About this cottage rental
Lady Jane Grey Cottage is one of Sudeley Castle’s largest country cottages, and is named after Lady Jane Grey who lived at Sudeley Castle before her brief nine-day reign as Queen of England. This lovely cottage was originally part of a paper mill, which was restored to make two cottages and two apartments, preserving the original exposed walls and beams throughout.
This two-storey cottage has a large open plan living area on the ground floor which is split across two levels. The well-equipped kitchen is incredibly spacious and there is a desk area to catch up on work or browse your laptop to find where you'd like to spend your next day in the Cotswolds. The slightly separated sitting and dining area have plenty of space to dine together around the table or lounge in front of TV in the evenings. Two doors at the end open out into the gravelled courtyard enlarging your living space to include this handy outdoor area. Each bedroom has been well furnished with comfortable beds and storage space and the open walls throughout remind you of the history of this building. The more modern family bathroom combines these exposed walls with olive panelling and a wood effect floor.
The Sudeley Cottages are set a short walk from both the village of Winchcombe and Sudeley Castle which you must visit during your stay. Further afield Cotswold highlights including Cheltenham, Broadway and Bourton-on-the-Water are a lovely day out.

This cottage was perfectly located for us to re-discover some of the lovely villages of the Cotswolds. The proximity of Sudeley Castle and free access to it was thoroughly enjoyed. Lovely and typical cottage, spacious and perfectly clean. We had a lovely time there.

Lady Jane Grey Cottage was perfectly located to explore the Cotswolds. Bath one day. StoneHenge and Castle Combe the next and of course having access to Sudeley Castle itself was THE Highlight…. Brimming with history, intrigue and beauty. Great access to Winchcombe Village for a delicious Pub meal and brilliant Indian Cuisine. Couldn’t ask for more.

We had the most enjoyable stay at the Lady Jane Grey cottage. It was just what we needed for our stay in the Cotswolds (a comfortable, well appointed home base). It was a perfectly central location for visiting all of the lovely towns, but Winchcombe itself was one of the towns we most enjoyed. We loved spending time walking around the town and exploring Sudeley Castle (we loved that admission was included with the stay). The kids loved walking through the field with the sheep and playing on the Sudeley playground. They especially loved the obstacle course and zip line. I wouldn’t hesitate to book again; next time we’ll plan it better and stay longer!

We spent two nights here attending a wedding at Sudeley Castle. The cottage was comfortable, clean with everything you needed. Wonderful location.
I have never been to Winchcombe but most certainly will return and stay here again.

We hired two of the houses for our family Christmas - the setting and Winchcombe is a very pretty town and well worth a stay.
Very comfortable and well presented

Lady Jane Grey cottage is a spacious, comfortable space in a beautiful location. The beds are comfortable and towels and bathroom products are of a high quality. Parking is available on site and it’s a very short walk to the amenities in the town. There are numerous walks from the door into the countryside.
We thoroughly enjoyed our family get together in this lovely cottage, thank you.

Fantastic location! Walkable to shops and the complimentary access to Sudeley Castle is great! Cottage was well appointed and clean. Could use an updated mattress/pillows in the master bedroom though.

We recently stayed here for 2 nights when we attended a wedding at Sudely Castle. Lovely spacious cottage. Great location. Walking distance to the castle and the town of Winchcombe. Very clean and well equipped. Easy check in, parking on site. Was the perfect place for our stay. Would definitely recommend.

We stayed in The Lady Jane Grey cottage on the outskirts of the Sudeley Castle Estate; a 5 minute walk from Winchcombe village. The cottage was described as having ‘a private courtyard garden’, which we were looking forward to relaxing in during the evenings, once we returned from exploring The Cotswolds. However, the area was just a small, gravelled space, with a low wall, overlooking the car park, so although it was self-contained, it certainly wasn’t very private and it was quite ugly to look at. A couple of the outdoor chairs were broken, meaning we couldn’t have sat there anyway. The gate leading from the car park into the ‘courtyard’ was hanging off its hinges, which was a bit concerning safety-wise, when there are children in the party. The living area can only be described as quite drab and depressing and certainly wasn’t welcoming. The seal around the bath has gone and water is obviously leaking, as there is a large water stain coming through to the ceiling. Wardrobe in single room is broken, broken socket in the front bedroom and curtain rail needs attention in the twin room, so it was difficult to close the curtains at night. Building work is going on within the cottage estate so we were woken up around 7:30 each morning by lorries. Considering this, I feel the cottage is over-priced and the whole party of 5 were disappointed.

