Our family of four had the most wonderful stay at Casa Feliz. The casa is spacious and very well appointed. We even got a delightful welcome basket upon arrival. The pool is and outdoor space are a dream. John is the perfect host - very responsive and accommodating. We had the best time exploring La Palma and are sad to have to leave! We would absolutely stay again.

The house is perfect. The facilities are complete and the garden is magnificent. Nothing is missing. The swimming pool and jacuzzi are great. John and Mary had planned everything for our arrival and if necessary you have a contact person on site. To recommend. We hope to be able to return soon. Thanks for all.

What a totally amazing place!
Casa Feliz is a very special home, filled with warmth and soul , the photos although lovely do not do it justice , from the moment you walk in , it is a feast for your eyes. The grounds seem to go on forever with beautifully placed plants and flowers , sea views, mountain views , a fantastic heated pool and hot tub , what’s not to love! The interior furnishings were comfortable and the kitchen contained everything you could possibly wish for and more!! The villa has stolen a huge piece of our hearts and we will most definitely be returning , thank you Marie and John for sharing your home

This is an exceptional property - it is extensively ornamented with very special ceramics which I believe have been made by Marie, probably on the premises. It feels like an art gallery!
The villa has everything you need - it is really a home, rather than just a 'holiday let'.
The pool, barbecue, and hot tub are notable features.
The setting is quite stunning with views from the sea to the mountains. The garden is beautiful too - wonderfully landscaped and planted, and popular with the local birds.
John and Marie are exceptionally helpful and attentive hosts.
The island of LaPalma is quiet, quite unlike some of the busier, more touristic islands in the Canaries. The landscape is beautiful and the walking enjoyable but quite energetic as most of the extensive, well marked footpaths are far from level! When the sky is clear the stargazing is spectacular.
We have stayed here before and certainly hope to visit again.
Thank you for another great holiday John and Marie

Great villa - with excellent pool and hot tub
One of the best and biggest pools at any villa we've stayed at - a great size to actually swim rather than just dip. Good water temperature, even in February. The hot tub was great too - not new (not all jets working), but good temperature and loads of bubbles - a really nice place to relax in the evening, after hard days' hiking.
The villa is very spacious - there were only two of us so we didn't need to use the second and third bedrooms.
Minor feedback on a few items that I'm sure John will sort out, but overall it's a great villa and we're very glad we chose to stay there.

A wonderful villa! (stay 26/10/19 - 2/11/19)
This is a truly exceptional villa. We have rented many private villas as over the years and this is the best yet. From our first contact with John up to our departure, everything ran smoothly.
We had a very small problem with the electricity (a circuit breaker had tripped for the laundry room power which required a key to access to reset) however John reponded to my message within seconds and the problem was fixed very quickly indeed.
The villa is huge and very comfortable, with more than ample space for our family to enjoy the peace and relaxation the location offers. The kitchen was very well equipped with every utensil or kitchen gadget you could possibly need. The beds were very comfortable too and what a pleasure to open the blinds in the morning to see blazing, warm sunshine at the end of October (I live in the UK so this is a novelty for us).
Outside, the pool is also huge for a private villa. I estimated it to be 12m / 40 feet but I may be wrong. It was also heated to a perfect temperature for us. The terrace is extensive, wrapping around most of the house and there are wonderful views across the island and out to sea side. The terraced garden is also very extensive with many exotic varities of fruit tree (avocado, mango, persimmon, guavasteen (I had to look that one up as I had no idea what it was - really delicious though) orange, lemon, and many more I most likely missed. It was great experience to climb an avocado tree to pick them fresh.
There is a small but well stocked supermarket within walking distance (about 10-15 mins). There is plenty of fresh food available within. Not just cans / frozen. There are a couple of bigger supermarkets within a 10-15 minute drive (Mercadona seems to be brand new and is right next to a large Lidl). Also - and this is important - you can buy really good Rioja or Ribera del Duero for around €5 a bottle, or around €10 for a vintage reserva.
Overall, it's a superb villa with too many plus points to list in this review. As with all holidays you really enjoy, it's so hard to leave and this is exactly how we felt last weekend. We will definitely return and I can in all sincerity highly recommend Casa Feliz to anybody looking for a perfect villa experience in La Palma.

Fantastic villa
We have visited a number of the Canary islands and this villa is the best so far. Spacious, clean and comfortable with a fantastic pool set in lovely grounds. John has been great and responded to messages very quickly. As advised by others we used a hire car from Pili. She was also very helpful and following her to the villa after a late flight made the trip so much easier.
We would heartily recommend Casa Feliz - we'll be returning next year!

