Our time at Fondo Caprile was a dream! Nestled in the Tuscan countryside, this villa exceeded our expectations & provided the perfect blend of comfort & authentic Italian charm. We were struck by the villa’s breathtaking setting, surrounded by rolling hills, lush vineyards, & olive groves. The interior of the villa was exquisite. The living room has a comfy & perfectly placed couch for lounging & conversation. One of the highlights of our stay was the outdoor spaces. The Tuscan Window, as we called it, was perfect for meals & views. The pool was an absolute delight, offering a refreshing escape.Just a short drive from the charming town of Cortona, we had easy access to restaurants, shops, & historical sites. The villa also served as a great base for day trips to other Tuscan gems like Assisi & Montepulciano. What truly made our stay unforgettable was the exceptional hospitality of our hosts. They went above & beyond to ensure our comfort, providing excellent recommendations for local dining & activities, & were always available to assist with any requests. They provided a thorough house book equipped with everything we needed to plan our stay. I can truly say this information shaped our trip into fabulous day trips & unforgettable meals. The combination of stunning natural beauty & outstanding hospitality created a perfect retreat. We left with wonderful memories. The villa is a true gem, & I cannot recommend it highly enough to anyone seeking an unforgettable Tuscan escape.

This property is in a gorgeous setting up on a hill overlooking Tuscan hills and the town of Cortona.
The house is spacious and beautifully renovated. It is furnished and decorated with a mix of old and new. I loved the brick floors. The kitchen is modern and roomy. We hired a chef one night and he was impressed with both the space and the tools for cooking. The bathrooms are a good size and modern. The beds are comfortable. The living spaces worked well for children and adults with sturdy, comfortable furniture. The pool is exceptional! The grandchildren wanted to just swim all the time. The view from the pool is impressive. The grounds are manicured with flowers blooming. The owner was easily available through the VRBO app. She generously answered all of our many questions. A truly magical place!

Beautiful villa with stunning scenery, exactly as in photos! Could not fault equipment and utilities in villa especially in kitchen. Felt as if we were stepping into a home rather than a rental property! Spent most evenings after meals enjoying the views from the outside dining area!
As others previously mentioned the single track road leading to the villa was longer than we anticipated and at the latter end approaching villa is steep with two hairpin bends to negotiate but the view is worth it!
The pool area was gorgeous even though weather was cooler than average for June and we could not make use of pool as much as we would have liked, we still enjoyed area to relax. A very enjoyable break for four generations of our family.

The house was perfect! The pictures don’t do it justice for how beautiful it really is. We went in June when everything was in bloom and it was a perfect vacation. We were a group of 9 friends who love to cook and loved the pizza oven and local markets. We hung out by the pool daily and went wine tasting with a driver recommended in the house book. We had dinner cooked for us in the house one night by Denise and it was amazing! We rented e-bikes and tackled the driveway (which is not for the faint of heart) but had a wonderful time exploring the area on the bikes. The hotel at the bottom of the driveway is a must visit as well! Overall the house is amazing and fully equipped for a large group who loves to cook and enjoy a beautiful pool! Perfect vacation!

What a beautiful place to enjoy Christmas with family. The villa is beautiful, comfortable and has a well stocked kitchen with everything you could need.
The views are amazing and we watched the New Year fireworks from the sitting room.
Denise did an amazing job buying all of our groceries for our arrival.
Mieke is a wonderful host - responsive and patient, answering all of our questions.
We hope to come back in the summer one day.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. It is very spacious and has stunning views of the Tuscan countryside and Cortona. The caretakers are very responsive to any question or request -- we just used Google Translate & WhatsApp to connect with them. It is a bit of a drive to get up to the property over gravel roads -- not a complaint, just the nature of the property -- so your car will get very dirty over time. It takes about 20 minutes to get into Cortona and park if you're headed there. Finally, there are a couple of excellent fine dining options nearby (Villa Piazzano & La Corte Dei Papi) if you want a date night away from your full group. We would definitely consider staying here again if we are in the area.

What a place. The photos do a good job at depicting how pretty the house is, full of old charm and remodelled for modern living. What the pictures don’t tell is how large the house is and how truly magnificent the views are. We particularly loved the breezy pergola for meals and hanging out and the pool deck.
Owner and propery manager are lovely and easy to communicate with.
The location is great too, a short distance to beautiful Cortona and easy day trips to Siena and Arezzo.
Our group had a fantastic time and we highly recommend this property.

