About this villa rental
This fully air conditioned, elegant modern villa sits splendidly in 5 acres of land in the middle of a
gorgeous valley with breathtaking panoramic views. It is just a few minutes by car from the centre
of Modica. Light and spacious, the Villa is tastefully furnished and designed to provide comfortable
accommodation for up to 10 guests. It is equipped with a fireplace, Smart TV with Netflix for movies
and children’s entertainment, plenty of toys, screens on windows and 5 air-conditioned bedrooms.
From outside, the views are breathtaking: you may hear the peal of Modica's bells from a mile away
and the closer tinkling of cowbells. We have especially planned for the safety of small children and
babies. All access points to the pool have gates to keep young children safe and the saltwater pool
means no red eyes or chlorine smell.
We have a secure full-size playground of 140sq meters for the children to enjoy, large terraces
overlooking the countryside, a manicured garden interspersed with fruit trees and lawn areas
offering plenty of space in which to soak up the beauty of the Mediterranean landscape. The
private, solar-heated outdoor roman style pool is ideal for children to splash and paddle under the
vigilant eye of adults. The Villa also has a tennis court, zip line, Jacuzzi hot tub, playground for children, Ping Pong table, football table, and a fantastic outdoors dining area with Gas Weber BBQ,
sprawling garden and lots of spaces for adults to enjoy which are peaceful and relaxing.
At the far corner of the property, we have a petting zoo of domestic animals. There is a pony, a
donkey, chickens, ducks, geese, Tibetan goats, and much more, which kids and adults can interact
with if they like.
The Villa is environmentally friendly: we produce our own solar electricity and hot water and our
saltwater pool is heated by thermo solar panels. By coming to our villa your vacation will not
produce any carbon footprint.
We offer the best family holiday villa anywhere in Sicily;
• Maid service or a cook for an original Sicilian meal can be arranged at the time of booking
• English is spoken as a first language.
Sicily’s original thin-crusted pizza is a must try. As there’s a topping for every taste so everyone is
bound to find something they like; the more adventurous palate should go for the classic, which
includes anchovies, herbs and strong local cheese on a fresh tomato base. For dessert it’s cannoli
of course, deep-fried pastry tubes filled with sweet ricotta, that takes the centre stage. Arancini —
delicious fried rice balls — are another option for a cheap meal on the go. A local street-food tour is
a fun way to explore for those who love to try new dishes.
Modica
Fall under the magic spell of baroque Modica with its cobbled streets and laneways flanked by
imposing fairytale palaces and magnificent cathedrals. The town is renowned for its almond
pastries, custard sweets and chocolate delicacies — especially those made by local pastry chef
from Dolce Arte only 5 minutes from the Villa. Follow the sweet scent of powdered cinnamon down
winding lanes to find old-fashioned bakeries and encourage the kids to taste the local treats.
Cafes and restaurants with outdoor seating are everywhere; you can always find a place to rest and
eat a gelato, sip a glass of our local wine, or cool down with a refreshing lemon granita. For
chocolate lovers a special treat awaits, Modica is famous for a unique type of chocolate with a
recipe which dates back to the Spanish rulers that ruled Sicily. Today it’s a delicacy that’s a must try.
Fancy swimming in the Mediterranean sea? It could not be easier; just a 20 minutes drive and you
are on lovely gold sandy beaches where children will love to build sand castles. The seaside towns of
Marina di Modica, Pozzallo and Sampieri provide an array of shops, restaurants and beach clubs.
Exciting day trips from the Villa
The east side of the island is famed for its succession of exquisite baroque towns including
Catania, a splendid city lying between Etna and the Ionian Sea, Syracuse, with its temples, Greek
Theatre, Roman Amphitheatre and Ear of Dionysius and Ragusa, with its traces of human
settlements dating from as early as the 3rd millennium BC.
Towering 3,329 meters high, Mount Etna, Europe’s tallest volcano, is one of Sicily’s seven UNESCO
World Heritage Sites. It is a family favourite because of how close you can usually get to the fuming
calderas. The trip starts with a cable-car ride up to 2,500 metres, from where 4x4 jeep buses carry
travellers higher on guided tours of the lunar-like landscape and smoking volcano craters. Tours are
available from Rifugio Sapienza in Catania.
Sicily has more than its fair share of historic ruins and many of the best are not far from the Villa.
Some of Sicily’s finest ruins can be found at the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento on the
southwest coast — a UNESCO World Heritage site with one of the world’s best-preserved Greek
temples. The list of wonders that are waiting for you is too long to be written here.

