About this cottage rental
This charming, three-bedroom cottage offers total peace and tranquillity. It is situated in one of the prettiest parts of North Dorset just three miles from the A303 and close to the National Trust properties of Stourhead and Montacute. Longleat is just over the border in Wiltshire, while the lovely town of Sherborne with its abbey and Shaftesbury's Gold Hill, made famous by the Hovis advertisement, are close by. The magnificent city of Bath and Salisbury Cathedral are both within an easy drive, as is the Jurassic Dorset coast. Gillingham, two miles away, boasts a mainline station to London Waterloo, leisure centre with swimming pool, tennis courts, restaurants and a Waitrose and Asda. Gastro pubs in nearby villages are highly recommended and serve excellent food. There are wonderful walks from the cottage and plenty of quiet lanes for cycling.
The newly refurbished cottage has an outside patio containing a fire pit and BBQ and a large woodland garden. Double doors from the patio lead to an attractive beamed sitting room with a wood burning stove and large screen TV/DVD. The fully equipped kitchen with table and seating for five, contains a hob, oven, microwave and dishwasher, while the utility room next door hosts a washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge and freezer. There is one twin and one double bedroom upstairs and one single downstairs. All bedrooms have ample storage, high spec mattresses, pillows and linen; towels included. There are two bathrooms; upstairs with a bath and downstairs with a shower. No smoking and unfortunately no pets as the cottage is situated on a working farm. Parking is available for two/three cars as is a cycle store and Wifi.

My family and I had a fantastic stay in this beautifully appointed cottage. Annabel, our host, could not have been more accommodating. We hope to return soon.

We had a simply lovely three night stay. The cottage embraces you with its warmth, character, location and welcome! We were made so very welcome by the owners and everything we needed for a relaxing break, was provided. We would highly recommend The Stables as a place to stay!

Wonderful cottage with lots of amenities, yet close to Shaftesbury, Gillingham, Sherbourne and about 1.20hrs to the coast. Excellent kitchen facilities and lovely garden which we took advantage of sitting in due to very sunny Easter Holidays. Easily suitable for 5 people.

Annabel thought of everything to make our stay enjoyable. The house is beautifully furnished and well equipped, with a lovely garden for summer visitors.

We spent a lovely 14 days over Christmas at Annabel’s cottage. On arrival we discovered all the basics - French bread, butter, jam, tea coffee, milk, sugar plus the annoying ones to buy like salt and pepper, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, washing powder, kitchen towel etc - had generously been provided. Annabel’s daughter had also sweetly set up some Christmas decorations including a nativity scene on the mantlepiece in the sitting room and even a Christmas tree, lights on, just outside the French windows (I believe it was a little big for inside the house).
The cottage has a fantastic boot room, which is great for disrobing out of muddy gear, and also has a large washing machine and dryer, perfect for a family of young mucky children.
The bedrooms are cozy and have comfy beds, bathrooms are very functional.
We used the stove/fire in the sitting room there is also a good sized TV and a very comfortable sofa to recline on.
I would recommend this little cottage to anyone and hope to stay there again when we are next in Dorset.

We loved our stay at Hayhouse Farm. Anabel was a lovely host, offering us whatever we needed, and we particularly loved the canine hosts - we'll remember that mischievous Mazy fondly.
The cottage was extremely comfortable. Spacious bedrooms, wonderful kitchen, plus excellent washing and drying facilities. And thanks Anabel for some of the touches we found in the cottage - the soft ample towels, the welcoming sheets and pillows.
We hope to visit again one day. Thanks again.

We visited Annabel's cottage with our 3 children. The great thing it was exactly what I'd hoped for and everything had been thought of. We had a really lovely weekend over Easter and the cottage was perfect

Anabel was great. The cottage is very cosy with lots of special additions, such as White Company luxury towels and Neil's Yard toiletries everywhere. Anabel even provides tea, coffee, milk and biscuits for the weary traveler!
The cottage has very comfy beds and all the amenities you need, including dishwasher, washing machine and dryer as well as a fully furnished kitchen. There is a large flatscreen with Sky, and an XBox one plus games if needed. There are also two very nice pubs for food nearby, the Stapleton Arms and the Ship in West Stour.
Overall a very nice stay. Thanks Anabel!

The cottage was fantastic, incredibly clean, comfy/cosy with bags of facilities and soft, sumptuous towels as a bonus!
Annabel was very friendly and helpful, the location of the cottage was great for exploring and visiting places of interest in that area.
I'd definitely go back.
Thank you.
