Loved everything about this place - beautifully upkeep and close to town and hiking while still in the peaceful woods of Canaan Valley. Loved the private lake - tried a canoe for the first time! We’ll be back !

Great views, good location, plenty of space for our 2 families (4 adults/ 4 kids/ 3 dogs). Nice little hiking trail to take the dogs for a walk before heading to the slopes.
It’s lived in - and what we expected. Basement was cold, upstairs very warm. Cleaning crew was still there until 8pm when check in was at 4. Certainly friendly and apologetic, but it was a bit of a drag when you just want to bring in your gear after a drive. Despite that - it served our needs and we would stay again.

Check in was only problems, house wasnt ready the beds or sweeping was 5:30 pm actually left and came back to not be in anyones way. This was our second visit to this property - we love it!!! The view from the deck is spectacular, especially with the autumn leaves. We have truly enjoyed exploring the area and will be back!

The unit was easy to find and the check in great. We have used VRBO for the last 4 years and I always state the truth about each unit, and this will be no different. The house was just as the photos in the ad. Plenty of towels, kitchen plates, pots, and pans. The house had plenty of trash bags, paper towels, and toilet paper. The view was outstanding, and the lake was so peaceful. It was close to shopping' trails and gift shops.
Those were the upside. Now the downside not many and we left before the office was open for check out. One of the burners on the stove did not work. The water pressure in the showers was low. The toilet in the basement stopped flushing two days before checkout. The Livingroom only had two love seats and a few chairs. The carpet had a few stains but that is normal wear and we overlooked that. Pool table was small and the 8 ball was missing and smaller ball was used. All and all I would give this house and 8 out of 10.
The stay was peaceful a good get away from home and work. We have never seen so many stars in our lives.

The view from deck and living room are beautiful, and the trails to lake are as described. It would be nice if there were outdoor couches, or Adirondack chairs on deck. The two picnic tables were not comfortable to just sit and relax. The house itself, needs work. The carpet felt and looked dinghy, as if it had not been cleaned in years. The last two days of our stay, all toilets stopped flushing properly. We plunged them, but that did not fix it. I contacted the office, and they were going to send a plumber the following day since it was 9pm. Next morning all toilets were flushing; however, the following morning they were not flushing again. You can hear the water gurgle within the walls and from the shower drains. Property company was responsive to send a plumber out. I would not recommend this property

Pros: The view, having air, allowing pets, and being on a secluded road. Cons: The house needs lots of TLC. Cracks on dish ware, couches on main floor need to be replaced, bed sheets and covers have little holes, Jack and Jill bathroom the floor is damp and plaster coming off wall.

Great property and a fantastic location. I look forward to staying there again.

It was a nice stay.

Great property with small lake, stream and trails. Within 15 minutes of parks, restaurant's, and other activities. House is great, we will definitely use this place in the future...

Accurate description and great location, very nice view from the main living area. Small issues around the house that came up and they dealt with it promptly: i.e battery on smoke alarm needed replacement, a piece of roof siding coming off due to high winds. The only thing I didn't anticipate is that it wouldn't be child friendly for our 2 and 4 year old (counter seating only which was too high, downstairs heater gas based and somewhat exposed, exposed ledge going down the stairs).
4.5
This house is beautiful with everything was arranged as depicted in the photos. The view was better than expected. It was a great space for two families, with two large common areas and four bathrooms, and conveniently located to hiking and skiing locations.
There was a minor leak in the downstairs bathroom that I am sure the property managers will fix soon.
4.5
The view from the living room was fantastic and the kitchen area was spacious. A downside to the giant windows in the living room is the constant sunlight coming in and heating up the space (thermostat read 90F around 12 pm). The hot tub was a nice addition to the property. There are also great trails in the area that are worth checking out.

Shower pressure was low in all bathrooms and was looking for a little more land for dogs to run and play.

We visited the Davis area for my brother's wedding and stayed for a long weekend to enjoy the area. Uncle Wade's cabin was fantastic! The view from the porch is exactly as the pictures show. The windows on the entire front of the cabin give amazing views from the kitchen and living room. The cabin seems so much larger once you are inside, especially the basement with pool table and 2 extra bathrooms. Kitchen was well stocked for making meals. Hot tub was pristine. Compared to other family members that rented cabins in developments/ski villages, Uncle Wade's cabin was much more secluded and private. Very convenient to drop off trash at the Canaan Realty office, as it is less than a quarter mile away. Would certainly stay here again when visiting the area in the future.

Great house in a great location. The description was accurate, hot tub was in good condition, new charcoal grill, the pool table was a fun activity in the evenings, could use better social seating arrangements for eating as a group or playing cards.

