; the commercial quality kitchen with a griddle big enough for 15 pancakes at a time and real commercial pizza oven. And the spaces you could go for a bit of quiet.
The owner met me at the check in, which I really appreciate. And he responded quickly when the Jacuzzi was not working on day one, getting a repair person out same day which is great. But overall communications with owner were sparse and not very responsive in the 10 or so months between contract and our stay. He only communicates through the vrbo app. So, he responded when I really needed him to.
Several mattresses (7 of 10) need replacement, some very badly. If you have a group with sensitive backs, this is deal breaker.
As others have noted, there are some mice in the pantry (so put food in tubs). I wish we could have gotten the fireplace in the library working. It was ideal fireplace weather, and that is a beautiful retreat. Also, we had one game table that was already broken collapse while there. We took pictures and notified him and the owner was good about not having issues with it. Thanks for an excellent stay with great memories!

The house is huge & accommodates many people with lots to do but it needs major updating & a better cleaning service. We had to run straight out for cleaning supplies to clean mold off toilet seats & get Drano for many sinks that wouldn’t drain. The pool table had sticks with no tips so my husband fixed those. We never got the fireplaces working & it took quite the effort to get the hot tub running. They need new couches all through the house. They should be embarrassed by the wear & tear of them!!! The kitchen is large & great for space but was a challenge to cook thanksgiving dinner in. They need new appliances badly. Bring extra bath towels & paper products if you choose to rent here. Also.. it’s lake view but not lake access. We didn’t realize that. Great view though!
So overall we just felt like for the money we spent to rent this house it should have been updated & felt nicer. The kids all felt like we were in a run down castle. It was kinda sad really! But our family time was still great and we will rent another big house again.. just not this one.

What a perfect place to gather our family and celebrate a chance to be together. With ages 1 to 85, our 22 member family enjoyed all the wonderful space and comfort of this expansive home! Places for work meeting when needed and lots of tables for puzzles and games. Great gathering places everywhere and rooms for movies, basketball, ping pong, etc - no end to the activities availability.
Bedrooms and bath choices to accommodate everyone in comfort.
Lots of cooking with an amazing pizza oven and large griddle plus the “normal” kitchen. A pantry filled with many sizes of cooking equipment and various electric appliances. Oodles of dishes and silver. Perfect for a large group.
Of course, the pool was busy every day and the hot tub a nightly past time. Lots of visiting on porches and the beautiful views of Lake Lanier - a few days with a boat rental and fishing added to all the fun.
All in all - a perfect place. Thanks to Victor for his timely attention. Thanks for a great week!!

It was very roomy. Many broken parts and outdated decor. Two tv's working with apple for the whole house. Pool was great as well as location. Not spotless. Toilets clogged easily. Many ants by the pool. Landscaping was not optimal. Loved the pizza oven. Ice makers didn't work anywhere but the laundry and it was small for a place that could sleep 30. Sleeping that many required sofa beds. Absolutely great entertainment....chess, roulette, poker and pool table, badmitten, volleyball, theater room, dance room, some pool toys, hot tub.

This house is amazing. It is huge and has so many great places to gather. The large kitchen with pizza oven was perfect for feeding a crowd. I will say, the house does need some updates but you can not beat the view!

Took a group of high-schoolers and adults. Great stay! Great area. Loved pool and hot tub! Lots to do without having to leave! Spacious and well supplied!

We loved the property - only one hour from our home. Easy access to all family members. Magnificanat facility. Lots to do on site - we did not leave the site. We hiked, played all the games available at the facility and even laid out a pickleball court on the drive way. We did all our meals there - used the pizza oven, green egg and the large stove grill. Two members of the family are great cooks - they enjoyed using the facility..
It did take us one day to get the thermostas adjusted properly (there were so many) Our trip was in January, - a summer trip would have allowed us to use the pool and spa.

This property is really spectacular. There are so many rooms and almost all of them have their own full bathroom! The Kitchen is large enough to host and cook multiple meals at the same time and the dinning space is large with a long table.
They also offer additional folding chairs and tables for a nominal fee and they were in great shape. Worked well for our large group!
The house is a little older so scale your expectations. There were a few little things like a doorknob that fell off and a kitchen drawer that was broken upon arrival, but that is too be expected on a house this age and of this size. It was not a big deal at all.
The Kitchen was stocked with a bunch of utensils and the pantry had pots and pans. Most of the pans were not usable, but they did have a set of HexClad pans that were AMAZING! They should replace the pots with those too and they will be all set (people tear up the teflon stuff so quick).
The Theatre room was spacious and comfortable and had cable and the option of viewing Netflix if you signed in. Hulu was not supported on that TV. Perhaps it just needs an update?
We especially enjoyed the real fireplace in the main living room and purchasing wood from a local vendor through Facebook Marketplace was easy.
The Outdoor pool and hot tub were also a hit! However, the hot tub controller is really tricky and can make it difficult to get the heater working. Would love to see another style option like a simply "push button" that turns on the heater. It took a while, but by day #2 we had it on and hot. I would suggest turning that on the moment you arrive so it's ready when you want to use it.
There were a few bugs that showed up, but again, this is a huge house that backs up to the woods so expect that. I would just make sure you put the food away so you don't attract anything.
The only real negative was communication with Victor. He was great, but it took forever for him to reply which made it hard to plan sometimes (as we were trying to get more info in advance).
Overall it was a wonderful experience and we definitely look forward to coming back to this amazing house!