The house is as-advertised and the location in Tuscany is ideal. We enjoyed a wonderful family holiday and thoroughly enjoyed Cortona and all that Tuscany has to offer. It was very easy to work with the owners, who are gracious. The house manager is lovely, but only speaks Italian so be prepared. Highly recommend Villa Caprile.

This Villa is well cared for and managed. It is breathtaking and represents all that is Tuscan beauty. The rooms are simple yet elegant, the kitchen is well equipped, and the pool is clean and refreshing. Our family was able to relax and enjoy the amazing view each day. I hope to be able to return again to this wonderful place.

What an excellent house to stay in! Absolutely beautiful and the most perfect setting. Extremely well equipped.
Like others, I would echo that the hairpin gravelled drive up to the house is not for the faint hearted and it was only just possible in our VW campervan. We have suggested to the owners that they mention this in the initial advertisement for the house rental, as we only received information that the drive was difficult in the house manual one week before we arrived. Apart from this, a really perfect experience.

Fondo Caprile is exactly as pictured and more. Spacious, gracious, comfortable. Beautifully updated, but with lots of character. The views are gorgeous, the blending of indoor and outdoor space is fantastic, and it's outfitted with everything you need. Others have noted that the drive up is pretty rigorous and it is, it's definitely not for the faint of heart. But once you are there you will have no regrets. Loved our stay.

The location and accommodations are perfect for a family. Nestled in the Italian countryside providing easy access to the nearby renaissance villages, art and landscapes and the people of Italy. The accommodations that Mieke has provided will only put a smile on your face.

Vacationed in this villa for one week with another family. We were 9 people living in the villa and it was enough space for all! The Villa lies on a mountain making the driving up a bit of a challenge however once you arrived at villa Caprile it is worth it! In addition to its picturesque views, the landscaping was very well maintained, the pool was cleaned every morning, and Denise welcomed us with pleasure. The outside eating area was perfect for the nice breeze. There was fan air conditioning in every room which was a plus. Loved all the accommodations such as the speakers, TV. Very ideal location also!

Wonderful Stay!
We loved everything about this beautiful villa. Dianne did an amazing job restoring this home - not one detail was overlooked! The property and view is simply stunning, and we loved that it was so easy to explore the area and come home to a refreshing dip in the pool. It was VERY hot when were in Italy but always a nice breeze on top of the hill. If you are looking for privacy - you will find it here. *Tip - use GPS coordinates.
I would highly recommend this property for family gatherings - the house is very well laid out with plenty of bathrooms, and space to relax. We truly cherished our stay, and would return in a minute!

Wonderful villa!
Diane was a great VRBO host, extremely communicative, helpful with the booking, referring us to local tour companies and cooking classes, in home dining, etc. The villa itself has stunning views and is only 10 minutes from Tye town of Cortona. There are several wineries within a short drive. We had both adults and kids in our party. The kids loved swimming every night in the pool after a day of touring. The driveway to the property is curvy and steep so that is one thing to be aware of, but overall we had a wonderful time!

Nearly perfection!
This was a luxurious, comfortable and spacious home for 2 glorious weeks! Everything is well thought out with many extras that only a real homeowner occupant would think to do. The beds are comfortable, the bedrooms spacious, the kitchen well appointed, the grounds attended, the pool crystalline, and the weather cooperated fully on our visit. We cooked here every night save one, and even fired up the pizza oven twice! Great fun!

Wonderful property and situation and pool. Need to be warned of steep drive with hairpin bends .
Property beautifully renovated with a simple restrained elegance so aesthetically superb. Functionally good too. Works well. Loved the separate annexe with monkish bare beauty and the outdoor eating area and poolside. A niggle: Would like more mugs as only 9 for a property that sleeps 11 and so no slack for dishwasher and only tiny cups for expresso and no tea cups. Do think that we should have been warned about steep drive as not really suitable for bicycles and small cars. We were lucky to have been allocated a jeep at rental.
Situation magnificent in every way. You could go nowhere and still enjoy beauty all day. but Cortona a perfect town and Pergo delightful. And cities further afield easily reachable.
Night jars at night and the purring of the turtle dove during the day plus plenty of Jays and green woodpeckers, Fireflies at night entranced us all as they rose from the gorge next the fence. We wanted simplicity and we could have it but if one wanted to entertain royally one could. Plenty of warnings about cost of electricity but still shocked at 166 euros surcharge when we only used washing machine twice and dishwasher once daily and no pool heating. 3 families so can't police all electric light consumption. Lots of useful information and an immediate response from Antonella for any problem.
Would love to go again