We wish we could give this property a higher rating but there were a few issues discovered during our stay. We’ll start with the good. The property is in an excellent location in between Blackwater Falls and Canaan Valley Resort. It’s pet friendly which was great for us and also quite spacious. There’s a great back deck with beautiful views and a really nice grill provided. There are updates to the kitchen and new TVs throughout the home.
However, our review must also consider the things that weren’t so great. First impression was that the property needed a thorough cleaning. Some of the countertops were dirty and areas of the carpet were dirty. For this reason, we didn’t walk around much without shoes on our feet. We also noted ants in the kitchen area and after cleaning the counters that seemed to help the situation.
We were not fans of the mattresses. The large king bed on the main floor is completely worn and needs replaced. My wife and I felt like we were sinking toward the middle of the bed. After two nights of poor sleep, we moved to another bedroom with twin beds which was a little better.
Perhaps the biggest concern was a leak in the shower connected to the king bedroom. We were taking showers when another guest noted water pouring from the basement ceiling. The concern is that it was leaking near an electric vent fan in the ceiling which is a safety issue.
We did go to the rental office to express our concern with the water leak issue so that they would realize there was a problem. We told the rental office that we wouldn’t need it fixed during our stay and could just use the other available showers.
All in all, our stay was good. We realize that these properties won’t be as clean and comfortable as our own homes but were a little concerned about the water leak and the overall cleanliness. The property is in a great location and dog friendly. If the property received a few updates and more detailed cleaning, we’d be able to give this more stars.

Relaxing hiking vacation with the family
My family of 4 enjoyed this property for 5 nights. The property was just as described and we found it comfortable and clean and the kitchen was well equipped. The property was convenient to the Dolly Sods trailheads and Blackwater Falls, where we spent most of our time hiking. Returning each afternoon to the hot tub overlooking Mirror Lake was a great way to end each day. Pool table was fun for rainy days, although one pool cue had to be shared because all the others were broken. We hope to return soon in order to see more of this beautiful area and would hope to stay here again.

Great Stay
We loved the house and location and had a great stay! The house itself is laid out very well and is very spacious. We really enjoyed the large deck, gorgeous views, hot tub, pool table and central location to so many amazing spots. The house could use some updating/freshening up, some nicer towels and sheets and a few more basic amenities but overall it was a great stay and we'll definitely be back.

This is the best camping I did with my friends ever. Everything is so good organized and worth.
My experience was good, there were everything you need in house and it was clean and enough everything. It’s the best house I rented for us. It’s worth viewing and hot tab gives you so chill and I loved being at the house. I would give you 10/10

A fun, relaxing adventure
Our property was everything we could have hoped for. Beautiful views, tons of space, great views and close to many destinations.

Good location
It was a good location, between Canaan and Davis. House was perfect for us, and very clean. It was my first time booking on VRBO, and I had to call the management company the day we arrived to figure out the check in process as we received no information on where the keys would be located, etc.
Other than that, it was a great trip!

Great part of the country!
Great part of the country! We wanted a place where we could meet in the middle with some out-of-state family and had never been to this part of West Virginia before. It was everything we could’ve hoped for

It is a great place in a great location
Had bad weather during stay — but no matter, because house is so great. Pool table and hot tub kept us entertained.

It was a relaxing, comfortable weekend, unfortunately, cut short by the pending storm so we left on Sunday. We did, however, appreciate the offer to check out late on Monday. So sorry we couldn't avail ourselves of that opportunity.

We really enjoyed the views from and layout of this beautiful home. It's perfect for two families who like a little space - the lower level has a separate living area and two separate bathrooms. It was very clean, but does need a few updates. The ceiling in downstairs bathroom is boarded up like there was a leak recently and some bath mats look well worn, as well as the couches in the main living room. It really is a beautiful place though, and we would stay again! Make sure you hike down to the ponds and beyond!

Nice area with 'ok' space to stay
The house itself was ok; although it hadn't been deep cleaned in a while. The bedside tables were covered with dust, windows and screens were very dirty. The view was excellent; the hot tub was clean, and not enough comfortable furniture. The kitchen was clean. The linens had WAY too much fragrance. We had to wash them without soap two times to sleep on them our 2nd night. They had an EXCELLENT tour book to find your way around the area. And the biggest challenge was the address was NOT visible from the street. That was extremely difficult for us the night we arrived.

Great weekend getaway!
We spent a great weekend at the cabin with friends. The house was perfectly set-up for 7 adults. We spent evenings cooking in the kitchen, making fires, and using the hot tub. The location was great and we loved being able to make the short drive to Dolly Sods.

Great Views!
The house was clean and comfortable during our entire week stay. The fall weather was perfect to be in the hot tub and enjoy the mountain views!

Great spot for Fall Break!
This was a perfect spot for our fall break trip. The house was awesome and the kitchen was well stocked with dishes/appliances. Gorgeous view. Great location in regards to hiking trails. We look forward to visiting again!

Wedding weekend
My bridal party stayed here for our wedding weekend and it was perfect! Great views of the fall leaves! We had a blast!

The home upon arrival was wonderful. We woke to an insect infestation. We reported it and the property manager had someone come vacuum them up. We awoke each day with more and more. The only property they could move us to didn’t have any a/c. We asked for a credit because we couldn’t use the down stairs. They were considerate enough to give us a $10 refund on a very expensive rental. So disappointed.

Great place to stay. Within walking distance of Mirror Lake. Nice view of the lake. We really enjoyed our stay. Lower level is a bit damp feeling but it is the basement.
