About this house rental
12 Oakridge is one of 20 properties located on a private estate set in 40 acres of unspoilt countryside which borders the famous St Mellion Estate in Cornwall, voted 20th in the Golf World Top 100 Best Golf Resorts in Great Britain and Ireland (2023).
As well as providing access to the golf & leisure facilities at St Mellion Estate (see further details below), the lodge provides a great base for exploring the wonderful countryside, beaches and numerous tourist attractions that Devon and Cornwall have to offer.
Lodge rental includes 2No* golf passes which permit two people FREE use of the two championship golf courses, plus 2No leisure passes which permit two people FREE use the leisure facilities at St Mellion Estate.
* NB: additional golfers are entitled to a Member Guest rate of circa 40 - 50% off the standard green fee rate (different rates apply depending on time / day / week / month).
GOLF
St Mellion is renowned as one of England’s finest golf venues, boasting two championship courses which ensures it is a regular in the top UK course rankings.
SIGNATURE COURSE
Opened in 1988, the Jack Nicklaus design 'Signature' course was the Golden Bear's first project in the UK - the course opened to rave reviews with Nicklaus himself being quoted “I knew it was going to be good, but not this good..... it’s everything I hoped for and more”
The course measures 7,019 yds from the championship tees and provides a thorough examination, but there are tees to suit golfers of all abilities. The course blends into the landscape and the design places a premium on finding the correct position from the elevated tees in order to attack the flags. Inaccuracy will be punished severely by the strategically positioned bunkers and water hazards or the rough. The Signature course can boast hosting various prestigious events including the B & H International Open, English Amateur Championship, English Seniors Open & PGA European Tour's English Open and was the scene of some classic battles between the great golfers of the ‘80s & ‘90s. Past winners of St Mellion tournaments include Seve Ballesteros, Nick Faldo, Sandy Lyle, Bernhard Langer & Jose Maria Olazabal.
KERNOW COURSE
Opened in 1976 and formerly known as the Old Course, the Kernow offers a fine championship layout in its own right which hosted various prestigious events prior to the arrival of the Signature course, including the B&H International Open & the Tournament Players Championship.
Although it is not particularly long by modern standards measuring 5,782 yards, there is no shortage of challenge and intrigue following a major face-lift in 2008 which saw the addition of new lakes and bunkers, plus some totally rebuilt putting surfaces.
This has seen the Kernow develop into a very popular golf course with members & visitors alike - the relatively wide fairways & large greens means the course provides a perfect foil for the Nicklaus Course which has gained a popular following. In a recent survey it was included in the Top 5 "2nd Courses" in the UK’s best 36-hole golf courses.
LEISURE
The two leisure passes provide 2 adult & 2 child (up to 12 years old) memberships which offer free access to the following facilities....
• 25 metre competition pool with lane ropes + large leisure pool + baby pool (32 deg C) for the under 5's
• Spa pool (jacuzzi) & sauna (both newly refurbished Dec 2021) plus steam room

• Range of classes including zumba, spin etc (can be booked up to 7 days in advance)

There was everything you needed in the Lodge, with 3 children we cooked quite a bit, and it was home from home. The surroundings were beautiful and safe for children to play. The membership cards allowing access to Spa and Golf was wonderful. I would recommend Oakridge and we would certainly return.

Really nice setting, cottage was clean and facilities were great. If I have one grumble it is the mattresses - not sure if they were old but we really struggled to sleep and I really feel an upgrade is needed.
4.7
Great location - lodge was great and added bonus FREE golf at an amazing Golf course which has 2 courses - would definitely think about re booking in the future

The house was everything it said it would be. The location is excellent and the golf and swimming passes make it perfect.
Thank you for a wonderful week.

Honestly if you are looking for a great place to stay and relax with friends this is the place, the surroundings are beautiful and the house is so welcoming. We visit yearly and are looking forward to our break next year!!!

Very good location. Nice and well presented house. Very pleased. Thank you.

The property and setting were idyllic. I just want to point out when pulling a draw open on chest of draws in a double room the front fell off. This was not misuse.

Had a wonderful stay at this Oakridge property. Fabulous location and facilities for the St Mellion Golf courses.
Simon's communication was second to none and he gave a wealth of local information.

this property was last sold in 2009 and is now beginning to show its age. the rooms are small, the bathrooms smaller. the kitchen serves a purpose, SKY and wifi are the height of technical modernity.
the location is good if you want to get away from it all, but in the back end of beyond if you want more. a tree lined approach betrays the reality and is not for the faint hearted. availability of the hotel and estate facilities is useful, however, it is a drive away (7-10mins) and parking is limiited at the hotel.
overall very disappointing, the price maybe cheap for 6, still low on the value for money scale.
4.7
The property was as we expected having stayed at Oakridge many times and was very enjoyable.
Nice welcoming bottle of wine, bread and milk left by host

Well located (green, quiet, close to Plymouth and Cornish coast). The house is in need of a refurbishment (especially all 3 bathrooms and the kitchen). Living area is spatious, bedrooms are small. Communication with owner was OK. Facilities at Health & Leisure Center are good. Friendly staff. EV charging stations at the Center.