Nice cottage near walks, castle and pubs
We really enjoyed our stay at Lady Jane's cottage: comfortable, historic but modern redecorated. We stayed with 5 of us. We had enough space, the only thing to bear in mind is that the (only) toilet is upstairs in the bathroom. There's a lot to do starting at the cottage: make a walk in the Cotswolds, walk to Sudely castle or visit the village (only 150 meters).

Not really happy...
All communication prior to our arrival was fine! Winchcombe is extremely charming and Sudeley castle a must see!
But upon arrival we found a number of things that we had not expected:
Some of the windows did not work properly. The kitchen window could not be locked. That's why we talked to (the very kind) electrician on the premises the day after our arrival. But no repair was done while we were there.
The rim of the bathtub was rather badly broken. A big dent was in the wall next to it. The bathroom window could only be operated with force and when stepping into the bathtub. As in other rooms, it could not be positioned in the desired way since the friction was too small. We showed it all to electrician working on the premises. But no reaction from maintenance.
The bagless vacuum cleaner had not been taken care of for a long, long time. It had lost its ability to actually vaccum because it was clogged with dirt. Not a nice job to take care of, but we did it in order to be able to vacuum.
There were too few dishes for a party of 5. Also, the quality of the dishes and the silverware was rather poor for a property of this price range.
We missed instructions on how to operate the TV (not self explanatory - at least for foreigners).
What we missed most was a warning prior to our booking that Lady Grey tenants are rather unable to sleep once the tenants in the upstairs apartment wake up and start walking/jumping (kids) around.

Lovely cottage.
We had a lovely stay in a convenient setting near Winchcombe. It was great having Sudeley Castle on the doorstep. This was our second stay in these cottages.

Spotlessly clean, cosy cottage
Lovely cottage, extremely clean although the cleaning products used were very strong smelling and a little overwhelming. Everything you need is there for a comfortable stay although the curtains in the twin bedroom would not fully close. The noise from the apartment above would probably have been an issue if we had stayed longer than 2 nights as you can hear people walking around above you and their TV sounded like it was right over our double bed. We would stay again, as the location is lovely, but in a detached cottage so we weren't worried about the noise from above

Beautiful location to relax
The main attraction is Sudeley Castle and the superb gardens, they are well looked after by a small team of gardeners lead by the Head gardener Stephen Torode.

Lady Jane Grey
Great location, good value cottage. Well equipped modern kitchen with good appliances. Managing with one bathroom and no downstairs toilet was difficult, but we obviously knew this on booking, it was the only one available. The shower dripped continuously and one set of bedroom curtains had come off the runners and couldn’t be closed. However I contacted Sudeley on day 2 and someone came out to fix these things quickly. The heating was on summer setting and couldn’t be turned on, after one cold day, the excellent maintenance man kindly sorted this out as well.
Excellent parking and location, overall good value stay.We would stay at Sudeley again, but a different cottage with more than one bathroom.

Lovely stay
Perfect weekend retreat, and nicely situated so you can easily walk to Sudeley Castle or into Winchcombe. Having milk, teabags, coffee, soaps etc. was a nice touch.
Shower was too hot but we adjusted the temperature on the combi boiler and then it was fine.

Great location
Lots of great things about this cottage and complex. Large carpark at the back allowing you to park behind your cottage and unload through back entrance. Steps into Sudley castle grounds right by cottages. Getting free entry into castle is brilliant, playpark really good and the castle gardens are really nice. Castle itself was surprisingly interesting.
Outside area of cottage nice, big enough to play some games in and sit outside. Kitchen large and well equipped, we cooked a Sunday dinner in it. Winchcombe is really nice and there is a great coop to stock up on supplies.

Sudeley revisited
We have visited Sudeley castle cottages in the past and in searching for a week's break we remembered the cottages. They have enjoyed a makeover and provide a comfortable base to explore the Cotswolds. The castle is a must and we visited several times. To be recommended but had a problem with Parking in the evening at the weekend when all spaces were taken. Not sure by who but in the morning spaces were available.

Lady Jane Grey accommodation
We have just returned from a wonderful short break in Winchcombe staying in one of the Sudeley Castle Cottages - Lady Jane Grey. The location is amazing absolutely loved the cluster of cottages in an area just off Castle Street which comes off the high street in Winchcombe. Brilliant for walking into the high street (5 mins) where there is a good choice of pubs and restaurants. The accommodation was excellent - very clean and they thought of everything in providing household essentials. There are plenty of walks to keep you busy - I would certainly be returning again next year and the next !!!!

Family weekend
We had booked this cottage for a family wedding, which was them moved to later in the year due to covid restrictions. We all agreed to come anyway for a family get together, and we are very pleased that we did. The cottage was lovely and in a great location, with our family very close by in neighbouring cottages. We did have a problem with our hot water on the first morning but this was sorted very promptly. We had a meal out at The Plough Inn at Ford nearby which was great. It was very nice to have entry to the castle included in our accommodation, and we enjoyed our visit there. I lovely weekend in a lovely cottage.

