About this chalet rental

This cabin-chalet is a unique, charming getaway. You are not likely to find a similar property in Canaan Valley with the combination of views, decor, amenities, and central location to everything in and near Canaan Valley and nearby Tucker County attractions. 10 minutes drive to the new Timberline Mountain and Canaan Valley State Park, or eight minutes north to the quaint town of Davis and stunning Blackwater Falls State Park. Fifteen minutes to Thomas and Purple Fiddle.
Special Features include:
1. Fabulous views of Canaan Valley -- including beauty of National Wildlife Refuge (parcel of which you view from our deck) year-round -- from cabin's great room, hot tub and deck.
2. Home is uniquely and thoughtfully decorated with comfortable country and rustic furniture handmade by local artisans.
3. Upgraded kitchen appliances.
4. Picnic table on deck
5. VERY large charcoal smoker grill.
6. Chimera/fire pit area
7. Near two quaint towns Davis (8 minutes drive) and Thomas (15 minutes drive).
8. The cabin abuts the Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge and is in the middle of the Valley, on a ridge. To the north are the towns and Blackwater Falls State Park, to the south are downhill ski areas, White Grass and Dolly Sods. Hiking and mountain biking all around.
9. In a rural neighborhood of about 14 homes. We are on the desirable "ridge" side with views. We have a small field next to us with a thick stand of pine trees separating us from the neighbors on that side. From the back, we have a little thinned forest (to improve views) and then the refuge. One side we do have a home we can see, but folks are quiet and rarely out.
10. Very well-equipped kitchen made for REAL cooking, if you choose during your stay, with blender, electric mixer, cast iron skillet, crepe/pancake skillet, panini/grill pan, pasta pot, muffin/popover tins, pie dish, cake pans, measuring cups, french press in addition to drip and K cup coffee maker, numerous knives. Also waffle maker.

Leaf peeping!
Hike, bike, swim, kayak or ski your heart out, depending on the season. Guests say, ''The views are spectacular." Ski, tube, skate, sled, fat bike in winter, hike, bike and kayak in warm weather. Horseback riding minutes away all seasons, world-class rock climbing about 1/2 hour away. Shop for from local gallaries and antique-junque stores in Davis and Thomas. Located in the beautiful Allegheny Mountains.

Canaan Valley State Park has ice skating, tubing, sleigh rides, horseback rides and both indoor and outdoor pools, as well as various special events throughout the year. Blackwater Falls has a long sled run. Both parks have X Country skiing and lodges with food and events. White Grass in the Valley has X country skiing and telemark as well as a cozy cabin-cafe and warming yurt.

Great Family Ski vacation, Summer Vacation in Canaan Valley or Cozy Romantic Getaway in West Virginia. Excellent spot to explore various day-hikes, and mountain bike. 35 Minutes to Blackwater Outdoor Adventures for whitewater, kaying or tubing, 50 minutes to Deep Creek Lake.

Nearby Davis West Virginia was voted by Men's Health as one of the coolest little mountain towns in the country. It's sister town, Thomas, is notable for live music, galleries and a thriving community. Note that the high elevation of this Valley means the climate is more like Maine or Southern Canada/summer days very rarely get beyond 80s at their hottest and evenings dip down to 50s or low 60s, even in July and August. Much more natural snow in winter than anywhere nearby given that the high elevation, large Canaan Valley catches the most southern Great Lakes effect weather. This is also a dark sky area and I get my best sleep here!

Upon arrival(at check-in time), the property had not been cleaned, dirty sheets, towels, hot tub. We reached out to the cleaning person and she called back quickly. She came to the house within the hour and we were able to get into the house approximately 2 hours after check-in time. It was frustrating, but we appreciated the quick response. I'd recommend bringing wash cloths, as there were 4 provided for 7 of us staying for 3 nights. Plenty of towels provided. Two rolls of paper towels in the kitchen and 2 rolls of toilet paper for each bath. The house is older, but cute. Bedrooms are small, living room and kitchen had ample space for our party of 4 adults and 3 children. Kids enjoyed the foosball table. View from the rear deck is beautiful! The location is convenient to Black Water Falls State Park, Davis, and Thomas.

This is a really great cabin, with lots of room. My daughter loved the tree themed room, this is a great place for kids and maybe 2-3 couples. Definitely one of the better cabins we've stayed at in the area. The view is really the best part, which I'm sure is gorgeous in the summer and winter. Hot tub was nice, and there was plenty of fire wood. They definitely have all the essentials except for shampoo/conditioner (you can easily buy some in town if you're like me and forgot). I really appreciate the abundance of towels. If you like very firm box spring mattresses, and I know some people do, you'll be fine but my spine does not unfortunately.

Great location in between Davis and Canaan Valley/ Timberline ski resorts. Loved that we could go to both areas easily and then Thomas just few more miles down the road. Awesome hot tub and plenty of space. Great communication from the host. We loved our stay!

We had a wonderful stay at Skiers View. The home worked perfectly for our group of 5 ranging from 20 to 79. Plus our lab! Plenty of space, clean, good beds, stocked kitchen. The downstairs offered privacy and fun for college age adults who had online classes still. Access to parking and in/out of house was great for the 79 year old, even though it was unseasonably warm and no ice/snow on roads or steps, this was a worry for me. We had an emergency trip to hospital and were very pleased with care we received in Keyser. Location is perfect for skiing, the falls, nature watching in the field. Thanks Colleen!

The cabin was nice. The hot tub cover was broken so it didn’t really maintain the temps it needed to after skiing all day. The kitchen and sitting area are huge. Showers need to be quick because the hot water doesn’t last long for 4 people so plan accordingly. Would come back again for sure. Communication with owner was top notch.

We made this reservation on a whim. Booked it and checked in the same day. Read all the reviews and reached out to the host to see if the 2 complaints were resolved. One was the hot tub didn’t work and the host couldn’t get it fixed right away. So, first off the Hot tub did work beautifully. But I just wonder if the person making that complaint has ever tried to get any work done on the very day you call. That was a bit of an unrealistic idea. The other complaint was the WiFi didn’t work. Mind you, you are in the mountains but that being said the WiFi work perfectly, never went out and it snowed everyday we were there with 60 mile an hour gusts. There was plenty of fire wood to stay toasty warm, wonderful linens on the bed we slept in. Place is close to both ski resorts and you can see them both from the deck. Also, the drive was plowed everyday and the porch was even shoveled. Host was very responsive and even checked in to make sure we were all settled in. We would definitely go back.

The views are what make this property so very amazing! The kitchen/living room area is large and spacious. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking. Colleen was very responsive when any issue came up. We loved the fact that the road leading up to the house was not overly steep and there was ample parking. We would definitely come again!