I’ve throughly enjoyed staying at this property a number of times over the last couple of years. It truly is amazing but… it’s starting to fall into some disrepair. It’s not as clean as it use to be … some of the bunk beds are broken … one of the pull out sofas didn’t have a mattress … I enquired about additional sheets for the sofa beds during our last stay and was told to look in closest … there weren’t any … had to pull top sheets off of other beds to try to make due. There not enough towels when you have over 20 people staying in the house. And last but not least …. The bugs. I understand that this property is on a nature reserve and not pesticides can be used outside but the amount of spiders and roaches inside were just too much this time. The pool, hot tub and view at this house are incredible. Landscaping needs a lot of attention.

Fantastic property for family in area for wedding. 26 members of all ages from infant to 60 y/o, plenty of space to relax, enjoy others, converse, play, go hide on your own, etc. Great Time.
4.3
There were lots of activities here for all ages. The pool and hot tub were fantastic. We had lots of water volleyball games with the net and volleyball we found in the outdoor game storage room. Victor was very responsive with a few issues we had. Thank you!

This property is stunning as soon as you drive up to the gates. Interestingly, the VRBO address given on the site is wrong, as has often been pointed out by previous reviewers. Fortunately, the property manager/owner was very specific and helpful in his instructions, so we found it with no problems. That was the first of many ways in which he was extremely helpful and responsive! Just wonder if the erroneous address ever results in potential guests deciding not to book, thinking the location doesn't work for them? At any rate, the house was perfect for a large family reunion such as ours, with 30 people from 3 to 74. We really enjoy enjoy getting everyone under one roof and this was the biggest roof we've ever seen. In truth, there are very few properties we've found that can accommodate our group, which continues to grow with each reunion. We never felt crowded, inside or out, with plenty of space to be together or apart.
The outside spaces provide so much enjoyment, from the fantastic pool and spa to the areas for basketball, badmitton, chess and smores around the firepit. We even striped a court for pickleball, which was an absolute hit for many in our group. That alone gives you an idea of the outside space as we had a dozen cars but easily enough space for pickleball! We also saw deer, fox and many birds on the property and the kids were able to fish at the local park just a short walk away. To top it off, the views of the lake were always spectacular! While we've most always had beach or lakefront for our reunions, we didn't miss that at all and there's no way to get waterfront for a place this size for anything near this price!
Victor was an excellent host, responsive and willing to offer suggestions if you ask. He doesn't live on site but is always available by email. We've had 8 reunions and enjoyed our stay here as much or more than the others and if we don't outgrow the listed occupancy, we're sure to return!
The location is easy to travel to and there are plenty of things in the immediate area around Gainesville.

My family had lots of fun during our stay. The house needs a real good thorough cleaning and a new cleaning company. It also needs a more reliable garbage pickup company. Overall a enjoyable stay.

Thank you Victor for allowing us to stay in your home. We had a group of 26 adults flying in from California for my daughter's wedding. The space is absolutely enormous. There were times where it was hard to find someone else in the house. There were places we could gather and play games, and quiet alcoves you could sit and relax. I woke up every day to the beautiful view of the sun rising over the lake. Every room is huge. Every bedroom feels like a master bedroom, and the actual master is bigger than a small home. On one rainy day, we set up a games decathalon in the various rooms (pool, foosball, ping pong, and poker are all different rooms). The pool and spa were a big hit with the spa seating more than a dozen people at the same time. Having the space to spread out was amazing. Victor's check in and check out guidlelines were very clear and we had no issues following them. The house was clean and well kept (a loose knob or faulty fixture here and there, but c'mon this house is HUGE). We had an amazing time and the house exceeded all of our expectations. Thank you again, Victor. We look forward to coming back.

This made my third return to this property…. It’s an amazing house with lots of space. We always have such a great time when we are there. Never a need or a want to leave. Victor is great to work with.

Our one-week stay was full of magical and unforgettable moments, with sunrises seen from the living room, walks with the songs of the birds, breakfasts on the balcony , talks around the fire pit, videos in the movie theater and number of meetings in every corner of this enchanted palace.
4.3
Our group of eleven loved everything about our stay. The gang also spent a week in 2019. The place is fabulous. There is something for everyone without ever leaving the property. First of all it is huge. Secondly, between the pool, theatre, awesome decks, and game rooms, you should never be bored. If you are not quite sure about the property I would say take the leap and do it. You will be amazed. Positively, Guaranteed!!