Amazing Villa Outside Modica
We can’t imagine a more wonderful villa in Sicily for our visiting family of two grandparents, married son, his wife, and two children ages 5 and 8. The nearby owner and his family were terrific. It exceeded the description and our expectatiobs.

Perfect family villa
This villa is probably one of the best value properties you are likely to find anywhere in Italy! It has something for all ages from infants right up to grandparents. The outside space is amazing with a great size pool(the best we’ve ever had), wonderful hot tub and a terrace with fabulous views to Modica. We loved popping down to see the animals each day and the hearing the occasional bray of the donkey!
The rooms inside are spacious and cool and are kitted out with everything you could possibly need. We cooked on the terrace, where there is a choice of gas or charcoal BBQ, and in the kitchen where there is enough crockery, cutlery, cookware for everyone including some durable for infants and young children. They really have thought of everything!!!
And of course, as previous reviewers have said, there is Georgio!!! He really is a gem- the most helpful guy and also very informative, especially about all the requirements for Covid. It was very reassuring knowing he was on hand if we needed him.
We had a fantastic holiday and would thoroughly recommend this villa to anyone who wants a homely villa with amazing outside amenities. We would love to return!
Thanks for everything!

Just WOW
I am going to find it difficult to actually give George's house the justice it deserves - it is extremely special. My family and I have stayed in many houses in Portugal, Greece and Italy and this was the most impressive for sure. There are just so many great things about it.. Here are some highlights: The swimming pool - perfect size with lots of space for lounging, the gardens - beautiful plants and trees with wonderful fruits and vegetables to eat, the tennis court - very well kept and rackets and balls available, the farmyard - lots of cute animals for the kids and the beds - all very comfortable and rooms very nice. My personal favourite part of the house is the outdoor area for eating, equipped with a BBQ and a wonderful view of Modica - we had some great and late nights there! This house is fabulous for kids and adults alike.
Now a word on Modica itself, because it is a fantastic town. This was our second trip there and I was shocked when I opened the Sicily Lonely Planet and saw Modica wasn't one of their '14 highlights of Sicily'. Big mistake guys. But you know what maybe that's a good thing because Modica may stay off the tourist trail! Modica is a foodie's dream. I have had the best pasta, pizza, ice cream and chocolate of my life there. The chocolate is incomparable to anything you will taste in Europe. We went to some wonderful restaurants and bars. We did the train tour of the town which was a big hit with the kids. We wandered the incredibly narrow streets of Modica Allta which is like somewhere stuck in time - in a very charming way. I highly recommend checking out Goccia cocktail bar where we had an amazing night!
Finally a word for our hosts, George and Antonella. We have never felt so looked after. From the first moment to the last, they did everything they could to help us enjoy our stay. We arrived to a home cooked meal, they were always there for any questions we had and they gave us some great recommendations for things to do. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I feel like we were living a dream of some kind.

Absolutely amazing
The property was amazingly clean and actually much more than we expected. There was more than enough space for 3 families and the heated pool and tenniscourt was used everyday of our stay at the end of October. The farmyard blew the kids away and they loved collecting fresh eggs in the morning and helping feed Zeus (the donkey), Snuggles the miniature goat and all the rabbits and birds. George was the best host we have ever had and was always available to sort anything out, give us advice and even took the time to be our personal Tourguide. His English is perfect, communication instant and love of Modica and Sicily infectious.
Our stay was perfect. Whether the property itself, the amenities the closeness and access to all the beautiful towns around it or the seaside and best of all was our host, George. We cannot recommended Villa Modica enough and we will be back soon!

