Trullo San Marco is a delightful, recently restored traditional trulli farmhouse with a private pool, sleeping 10 to 12 people (and more) in 4/7 bedrooms. A magical property with the most amazing views over open countryside to the sea, it is on the edge of the little village of San Marco and also near fascinating old towns with good restaurants and only 20 minutes from the sea. Providing a perfect solution for two families or a larger family or group, this seven coned trullo has as its main living room a large converted coach-house with a high barrel ceiling. It is spacious and well equipped with mod cons but also full of character with all the original features preserved. Best of all, this lovely villa, while surrounded by fields and olive groves with unspoilt views across countryside to the Adriatic, is only 5 minutes' walk from a small village shop where you can buy everything you need including delicious local produce and fresh bread from a wood oven. Next door to the shop, opposite a medieval chapel, is an authentic little bar/cafe with snacks and ice creams at ridiculously cheap prices. Just by the chapel is a wine and olive oil outlet, with fabulous tastings/lunches that you can walk home from! Trullo San Marco is near the small town of Locorotondo (officially listed as 'one of the most beautiful in Italy' and Alex 'Secret Italy' Polizzi's favourite place in Puglia) and within short driving distance of many of Puglia's prettiest little hill towns like Cisternino, Ostuni, Martina Franca and the Trullo town of Alberobello.
You enter the house through the hall, which also has a double sofa bed in a coned alcove. On the right there is a large dining room/ living room with a high barrel vaulted ceiling . Off the sitting room is a large family suite of conical ceilinged rooms, made up of a double bedroom plus a large room which has a single/double bed and a single sofa bed and a further room with a single bed and pull out single bed. To the left of the entrance hall there is a coned double bedroom and a coned room with double sofa bed. Each suite of rooms has access to its own family bathroom. On the roof terrace there is a romantic double bedroom with en-suite, a/c and panoramic views to the sea. Terrace garden for outside dining under shady pergola. Barbecue, traditional and pizza oven. Private 8m by 4m outside pool with solar cover and enclosed hot/cold shower. Plenty of sun loungers. All bed linen, table linen and towels etc included. Beach towels also included. Weekly cleaning and bed linen changing.

We had a lovely stay at the trulli in San Marco. The house departmentalisation gives good room for private hours when staying in a big group. We loved especially the swimming pool and the village and area is beautiful and the welcoming neighbors. I hope we get a chance to come to Puglia again.

Hello James
Just some feedback after our stay at your place in San Marco:
All in all a lovely place and quite charming. However, we feel it only right to comment on a few things:
Frustrating that the tap in the kitchen was leaking (if some tools had been available we could have fixed it ourselves)
Just 2 dish cloths in the kitchen for 12 people and no towel is perhaps underestimated
No parasol to be found anywhere despite the fact that there were three bases for one
The drains for all the handbasins and baths were clogged and water took some time to seep through
None of the above could spoil a holiday, but a small effort could have made it even better.

We were three generations, ten people, celebrating our 50th Anniversary and we had a fabulous stay.
The house is charming, rustic as expected of a converted farmhouse but with everything we needed. The jasmine was in full bloom when we arrived and will always be in my memory of Puglia. The central location made it easy to visit many of the lovely towns in the area with a short drive, and having the pool to come home to was great for the kids. The views from the roof deck are amazing, and San Marco is just a five minute walk away, with a well-stocked store and a cafe for morning coffee and pastries and afternoon gelato. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Dinner with Palma was a fun evening, and wine and olive oil tasting at Olimpia with Teresa is not to be missed.

We enjoyed the stay in the beautiful original Trulli house in a perfect location.

FAMILY TRIP TO SAN MARCO
We had a great trip here as a family to celebrate a birthday. A large enough, Self contained villa with a private pool is exactly what we wanted and this provided. It has lovely views and some nice outdoor space. The village is quaint with most things that you could possibly need, everybody is very friendly. Do ensure you have a car as it is remote (which is a bonus due to its serenity, but transport is required to get around). The only negative was the bedroom composition. We were a group that pushed the beds needed to the boundaries of capacity but not all can be classed as bedrooms which is not untypical in the region, you just need to be aware of that if you are more than say 6 adults.

We enjoyed our stay in Villa San Marco. It is centrally located, which enabled us to visit many other parts of Puglia. A real treat was to be able to walk into San Marco each morning, have our breakfast outside in a small park and shop for groceries in a well-stocked market. Thank you, James!

Lovely trullo house
We loved staying in a trullo with all its quirky rooms and character. The house and pool were perfect for adults and the children. We loved the village - friendly local people, a fantastic village store and close to beautiful towns such as Alberobello and Ostuni.

Amazing holiday!
As a large family of 11 people from 74 to 8 years old, this beautiful Trullo was the perfect house for us. Plenty of space for everyone, a fabulous pool and it was full of everything you may need. Just a short walk away from the local shops and cafe/bar. There are plenty of places to visit nearby, our favourite was Alberebello and it's Trulli Quarter. A great time was had by all just wished we had stayed longer!