What a great Family Holiday, Fantastic Villa, Great Island
First of all John made the organisation of the holiday so easy, with recommendations on travelling to the villa, car hire and lots of communication in plenty of time. Then Pilar on the island was very helpful throughout the holiday and actually took time to check everything was well as we enjoyed the relaxing surroundings of La Palma.
The property was exactly as described, actually, large villa probably undersells it, there were five of us on holiday and we could all be in different parts of the villa and not hear from anyone. The location twenty minute drive from Santa Cruz in the quiet neighbourhood of Brena Alta meant you were close enough to go to a restaurant but you felt in a rural area.
The pool was great, lots of fun and you could actually swim in it due to its size and what's not to like about finishing the day off in the Hot Tub.
Lots to do on the island, from Vineyard visits, to the salt planes and for those more adventurous I would strongly recommend a visit to the observatory 8000 feet above see level and first hand see the milky way without the need for a telescope.
Thinking of a holiday to La Palma, I would book this villa without a thought if I were to go back.

I can not fault this villa. From the friendliness of the owners John and Marie, right up to our last day. The villa is very, very large, much larger than it appears in the photos, the photos do not do it any justice. All I can say it is like an oasis of tropical flowers and huge palm trees surrounding the extremely large pool. Upon opening the gate and the entering inside the villa it is clear to see that a lot of love, hard work and expense has gone into this beautiful place. It is just perfect.
The large gardens are beautiful, with a waterfall and wooden bridges over pools and little steams. They even had a large area of fruit trees and avacado trees. We were greeted with a welcome bowl of freshly picked fruit and avacado s, which was a lovely surprise. We also had a large welcome basket of essentials and lots of treats like chocolates.
The airport is just a short drive away. We hired a car to see the whole the island, I am so pleased we did as it is stunning. There is large book in the villa created by the owners and past guests of the best places to visit. So we went to them all. We have never been anywhere like la Palma, natural beauty at its best.
Our only negative was leaving the villa

Fantastic spacious villa in outstanding gardens and mature vegetation.
Wonderful relaxing week at Casa Feliz. The villa is well equipped and is very well thought out. It simply has everything one could wish for.
The pool area is beautiful with lots of outside spaces to sit. The pool was heated to a lovely temperature and the jacuzzi too.
Overall I fully recommend the villa and the owners are a pleasure to converse with.
I’m sure we will return in the near future.

"stunning property "
We have been to lots of villas over the last 10-15 years and i can be honestly say that the pictures do not do the villa justice. You can sit out anytime of day overlooking the sea, terraces and stunning vistas on one side of the villa, or jump in the pool and hot tub on the other side of the villa in privacy. There is lots of different areas for you to sit and relax in. And the inside it is stunning as well with a very large lounge and a sun room, there was everything that you needed, the kitchen was very well stocked with utensils , glasses etc.
We were met at the airport by pili who had arranged car hire for us and then took us to the villa, she gave us all the information we needed and said she was on hand anytime if needed.
I had asked John if there would be a welcome pack and it was the best one we have ever received.
There was 4 adults in our party my self my husband and our 2 sons , you could easily fitted 6 adults comfortably in the villa without falling over each other .
With it being February it was chilly in the evening so we set the real fire which also heated the radiators and it was so toasty .
The only thing we did notice was that there was no air-con as we do not normally go to the Canaries in the hot summer months i do not know if this would be an issue .

A Real Treasure tucked away in the hills
After doing villa holidays for just over 15 years now this with out a doubt is the best villa we have stayed in. The plot is massive but really thought out well, entering the villa from a very quiet lane you drive down a large driveway to the bottom parking area which could hold at least 8 cars if need be, in the centre of this area are beautiful tall palms with a sea view in the distance. Entering through the front gates you are greeted by a huge pool, BBQ area, Hot Tub and small guest house in the distance which the owners use when they have friends over this was not occupied so very private. The villa is spotless through-out with again good size rooms with very comfortable beds, it has a massive lounge, with two dinning areas. The kitchen is a delight with everything you would have at home at your disposal not like some villas which give you the basics. The gardens are well kept and the orchards are nice to pick fresh fruit if needed. Its all about tick boxes these days and here are mine.
Pool - Massive and also heated to a constant 27 degrees
Parking - Biggest parking area I have seen!
Kitchen - Best equipped by far
Bbq - Great area, we did not use it as there was only two of us, but a great idea
Sun Bathing - great premium sun loungers with lots of space
Hot Tub - Really nice hot tub over looking the pool
Lounge - Massive lounge with large screen tv and also a lovely open fire for the colder months
Owner Communication - Very good indeed nothing too much trouble and fast to respond
Value for Money - We have stayed in other villas that cost alot more with half the amount of facilities this has
Washing Area - This is at the back of the Guest House which you do have access too and is away from your main area so you are not listening to a washer during the day.
Summary - Its a really nice place to stay, clean, spacious, well equipped close to the main supermarkets (Hyper Dino) we found the best. When we plan to go back to La Palma we will be booking again. Thanks John and Marie for what has been a great relaxing holiday.

