About this cottage rental
The cottage is situated in a quiet square in the fishing village of Lower Fishguard.
The semi detached cottage has been stylishly decorated and furnished to reflect its seaside location with a light and contemporary feel. The cottage has a twin and double bedroom; bathroom with over head shower; a lounge with an open fire & two sofas; a separate breakfast/ dining room. The small galley kitchen leads to a sun room with table and chairs, overlooking the secluded garden - ideal for breakfast or an early evening drink.
The cottage is a 2 minute walk to the picturesque harbour, and is a short walk or drive uphill (steep) to the main town of Fishguard. Lower Fishguard has a welcoming pub, a pretty harbour, cafe and a lovely walk along the coastal paths either towards Fishguard or to the Old Fishguard Fort.
Pembrokeshire Coastal Path: The Pembrokeshire Coastal Path includes some of the most spectacular coastal walking, scenery, & diverse wildlife in Britain. The path via Fishguard, Pembroke & Tenby takes you across beautiful white beaches, over cliff tops carpeted with spring and summer wild flowers, past colonies of seabirds, such as puffins, cormorants & gulls nesting along the cliffs, & seals, porpoises and dolphin swimming offshore.
There are Norman castles on the coast, hermit churches, picturesque harbours & villages, & the magnificent St David’s Cathedral in Britain’s smallest city where you can get boats to the offshore islands of Skomer, Ramsey & Caldey to see seals & nesting sea birds.
Tourist Attractions: Pembrokeshire has no shortage of leisure parks and places of interest, such as Oakwood Theme Park which now has the biggest wooden roller coaster in Europe; Folly Farm - Wales' premier farm attraction; Great Wedlock Dinosaur Park where you can meet dinosaurs in the wild. There are Wildlife Parks, Sports Parks, Golf Courses, Leisure Centres, & Art & Craft galleries where you can view & buy work from local artists, such as Workshop Wales, Oriel Glan y Mor Gallery, & Harbour Lights Gallery. The new Ocean Lab in Goodwick has a cyber cafe, & interactive displays & exhibitions.
The information box in the cottage has lots of leaflets to help you plan your holiday, and the excellent Tourist Information Centre in the Town Hall, Upper Town will help with your enquiries.
There are so many activities and alternatives to the beach, or things to do if the weather is bad, that we can't imagine that you would ever be stuck for something to do in Pembrokeshire - the problem will be choosing what to do next!
Fishguard: Upper & Lower Town & Goodwick: Lower Town has a picturesque harbour with a pretty little quayside lined with fisherman's cottages - the location for the town of Llareggub used in the 1970s film of Dylan Thomas' play, Under Milk Wood, starring Richard Burton. There is also a yacht club, cafe, a welcoming pub & lovely walks down along the Gwaun Valley & up the hill to the Old Fort. It was here that the last invasion of Britain took place in 1797, & the town displays a tapestry depicting scenes from the battle.
Upper Town can be reached by car, or on foot (steep hill!) & has a wide variety of shops, restaurants, pubs, & galleries, a bookshop, a playground, and a small cinema.
A trip to Ireland is possible with the new high-speed catamaran link between Pembrokeshire and Rosslare, now just a short journey away.
The annual Fishguard International Music Festival is held in July, & in May there is the Fishguard Folk Festival. Fishguard makes a perfect holiday base, there's lots to do close by & lots to explore further afield.

We had 6 nights in this pretty quaint cottage easily spacious enough for 2 and a fantastic base to explore the surrounding beautiful area of Fishguard, Pembrokeshire & Ceredigion. The property was well equipped, especially the kitchen, which although compact had everything needed to prepare any meals etc. Location wise the cottage is easily within walking distance to peaceful Lower Fishguard (or up a steep hill to the busier Upper Town) and we always found a parking space outside when we came back after a day out which was a bonus. The little conservatory was lovely to sit in early morning with a cuppa or on an evening with a glass (or 2) of vino. The lounge was comfy and cosy to watch tv in the evening if not eating out and the separate dining area was great for breakfast or evening meals. The bathroom had a bath & overhead shower and although small suited our needs. The double bedroom was roomy enough & comfortable with plenty of storage for our clothes and there was also a second twin bedroom with enough storage too. Even though we booked through VRBO our host Karen was quick to answer any questions and provided plenty of helpful information both in the cottage and by email. The neighbours next door were so friendly (but not invasive) and the Ship Inn became our “local” for several nights during our stay. Overall we had a great stay and would recommend this clean quiet little cottage to those who love exploring like us or just want a peaceful break in wonderful Wales.

A gorgeous little cottage just a short walk from the picturesque quay of Lower Town, Fishguard. There was absolutely everything you could need for the perfect holiday - all you need to bring is yourself. And clothes! The neighbours were lovely and friendly, the cottage comfortable, the garden charming. My sister and I were tempted to invoke squatters rights!
10/10 would recommend.

