About this chalet rental
This cabin-chalet is a unique, charming getaway. You are not likely to find a similar property in Canaan Valley with the combination of views, decor, amenities, and central location to everything in and near Canaan Valley and nearby Tucker County attractions. 10 minutes drive to the new Timberline Mountain and Canaan Valley State Park, or eight minutes north to the quaint town of Davis and stunning Blackwater Falls State Park. Fifteen minutes to Thomas and Purple Fiddle.
Special Features include:
1. Fabulous views of Canaan Valley -- including beauty of National Wildlife Refuge (parcel of which you view from our deck) year-round -- from cabin's great room, hot tub and deck.
2. Home is uniquely and thoughtfully decorated with comfortable country and rustic furniture handmade by local artisans.
3. Upgraded kitchen appliances.
4. Picnic table on deck
5. VERY large charcoal smoker grill.
6. Chimera/fire pit area
7. Near two quaint towns Davis (8 minutes drive) and Thomas (15 minutes drive).
8. The cabin abuts the Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge and is in the middle of the Valley, on a ridge. To the north are the towns and Blackwater Falls State Park, to the south are downhill ski areas, White Grass and Dolly Sods. Hiking and mountain biking all around.
9. In a rural neighborhood of about 14 homes. We are on the desirable "ridge" side with views. We have a small field next to us with a thick stand of pine trees separating us from the neighbors on that side. From the back, we have a little thinned forest (to improve views) and then the refuge. One side we do have a home we can see, but folks are quiet and rarely out.
10. Very well-equipped kitchen made for REAL cooking, if you choose during your stay, with blender, electric mixer, cast iron skillet, crepe/pancake skillet, panini/grill pan, pasta pot, muffin/popover tins, pie dish, cake pans, measuring cups, french press in addition to drip and K cup coffee maker, numerous knives. Also waffle maker.
Leaf peeping!
Hike, bike, swim, kayak or ski your heart out, depending on the season. Guests say, ''The views are spectacular." Ski, tube, skate, sled, fat bike in winter, hike, bike and kayak in warm weather. Horseback riding minutes away all seasons, world-class rock climbing about 1/2 hour away. Shop for from local gallaries and antique-junque stores in Davis and Thomas. Located in the beautiful Allegheny Mountains.
Canaan Valley State Park has ice skating, tubing, sleigh rides, horseback rides and both indoor and outdoor pools, as well as various special events throughout the year. Blackwater Falls has a long sled run. Both parks have X Country skiing and lodges with food and events. White Grass in the Valley has X country skiing and telemark as well as a cozy cabin-cafe and warming yurt.
Great Family Ski vacation, Summer Vacation in Canaan Valley or Cozy Romantic Getaway in West Virginia. Excellent spot to explore various day-hikes, and mountain bike. 35 Minutes to Blackwater Outdoor Adventures for whitewater, kaying or tubing, 50 minutes to Deep Creek Lake.
Nearby Davis West Virginia was voted by Men's Health as one of the coolest little mountain towns in the country. It's sister town, Thomas, is notable for live music, galleries and a thriving community. Note that the high elevation of this Valley means the climate is more like Maine or Southern Canada/summer days very rarely get beyond 80s at their hottest and evenings dip down to 50s or low 60s, even in July and August. Much more natural snow in winter than anywhere nearby given that the high elevation, large Canaan Valley catches the most southern Great Lakes effect weather. This is also a dark sky area and I get my best sleep here!

Other than issues at the cabin. (Housekeeping)
Mostly
The location of the cabin was great
We had a blast out and about.
4.5
Upon arrival(at check-in time), the property had not been cleaned, dirty sheets, towels, hot tub. We reached out to the cleaning person and she called back quickly. She came to the house within the hour and we were able to get into the house approximately 2 hours after check-in time. It was frustrating, but we appreciated the quick response. I'd recommend bringing wash cloths, as there were 4 provided for 7 of us staying for 3 nights. Plenty of towels provided. Two rolls of paper towels in the kitchen and 2 rolls of toilet paper for each bath. The house is older, but cute. Bedrooms are small, living room and kitchen had ample space for our party of 4 adults and 3 children. Kids enjoyed the foosball table. View from the rear deck is beautiful! The location is convenient to Black Water Falls State Park, Davis, and Thomas.

This is a really great cabin, with lots of room. My daughter loved the tree themed room, this is a great place for kids and maybe 2-3 couples. Definitely one of the better cabins we've stayed at in the area. The view is really the best part, which I'm sure is gorgeous in the summer and winter.
Hot tub was nice, and there was plenty of fire wood. They definitely have all the essentials except for shampoo/conditioner (you can easily buy some in town if you're like me and forgot). I really appreciate the abundance of towels.
If you like very firm box spring mattresses, and I know some people do, you'll be fine but my spine does not unfortunately.