This is a gorgeous home. It was ideal for our size party, 12 men. However, this home is in need of some TLC. We were on a golf outing/fantasy football draft and needed internet to make it happen. The cable router quit working and the replacement never came. Victor got us in touch with ATT to talk through the issue, but for the kind of money this place costs, internet access should not be an issue. Ever! Lots of bugs and other critters in the house, mold on the shower caulk, door handles missing or falling off, etc. If this were my investment, I would offer a crew of handyman to live rent free for a few months and knock out all the things that need attention.

Michael Grady & New Gulf Coast Choir was amazed after entering this spectacular property that provided so many wonderful activities for people of all ages. there was 25 of us ranging from ages 12 to 71. The outside view was absolutely phenomenal. The bedrooms as well as the baths were above our expectations. May I also add that the pool was a hit with our entire group. Victor was very accommodating and polite .
Therefore, if you and your business, family or just a group of friends are looking for a great getaway may I suggest this Chateau! Again, I say try it out you will not be disappointed.

Family reunion vacation week with children and grandmother. I hate to leave a review like this but it’s not for the host it’s for future guests. You would have no idea from the pictures how very bad this rental really is. It’s a big beautiful home that is in disrepair
The host would not give me his cell number and I asked for it 3 times just in case there were any problems when checking in. And we had major problems upon checking in. The only way to try and communicate with this host was email. It took 4 hours before we got a response
Day #1 host turns off the water remotely at 5:00 am. There was no water in the home until 10:00 am. The pool did not work because the water level was way below the skimmers and had to be filled by us. The pool was also green and needed to be cleaned. We had 24 people with no water.
The TV’s did not work for the entire week. We had children but we overcame this inconvenience
There were cockroaches in all rooms and fire ants all over the outside of the home
The ceiling leaked when it rained.
The kitchen is very dirty. There is a huge griddle with a fan in the kitchen. Very nice except for the fact it’s so dirty it constantly drips grease onto the counter. Even when not using.
The pool is big and nice except for the fact it was very dirty and the water level was low. I stated this above but the big issue is the fact there were no chairs next to the pool. Nothing to sit on. We had to purchase 7 chairs so we could sit by the pool.
The ice machine did not work
The big green egg was so dirty it was unusable
Victor is the host of this vacation rental and he was just awful. No communication and he could care less.
I could go on and on about the quality of this home but I’ll end it here.
Renter beware!

The house is amazing! It truly felt like living in a castle. There were 24 members of my family staying at the house and there was plenty of room for everyone. With several sitting areas, it was easy to find a quiet spot to read or do work. The large gathering rooms had lots of space for eating, cooking, playing games, and having fun together. The bedrooms are spacious. The pool was used every day. The house has so many activities it is not necessary to go out and it is so large that there are some rooms we never used.
On the down side, the spa never did work correctly. The wifi is not reliable so my nephew went to a local Starbucks when he had to work. The bathroom wallpaper could use a little refreshing.
All in all, it is an amazing house. My family is definitely considering coming back to stay.

While the house is lovely, we were very disappointed with our stay. Many of the amenities promised are not functioning. The hot tub doesn't work at all, the satellite tv wasn't working for the first 3 days of our stay until they came out and moved the dish because the trees hadn't been trimmed, the wireless connected, but provided no internet access - so make sure you bring hot spots and plenty of cell data, the pool filter stopped working mid week and it took three days to clear the pool so we could use it, neither the icemaker in the freezer nor the bar area were working, there were broken windows in one of the bedroom and it never cooled to a comfortable temperature, and the downstairs patio leaks and overall, the place is dirty. A few other things to note, the gentle slope to the main level is actually a rocky hill - not suitable for the disabled and the stairs are steep. And the photos make this look like a waterfront property., it is not. Lake access is only from the park down the road a bit.

Renaissance Over the Lake was great as far as space for all of us and the swimming pool was really the saving grace. Since this property is only "lake view", the children spent much time there. However, there were a lot of little things that didn't add up to "luxury":1. We stayed 4 nights and 2 of the four nights 4 of the 9 bedrooms were 87 degrees hot! We called the manager(?) and he did send a technician out the next day. However, only the master bedroom on the main level got cooled.2. The windows in the great room leaked water and we had to put towels in the sills.3. 2 door handles (one in the kitchen and one in a 1/2 bath) literally fell off.4. The house needs to be painted (paint peeling on the windows).5. The spa did not work most of the time.6. 2 bathroom sinks were stopped up7. I don't think the porches/patios had been cleaned for a while. There were lots of cobwebs with lots of roaches, etc. dead in them.8. The red ants were everywhere!! The children didn't play in the yard because of them. A routine pest control plan should be in place.9. We were charged for a broken light over the billiard table. We didn't break even a glass, but, of course, couldn't prove it.I've decided that the 1st hour after checking in should be spent taking pictures of everything in every room to document the condition of the house. 10. Since the kitchen door handle was defunct, we couldn't even lock that door when we did check out.Despite all the above problems, we did enjoy being together. However, we will not be returning to the Renaissance.