60 th birthday party
We had a wonderful celebration at Villa Caprile. I was there for 12 days in May 2018, the first half with family and the second half with friends. The house is beautifully laid out for a maximum of 12 people with six bedrooms each having their own ensuite. The bedrooms are all far enough from the kitchen that you won't hear people making breakfast in the morning. The stone floors are quiet so you also won't hear the insomniacs wandering around in the night.
Antonella prepared a delicious dinner for us on two nights and we hired Toscana e Gusto for a cooking lesson and meal preparation on two other nights. All fantastic meals.
The villa is up a steep hill with a narrow winding road and none of us were prepared to make the drive in the dark so we ate lunches out and dinner in each night. One evening we picked up pizza from down the hill and it was pretty good.
A beautiful home with beautiful views and ambiance.

Glorious hilltop retreat
Villa Caprile was an ideal spot for a dream family vacation with family and friends. Gorgeous views, great location for day trips into Florence, Assisi, Cortona, Siena and other lovely Tuscan towns. Dianne's recommendations for dining and experiences were spot on, especially the lunch at Avigonesi Vineyards and dinner at Canta Napoli. The home is beautifully decorated, bedrooms large and bathrooms well-appointed. Antonella was very helpful and a fine cook, and somehow we communicated ( definitely get the Google translation app). A great choice.

All around fantastic location for a special family gathering
I cannot say more wonderful things about our stay at unforgettable and authentic Villa Caprile. From the drive up to hill to the home the first evening to the moment we departed we made such unbelievable memories at this amazing home celebrating my fathers 60th birthday. The layout of the home is perfect for a large group that included adults and small children. Our highlights were dining al fresco overlooking the spectacular sunsets while enjoying a meal prepared by expert caretaker Antonella, the many swims in the gorgeous pool we had on hot summer days and playing in the yard with my children as the sun was setting enjoying a delicious glass of local Sangiovese. Dianne was the ultimate help in planning our trip and balancing relaxing at the villa with a few unforgettable excursions and meals. Her help and guidance really made our trip and the unbelievable service of Antonella and the other amazing staff made our stay comfortable and enjoyable. We already said we want to return for my Dad's 70th.... but hopefully before then!
Do yourself a favor and book this beautiful villa, you will not regret it and I sit here dreaming of our stay.

Beautiful, comfortable, relaxing, and Italian countryside
What a beautiful home full of comfort and authenticity. We thoroughly enjoyed our two week stay at Villa Caprile. The property, the house, the pool, all the accommodations met or exceeded our expectations. Our children teenagers and younger felt so at home, and we all enjoyed our stay. It was so wonderful to have this home to return to after short or long day trips to some of the most amazing places and towns that are all around. The location could not have been more perfect for the trip we planned. Thank you Dianne and Antonella and all the caretakers of the property for all your care and recommendations.

This home exceeded our expectations.
We were five couples sharing this home and had lots of privacy as well as large rooms to accommodate our cooking and mealtime together.
It is a quiet and serene setting with beautiful views of Cortona and the valley below.
We would visit neighbouring Tuscan towns in the day returning to the Villa in the afternoon to relax and enjoy the pool which was pristine.
Hope to return some day!!