Perfect Puglia
This wonderful sensitively converted Trulli house was just right for our three generation family gathering of 11 people. The owners and local contact were all very helpful and did all they could to make our stay very comfortable.
San Marco is ideally situated for pretty Locorotondo, the beaches north and south of nearby Fasano, the beautiful towns of Martina Franca, Ostuni and Lecce and of course the UNESCO heritage site of Alberobello. We enjoyed walking through the adjoining cherry orchards, meeting the friendly farmers and of course lazing by the pool in peace and tranquility. The village shop is exceptionally well stocked and the owner is friendly and helpful. The outside pizza oven was easy to use and the children loved the results which were followed by watching the stunning sunsets from the roof terrace.
We couldn't recommend it highly enough and are already planning a return visit. Fred & Mary

Lovely Holiday
We have returned form a week in Trullo San Marco and we had a wonderful holiday. The villa was clean, well equipped and spacious. The location is in a quiet country village with lovely views and a short drive to lots of towns and beaches The notes from the owner were very helpful in finding our way around. The local shop, 5 mins walk is well stocked and owners are friendly and helpful The pool was available but too cold at this time of year though we did get to sit by it most days. Overall we had a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

What a great place!
We had a fantastic family holiday in this beautiful house in a great region new to us. There were four couples aged 29 to 63 and all relaxing for a week. The pool was fantastic and the views sublime. It got stormy later in the week (the lightening was rather exciting) but that gave us a chance to visit the spectacular towns in the region and take advantage of all the culinary specialities. Everything was just great and the advice on what to see and do from the owner was really useful.

Just lovely
We (a family of 5 - kids 12, 9 and 7) treated ourselves to this very special holiday over the May half term 2016. Right from the start the owner was attentive and helpful providing lots of information on the villa and on the local area, responding very quickly to emails we sent asking for their advice. On arrival we were met by the local agent who was also friendly and helpful. The villa itself I couldn't fault, very well equipped, clean and tidy with lovely, homely decor. The pool also is great - just the right size for us - the kids were in it most of the time having such fun. We concluded that the end of May is a good time to go for us - the weather was great but not too hot, the local area is rich in flora and fauna - there's so much to see - and the most magical smell of jasmine and honeysuckle filled the air in the garden, accompanied by the sound of bees. Locorotondo and the surrounding area offers loads to do. We were not short of places to visit with mornings spent mooching around a local town or city ( Ostuni, Monopoli, or the caves at Castellana Grotte) and then in the afternoon exploring the coast - great for snorkelling with the kids in the shallow clear, calm waters of the Adriatic - particularly lovely at Polignano a Mare. The locals, too, were all very friendly and helpful and welcomed our attempts at Italian, filling in when we were out of our depth. We spent most of our money in the local shop with its lovely cheeses, meats and local products. This is a place we'd love to come back to and to bring more of the family to enjoy.

A 'Trulli' Sumptuous Taste of Italy
We spent two weeks at this beautiful trulli and would love to return. Two families went and in total there were nine of us. This part of Italy is stunning with fantastic weather and numerous whitewashed towns. The trulli itself is in a village called San Marco which is a small and quiet agricultural, working village in the region of Puglia. The trulli is full of character with many original features. When we arrived, the English property manager showed us around and was very friendly and helpful offering advice about local places we could visit etc. There was plenty of space in the trulli for all of us and was very well equipped, inside (board games, wi-fi, TVs, books etc) and outside (sun loungers, umbrellas, inflatables, outside shower etc) The trulli has a roof terrace which has gorgeous views and the outside dining area is sheltered with a bbq and outside sink. There is a local shop with very friendly and helpful owners. It is less than a five minute walk from the trulli. You can get everything you need there from local cheeses and meats to washing powder and alcohol! There are many local towns which are definitely worth a visit; Alberobello which has many trullis and is a UNESCO world heritage site, Locorotondo, a beautiful historic town with a labyrinth of white alleys, Martina Franca, another beautiful old town surrounded by stone walls with lots of piazzas and narrow, winding streets and Ostuni, built on top of a hill and commonly referred to as "the White Town" ("La Città Bianca") for its white walls and its typically white-painted architecture. Another place worth visiting are the Castellana caves where you can go on a guided tour of the caves. We also visited a local water park called Acqua Splash which was close to Alberobello and was perfect for the age range of children we had (5-10 years). All of these places are close to the trulli and can be reached by car in under half an hour or so. If you can bear to tear yourself away from the peaceful poolside, there are many beautiful beaches too. The food was amazing and we ate out at many fine restaurants. The owners have helpfully left notes in the trulli detailing local restaurants and places to visit. This trulli is to be highly recommended and is home from home. It was our first visit to Italy and has definitely given us a taste and we wouldn't hesitate to return!