Perfect week’s holiday in a lovely part of Wales.
Having not had a holiday for nearly three years due to health problems it was so good to stay in Karen’s lovely cottage in beautiful Pembrokeshire. The cottage is tastefully decorated and located just a short walk away from the Lower Town Harbour. The neighbours are so fantastic we wanted to take them home with us!If you fancy a tasty bite to eat then try The Yatch Club Cafe down in the harbour . The cottage now has Wi-Fi which we found very useful when booking the click and collect service at the Coop Super Market . Just a great holiday in a beautiful area!

Lovely cottage and location
We had a great two weeks in this cottage in Fishguard.
Karen was really helpful leading up to and during our stay.
The cottage was ideal; it was clean and well equipped with comfortable beds. The kitchen is small so there’s no room for a dishwasher, but it didn’t matter and there was everything else we needed. It’s the little things that make a difference and we were pleased to find jugs and trays and things in drawers that we might have needed, like batteries, sellotape, notepads, pens, games etc. On the couple of rainy days when we didn’t want to go out it was ideal to sit and read in the conservatory overlooking the private garden.
We liked being able to stroll along to Fishguard harbour and it wasn’t far to walk up into the main part of town. Otherwise we got into the car and explored the beautiful coast and countryside.
The next door neighbours were really friendly and we were interested to hear their stories about growing up and living in the village.
We would definitely recommend this cottage for couples and families.

Great little cottage, wonderful location.
A great little cottage in a wonderful location in Lower town. Lots of space for the 3 of us, warm and cosy, especially at the end of October. Nice little garden which I am sure is fabulous on a Summer evening. It had everything we needed. Having no WiFi not an issue for us, but decent EE mobile reception anyway. Easy access to Pembrokeshire coast and short walk to the pretty harbour. Friendly neighbours who advised us on where to head for great walks. Milk and mince pies left for our arrival which was lovely. We had excellent communication with the owner, Karen, too. We had a wonderful week!

Wonderful stay
This was the perfect location for our family holiday, suited us really well with our two children aged 11 and 13. The cottage was cosy but also spacious enough for us all. The conservatory in the evening was lovely. Kitchen small but functional and both bedrooms really comfortable.

Great location
Great location. Would benefit from WiFi . Think the property could do with a refresh but our stay was towards the end of summer season and this could be the reason.

A wonderful week in beautiful West Wales
A lovely cottage, in a superb location in beautiful Wales! The cottage is cute and compact but with everything you could need. The garden is beautiful and provides both shade and sun all day and what a lovely sun trap to enjoy a glass of wine in the evening! My 2 teenagers loved paddleboarding and kayaking every day from the harbour just a 4 min walk from the cottage, they could even carry the board back and forth so no pumping it up every day! We all had a wonderful time and the sun shone all week for us! Perfect! Thank you, we will hopefully return very soon!

The cottage was very comfortable and there were lots of thoughtful touches, including welcome pack and a very well equipped kitchen. I was able to cook each evening. A reminder why I love Wales
Lovely week in this house in Fishguard, in part due to the great communication with the owner, who was quick to respond to our queries. Short walk to the lovely harbour in Fishguard lower town where we enjoyed crabbing on multiple occasions, as well as taking out the canoe. Do get a crab sandwich from the cafe on the harbour front if you're around there for lunch. The folks in the neighbouring property are also lovely, really adding to the holiday. Excellent location to explore Pembrokeshire, with good options when the weather is (inevitably) patchy. Would defo recommend and book again for another week here.

A Wonderful Week!
We had a wonderful week in the cottage. It was in a lovely location, tucked out of the way and very peaceful and close to the harbour in Lower Fishguard. The cottage was well equipped and was perfect for the three of us. We appreciated the information provided by Karen (the owner) before we arrived. It was an ideal location to enjoy this beautiful part of the world.

Tranquil fisherman’s cottage
Small cosy cottage in lower Fishguard - near the harbour and its picturesque views (2 minutes walk). Cottage well equipped with small but functional kitchen, dining room, comfortable lounge and sun room - this and garden catch the afternoon sun. No wifi but this helps get away from it all! Friendly welcoming neighbours. A walk along the harbour side and up a steep hill takes you into main Fishguard town with its good pub grub at the Royal Oak (we stayed just after lockdown so things weren’t all open as normal .... but still found plenty to do!) would especially recommend kayaking with kayak king from lower town and boat trip from at David’s to Grossholm - we saw seals puffins gannets porpoise and dolphins. Fishguard is a nice little town in a stunning area. Would recommend the area and this cottage.

Cute cottage in a good spot for exploring
A really cute cottage, that has everything you need. Well decorated with lovely furnishings. The owner is very responsive and values her clients.
Lower Fishguard is pretty, but there is very little there so you must drive up the steep hill to Fishguard itself. There are nicer towns, but it is well placed for accessing all of the great Pembrokeshire beaches , towns and the many excellent leisure venues.
The neighbours are lovely- giving us salad from their garden.
A good cottage choice overall.