A truly memorable holiday
We booked a last minute trip to Sicily during the covid pandemic and the ever changing 'air bridge' quarantine advice from the UK government. I don't think anyone believed we would actually make it, but thankfully we did and it was exactly what we needed. Our entire experience was faultless, from George's very generous 100% refund policy if we has to cancel due to the pandemic, to the incredible welcome meal, drinks and grocery shop. The villa and grounds were stunning and the kids (aged 1-8) were all catered for superbly. From collecting eggs in the morning to an array of toddler friendly toys and cutlery - everything you could imagine needing has already been thought of and provided. I can't imagine we will ever have a holiday like this again, and it couldn't have come at a better time.

Fantastic family villa
Without doubt the villa is the most family-friendly villa we have ever rented. There's many things which impressed us about our holiday. The villa was spotlessly clean when we arrived. The owners had done a shop for groceries which were ready for our arrival. They prepared a lovely Sicilian meal for us as some of our party were arriving late and also left us plenty of wine from their vineyard for our meal. The villa has plenty of toys and games and is equipped with everything you need for your stay. Unusually in my experience there's a large fridge freezer in the kitchen which was more than capable of chilling all our food. The pool is fenced which makes for a more relaxing time when you have little children with you. The pool is kept lovely and warm even in September which meant we spent lots of time in it. Our hosts live next door and were always on hand to help if we needed pizzas ordered or we wanted advice of where to eat. George was also kind enough to come and find us when our sat navs failed to get us to the villa. All in all we had a wonderful time and this was in no small part down to the owners and their lovely villa. Thanks from all of us

A genuine pleasure
Villa Modica was an absolute treat from the moment we arrived. From all the goodies left for us by George and Nina to our last day when the children helped collect fresh eggs from the chickens. We had a wonderful week and thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Sicily. Our hosts couldn't have been more welcoming, while respecting our privacy at the same time. The space itself is a great size, especially with the pool, tennis courts and Zeus the donkey! I would highly recommend. Thanks George and Nina.

Fantastic villa with all the facilities you could want for a family break and a wonderful host.
We had a brilliant time at the villa which we stayed in with our two children, another family and their baby and our nanny and her boyfriend. The villa and its external facilities were more than big enough to absorb us all without ever feeling cramped. The pictures show the villa as it is; certainly not slick and modern but very comfortable and with everything you might expect and need to make your holiday run smoothly (plus extras) . Externally the grounds, landscaping and facilities are fabulous. The pool is delightful and the tennis court is fantastic. The situation is rural and requires a car but is the shortest of drives from Modica with all its charm and amenities. Perhaps the greatest asset of the property is the owner George who could not possibly have been more helpful and welcoming, from the moment of booking. He always managed to achieve this without being intrusive or overbearing. He helped us in arranging outings, taxis and take aways and a chef to come and cook several delicious evening meals for us. His assistance really was invaluable. We would highly recommend this villa.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here in September 2018. Lovely property in a good location.
Great property, well maintained and all facilities you could possibly need. It was lovely to arrive to a welcoming and delicious home cooked lasagne - how nice not to have to cook on our first night. Some basic provisions were provided which also meant there was no need to shop on the way.
George was always on hand to help if needed, but without being intrusive, introducing us to the family at the local supermarket, showing us the best place for breakfast and even ordering pizzas!
The villa is well placed to explore the many towns in the south east of the island, but also not too far away to explore Mount Etna and the also the larger towns in the north east such as Taormina (well worth the drive).
The fresh pomegranates, picked directly from the tree by the pool were delicious!
We would highly recommend this villa.