A magnificent hillside villa on the Tuscan-Umbria border.
A dream of mine had been to take my family to Europe for a summer once the kids were old enough (now 8, 8 and 10) to really appreciate a foreign country and its culture. As part of the experience, we stayed in large cities (Rome and Florence), small cities (Lucca) and finished our trip with two wonderful weeks relaxing at Villa Caprile. It was the perfect ending to a wonderful summer. The villa is absolutely stunning with views that pictures and words cannot describe. My favourite thing to do was to walk around the corner from the pool into the outdoor kitchen where the view that came into focus just takes your breath away. And that outdoor kitchen!!! We sat and had dinner and drinks and talked for hours - just like in the Tuscan movies. The house itself is absolutely incredible and is perfectly set up for larger familes. During our stay we had several family members drop in for a couple days to stay with us for a couple nights and each bedroom has its own full bath and is very well separated from the main living area of the house - providing plenty of privacy when needed. It was the perfect Tuscan experience. It was also a great jumping off point for trips to some of the most beautiful and historic towns in Italy- Cortona, Siena, Pienza, Assisi, San Gimignano, Multepulciano, Arezzo, and much much more. All easy day trips from the Villa with plenty of time to get back and relax at the pool at the end of the day. Lastly, both Dianne (the owner) and Antonella (the caretaker) were absolutely incredible during our stay. Both responding in minutes (yes minutes) to even the smallest question we had and we really appreciated it.

Perfect family getaway on a hill with a view!
Set in the hills just outside Cortona, with a gorgeous view of the town and surrounding countryside, this is a perfect retreat for a family or group of friends. It is the perfect combination of a large, yet comfortable and private villa just minutes from romantic Cortona and surrounding villages. I was happy to delegate all shopping and cooking to the owner provided cook - freeing up my time to see the sights, relax with the kids around the pool, enjoy an afternoon "reposo" (nap) or enjoy a glass of wine with my husband and watch the sun go down over Cortona - while someone else does all the work in the kitchen! The spacious property (six large, airy bedrooms, including a separate "owners annexe") also includes a choice of outdoor cooking options (including BBQ and a wood fired pizza oven) giving the men no excuse for not sharing in preparation of family meals! As a busy mom, this is truly the most relaxing vacation I have had in years - and I know my hubbie and kids loved it too - they are clamoring for a return next year. We are checking our calendars already!

Lovely luxury villa
We enjoyed a wonderful week-long stay at Villa Caprile with extended family. The house is nestled on a beautiful hillside with views of the valley below. It's well appointed and spacious - perfect for large groups. We enjoyed meals cooked by Antonella on the outdoor pergola and evening horse-shoe tournaments. My kids enjoyed lazy days by the pool and catching butterflies on the expansive lawn. We could have spent the entire week at the villa, but day trips to Cortona and Siena were well worth our while. What a lovely place!

Amazing villa, great views, perfect location!
An authentic Tuscan experience in a well appointed, spacious villa just a few minutes drive from Cortona. Set on a hill surrounded by it's extensive garden, pool area, olive groves and vineyard, the views of Cortona are spectacular. At the suggestion of the owner, we had a cook (Antonella, who lives in a village just below the villa) shop and prepare meals for us - she entranced us with simple but delicious recipes including the freshest local produce! Cortona itself is of course magical, being less than ten minutes drive away - but it was a relief to return to our peaceful, romantic villa refuge after hot days of shopping and sight-seeing in Cortona and surrounding areas! We cant wait to return next summer!

Beautiful Villa and perfect for a large group.
We just spent 3 weeks at this beautiful villa with friends and family. Celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary, we invited 10 people each week to spend 7 days with us. This villa met all our expectations. The layout could not have been better with each bedroom having it's own bathroom. I spent many, many hours searching for a villa that would work for our group and Villa Caprile was perfect.
One of the highlights of our 3 weeks was having Antonella cook for us. She prepared 3 to 4 meals each week for us and everyone loved each one of them.
Diane, the owner, was very prompt and very helpful in all our communications. She was always available to answer any questions and give recommendations. She has done a beautiful job renovating this villa.
I would certainly recommend this villa to anyone that wants to experience an unforgettable vacation.

Amazing vacation house!
I loved this beautiful house! It was very well laid out with each bedroom offering great privacy for our entire group. The decor was beautiful but comfortable. My favorite area was the pergola where we ate often. It offered an amazing view and a nice breeze. The town of Cortona was a quick drive, so we went there a few times to shop and walk around. And Snoopy's has the best Gelato ever!
When we felt like being lazy, the pool was the perfect place to relax. It had lots of lounge chairs, complete with several umbrellas for those of us who wanted shade. The property was beautiful and beautifully maintained as well. And the kitchen had everything we needed to make a quick snack or cook a full meal. All in all, we had a perfect week, and I can't wait to go back again!
