Very quaint-it was in a good location. You could walk to several shops and restaurants.
The room was way smaller than I anticipated, especially for what I paid! I thought I was going to get a queen or king bed, which is what I usually book. When I looked in the room, it was clearly a double. The room was very small with only one chair to sit in. It had barely enough room to walk around the bed. There was no bedside table on one side. The TV was the size of a computer monitor. That was actually no big deal for me, since I don’t watch a lot of TV. The real problem was all of the noise that kept waking me up throughout the entire night. There was some kind of knocking and banging that kept turning on and off. My husband theorized that it was some type of water pipe that would activate and start banging on the walls like somebody was knocking on your wall. Needless to say I did not sleep much.

Quirky, but old hotel given a coat of paint and called good!!!!! Well it’s not really that good! Rustic would be a good term but not for me thank you
Too dated, oh and no breakfast despite taking the booking with it included, some story about change of owner and no way to change this on booking.com,

The restaurant, food and service were outstanding.
Too bright during the night. The room needs heavy curtains to block out the street neon lights.

Vintage- Hotel, sehr sehr nettes Hotel, super freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal. Kein Fernseher. Entgegen der Buchung bietet das Hotel gar kein Frühstück inbegriffen an. Fehler von booking. Sehr ärgerlich.
Kein Frühstück- trotz Buchung. Fehler von Booking.com.

There was no continental breakfast. We had read that this was not true in reviews so believe it. We did not eat dinner at the hotel as we found a great pub accross the street. This is why you stay in downtown hotels. While Onancock is trending up, there is not much to do. The shops were mostly closed (Friday). We had to go to Cape Charles to find things to do.
There is no cell service in the town until about dusk. Don't ask me why. You have to go back to the highway to get a bar. Most places did not have wifi (the hotel did) If you need internet, don't come here.
It is an old building (good), but the stairway was quite steep. I think considering the town is largely in transition from being dead to having a tourist industry. It would have been nice for them to be more honest about the breakfast. We really didn't care, but using the excuse of COVID-19 is kind of lame.
There is no cell service in the town until about dusk. Don't ask me why. You have to go back to the highway to get a bar. If you are like me and grew up without cell phones and the internet it's actually positive to see people sitting in a bar and talking.
This is not the hotel's fault, but cops are everywhere. It's a real speed trap and gives a VERY unwelcoming feeling to the peninsula. I don't speed, but I came so close to getting a ticket because the speeds go up and down. Great way to attract tourists.

Location was perfect for a stop on our way to the Outer Banks. Cute historic downtown, quirky and pleasing decor, fantastic restaurant and super comfy beds. Very nice shower.
Since the building is older, it’s a little noisy. We could hear everyone coming up the stairs and going down the hallway, and also the phone in the lobby. But at night it was very quiet so it was fine for us.

It was beautiful, serene, comfortable and quite magical. Charlotte and her husband created this quiet refuge from the modern world 20 years ago! It nearly looks like yesterday. Her artistic stamp is everywhere and she literally painted and stenciled to give everything her special touch. It was an unexpected delight after booking on line from photos (they didn't do it justice). It is my new favorite small hotel in an historic town. The restaurant was closed on my night's stay or we surely would have dined there.

It has charm and the friendliness
The room was not comfortable. The bed is extremely high off ground. Small computer screen tv and not easy to manipulate due to lack of cable. The internet was awful. We had dinner in their restaurant and they charged separate for any side dish and the price was 8.00 or more. Very expensive and the food was not worth the price. The hotel needs a little updating and it would be amazing.

Great hotel. Loved the historic building, beautiful art work. The location cant be beat-in the middle of Onancock. This made walking everywhere easy. Very safe and amazing town. Great people. The staff at the hotel are warm and friendly. The resturant was great too! No better place to stay in Onancock.

Everything, This was a overnight stop over with limited time to spend. Not our typical choice of accommodations. So we weren't sure what to expect. A small town charm and gracious hospitality with a mix of back in the day vibe. The Charlotte was exceptional from the staff to their restaurant and bar area. The Lobster Bisque is to die for. The hotel and room was charming and very clean. It's a very old building restored to a vintage feel so dont compare it to modern day accommodations and you will enjoy the experience. The hotel also has impressive historical value. Be sure to visit the Blarney Stone across the street, they're awesome too. .
Will return for a longer stay for the fun of it.
Having to leave too soon.

