We loved the architecture and history behind this grand old home. The Amethyst Inn was also well-located and in a lovely quiet neighbourhood.

Beautiful setting and amazingly well-preserved, well appointed and comfortable room, and a feeling of history. Lovely to sit in the parlour with tea and a fire.
The included breakfast was beyond expectations! Delicious!
Our host was warm and engaging and welcoming - made us feel like old friends.
Nothing to complain about!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the inn. The inn is decorated beautifully and is very charming. The room was wonderful and the bathroom was great too. The breakfast was incredible and the staff were so lovely.
Unfortunately a bit of noise from the pipes from nearby rooms when other guests would shower.

The provided breakfast was amazing and the beds are comfortable it's a beautiful historic house
Lots of stairs no choice at breakfast. not all the rooms have showers. Lighting also isn't the best just a lot of lamps

The quiet ambience and beautiful antique decor! I literally felt like I was stepping back in time! Lots of parking on the estate lot so no need to find parking on or around Fort Street.
No complaints

This place is stunning, I assume it’s heritage protected. All the finishings seem original, and eating in the dining area feels like you’re transported back in time. The service is absolutely exceptional too. I forgot to ask her name, but the lovely girl at the front desk oversaw our breakfast service flawlessly on day 1. And, when we told her not to worry about preparing food for us on day 2 as we had an early ferry, she took it upon herself to have our breakfast prepared early and kept in our room’s mini fridge. She was so lovely, and she made our stay even better.
Nothing of note, it is a bit of a drive to get into town but only 10 mins or so

We loved the room. The breakfast was out standing.
The 68 stairs from the parking lot to our room.
This place is for the under 40 crowd. I’m in my 60s and my wife is 75+. We both had a very difficult time. This is definitely an unfriendly property for the elderly and disabled. It should note the tremendous amount of stairs!

Oh my - if you want to spend a night feeling like royalty, this is the place! Have you ever slept in a covered 4-poster bed? I had no idea how high it was!
This almost 140-year-old house is spectacular with a grand staircase, and sitting rooms, and the furniture and interior decorations are items from a house of this era.
The only modern part of the room is in the washroom which is where the refrigerator is - and should be. It would be an eyesore next to a gorgeous 4-poster bed!
Oh and if that isn't enough for you to book this experience right away - the full breakfast was absolutely wonderful! Served in the dining room and included first-course fruit, scones, and a main dish. I could not believe that they even had a full breakfast vegan option! I was able to eat a fresh vegan scone too.
This was definitely a 10-star experience!
We loved the grand-staircase - but it's important to know that you do need to climb up stairs to your room.

always the best B&B to stay in Victoria
my only problem was that we stayed there with our family so three rooms in total and we got one of the rooms outside the building :(

We have stayed once before at the Amethyst Inn. It is a magical Place - steeped in Victoria’s history, the staff are friendly and helpful and the beds are super-comfortable! My husband loved the breakfast. I was there for a procedure, so couldn’t eat.
There was a wonderful large fridge in our room, but I would have liked an individual kettle. Even though hot water is available downstairs it is a long way to go when you are on the top floor without a lift!

Overall I would enthusiastically recommend this B&B to friends and family. Inn was charming, quiet. Breakfasts were mostly delicious. Short drive (<10 min) to city center and other sights (even walkable, though we opted to drive in). Really a pleasant experience.
We were in the Rendezvous room, which was perfect for a family of three (our 4-year-old child slept on the pull-out loveseat). Room was comfortable. Mini fridge was a nice touch. Note: no standing shower in the bathroom. Staff was helpful when we had wifi issues. Breakfast was a three-course meal (parfait, baked good, hot meal)! Most of the breakfast offerings were delicious.
Sometimes staff weren't immediately available when we had quick questions. Breakfast was mostly delicious, but confusing at times: We weren't clear whether we were able to request anything different from what was offered (eggs benedict one day, french toast another, omelette the third). On one day we were invited to request anything for our child; other days she was given the standard offering. They remembered my dietary restriction two of the days, forgot the third. I would've liked to have a preview/menu of offerings so we can opt into the full multi-course meal or request something smaller—but they made accommodations whenever guests asked. So, just ask!

I like the historical furniture in the building. I feel like it took me back to the days. It's a good place to introduce the history to my daughter. I also love the tea set they use for the breakfast.
Some corners are not very clean. I see spider webs. When I walk in the building, it's not smell very well in the lobby. But the room smells good.

Beautiful place, delicious breakfast, nice bathtub, European feeling, very comfortable bed
As soon as we entered the inn there was an overwhelming smell of mustiness and old cigarette smoke. This permeated the entire building. I'm sure that it has been smoke-free for many years, but perhaps the hot weather brought out the smell. Our third floor room was also uncomfortably warm despite ceiling and floor fans. Better fans should have been provided, or a window air conditioner installed. I loved the historic feeling, but some of the furniture was just old and beat up. Finally, we didn't consider the distance from the inn to the downtown/waterfront area. Without a car, this meant numerous bus and cab trips, and one long walk. So not recommended if you don't have a car.

Stayed 2 nights and breakfasts were exceptional! Delicious, abundant servings on special dinnerware. Eggs Benedict (2 servings) had excellent hollandaise sauce. The French toast served the next morning were covered abundantly with fresh fruit. Both mornings started you off with a generous serving of fresh yogurt topped with fresh berries, mango chunks, granola. Excellent coffee refilled to your heart’s desire. Comfortable and delightful atmosphere beautifully decorated with antique furnishings and stained windows. Relaxing music in the background creates a feeling of peace and comfort. Excellent service! Bed and room were very comfortable! Huge washroom too!
Wouldn’t change a thing!