Beautiful setting, comfy, gracious host
We had a wonderful time at Giorgio's villa and would stay there again in a heartbeat. The town of Modica is a lovely town worthy of many hours of ambling, ogling and general chilling. From here, we were able to take day trips to Siracusa, Mt. Etna, Ragusa, Noto and a number of other gorgeous locales. As for the villa itself, the grounds were gorgeous, set on a hillside overlooking a valley and the hills beyond. Giorgio has a real eye for beauty and the property is landscaped with flowers galore, as well as a lovely pool, a petting zoo (Giorgio has a soft spot for homeless donkeys, goats, peacocks and other fowl, dogs and perhaps even a stray giraffe or two -- great for kids!). The accommodations were spacious and well-equipped. We were a group of 12 and everyone seemed to have comfortable beds, air conditioning when we needed it, private or semi-private bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and a couple of patios for eating out and generally lounging. But the biggest attraction was Giorgio, our host, who lives inconspicuously on the property with his family. Giorgio made himself available to drive us places; he made suggestions about where to go and when best to go there; he introduced us to friends who ran local restaurants and stores; he gave us tours of farms and wineries he either owned or did business with (it wasn't always clear, as everybody seemed to be family with Giorgio); two of his friends gave us a cooking class which resulted in a spectacular dinner; and he and friends even serenaded us all with a poolside concert one evening. While he was an incredibly gracious and helpful host, always available whenever we needed his assistance, Giorgio was very respectful of our privacy and his presence was never intrusive. I would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it to anyone interested in a stay in southern Sicily.

We enjoyed every minute of our three week stay.
The villa is very comfortable, with spacious bedrooms, and a very well-equipped kitchen. There is excellent wifi. A folder in the lounge has detailed information on the area and activities that can be arranged. The villa has outside terraces on which you can always choose whether to sit in sun or shade, with lovely views and an excellent pool set in a delightful garden. The villa and its garden are large enough for people to socialise if they wish or to find a quiet place to read undisturbed. It is a very peaceful and relaxing place to stay.
It is a short drive to Modica, with easy parking. We spent several days exploring its picturesque streets, fine churches and welcoming cafés and restaurants. Modica is a great base for visiting the UNESCO World Heritage (and Montalbano) towns of Ragusa, Scicli and Noto. All of these are in very easy reach, while a longer day out would take you to the stunning sites of Villa Romana del Casale at Piazza Armerina, Siracusa, Ortigia and the ceramics at Caltagirone. There are also many wonderful beaches within easy reach.
We thoroughly enjoyed the activities which Giorgio arranged for us. The visit to a ricotta farm was delightful, seeing the process, eating a hearty lunch with wine, followed by a short walk to see the local crops and animals.
At the Fair Trade chocolate laboratory, we not only enjoyed tasting the product but also found the explanation of the Foundation’s aims and methods very inspiring.
The visit to the local winery was very well presented, offering us tastings of each of their wines, accompanied by delicious snacks. We were also given fascinating information about the production of both still wines and spumante.
Giorgio was also very helpful in recommending excellent local restaurants.
On each of our three weeks, a highlight was the evening when Maria and Anna cooked a delicious three course dinner for us. We enjoyed watching the preparation almost as much as eating the results.
Giorgio is a very knowledgeable and helpful host. We thoroughly recommend Villa Modica.

Villa modica is a great place in an amazing location with great facilities.George was really welcoming and made us feel totally at home.He was wonderful with the kids and very helpful in every way. Nothing was too much trouble for him. We loved being able to pick fresh mulberries, medlers and herbs for our use and ejoyed the fresh eggs, broad beans and artichokes.
The kids loved being able to feed the chickens and goats, hold the baby chicks and tortoises and brush Zeus the donkey. The young adults loved their meal out at the fish restaurant recommended by George. As all the family said" it was SO good." We would highly recommend a stay at Villa Modica.

Stellar retreat
We arrived at th beginning of the second week in March to be greeted by plenty of blue skies and sunshine. Villa Modica was thoroughly enchanting with its gorgeous swimming pool, large rooms and even larger kitchen and stunning views from the expansive terrace over The Valley and Modica Alta or Upper Modica straddling the hills across. Dawn and dusk, the views were especially memorable. Modica itself is only a 10 minute drive form the villa where we were delighted to find buildings with baroque facades, sidewalk cafes, a wonderful archeological museum and very grand and ornate churches such as St. John the Baptist in Upper Modica and San Giorgio and San Pietro located along the Corso Umberto. Our villa was cleaned every week, we could pick oranges and lemons right off the trees outside, and our host Giorgio and his gracious wife Antonella couldn’t do enough. We loved them. There is a one star Michelin restaurant called Accursio on Via Grimaldi, and many other choices of the less exalted variety that are reasonably priced and feature Italian and Sicilian dishes. Most of the produce is grown in this area, the tomatoes especially delicious. We would have no difficulty recommending Villa Modica for a week or two or three. And. We have memories forever.