Large family gathering for memorial service of our mother. Perfect number of bedrooms and baths. Hose is very large and perfect set up or families with teens etc. house could use some TLC for sure but the pool was absolutely the hit.

Overall the stay was fine. The home however was not cleaned, one toilet was clogged and we had to finish the initial load of laundry that was not completed upon arrival.

If you are planning a multi family or large friend gathering north of Atlanta in the Lake Lanier area, please give this house a look. The owner, Victor, was great to work with and we had a total of 16 guys at the house for a yearly golf outing, all with our own beds and lots of bathrooms too. The house was a great setup for us with a full kitchen, pizza oven, spa/hot tub, roulette table and many other amenities. While the house is fairly remote (not super close to any night life) it was close enough to some local restaurants and Publix for the essentials. The house is very spacious and our group was able to enjoy ourselves with some nightly poker at the large dining room table and other activities at the house - disc golf, pool table, etc. I would definitely recommend the home and working with Victor.

In September, we stayed at the property for 6 days. The pictures looked fantastic, the grounds very well kept, and we couldn’t wait to get our vacation started. We asked if we could get into the property a little early and we were unable to which we understood! However, upon arrival, the cleaning crew was still present and the owner related it to extra cleaning because of COVID. However, neither of the 2 cleaning staff were wearing gloves or masks. They finished about an hour after promised check-in and there were very obvious things that were missed – utensils sitting out on the counter, unclean linens (that needed to be washed prior to using), hairspray caps on the floor of a bedroom, etc. The WiFi was also spotty throughout the house. If more than 4 people were on it, there was a severe lag making it essentially useless. Additionally, there was only one, very small TV in the nook right off the kitchen. There was a movie theatre room, however, it would have been nice to have more TVs that were placed throughout the property.Once we unloaded groceries, we noticed the refrigerator was leaking. We messaged the property owner and he said it’s nothing to be concerned about. From there, we had a variety of issues each day including but not limited to; broken bedroom window, exteriors doors off the kitchen not locking, cockroaches found (alive and dead) in 3 of the bedrooms, a mouse in the pantry (as evidenced from holes chewed in packaged food items), and more. The pool area was also left unclean –a shot glass, champagne flute, a dead bird on the porch by the pool were all found. While we realize the property is large, the cleaning was below subpar and something that would make us not return to the property. The property was great for hosting large parties, very secluded, with beautiful views, however, it’s not a place you’d want to stay at for an extended period of time.

Wrong address given by VRBO. The owner of the actual property that we rented straightened all out. But the property that we rented (which is the one we wanted) is listed on-VRBO as being in Buford ga, while the property is actually outside of Gainesville. Could be a huge issue to some.

The Renaissance Over Lanier is spectacular!!! We booked the mansion for my 1st visit to ATL and to celebrate my husbands 50th birthday. We were a group of 17 on site guest( mainly couples) and 8 additional off site guest , although the house sleeps 30. During this COVID 19 -climate we wanted everyone to be comfortable. There was well over more than enough space for everyone to social distance. This property is actually 1hour out from Hartsfield ATL Airport and is in Gainesville, not Buford( as listed)- this should be changed on the listing. The accommodations were cozy and the views breathtaking . The mansion has everything you need 10 bedrooms ,9 bathrooms, a large gourmet kitchen , multiple fireplaces , multiple game rooms and various seating areas for entertaining. We were even able to transform on of the rooms into an area for my hubby’s formal 50th Dinner Party Celebration. The Renaissance over Lanier is exactly as pictured if not more. Views of the lake and rear grounds are stunning & picturesque. Communication time with the host before our stay was generally 24 hours , but while there we had immediate access via phone. He answered all questions. Only concern we had was one unannounced visit that was perceived as an invasion of privacy. He did state he would be coming over to move his RV ,which is located on the grounds . However, when he came he came into the house unannounced. When you book a property it’s for the guest during that rental. We could have been undressed or anything and that might not have been a pleasant encounter. I would suggest he call before entry. Only other suggestions I would have for the host is to upgrade the linens. They are dated and some have a few stains. Over all the house was very clean. In summary, everything was outstanding except for the unannounced entry. My hubby will never forget his 50th birthday !!! We’d love to rent again during the summer months when we could enjoy the outdoor spa and pool. It was too cold this time. Overall rating 4.5!!!
