located in quite area surrounded by jungles full of monkeys. Staff is very friendly and was ready to help with any question.
it was difficult to reach the property as the road was very bad. Yoga classes were very good but pls note it’s not included and you would be charged extra 15 usd per class (I was not told in advance). Every day they were running out of food (fresh fruits, granola, meat, coconuts even…) Staff did their best to replace with another options however considering remote location you don’t actually have any choice.

Yoga retreat but non pretentious- you could join sessions as you pleased and it didn’t matter your level. Really beautifully furnished and great sized rooms. Welcoming to solo travellers. Good food too. A short trip out from Kandy so would recommend if you find yourself an bit bored of the town and looking for some downtime in nature.
If you don’t pay for board, the food is a little expensive and no info about prices until you settle up your whole bill.

Best place we stayed in Sri Lanka. such a peaceful place surrounded by nature. we enjoyed the colorful birds, the beautiful lake, the kind staff, the AMAZING food, and monkeys playing in the trees. The hotel is beautifully decorated and has great view. we did yoga twice with the sweetest teacher Christina, and she was fantastic - even though we were beginners she managed to make us proud of every little improvement and to make us thankful for our bodies every step of the way.
Nothing. like everywhere else in Sri Lanka we had daily powercuts, but the hotel has a generator - and otherwise we enjoyed a candlelight dinner or a short digital detox.

This place is extremely relaxing and comfortable. The food is very good , fresh and varied . The staff are exceptional also and go out of their way to help you
The accomodation was slightly over priced for what you got compared to other places I have stayed in Sri Lanka. The owner did give a discount though as swimming pool needed some repair work

Beautiful location and scenery, extremely calm and relaxed environment, great rooms and possible activities (yoga, paddle boarding, kayak, hiking) very-very close by, the food is simply amazing!

I loved the bird songs in the morning, the luxurious vegetation, the paddle boarding on the lake, the early morning yoga sessions and the delicious food. But most of all, I liked how the lovely stuff makes you feel at home.
They are genuinely doing their best to make you feel easy and relaxed. The breakfast is also divine! Should I mention about the coconut tree forest close by, where you can watch one of the best sunsets ever? Honestly I haven't stayed in a place that ticks so many boxes. I am so grateful for all the memories I have in this place. I managed to switch off completely for 4 days and met some amazingly kind people! Couldn't recommend this place enough!
Nothing comes to mind

Rukgala was the first place we stayed in Sri Lanka and what a wonderful start it was. We arrived late in the evening from Colombo after a long flight and were greeted by Aravinda, our lovely host. We enjoyed a delicious laksa curry on a beautiful veranda looking out over the hills. Everything about this place is special, from the friendly staff, the incredible food and great yoga (good for beginners! - thanks Jasmine and Emma). Aravinda took us on a 5 hour hike at the Ashburnam Estate and around the tea fields and cloud forest, explaining the wildlife and the history of tea in Sri Lanka. This was certainly the highlight of our trip, the views from the property are magnificent and Aravinda so friendly (as were every one of the staff!) and knowledgable about the area. We couldn’t recommend this place more!
