About this cabin rental
Situated in open countryside on the edge of the historic stone village of Beckington, close to Longleat House & Safari Park and the splendid City of Bath, By The Byre Holidays is a group of charming self-catering accommodation including three 3-bedroom cedar lodges.
Named after Beckington castle, Beckington Lodge is the lodge furthest right on our site and is often booked alongside Farleigh Lodge next door. This lodge has a large open plan kitchen/diner/living area. It has a modern, well-equipped kitchen stocked with everything you need - even to cook Christmas dinner! You’ll enjoy modern entertainment facilities with flat screen SMART TV’s, Wireless Bluetooth Speakers and recently upgraded wireless broadband access. With its three bedrooms there is plenty of room for everyone!
We pride ourselves on being child-friendly and are keenly aware of just the type of equipment that helps make your life easier and like a home-from-home. Wooden cots with good mattresses are available for babies up-to 18months (travel cots for the older babies), along with high chairs, changing mats and sterilisers. We have plenty of each item so do let us know before you set off your exact requirements. A selection of outdoor ride-on toys are available and guests are free to roam the grounds and say ‘hello’ to our chickens.
Less than three miles away is the vibrant town of Frome. With its historic buildings and beautiful independent shops, alongside a thriving contemporary arts scene, it has been highlighted as one of the ‘Best Places to Live in Britain’ by The Times. Frome is also the original Somerset Market Town, and this tradition continues today with regular weekly markets and, on the first Sunday of each month during the summer, ‘The Frome Independent’ - a mini festival bringing together the best artisan food and drink, artists and designers, local produce, plants, home wares and street entertainment.
A ten minute drive takes you to the famous Longleat House and Safari Park for which the owners of By The Byre are able to offer their guests a 20% discount on a one day ticket. The splendid Georgian City of Bath with its museums, street cafes, boutiques and Roman baths is 12 miles away, and within easy reach by car are a number of visitor attractions such as Wookey Hole, Cheddar Gorge and Stonehenge, and historic towns including Bradford on Avon, Glastonbury and Wells.

these lodges have everything you need for a family break, nicely furnished decking for the grown ups and plenty of green space for the youngsters. Sally and Steve are great hosts and nothing is too much trouble. We would love to return, there's so much to see in the area.

Brilliant place to stay
This was the most chilled and relaxing break we've had . The lodge had everything we needed-including groceries on arrival which were very much appreciated . We had our 2 g/kids ( 2+4 ) and there was a safe park and every toy they needed .Loads of places to visit nearby ( Longleat especially , and Wookey hole ).Many thanks to Sally and Steve who welcomed us and were most helpful, the whole experience was a credit to them. Hope to see you ago in the future.

Long weekend
A perfect location for a three night stay to explore Frome, Longleat and Bath.
Sally was most welcoming, with good communication leading up to our break. The lodge itself is well appointed, spacious and comfortable. Home from home.
Thank you Sally.

Wonderful week
We had a wonderful week in Beckington! We immediately felt comfortable in the spacious, modern and well kept house. When we arrived in the evening, bread, milk and butter were already in the fridge. So we didn't have to go shopping for breakfast next morning. Sally welcomed us warmly and recommended some interesting trips in the region, while Steve came along for looking after the house after a regional power cut. The house is well equipped, even dishwasher tabs and salad oil were on the hand. Sitting at the dining table was always a pleasure, just because of having a great view over the grain fields or looking at the other guests' children playing on the vast property. We enjoyed the quiet environment, but also used many opportunities for excursions to exciting destinations in the surrounding area. Our highest recommendations!

Lovely base to explore area
We had a lovely time at the lodge. The lodge itself was well equipped, nice and clean and best of all was well heated, which was crucial as the weather turned cold just as we arrived! The setting was ideal for the places in east Somerset we wanted to visit - Longleat (which was excellent and perfect for the kids) and Wells, to see the Cathedral and Bishop's Palace there, both of which were lovely and the town itself is also lovely. All in all, a nice break!