We have had a great experience right from our first enquiry; through booking (in spite of our unusual request for Thursday to Thursday stay due to flights); through arrival (being met by Pilar with our hire car so being able to follow her to the property then be shown around). We had a thoughtful basket of goodies provided to start us off (and of course there was lovely fruit in the orchard). There are plenty of well-stocked shops within a short drive (Maxicoop is only 10 mins walk away). And an amazing ice cream shop just past the playground in San Pedro. The property is beautiful... and huge! It has everything you could need. The pool was a perfect constant 27C and was used daily. We enjoyed trips to the observatories, salt pans, volcano San Antonio, and black-sand beaches (plus a boat trip accompanied by dolphins) ...as well as star gazing from one of the astronomical view points (also from the garden, as we were blessed with clear skies at night). And even a trip to the little nearby zoo/ rescue centre. We were given some useful recommendations for where to eat but also enjoyed eating at ‘home’. Thank you for a wonderful relaxing easy stay. We hope to return!

Large immaculate property with lovely gardens and sea view
The house is large and has everything you could need for your stay. It was Immaculate. There are plenty of outdoor seats in various locations and the pool and hot tub were fab. It looks exactly like the photographs.
The BBQ is a bit tricky to get the hang of but is a nice way to eat all sat around the table into which it is built. We did have a problem with the pool going green while we were there - just unlucky - but the agent and the owners were very responsive and sorted it out very quickly and kept in constant touch to keep us informed.
We loved that there were fruit trees to help ourselves to, and we ate a lot of plums and mulberries. The avocados do take about 6 or 7 days to get ripe once picked but were delicious.
We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely visit again.
It's about a 10 min walk to the nearest supermarket but there are several larger ones to choose from within a short drive. It is about 20 mins to the beaches and town of Santa Cruise.
Be wary if you fly via Madrid as it needs at least 1.5 hours to change between terminals and not the 1 hour we were told by Iberia when they changed our flights.
Definitely hire a car and tour the island. We booked tours at the observatory and the car park at Cumbrecita on line without problem even in the height of summer but you do need to do it a few days in advance. The salt flats are worth a visit as was the cave on the way down to them with indigenous rock carvings.

Beautiful villa, perfect for relaxing.
We stayed in the property during February half term. The property is in a stunning location, private and in beautiful grounds, The villa is furnished to a very high standard, and many stunning works of art created by Marie. The property is well maintained with a pool man every Friday, gardener on Wednesday.
What I really liked is that it is an individual property down a small lane, not a complex. You ideally need a car, however you can walk to the local supermarket, and with-in 15 minutes walk to the nearest town. So if you did want a relaxing stay you could stay and enjoy the spectacular property.
This was our second choice as it is often advised to stay on the other side of the Island, however do not let this put you off, as the location is stunning and although certainly there was more cloud, and more chance of rain we found this was only 15 minutes in the morning on a few days, and the advantage is the spectacular setting, lush gardens and not far from the airport (but far enough not to be disturbed). We really appreciated being met by Pilar at the airport who personally took us to the property. On arrival there was an excellent welcome pack and a log fire alight in the lounge. We hope to visit this lovely villa again.

A great place to rest and escape from winter in the UK
My wife and I have stayed in this beautiful villa before and it remains as lovely as ever. The garden is beautiful at this time of year, and there is an orchard providing plentiful avocados.
The weather cannot be relied upon in Jan/Feb, but there are some very nice days, and if the sun is not shining on one side of the island, it usually is on the other. In any event, it is generally 20 degrees warmer than England!
We tried eating at the Parador Hotel this time. Although the food was quite acceptable it was not exceptional and not good value for La Palma. We found the most enjoyable way to eat is to explore the island by car and stop off to try small 'kiosks' and cafes, of which there are plenty. They serve simple but authentic local dishes.
For exercise, the island is ideal for interesting and scenic hiking, which can involve strenuous climbs if you wish.
John and Marie are excellent hosts and take go to great lengths to ensure that guests enjoy the property.
The local agent, Pilar, is also very helpful and we hired a nice reliable car from her at a reasonable rate.

