The layout, and the glorious views
The mattress in the double room really needed to be renewed it was pitted from numerous occupants.

Location and fabulous view over the estuary. Washing machine was a plus.
Kitchen too hot. No airflow. All outdated and items were sticky (needed washing before use). Very steep stairs. Not a problem for us, but could be for some.

This cottage is in a great location. It is just a short walk into Salcombe town. It has a great view of the estuary and surrounding hills.
The prices in Salcombe are above average in my opinion. Cod and chips in a take-away was an eye watering£16.00. Three beers cost between £16 and £18 .

The location is amazing - close to the end of the high street, next door to the yacht club, fabulous views across the estuary (NB: the location in the Booking.com app is wrong).
Quirky cottage with comfortable double bedroom and lounge. New carpets and reupholstered armchair and sofa so was better than it looks in the photos.
Central heating, hot water, well equipped kitchen despite the very compact size, two bathrooms, washing machine, good WiFi, TV etc.
We really enjoyed our stay.
It could definitely have been cleaner - leaves and dirt sticking out over kitchen cabinets, lost stuff and heavy dust under the furniture, kitchen cupboards untidy and not recently cleaned, random things left in bedroom cupboards and drawers, place mats in the living room needed a good scrub - overall it felt like there was a lack of attention to detail despite all the plus points..
The kitchen cupboard doors are falling off their hinges and it would have been nice to have been given a new dishcloth.
We didn't need to use it but the twin bedroom right off the street may not suit some people.
Parking is awkward - you just need to be prepared for it and read the signs carefully!

Beautiful little cottage overlooking estuary.
The description of the facilities was misleading - there is no communal inside pool. This is in fact at the hotel spa opposite at an extra charge

Location was fantastic and views from the cottage absolutely stunning. Beds seemed clean and were comfortable. Owner responded to all our questions very quickly.
When walking into the front door, you walk directly into a bedroom, which gives very little privacy to people staying in that room. Also had to keep the blinds down at all times as windows weren't frosted so anybody walking past was looking straight in. The room smelled musty. Both bathrooms and kitchen were not very clean. In the living room we were ambushed by a swarm of creatures (little moths according to the owner) that were jumping all over us while we sat on the furniture. Didn't feel comfortable using that room and left 1 day earlier than planned as the problem seemed to get progressively worse. Real shame as that was the day of our wedding anniversary....

this cottage is in the most amazing location and the view is beautiful. it was absolutely spotless when we arrived and had all of the facilities we could have needed. there was an issue with the front door handle coming loose and the owner was so helpful with this, with the caretaker out out to fix it in less than an hour. Such an amazing stay!

Location ideal, comfy and cosy , view amazing . Good base to travel from.
Parking , but we new salcombe was going to be like that, so was prepared. If we were with younger family or it was just us ,we would have used the park and ride car park at the top of town and walked

The location
Clear instructions on how to get there.
The crockery was not clean, lipstick on glasses and mugs dirty needed to wash all before use.
The whole place could have been cleaner especially during this pandemic.

We loved our stay at Shipwrights. The cottage is gorgeous and charming, with a fantastic location overlooking the harbour and the beautiful beaches on the other side of the water. You could even hear the waves lapping below the window! We used the bedroom on the top floor, which was really spacious and comfortable and with a very big bath in the en suite. The living room is on the middle floor, and is a really relaxing room to come back to in the evenings (again, with that unrivalled view!) The owners were really responsive and helpful when there was an initial issue with the heating, and this was very quickly resolved. Very close to all the amenities of the town centre, including some lovely pubs!
We felt the property could have been a little cleaner, particularly the kitchen equipment and in the bathroom, but this didn't negatively impact our stay at all.