Fantastic! Stunning views, facilities and owner
It was our first time to Sicily. Travelling with 3 young children and the Grand parents. Found the villa on the internet so always a concern but the villa and owner exceeded all of our expectations. George and his wife were amazing hosts. He was there to greet us and guide us in on the phone (even though it was late at night) and we had a fantastic, Sicilian lasagne prepared in the oven for us and some essentials, including a bottle of wine. He left us to it, but was always at the end of the phone for restaurant recommendations or bookings and the children loved him due to his 3 rules for children whilst they are there: "Fun, fun, fun!". And fun they had. Heated pool, full size tennis court, table football, table tennis, rope swings, zip wire, their own playground with ride on toys and a mini farm/zoo with goats and chickens and a donkey. The highlight was going to collect eggs with George.
The villa had everything you needed. So spacious and added bonuses of great wifi, lots of english films, netflix and even toys for the baby.
The pool was absolutely stunning. Spotlessly clean. A bit cool for me in October as you'd expect but the kids didn't seem to mind at all. Plenty of comfy, modern loungers around it to relax on and admire the views. Heaven!
Peace and quiet, secluded with vast views yet so close to the gorgeous, historical centre of Modica, where George can tell you all the best places to go. Plenty of places to visit nearby too.
A truly amazing, huge, family holiday villa for young and old. Will definitely return!

Super villa large enough to accommodate a family party whilst also giving everyone "their own space"
The whole family absolutely loved our one week stay in October at villa modica.
Using the co-ordinates we drove from Catania airport direct to villa modica avoiding modica centre - an easy drive - making a mandatory stop at lidl on the way (at Rossini)- for the all important wine etc.
On arrival we were met by Georgiou who gave us a tour of the property and grounds. We were so surprised to note that there was an extremely generous grocery pack including wine - and that Nina had cooked a fabulous lasagne (who could ask for more! - we have never experienced such generosity in any villa stay before- and we have sampled many over the years).
The weather was excellent and although the pool was a little chilly the children (and not forgetting mother!) enjoyed the pool every day.
Georgiou was so helpful and assisted us with a wine tour/tasting and also olive pressing - both a great experience.
There was also a restaurant recommendation for "maria fidoni" at frigintini so we gave it a try and were so pleased we did. Although there was no English spoken (who needs! its more fun!). The evening meal took the form of a fixed time/fixed price menu - several courses- with carafe of red wine (20 euro each). The food was all home made and was wonderful. Whilst there are many places to eat in modica, do give this a try - you wont' be disappointed.
Villa modica is a lovely family villa - very well equipped - so if you have forgotten anything you will be sure to find it here). There are lots of animals for the children to see - donkey - goats - chickens, ducks, peafowl etc and with the super zip wire/children's playground - plenty to keep children occupied.

An elegant, beautiful property, magnificent views
We had two wonderful weeks at Villa Modica this summer. We loved having breakfast in the glassed veranda with beautiful vistas on all sides. What a wonderful way to start each day. Giorgio, the owner, is the kindest and most helpful host anyone could dream of. He made us feel so welcome and at home. The location of the villa is excellent with spectacular views , tranquility, and yet is only ten minutes from the lively historic center of Modica. The swimming pool is surrounded by fruit trees and a lovely garden. The villa is very well equipped with everything you might need and, in addition, hundreds of films available for viewing on a large HD TV. Giorgio is a fantastic resource. He can arrange for you to participate in making ricotta at a local farm will you will be served a fabulous meal and can recommend every level of restaurant, and winery tours. Although, we did not bring our grandchildren on this trip, we were delighted to see a playground, tree house, and petting farm. As a wonderful father, Giorgion knows what makes children happy. We recommend the Villa Modica as a great place to relax and be taken care of by a remarkable host. Thank you, Giorgio!