A great short stay
This cottage is in a small complex of cottages right by Sudeley Castle and is nicely arranged and well equipped. There is a little courtyard garden which was private and peaceful. Everything was clean and the bedding and trowels were crisp white cotton.
The cottage is central for walks, pubs and restaurants and we visited the Castle for free which was lovely.
Would highly recommend

For the attention of Martin
The shower operation requires urgent attention for serious safety concerns. Whilst the shower is in operation at a comfortable warm temperature, the temperature repeatedly fluctuates between cold and scalding hot. It appears that water flow is the contributing factor, however, the temperature variance still occurs despite other water outlets in the cottage not being used.
It may possibly occur if the Lady Jane Grey shares water supply with an adjoining cottage or the flat above.
You may also note that there is a persistent drip in the shower.
The back door external handle rotates freely without unlocking.
The radiator in the single bed bedroom was not working.
Although the brochure advises putting material aside for recycling, recycling bins are not available.

Lovely group of self catering cottages apartments.
Lovely cottage excellent location.
Everything on hand.
Only downside: No information on rubbish recycling (food waste, so all in black sack except glass & cardboard).
No torches (when advised there should be some.

Lovely, relaxing break in Winchcombe
We had a lovely, relaxing break in Winchcombe. The cottage is on the edge of the castle grounds and the village, and it's easy to walk to both. We also went for a walk up Cleeve Hill, which is definitely worth doing. A lovely cottage in a great part of the world - we'll be back again.

Excellent stay again - beautiful setting and atmosphere !!
Gorgeous cottage !
Some housekeeping which needs sorted out - windows need cleaned urgently as not giving the
Right standard as the cottage deserves !
Dripping shower needs plumbing as will waste water !
Please take off the draw pull contraption on the curtains as they don’t work well !!! And the curtains don’t need it - they are beautiful as normal!!

A wonderful stay at Sudeley
We had a last minute booking and have had a wonderful week of walking and loved the opportunity to spend time visiting Sudeley Castle and it's beautiful gardens. Lady Jane Grey is a perfect cottage with lots of space, very well equipped and excellent heating for the cooler evenings!

Lovely cottage in excellent village location
We really enjoyed our stay in the cottage which is in an excellent location 500 yards or so from the Main Street of Winchcombe. Would definitely visit Winchcombe again with its excellent range of amenities & so many walks to do.
Only negative in respect of the cottage is that it definitely needs better quality & more comfortable outdoor seating & table - the wooden table & chairs had definitely seen better days, very rickety & with no other garden chairs, very uncomfortable if you wanted to sit out & enjoy the lovely weather for a few hours.

Lovely family holiday
We had a great holiday with our toddler and baby. The cottage was very spacious for 4 of us. The location was fantastic being only a short walk into Winchcombe centre and the castle being a pleasant walk across a field of sheep. Beautiful setting and would love to come back to visit.

lovely festive holiday
We spent a week in lady Jane Grey cottage after Christmas. To our pleasant surprise there was a Christmas tree in our livingroom. Which we thought was a really nice touch. We enjoyed lots of walks in the beautiful area. Visited the Christmas lights trail at Blenheim palace. And had several wonderful meals in the local restaurants of Winchcombe. The cottage is very comfortable and had all we needed for a week.

Excellent Seasonal Break
We had a great few days in Winchcombe. Main reason for visiting was to see the Christmas illuminations at Sudely Castle which were excellent.
Added bonus was the Christmas Fair in Winchcombe itself which was a wonderful occasion.
Although very muddy we managed some very pleasant walks in the area.
The free entry to Sudely Castle as residents of Lady Jane Grey was also used well.

Lovely but a bit noisy
Lovely property - beautifully clean and cosy - but lots of builders outside and quite a lot of noise of walking about and the TV from the property upstairs.

V pretty cottage but expensive for what we got
Really liked the lady Jane grey cottage , very clean and neat and everything you needed was in it . But I would have liked a few more tea and coffee bags as we were only there for 1.5 days and a little welcome pack would have been a lovely idea for us ( it doesn’t cost much but is a really nice touch ) . The cottage was very noisy in the early hours - could hear people over us walking around as if they were in our own house , floors v creaky so were woken up ard 6.30 both mornings as others were up then . I couldn’t regulate the shower on the first day as it was v stiff and hard to move back to get cold water but my husband managed to do it for his shower after me . I would find the steps from kitchen to dining a little inconvenient especially when bringing down tea , food etc . And we found it expensive for the 1.5 days we were there
