Pure relaxation in beautiful settings. The spa was beautifully designed with lots of nooks to escape to relax and be quiet but also fabulous pools, steam room, sauna. Stayed one night, completely chilled out.
3.0
Room was clean and bathroom
Half the jets in pools don't work. Not enough lighting on entry to see where you need to go for reception.
4.0
Beautiful location with room overlooking lawns
I asked for a quiet room due to working nights and sleeping in the mornings. The room I had was next to a slamming door. The staff came into my room even though I locked it from the inside to clean whilst I was trying to sleep - waking me up. There was no information in the room about the facilities, breakfast times etc.
3.0
Facilities and breakfast was excellent .
Rooms need fresh paint and modern bathrooms

Beautiful property and grounds. The staff were helpful and friendly. The food was hit or miss, very healthy and I appreciated that but my fiancé didn’t.
The bed was so uncomfortable and hard and the pillows too. I want to rate it higher but I went there to relax and unwind, a couple hundred on massages but left with a stiff neck due to the uncomfortable bed/pillow. Hard to overlook that aspect.
Our bathroom shower was FULL of mould that could easily be removed with 1 pound bottle of bleach.
Apart from the mouldy shower the room and bathroom were generally clean and the room nicely decorated.
The spa facilities- were a lot better a few years ago. The sauna was out of order. The facilities per the amount of people using them don’t add up. The steam room is tiny and when we were in there- all 7 of us- there were people having a very loud work related conversation about working remotely vs office working- in such a small room it was incredibly annoying. The same thing happened in the quiet room jacuzzis. Group of people talking loudly about work. All the jacuzzi’s were luke warm , and the thalassotherapy pool was also luke warm. It was a chilly day and this was a buzz kill.
Lastly, the food. It’s really hit or miss. Like I said above.

Lovely location and grounds
As we’d booked on Booking.com you don’t get your room til 5. We needed to drop our bags and change to go to an event. Even though they told us our room was ready they wouldn’t let us access it at all unless we paid £70pp extra. So ended up having to change in the loos! Not brilliant - especially as we were going out and not using facilities etc. when we were discussing this at reception someone else came up asking to speak to the manager as they’d just experienced rudeness from a member of staff. So it sort of set the tone for the stay! Lap pool is quite tired and dilapidated. Other faculties looked good (though we didn’t have time to use them)

Stunning grounds
The staff, whilst friendly, need training in "hospitality". The hotel is just a little "tired".
3.0
Beautiful pools and spa. Great food and staff was nice!
Bathroom- toilet not flushing, tap leaking, not enough towels.
Eating- cafe offered cake on a napkin with no fork.
Paying extra for facilities was very expensive for what you offer.
5.0
it was very spacious & location was beautiful & peaceful.
I liked everything!
4.0
Nice location but it’s a leisure place first, hotel second. Doing this B&B as the staff called let you see a lot of Champneys at better price
Not everything was open, prices were different for facilities than advertised on Booking and there was quite a bit of refurbishment work going on
2.5
gardens, spa area
-swimming pool had mould in corner
- it’s impossible to speak with any staff in advance about bookings. they do not reply to emails
- check in was was slow
- I had a stomach upset after the dinner
2.5
The green space.
The old building with signs of wear and tear!
4.5
Great spa and comfortable surrounding. Great dinner and Breakfast.
Unfortunately very poor Internet in our room and no Smart TV functionality.
2.5
Fantastic staff in the restaurant. Manager was faultless
Really really needs some maintenence. Certain doors I have notice have needed adjusting for over 3 years...
Spin dryers inoperative in pool

Some of the staff were hospitable.
Beds, failed to clean, cobwebs etc.
4.0
The treatments and facilities
The restaurant manager.
2.5
the hotel was lovely, facilities were good and rooms were spacious and comfortable
The food was disappointing the restaurant let it down. we also only had one towel in the bathroom for a room booked for two.

standard room was comfortable and spacious
spa is great
nice building and grounds

4.5
it’s close to home and facilities are great
our room had a broken toilet and was changed quickly. there are lots of extra costs that aren’t so clear when booking via booking.com
2.5
The old part of property is beautiful and the fire a lovely place to sit
It's irritating to have to keep returning to main reception, at least twice in 3 days I had to leave the pool or spa area to towel because they'd run out at other receptions and then you get a very thin towel and staff are a little irritated when you ask for a 2nd. Also I arrived at 5pm and wanted a snack but nothing at all was available just a main set dinner
2.5
beautiful surroundings and the spa is pretty big
spa is slightly dirty - only gets cleaned once a day
which is bad given how many people use it!
VERY understaffed - slow service!
dinner and lunch they’re a bit more attentive.
i think champneys is going bust as used to be better
rooms are average (dated)
very expensive (loads of additional costs - this is how they make their money and lure you in!) seems cheap at first but in reality it isn’t.
always overcrowded - they allow too many day visitors to enter
cafe is hugely overpriced!
Herts spa is better than the kent one (kent is FILTHY!) never again.
had a nice time but only really because I was with my partner who always makes my day(s)
2.5
The surroundings, gardens with furniture dotted around was beautiful.
The dinner was excellent - the staff in the restaurant were friendly.
There are huge parts that are very run down - non more so than our room.
The floor on the shower room I felt like I was going to fall through at any time, the decor was tired and outdated. This included the communal areas around the room - poor given prestige and money we had paid.
The spa facilities were average.
The steam room was "cold" to the point where everyone was in the sauna and again didn't have a wow factor as other places for similar money.
3.0
Always inviting. very comfortable and easy to relax while staying.
Only dislike was the sink in the bathroom of my room was very badly cracked. Not the usual standard that I had been used to when staying at Tring. I have stayed on many occasions.
2.0
Parking, grounds, location, spa
Hopeless staff, poorly organised, no air con in bedrooms and whole place getting tatty.
1.0
The bed
The bathroom needs maintenance. There was a leak .
It smelled of damp . The tiles were coming away
The side of the bath was loose
There was only one towel
The tv kept pixelating so was unwatchable
The staff were not helpful at all with a poor attitude . Unfriendly and