Amazing Villa - perfect for families
We absolutely loved this villa. It has everything you could wish for. We loved the swimming pool and tennis court. My 3 year old was delighted with the sand pit, tree house, animals and play area. George is a fantastic host, so friendly and helpful. We arrived late and they had a delicious dinner ready for us. The house also has toys and all the essentials for young kids such as a cot, high chair, baby bath and bed rail. There is lovely outdoor areas and a BBQ. Really they have thought of everything. We can't wait to go back!

Fantastic villa with pool and tennis court. 5 star
What a fantastic villa this is, perched on the hill, overlooking the town of Modica. We are just back from another perfect at villamodica and I'm pleased to say it just keeps getting better. This year there is a new tennis court, probably the best hard court surface I've played on. The floodlights are a nice touch as a match with the kids in the evening is perfect. There is also a new shaded BBQ area beside the court.
The pool is still fabulous but has also been improved. Its now using salt water which is far better to swim in than chlorine in my opinion and the solar panels warm the water, which means the kids are happy to play there for hours.
The real star of Villa Modica though is Giorgio. Nothing is too much trouble for this kind Sicilian who speaks perfect English (apart from his Canadian accent!) Whether it's a restaurant recommendation, a basket of fresh fruit and vegetables from his garden or even replacing a tyre on my hire car, Giorgio isn't far away to help out if required.

Best Vacation Ever
We stayed with my family in July at Villa Modica, it was a memorable vacation, one of the best villas we have ever rented with our family. The villa was marvelously equiped, we had absolutely everything one could desire and even more to make our stay absolutely pleasant and comfortable. In our country the summers arent that hot, so we usually have a hard time acommodating and sleeping in a hot weather but the a/c in the house was wonderful so we had no such problem here. We had a great time in Sicily and the city of Modica was very special with lovely restaurants, caffe shops, and pizzerias, we especially enjoyed home-cooked meals and BBQ's on the back patio with the magnificent views of the city that the villa offers, the salt water pool was a magnificent , we also enjoyed the fantastic tennis court , in our opinion its one of the best court that we have played on, we highly recommend Villa Modica to anyone that wants all the comforts of home and more, especially if you have children, there is so much to do for them that when its time to go home they don't want to leave.

Beautful villa, excellent amenities
I visited Villa Modica late May with my husband, daughter, her boyfriend and 3 family friends for my husband's birthday 50th birthday.
The villa is in a beautiful spot about 10 minutes drive outside of Modica. It is a large property that is very well maintained and some rally nice touches, e.g. A UK multi-point adapter, hairdressers in all the bathrooms.
We did have a little difficulty finding the property initially but once we found it George let us in thought the electric gate our lovely week began.
There are four good sized bedrooms in the main villa and 3 bathrooms, none are en-suite but are quite convenient to the bedrooms. 2 bedrooms are king size beds and the other 2 are singles but can be made up to doubles. Two bedrooms lead onto a lovely conservatory.
The separate bedroom is on the lower floor and accessed through the gym. This area has an en-suite bathroom, a fridge and a washing machine, so really a separate annex.
The living room is comfortable with 3 large settees and a TV. There are lots of books available to borrow and a few games.
The kitchen is very well stocked with crockery, cutlery, glasses, land and cooking utensils. There is a utility room with a washing machine and also an additional toilet off the kitchen.
George arrange for Maria to come in and cook for us on my husband's birthday. The meal was excellent and Maria lovely.
The pool area is fantastic with plenty of sunloungers and parasols plus a ping pong table. The views are amazing.
There are 2 outside eating areas which benefit from the sun at different times of the day. The evening area has 2 BBQs and a very large table.
There are lots of towels, including beach towels, and plenty extra bedding if required.
The petting zoo is lovely with a tree house and zip wire and the tennis courts will be ready shortly.
George was extremely helpful. On our first day he took us to the local supermarket and pointed out an amazing patisserie for the birthday cake.
The only downside we found to this villa was the driving around Modica and the parking in Modica was very difficult but we found a useful car park on Corsa Umberto and there is a great bar / pizza place directly opposite, Baricentro. If you are a nervous driver this villa isn't for you. You could walk into Modica but it is all up hill on the way back and not really safe to walk up the road in the dark.
That said, we had a fabulous week and would all absolutely recommend this villa!