Great location in between Davis and Canaan Valley/ Timberline ski resorts. Loved that we could go to both areas easily and then Thomas just few more miles down the road. Awesome hot tub and plenty of space. Great communication from the host. We loved our stay!

We had a wonderful stay at Skiers View. The home worked perfectly for our group of 5 ranging from 20 to 79. Plus our lab! Plenty of space, clean, good beds, stocked kitchen. The downstairs offered privacy and fun for college age adults who had online classes still. Access to parking and in/out of house was great for the 79 year old, even though it was unseasonably warm and no ice/snow on roads or steps, this was a worry for me. We had an emergency trip to hospital and were very pleased with care we received in Keyser. Location is perfect for skiing, the falls, nature watching in the field. Thanks Colleen!

The cabin was nice. The hot tub cover was broken so it didn’t really maintain the temps it needed to after skiing all day. The kitchen and sitting area are huge. Showers need to be quick because the hot water doesn’t last long for 4 people so plan accordingly. Would come back again for sure. Communication with owner was top notch.

We made this reservation on a whim. Booked it and checked in the same day. Read all the reviews and reached out to the host to see if the 2 complaints were resolved. One was the hot tub didn’t work and the host couldn’t get it fixed right away. So, first off the Hot tub did work beautifully. But I just wonder if the person making that complaint has ever tried to get any work done on the very day you call. That was a bit of an unrealistic idea. The other complaint was the WiFi didn’t work. Mind you, you are in the mountains but that being said the WiFi work perfectly, never went out and it snowed everyday we were there with 60 mile an hour gusts. There was plenty of fire wood to stay toasty warm, wonderful linens on the bed we slept in. Place is close to both ski resorts and you can see them both from the deck. Also, the drive was plowed everyday and the porch was even shoveled. Host was very responsive and even checked in to make sure we were all settled in. We would definitely go back.

The views are what make this property so very amazing! The kitchen/living room area is large and spacious. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking. Colleen was very responsive when any issue came up. We loved the fact that the road leading up to the house was not overly steep and there was ample parking. We would definitely come again!

This house was a gem. Price point was excellent for what was offered. The house was equipt with everything we needed. We were not bothered with having to bring our own towels and linens. The towels and linens were very nice. The view was amazing and the host was very thorough and informative and responded to all our needs. 10/10 recommend if you are wanting to visit this area.

We received the access code during our drive on check-in day, which there was no internet access to check our emails. When we arrived, we noticed the cleaning crew dumped dirt in the main bathroom tub. The floor dirt was un-vacuumed. Also, the master bedroom bedsheet had stain and left unwashed, so my husband and I washed before use. Granted that this is a pet-friendly place, but pet urine was all over the sofa pillows. I could only give it a high score on the communication with the owner because they responded quickly when we reached out a couple times. Otherwise, this property should not be a Premier rental. Sorry. My husband and I checked out a day early.

Clean, cozy, great location, beautiful view. Would look forward to a return visit.

We had a really nice stay along with our dog. It was nice to be close to natural areas to explore like Blackwater Falls SP, Dolly Sods/Bear Rocks, and Seneca Rocks. It was rainy and dreary due to the tropical storm and set the scene for a wonderful lazy long weekend for relaxing in the hot tub, napping, and making good food. It is not easy to find a location like this that is dog friendly. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Me and my partner stayed here for a long weekend with the pups. The view and location are great. You’re centralized between dolly sods and Blackwater falls. The price is beyond reasonable for such a cute cabin with an amazing view. The host was extremely responsive and helpful. We’d highly recommend this property and we will def be back

Took our large family (2 adults 5 kids) to stay and it was perfect. The cabin is nice and has cozy vibes. Big enough so everyone has their own space, but small enough where you feel as if everyone is close and together even if in the basement. Hot tub was so great to sit and relax to view the stars off of the mountain side. Would definitely recommend the ice cream shop that’s in town. (The Oreo flavor was my favorite.) Rode horses and took a visit into Cass for locomotive train ride. My children loved it, my husband was able to enjoy scenery, our teen found canoeing to be a new hobby at Blackwater Falls park, and I (mom) got to release much needed tension in the hot tub while knowing my entire family was happy. Over all would rate the entire stay a 10/10 and would definitely visit again. Views: 10/10

We really enjoyed our stay at this rental. Nice view from the deck, open kitchen/ living area and nice appliances. This was the prefect spot for taking time to visit Davis, Canaan resort and Blackwater Falls. At Canaan resort we rode the ski lift up then hiked to Bald Knob. We also enjoyed hiking at Blackwater State park. Our adult children enjoyed an afternoon tubing down the Cheat River. Next time, we will stay longer and visit Dolly Sods and Canaan Valley Wildlife refuge. This rental is in a great centralized location and the property manager, Colleen, was very nice and responsive whenever I reached out to her regarding check in, etc.