The property was ideal for golf at the St Mellion golf club a few minutes away.
Although the property was spacious it was in need of a bit of TLC both inside and outside, paintwork is flaking and scuffed everywhere and all rooms needed a thorough clean . The bathrooms in particular in need of updating.
Regardless of the above we enjoyed our stay

Our total experience at this VRBO property was above and beyond our expectations. The tranquil setting, the lovely condo and the access to
St. Mellion’s golf, leisure facilities and excellent restaurants made our Cornwall experience truly fabulous. Simon Parker provided us with excellent suggestions for our stay. He was quick to respond if we had a need or question. We hope to return again in the future.

Elderly couples, be aware - there are steep gravel paths, lots of steep stairs and extremely unsafe handrails, many of which are rotten and breaking up. The beds were uncumfortable, the unit shabby and the shower in one of the ensuites only gave a dribble of water. All in all, we definitely do not recommend this property. Very disappointed. The only thing that was acceptable was the kitchen/living area, that was very nice.
4.7
3 ensuite bathrooms and only shower that worked properly was in twin room. Has been mentioned before & not acted on!
Oven not clean & took over 35 mins to eventually heat up even after reading instructions but no lights showed on display to help.
All windows need cleaning inside & out as very grimy.
4.7
The property offers an ideal base to explore the area or as in our case, play two wonderful golf courses and take advantage of the spa facilities.
It was our second time staying at Oakridge and despite the poor weather we thoroughly enjoyed our trip. We'll definitely be returning.
4.7
Easy to organise booking etc & house had everything you could need.
Will be booking again soon
Thank you

Oakridge 12 is a stunning property in a secluded area. St Mellion Golf and Leisure Resort is just a 5 minute drive away and the use of the leisure/golf passes was great. The property is well maintained, well equipped kitchen with lots of utensils and some great touches; coffee, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets etc. Bedrooms were lovely, towels and bed linen provided. Water piping hot, and great showers in each room. Overall we would highly recommend and Simon always replied quickly to any questions I had. The property was very well furnished. THANK YOU, hopefully will return.

Perfect setting, the leisure passes are a great touch. So easy and having a balcony and decking to the rear makes relaxing and a family BBQ. Having a washer/dryer was brilliant after beach days was a massive help. This was a real home from home, would highly recommend

Great location ideal leisure facilities lots of places to visit but car is required
It was a fairly straightforward process to book and our host Simon was always available for any questions would definitely recommend if you want a relaxing time away from the normal hustle and bustle

A lovely holiday home, a little bit isolated, but you can drive to the North and West Coasts in 30-40 miles. Bedrooms all have their own ensuite and the kitchen and lounge is very spacious. All very clean. Recommended. Communications from owner perfect.

We visited as a family of four, with two children under 10. The property has three bedroom, which as mentioned in other reviews are on the small side, and each has an ensuite. The living space is upstairs and is a good space for a short break.
The pros:
- The property is well located for visiting local sites around Cornwall/Devon.
- The passes for St Mellion golf and leisure are great value, with as much access as you want to the course or pool.
- Very quite setting, hidden in the woods.
The cons:
- The property is a little tired, especially within the bedrooms and bathrooms.
- The kitchen is not as well stocked as you might need if a large group or making all meals at the property.
- It is on a hillside so might be difficult for very young or immobile guests.
This property is ideal for anyone looking to play golf at St Mellion and to use the swimming pool and gym (free) or visit the spa (reasonable prices). I would certainly consider a visit again to do those things, although probably with golf buddies rather than kids. If you don't intend to utilise these things fully it may not be the one for you.

Superb property for a small group of friends with the added bonus of two great (and challenging) golf courses on the doorstep at St Mellion. Highly recommended and already planning a future visit

This is a well equipped peaceful warm place to stay.
We arrived to a lovely warm lodge. There are steps up to the property which my dad would struggle with but we had no problem with a 7 year old and baby.
The location is lovely with some walks nearby but we are guilty of enjoying the leisure facilities and staying in to play board games the rest of the time. You have to drive to the club, we didn't fancy the walk but with a baby in tow we used the parent/baby parking spaces.
The pool had the majority of covid restrictions lifted with the exception of masks when we were there.
Its very family friendly with a warm shallow pool but equally the adult facilities and kept to adults only which was nice to see. You are made to feel very welcome and treated as a member with your passes. We had light snacks and a lunch there, enjoying the members discount.
We didn't use the bath or shower because we used the facilities at the golf club which are brilliant.
We manage to squeeze in a swim at 9am on Sunday before checking out.
Its a lovely touch having a TV in one of the bedrooms. I cuddled up with the little ones and watched some TV in the morning.
Thank you for sharing your lovely place with us. We hope to come again!