Italian Paradise!
My wife and I and our two girls spent a glorious week at this beautiful trullo.
The secluded peaceful location was just what we needed to unwind before the arrival of our third child.
The girls would have spent the whole week in the swimming pool if they could but we managed to convince them to try one of the amazing beach locations for the day which we all enjoyed, padding in the sea and collecting shells. Even though we don't speak Italian we always found somewhere to eat or drink with a waiter or waitress happy to use their English skills.
We would love to return one day to explore the coast line some more and indulge in the fresh sea food and lovely fine wine which we sampled only a small amount!
Another outing we would recommend is the Zoo Park, a fun packed day which is fabulous for anyone with or without children.
We found ourselves shopping at the local shop just a walk away for our supplies (wine, beer, ice cream etc.) and enjoyed some fantastic sunset dinners in the pergola area.
Anyone who visits this part of the world and stays in this home from home will book again I am sure.

Fantastic trullo
This was an ideal holiday for us - the trullo easily fitted our two families with separate bathrooms and kitchens and it was all impeccable when we arrived. The kids spent most of the time in the pool which was very clean and well maintained. The pool looks out over the countryside at the edge of the village and you get even better views from the roof terrrace, which also has a separate ensuite double room. The trullo - actually eight trulli combined into one - is very beautiful and tastefully decorated, but it has a real family feel. The village has its own shop and bar, and everyone we met was very friendly. There are some lovely towns nearby with some outstanding restaurants and the beaches are a short drive away. Altogether a fantastic holiday home. We can't wait to go back!

What a wonderful week!
Hello James and Jenny! I have been wanting to write since the first morning we woke up in your gorgeous trullo but havent had time until now that we are home, what a trulli wonderful place! (ha ha) And the love and thought that you have put into it is so appreciated, we felt so comfortable, a real home away from home and yet so magical and different from our normal life. It almost made me want to move to England so we can holiday there every year!! That is the one (only?!) problem with Australia, too far from everywhere else!! The house was perfect for the 2 families, enough space for us all and of course the Wii, DVD and satellite TV were well used, especially when another Irishman won the golf… We were very pleased to have left our youngest in London though I realise he would have been well catered for there, but not nearly as relaxing with him around! And Puglia was everything I had hoped and more, such fantastic food, beautiful towns and still so low-key without the hordes of people and glamour you find in other parts and that are not at all what we want at this time in our life. I hope it manages to retain its charm in the years to come and doesn’t get to over-run when the masses start coming as they are bound to do.
All your recommendations were taken up though we never got to Lido Bizarro though found a couple of others that suited us fine and we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the beaches and water, we enjoyed them very much and was a nice change from the pool (which was well used, don’t worry!) The week went so fast, we didn’t get to the Arco Antico restaurant until our last night which was a shame as we could easily have eaten there a few times, such wonderful food and so CHEAP!! Coming from Sydney where everything is so expensive now we really couldn’t believe it… you are so lucky to have such as great place as your ‘local’… I could go on and on, but must reserve special thanks to Comasia who did her best to help me when I unexpectedly woke up on the morning of our departure with a seriously bad back problem that had me bent over like an old lady and barely able to move! Please tell her we did make our flight and the very kind Dr at the Pronto Soccorso in the airport gave me something that worked like magic and by the time I got to london was (almost) like new… apologies to her if we didn’t have things quite as spick and span as I would have liked when she and cleaners arrived.
Anyway, once again, thank you for letting us enjoy your

Wonderful!!
We had a big family holiday at the Trullo San Marco with my wife’s family – grandmother, parents, sister+fiancé and our three boys.
There was plenty of room for all of us in this beautifully restored old house which is hidden away in a very peaceful setting. We loved the views – from the roof terrace (safely fenced and gated) you can even see ships passing down the Adriatic sea.
Our children lived in the pool by day and loved the fact that we could all walk into the nearby village and buy ice creams from the little bar in the evening. The shop which is only a few minutes’ walk away was a godsend with everything we needed and run by a really friendly family. The local restaurant served fantastic food at silly prices – with big pizzas from the wood oven for 5 or 6 Euros.
We can recommend the beaches at the local Lidos which have beach bars, loungers and showers and our kids loved the big Aquapark on the coast nearby. Grown-ups enjoyed evening trips to very pretty nearby towns like Locorotondo and Cisternino.
We would highly recommend Trullo San Marco for a large family or two families holidaying together and we will definitely be returning there!!

Absolutely lovely!
I stayed in Trullo San Marco with my husband and two children aged 8 and 11 together with my sister, her husband and two children aged 7 and 10. The trullo was more than big enough to accommodate both families and the layout meant that each family had privacy when needed. The kitchen was very well equipped and because we chose to eat in most evenings the dish washer was a god send! We spent most days by the pool but when we did venture to the beaches ,which were a 20 min drive away, they were never over crowded. Our evenings were either spent walking around locorotondo and eating lots of ice cream from the gelaterias or chatting with the locals at the bar in san marco which was a few mins walk away. The local shop has everything from fish fingers to locally produced wine and there is also a little pharmacy. The neighbours were lovely and presented us with home grown figs and pears. The manager of the Trullo was also very accommodating and when one of our children developed a high temperature she arranged an appointment with the local pediatrician and accompanied us to the appointment - thank you! We had a wonderful time and you will too if you choose Trullo San Marco.
