Perfectly located close to many of the Lakes District’s top attractions, yet set back to offer a tranquil stay.
Sitting in a slightly elevated position with views out over Loughrigg fell, this property offers the best of both worlds: Ambleside village, with its pubs, restaurants and shops and the attractive, undulating landscape of fells and beautiful Rydal Water.

Bridge House stands over Stock Beck in the middle of Ambleside as a quirky reminder of Ambleside’s past; it is a 17th-century survivor.
Explore a quirky farmhouse with an even quirkier family at Townend, a 17th century farmhouse The Brownes were just an ordinary family of farmers, living in Troutbeck near Windermere, but their quirky home at Townend and their belongings bring to life over 400 years of extraordinary stories and characters
There are excellent walking opportunities amidst beautiful, unspoilt countryside there are dozens of walks from the door step with the Fairfield Horseshoe providing a good days walk for the more adventurous.
Alternatively get the steamer down the lake to visit other villages or walking on the the shores of lake Windermere (10 miles long). Or simply chug to the Lakes Aquarium at Lakeside which takes a look at the marine life of Lake Windermere. You can combine this with the ferry to Fell Foot where you can hire rowing boats or sailing craft, simply swim or picnic by the shore or let the young ones loose on the adventure playground.
While over to the west lies Coniston Water, and in between there’s Grizedale Forest. A day out in itself for walking or mountain biking or tackling the impressive ‘Go Ape’ high ropes course. Beyond this lies the central massif of the Langdales for some high level walking and climbing.
So if you want to walk, cycle, sail climb, ride, explore, fly or cruise this unique area has an abundance of woodland walks as well as fell walking, coastal walks, cycle paths and quiet leafy lanes to explore or you can name your adrenaline rush and you’ll find it! A lovely property in an excellent location.
It was spotlessly clean and equipped with everything you could possibly need.
All the info needed about the property during our stay was clear and at hand.
We found the maps and walks books extremely helpful.
The property is also ideally placed for stunning walks, a few craft shops and eating places without having to use the car!
We would definitely recommend a stay there and will hopefully be returning next year.
Thank you Lesley
Kind regards

There may be a better venue to stay in this area, but there's no way I would waste another second of my life trying to find it as long as Underhill is available.
It has everything you could possibly want inside the accommodation, together with a few things you didn't know you wanted until you'd stayed there. It's very much a home away from home, with a wonderful location right in the town but high enough up to feel like you are out of town whilst offering a superb panorama from the bedroom and lounge area.
We really couldn't fault it. Like any property, it has a few of its own little idiosyncrasies, which you soon get used to and we were very sad to have to leave when it came time to.
The only note of caution is that the road up to the property is steep in places, as is the short cut into town, so perhaps not suitable for anyone with mobility restrictions.
Would highly recommend.

This apartment has stunning views over Ambleside. It proved an excellent base to explore the Lakes being so close to shops and transport links.
The kitchen is well equipped and the lounge area very comfortable. We had a fantastic break and the hosts could not do enough to make sure we enjoyed our stay. Recommended.

Top notch place to stay if you want a luxury apartment with a parking space that means you don’t have to drive once you’ve arrived. Right in town but with views. Best of all worlds.

We having been traveling throughout the UK for 6 months, staying at many places, and this apartment was one of our favorites! The apartment has an amazing view that never gets old, reserved parking, a great kitchen and lounge, and a great shower. The bed was one of the most comfortable we've slept in these many months. The balcony is a wonderful bonus. Ambleside is a very pleasant town to explore and call 'home'. It is also ideally situated. Keswick is too far north, Kendal too far south, and Windermere too frenetic. Ambleside is just right! Communication with the owner was great and we simply can't sing the praises of this apartment enough. We highly recommend it to anyone wishing to visit the Lake District.

Excellent location, great view of town and fells, near shops, restaurants, buses. Comfortable bed and seating, kitchen works. Very quiet.
I had problems with Vrbo messaging communication, but this is not owner’s fault. This is a great place—my stay was two weeks, and not long enough.

Underhill provided us with a perfect base for our latest visit to Ambleside. The apartment was comfortable, very well equipped and tastefully furnished. Views from the lounge area were stunning, both of the town and the wider environs. Close proximity to the town was a definite advantage too! It was our second visit to the flat….. we intend to book again when we next visit the area.

Amazing few days in Ambleside. The apartment was brilliant with everything you could possibly need Lots of small details thought of such as throws / candles / dvds to make it a relaxing, cosy winter stay. Location is right in Ambleside with private parking. A steep 2 minute walk to the village gives access to all the amenities. Would highly recommend this apartment.

Clean, well-equipped, excellent location, parking and great communication with the owner.
To be honest I’m loathed to say how much I loved the apartment (and sitting on the balcony admiring the sunset with a glass of something) because it might not be available next time I want to book!

It’s not often you stay somewhere where you can find no faults with the accommodation, location, and weather, but this past week we managed to do just that. Yes, we were probably lucky with the weather being so exceptional but you take what you get right. The apartment is absolutely immaculate and the owners have left no stone unturned in making sure you have everything you need for a perfect vacation. It’s comfortable, spacious, has fantastic views over the town and the fells, and is located conveniently to reach so many areas of the county. We had an amazing week and will definitely be back again in the future. Thank you Lesley!

Just returned from our first visit to Underhill. The apartment is clean, spacious, very comfortable and well equipped. I liked that there were instructions for all the equipment. It has a fantastic view over surrounding hills and the village itself and the allocated parking space was a great bonus. Look forward to returning in the future.