A superb Villa.
Villa Modica was a superb base for enjoying all the Sicily has to offer. Georgio, Antonella and their son Gabe were superb hosts who went far above expectations to make sure that we enjoyed our stay. The Villa was spacious, well-maintained, and extremely well-supplied with all of the necessities. The kitchen provided everything needed for a quick meal or a banquet. Our children especially enjoyed the playground, pool, zip-line, playhouse, and farm. They witnessed the births of two baby goats as well as the hatching of chickens and geese. What could be better! Tennis courts are nearly ready for use.
There is no doubt that we would recommend Villa Modica with confidence and enthusiasm.

For our second time we have stayed at Villa Modica, but we now call it our home away from home. From the moment we arrived it was fantastic!!! To seeing Giorgio (owner) & his lovely family, to the comfort and beauty of his villa.
Whatever we needed, it was there! From, appliances, to linens, to food, to herbs etc... it was all there at the villa!
Thank you to Antonella, Giorgio's wonderful wife, who had welcomed us with a home cooked meal. Let's not forget the abundance of wine that dear Giorgio made available to us.
Giorgio, a friend that we have made for life! A man who devotes himself to his family, friends and guests at his villa. Always available 24/7!!!
Thank you Giorgio for introducing us to our dear friends Ken & Alena from Scotland. Spending those days with all of you was memorable!
The villa was immaculate! The grounds were spectacular! Surrounded by different types of fruit trees, wonderful herbs, inviting pool, and Luna the cat! How we looked forward to breakfast in the veranda, with gorgeous view of Modica. Whether we wanted to laze around the pool or stay in the bar-b-que section of the villa where it was well shaded, we had a fantastic time!! We absolutely adore your villa and how we are welcomed. Of course we will be back only next time our stay there will be extended to 3 weeks!!!! We can not get enough of Villa Modica and Giorgio!!! Until the next time our dear friend!! There is no one like you Giorgio!!
friends for life,
Gisella & Gaspare

Located in Modica – the chocolate capital of Sicily - with 4 bedrooms. 3 1/2 bathrooms, swimming pool, kitchen, gardens… Indoor dining, outdoor dining… It almost looked too good to be true.
I sent off an email inquiry and received a reply back immediately from the owner, George.
How little did I know that that simple email was going to set off a chain of events that culminated in possibly the best and most relaxing vacation we have ever had.
The villa is stunning. The grounds are beautiful. Everything is a mixture of new and old – with all of the modern conveniences.
But the real gem of Villa Modica is the owner, George – and his attention to detail and ability to read his guests and fulfill their every wish. From ricotta-making and wine tasting to some of the best seafood I have ever eaten, or directions to anywhere, George was there.
He was available and completely unobtrusive. But more than anything else, he was real and genuine and exuded warmth and friendliness. There is nothing phony or contrived about him. He is more than willing to go out of his way to make your visit unforgettable. Actually, I should rephrase that – nothing is out of his way. I’d love to have him as my neighbor.
The villa is situated a couple of kilometers from the center of town – rural without being isolated – and in a valley that shimmers with the lights above.
Everything you need is within reach – with the ultimate in privacy.
The rooms are all good sized and six of us were never im each others way. One could move off to a different section of the villa or out to the extensive grounds and enjoy the quiet and solitude – or join in a raucous game of cards in the over-sized kitchen, outdoor eating area, or in the gazebo by the pool.
The grounds are full of organic produce for the eating, from artichokes to lemons, numerous herbs, grapes, wild fennel… we had stuffed artichokes one night. Best I’ve ever had.
And best I’ve ever had can be said of so much of our stay. From the dinner that was awaiting us when we arrived – homemade lasagne, sausages, potatoes, and peppers, and more wine than we could consume – to the relaxation by the pool and listening to the quiet.
No hidden costs, no surprises. I can’t wait to go back.