What a great place! Nice spot in the middle of town, easy to find, even blindfolded. I had arranged a bit of a early check in but didn't see the envelop for me when I went inside tor reception. DUH. I just saw the sign that said, " check in at 5." So I went back out and walked around some more, which was a bonus actually. Beautiful historic area, architecture is stunning...Everyone was decked out for Halloween which was another bonus. The room was fab with rustic-looking furniture and marble type flooring. Nice view out the back, no really! AND the windows raise and lower! Room had two heating/cooling systems so you couldn't go wrong, though I enjoyed opening the window for a cool night. The bed was THE most comfortable I have ever slept in and I have traveled all over the world! GADS! Pillows are amazing! The shower was brilliant with that huge overhead spray...Just wow. Water temp was easily adjustable to just right. Pressure was perfect. Bathroom is medium sized but has everything you need I guarantee it. Even tissues! Wifi was great, tv worked well but only watched an hour or so. The lobby is small and quaint and gorgeous, and you can find coffee ( k cups ) there night and day. Ice as well. I don't do breakfast but their continental offerings were tempting indeed! That muffin was as big as my fist! The lady at morning reception ( forgive me for not noting her name ) was very polite, friendly and helpful. Bar and tap room across the street were pretty quiet for a bar and tap room, but it was a Monday so....Wish I had stayed a bit longer!!!
My ONLY negative is the lack of parking space close to Inn. I did snag a place in the front lane a few doors down ( parallel parking on street ) but the lot around the corner does not have great lighting. Now on Market street you can find parking at night under a street lamp on off season I am sure..And that is just around the corner...

It was a quaint little hotel with only 8 rooms. The girl at the front deck was very nice at check in and very helpful when we checked out offering to make us coffee and providing a light breakfast. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable
The TV was very small and looked more like a desktop computer. We didn't mind as we were too tired to watch TV!

Nothing.
No one to welcome you, only an envelope with instructions. Room much smaller than advertised. 'Breakfast' a sugary mess wrapped in plastic (although there's a bakery in town). Toilet handle came loose after using it once.
Main air conditioning can be switched off, but cooler fan inserted into the window sounds like a train crashing through your room, even when set to 'off'. We paid for two nights but left after one sleepless night, losing the money. Staff member we told at breakfast was nice, but said refund would have to come through booking.com ...

Unique!
No mini fridge in room

There was no breakfast as advertised. There were some buns and yogurt thrown in a basket the night before
The room was really small and uncomfortable. There was no elevator and the steps were really steep. There was no one to help us up the steps with our bags.

We loved the old fashion feel of the hotel and town. It was like jumping back in time to a simpler, small-town era. Parked right in front of hotel and there was no parking fee. Enjoyed meeting the owner. The staff could not have been nicer to my wife and me. Food was the best we could remember. King bed very comforable. Large room (#21). Took a short walk to the harbor and saw historic homes and church. (Recommend using bug spray). Walked through this very small town and visited several art shops. The Charlotte dosen't serve breakfast. However, just a short walk up the street there is a bakery making the best warm donuts you've ever tasted. This is only one mile off of the main road and very easy to find. Half way between Ocean City and Norfolk. We look forward to our next stay! We have already been telling our friends about our experience.
Jan and Glenn from Pittsburgh area.
Some of the shops were not opened that looked very interesting. Really nothing else disappointed us.

The location was delightful and we are big fans of boutique hotels, so this fit the bill. Having stayed here once previously, we had positive expectations.
The key/lock system on the door to our room was barely operable. It was a coin toss as to whether we would be able to re-enter the room each time we left. On one of the occasions we had to fetch the front desk attendant to come up and use another key to open the door and she had the same trouble.
We were also TREMENDOUSLY disappointed to arise the next morning anticipating the hot breakfast included in the price of the room and touted not only on the website, but also referred to twice in the room notebook. There was nothing but a cold, continental breakfast and apologies available the next morning.

Enjoyed walking up stairs. Helps exercise my hips. Liked arty ambiance. Good location for walking around town.
Even for a continental breakfast it was pretty skimpy. Stayed 2 days. 2 tiny, thin-skinned oranges in basket first morning. Took 1, almost impossible to peel-a juice orange. 2nd morning-only 1 tiny orange left. Didn't even bother with it.