Wonderful property, just as advertised
We had a great stay for three weeks here. We were joined twice by friends and relatives and the layout of the house made this very enjoyable. The gardens are delightful with many varied plantings and mature trees. Our visit was unfortunately during a coolish spell so we didn’t avail ourselves of the large and very inviting pool, but instead hopped into the hot tub.
The house is very well situated in terms of facilities - the maxi coop being a surprisingly well stocked small store within walking distance if you need just a few things and San Pedro within a few minutes driving distance with three supermarkets. Wonderful restaurant Casa Osmundas about 15 minutes in an almost straight shot. (Try to get the waiter Carlos if you want an English speaker).
Pilar, John’s agent, met us at the airport and we followed her home which was a great help since to the unfamiliar it is difficult to find. Once we had driven it a couple of times it was a snap. When we arrived there was an unexpected and delightful “welcome” basket waiting for us. Pilar is quick to respond to any text requests and if there is a larger issue, John is also rapidly responsive and very helpful.
Should we return to La Palma (which we found as beautiful as described, particularly for the hiking) we wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

A wonderful and well-equipped house set in a beautiful garden
The house was large enough for us and our grown up children, and came equipped with everything we could need. Outside there's a lovely garden - plus pool, hot-tub and barbeque area. The owners were very helpful, responding to any questions we had. We lived and worked on La Palma about 20 years ago, and are very familiar with the properties there - this is one of the nicest places we've seen, and made for a great holiday.

A beautiful villa - ideal just to rest in, or to use as a base for exploring the island.
This villa is even better than we expected from the description and photographs on Owners Direct.
We had a great time there and a good rest. It is decorated with great artistic flare and taste, and also a great sense of humour. The garden is quite a paradise for gardeners and others interested in a fascinating collection of beautiful plants, shrubs and specimen trees. There are numerous places to sit and relax, and admire the plants and the views of the mountains and the sea.
The barbecue is a useful feature and very easy to use once you have worked out how it operates, (which initially took us a few minutes).
The pool is large and well maintained.
The weather, in February, was somewhat variable.
This is a large property and it is something of a responsibility looking after it.
A car is necessary for exploration and shopping, although it is possible to walk to the Max CoOp and back if you are not carrying too much, and that is a surprisingly large supermarket with convenient parking. Alternatives include a Spa, a Superdino, and a Lidl within a few minutes drive. We did not find any restaurants within walking distance. Although there are several in nearby Los Cancajos.
The location is very convenient (just a few minutes) for Santa Cruz, and for the airport and ferry terminal (once you are familiar wih the roads).
My wife and I have visited all the other Canary islands except Hiero, and La Palma is probably the most restful. This island is quiet - 'sleepy' - even by the standards of the Canaries! The volcanic terrain is very beautiful and in addition to the flora, including unspoiled pine forrests, there are a lot of birds to be seen there. There are numerous well marked foot paths, as is typical for the Canaries, and some are quite energetic walks.
Pilar, the local agent who takes care of the property, and guests, is most helpful and efficient.

Perfect, beautiful house
We stayed here early January 2017. John the owner was very helpful and responsive with the booking and giving instructions and recommendations. Pilar welcomed us at the airport and we followed her back to the house where a welcome cheese platter, glowing fire and wine was ready. The house had everything we needed, fully equipped kitchen, heating, warm pool and amazing garden. I ate guavas off the tree for the first time since I was a child.
I would highly recommend this house and La Palma is a quite, beautiful island.
Thanks for making our stay so enjoyable, we'll be back!

Simply the Best
We are two couples who have taken holidays together regularly for many years and we are all agreed that Casa Feliz is the best house we have ever stayed in and we seriously doubt it will ever be knocked off that top spot. The arrangements with John and Marie were made very easily and their agent, Pili, was brilliant. We had no trouble finding her and the carat the airport and she delivered us safely to the house, which on our arrival was gently lit and dotted with flowers to greet, in addition and there was a fire burning in the grate in the main sitting room making it feel like home. There was a welcome platter of food and drink and supplies for breakfast. Pili left us with clear contact details and is a helpful list of good restaurants. The next day we explored the grounds and simply couldn't believe our luck. The pool was wonderful. We spent our days relaxing at the house when the sun shone and exploring the unspoilt island as the clouds arrived. We loved Marie's ceramic work and wished we could have some at home to remind us of our stay. We enjoyed the abundance of bird life and had fun lizard spotting. We conducted controlled trials to hasten the ripening of the tasty avocados picked from the groaning bushes and reached the conclusion that it takes 6 days whatever the method. Even an exciting flight home courtesy of Storm Katie in the UK of could not take the shine off our wonderful stay in Casa Feliz. Thank you John and Marie much for sharing your beautiful home. I suspect it will not be long before we want to return

Beautiful villa on beautiful island
What a privilege to stay in this generously comfortable and homely villa, with the luxuries of a large heated pool and hot tub plus sea and mountain views. Unlike other Canary islands, La Palma is a botanical feast. It is a geological wonder. Car hire by easy prior arrangement is necessary to explore this fascinating place.
The owner is extremely welcoming and helpful, and is easily contactable beforehand. His Spanish representative, Pilar, will arrange the car hire and take you to the villa from the airport. She will also troubleshoot any queries with the villa.
Things to do - drive over the top of the caldera, visit the southern tip where the last active volcano was (1971) and the salt pools. Eat at Casa Goyo with all the locals (at the end of the runway!), and lunch at the modern restaurant by the Salt Pools and the lighthouses.