My family and I will be visiting Villa Modica for the third time this year and we cannot wait to return. This is truly paradise- from the aroma of jasmine that greets you, to the breathtaking Sicilian hillside views, to the enormous and glamorous pool, to the beautiful spacious house with a layout where you will never feel cramped- words truly cannot describe how much we love visiting Villa Modica. We look forward to seeing Giorgio, Antonella and family even more than the house as they are the most wonderful and gracious hosts you can imagine. They have become family to us and have shown us a side of Sicily we would have never seen without them. They will make your trip one you will never forget.
I highly recommend the chef Maria, all of her meals are out of this world and prepared from scratch, including homemade pastas and breads. She is fantastic.
Whether you are looking to relax or to sightsee this is the place for you, lazy days by the natural saltwater pool or the beautiful local beach, or visiting the town for some delicious arancini and the spectacular sites, you will not regret staying here. Friends always ask why we don't try a new place to visit and its very simple, go and you will know why!

Villa Modica is located in the beautiful city of Modica. It is a meticulously maintained 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom villa that offers all the amenities of home without sacraficing the Sicilian culture. For a small charge housekeeping and a cook are available. Or you can choose to prepare your own food using the organic gardens and fruit trees the owner has creatively surrounded the villa with.
Giorgio, the owner or the villa, is available 24/7 and is just minutes away if a problem or question arises. He is fluent in many languages and will happily act as your translator if needed. A driver can also be scheduled if you are uncomfortable driving. A GPS is available if you would like to venture out on your own, always our preference!
The villa is equipped with all the convienences of home. Comfortable beds, full size kitchen appliances, washing machine, wi-fi, computer, satellite tv, and airconditioning. A library of books (English) is available. If you don't have an international phone, no worries, a tract phone is available, just buy minutes! It is child friendly with a crib and beautiful fenced in playground. Teens will not be bored! The built in pool is large and always clean. The City of Modica is safe and comes to life in the evening. Enjoy a late dinner and gelato or just 'people watch'. You will find the shop and restaurant owners happy to please and very patient if you don't speak the language.
The villa is located in a perfect spot. Close to the Sea. Day trips to the many surrounding cities is an easy adventure and never a dissapointment. A trip to a winery, cheese farm, or chocolate factory can be easily scheduled through Giorgio. Restaurants are easy to find on your own or ask for recommendations from Giorgio.
My family and I have returned to Villa Modica countless times over the last 15 years. We consider this a must do vacation!!!

This was our 3rd visit to Villa Modica, there is nothing I would change about this wonderful villa, setting or the most gracious hosts Georgio & Antonella that make this place so perfect. Imagine driving througyh a gorgeous baroque city then winding up a short distance into the hills (just 5 minutes from town) you then drive through impressive gates where you can leave the real world behind. Antonella always has a hot lasange or local sausage & potatoes in the oven ready for you, there is plenty of olive oil , pasta, fresh salad fruit cereal all in the fridge , not to mention the vino on tap from the cousins award winning winery! We have never been so spoilt. The villa is amazingly clean & cool with beautiful views over the city fro the from terrace and equally as beautiful from the back over the country for star gazers with a lovely barbeque area and an outdoor table for at least 20. The swimming pool is not just a pool , it is nearly or perhaps is , Olympic size with about 15 lounge chairs and lovely fruit trees on the lawns around you. Every morning whe you open the front door the first of the most memorable smells is the jasmine whafting up in the hot morning sun. Have breakfast fromj the figs fresh from the tree and lay by the pool for a few hours. In the evenings we always went to the town, rent a small car so you can explore the tiny alley ways with a treasure trove of little restaurants. You will find the people of Modica out every night enjoying there own food & company and it is very safe , the teenagers still have dinner with the parents and actually look like they enjoy it. We have never seen any crime at all and policeman are mostly for traffic matters. We decided to share the villa with our family this year for the first time, my parners parents , my dad (he's 84) and Italian/American), my son & his girlfriend, we had all never been away together and I have to say it was one of the most memorable and beautiful holidays of our lives, so much room for us all to have personal space when we needed it. If you are thinking of Sicily you must try Villa Modica, it truly is "Heaven on Earth". Thank you Georgio for creating such a wonderful space! Kind Regards, Teresa & Matt xx from the Weir Hotel, Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, UK