Day 1 the hot tub completely drained due to a leak. Contacted the property manager at 9am and received a response that someone would be out. Reached out again at noon that day and got no response. Heard nothing for the rest of our stay. This is inexcusable. The reason for renting the unit was the hot tub. Majorly disappointed with spending so much money and this happening.
The sliding glass doors going out onto the deck were so difficult to open and close that it took my 16 year old son to open and close them. I have yet to get a response from the property manager and I'm back home now. I would advise you NOT to rent this place.

Really nice place for our family and friends. Clean and lots of space and perfect location. Lots of books for kids and the puzzles were fun. Thanks!

Came for the great hiking in WV. This is one of the best rentals I’ve stayed at. Great views, cozy & easy check in/out.

Nice property. Nice experience. Just couldn't work the hot tub :(, but the owner has updated check in list with detailed instructions. Much appreciated. Nice place with nice host! Thanks!

The perfect spot! Close to skiing and black waterfalls and a short drive to smoke hole caverns and Seneca rocks

So close to everything!!

Wonderful getaway in a convenient yet quiet location. Close to all the good stuff in Canaan Valley, Davis, Seneca, Spruce Knob, Nelson Rocks…

The view doesn’t get old and it’s located to several outdoor amazing hiking areas.

My wife & I stayed 5 days & had a really great time. We rode our motorcycle. Accessibility is A+ for a motorcycle & there are some beautiful roads to explore in the area. We took a day trip through Maryland & had lunch in Pennsylvania. It rained one day, all day, but there was plenty to do. The hot tub was great & we had a blast with the ping pong table. The place is very spacious with plenty of room for a large family. There’s even a basement living room that kids could have for themselves. The view was great and everything you need is there besides food & laundry detergent. There is a small store just minutes away & a full grocery store about 15 minutes away. Plenty of places to eat if you prefer to go out.
If we were being extremely picky, the only thing we would suggest is maybe add some blinds on the side windows for privacy at night. There is one neighbor that is relatively close.
All in all it was a great trip & wether you are a couple just looking for a romantic getaway or a large family we highly recommend this location.

The property was just what we needed for the weekend. Plenty of sleeping accommodations, and having a washer/dryer was a lifesaver.
Owner is very responsive to questions or needs, as was evident when there was a glitch with the hot water tank. She immediately responded to my message, and someone was there in no time to resolve the issue.
First thing in the morning, elk were feeding on the apples from the trees in the front yard! Views from the back deck were peaceful and pleasant.
We would definitely consider a return trip, as we were there for a wedding, and that didn’t afford us the time for the opportunity to stop and enjoy the local sites and places of interest.
4.5
Overall a great location with awesome views. We did have a issue with the hot water but Colleen was very responsive and got someone out to fix it and was nice enough to give us some money back for our trouble. We were there with 4 adults and 6 kids including a almost 1 year old. The kids loved the swing in the front.
4.5
Comfortable and open with great views out the large windows. Beds were cozy and kitchen well-supplied. We loved staying in to play games on rainy days and the easy access to mountains and waterfalls for hiking on nicer days. Close enough to town for ice cream and groceries but secluded feel.
4.5
Overall excellent accomodations. There was an odor downstairs when we arrived. We opened all the windows, ran the fans and the dehumidifier, and it went away after two days. Also there is no cable TV, just internet streaming, so we could not get local weather and news, except from our phones. Finally, the hot tub was out of commission, but we were not planning on using it. Overall, still an excellent cabin in a good location with good views and wildlife walking through the yard. I wish I was still there today!

The cabin has a great
There were screens missing from doors and windows. Hot tub was mildewy and moldy smelling even the water it's self. Since resturants are limited some of the kitchen items need to be replaced they were either old or broken. We did cook while there. All the TV remotes did not work even after I replaced the batteries. We had to plug and unplug the TV to watch the one channel we could get. The WIFI wasn't working upon arrival I had to deal with the local cable company for two days waiting on them to arrive to look at things. Ummm..... the cabin itself was roomy the whole situation could have been a better experience all the way around. The place needs a little love and could use some refurbishing. The one couch needs new cushions completely. I did text the owner Colleen she was kind enough to help with the WI-FI issue. She also gave me money back for having to deal with that.

Great mountain getaway
We really enjoyed our stay with this quiet rustic rental. It was cozy and quiet, with all the amenities you need! There was so much hiking and fishing to do in the area and everyone was very friendly. We really enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be looking forward to another trip in the future!

Skiers View
Located in a beautiful part of Eest Virgina. Close to many outdoor atractions. A few minor issues that the owner addressed quckly. I would definitely go back.

Lovely setting
The cabin is a very cute concept. Pets were allowed. We cooked in and had everything we needed to make our meals. The set up was nice as 4 lady friends we each had our own room and two full baths. The water was nice and warm in the shower. There was a hot tub and the water was clean. Wonderful night views of the moon.
