About this apartment rental
Top unit of a three-family house, this 1000sq ft two bedroom, one bath apartment is in the heart of downtown Winston-Salem. It is an ideal location two blocks away from all of the action of Fourth and Trade Streets, tucked into a funky, tree-lined neighborhood that is pleasantly quiet and private.
Walkable to all the downtown hotspots, including the BB&T Ball Park, the Hanes Theater, Hanes Park, millennium Center, Benton Convention Center, Washington Park, the Stevens Center, the Children's Museum, Bailey Park, the Innovation Quarter, Old Salem, Aperture Theater, Sawtooth, YMCA, Washington Perk Market and all of the restaurants, cafes, bars, breweries, coffee shops and art studios that downtown has to offer.
Bike trails, walking trails, the Strollway and dog parks surround the apartment.
The apartment is centrally located, immediately on a bus stop and close to Business I-40 and Rt. 421. Wake Forest University and Hospital, Forsyth Hospital, Winston Salem State University, Southeastern Center for Contemporary Arts, NC School of the Arts, Whole Foods, Publix, Harris Teeter, Food Lion, Hanes Mall, Old Salem Lake, Rock Quarry Park, are within a ten minute drive or less.
Pilot Mountain and Hanging Rock are excellent for hiking and within a thirty minute drive. Fifteen minutes from here is the oldest medicinal herbal garden in the United States. It's located in Bethabara, which, along with Old Bethania are great spots of history.
Greensboro, NC is about 30 minutes away and High Point, NC is 20 minutes away (that's where the Furniture Market is). Piedmont Triad International Airport (PTI/GSO) is 17-20 minutes away.
The space itself is clean, bright and airy. The kitchen may be the crown jewel of the apartment, with half of it encased in glass, allowing for lots of light and pretty views as you enjoy your morning coffee or evening wine. It has white quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances (including a dishwasher and garbage disposal) and a reclaimed granite backsplash. We've got it stocked with coffee, tea, a bit of breakfast and your kitchen essentials. Hardwood floors are throughout the apartment, minus the bathroom, which is tiled.
The bathroom is remodeled and squeaky clean. There are bathroom basics stocked: hair dryer, soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, disposable razors, toothpaste etc. All of the toiletries are natural & organic.
There are two bedrooms, each with a king sized bed, small drawers, a desk and a place to sit. Both bedrooms have closets with luggage racks and hangers. One of the bedrooms has a small laundry closet with a stackable washer/dryer unit. We provide all natural laundry detergent.
The living room has a comfy couch that could sleep one. There is a TV & Amazon fire stick & very fast wireless internet. There is *not* cable.
The apartment has two decks - a spacious one great for lounging and eating outside when the weather is nice, and another one out back being remodeled & extended mid-June 2019 for gazing at the pines or watching the fireflies.
The apartment features filtered water throughout - we have a whole house water filtration system. As mentioned above, there is free, fast Internet.
There is no smoking in the apartment.
We have a compost bin and recycle if you like those things.
The property is surrounded by plants and trees - and depending on time of year, vegetables, figs, blueberries, passion vines and kiwis - lending a feel of privacy or that you are living in a tree house, despite having downtown W-S in the view from your window, a minute or two walk away.
Winston-Salem is enjoying the surge of the local food movement, with many independent restaurants supporting local farmers and the farmer's market. Krankie's Wherehouse, Muddy Creek, Mary's Gourmet Diner, Black Mountain Chocolate and Twin City Hive are some locavore gems to explore.
We invite all travelers, explorers, students, teachers, wanderers, artists, folks going to conferences or interviews and everyone else to stay with us.

This was a great stay. Truly a hidden gem

The place was nice enough. The owners live on site and seem to be watching all the time. Every time we went out it seemed like they were "washing the car" or "doing yard work", and eyeballing us the whole time. It felt weird. Didn't realize it was them at first until I looked at their photo on the listing. There was also a slight misunderstanding on the check-in and Jillian was very condescending in her response. We just kind of shrugged that off too. We only stayed a couple nights so it is what it is.

One of the nicest rentals I have ever stayed in! The house was super clean, quiet, and comfortable. The hosts were so helpful and communicative. The breakfast nook with tree views was beautiful and peaceful. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

We wanted to be close to 4th Street and this property was a few blocks away. Exactly what we needed. Would definitely stay here again!

Nice and friendly staff. Was unable to get the television to work the first night. Contacted staff the next day and it was fixed. The only problem was some windows did not have covering. The outside appearance could have been more cleaned. Bushes over grown to the sidewalk. The inside was very clean. Cat sitting at the bottom of the stairs. All and all, it was quiet and we didn’t have any issues. Was there attending a conference at the convention center.

Love the apartment, just note that it’s above a house not in a complex. No TV in bedroom :) and no Keurig :). Nice neighborhood, close to downtown within walking distance. Very spacious and clean.

We were in town for a wedding and very busy so we did not get to enjoy the space as much as I would like. However, it was warm and welcoming whenever we returned. Exactly as described and loved the neighborhood. Would love to have the chance to stay again when I could just relax! Thank you for the perfect accommodations!

This is a nice older place, the rooms are all really spacious (bathroom was small but fine for one person). Everything was very clean. I especially liked the eat in kitchen. It looks like it was once an open porch and two sides are all windows. It looks out over the back yard and lots of birdies hanging out. Was very close to the Sawtooth Arts Center where we were at a symposium, and plenty of close places to eat. Only ding is there was only one extra roll of TP and we had to go buy one the last evening.

Downtown Winston Salem only a block from stadium and 2.4 miles from the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Really quiet and peaceful with figs growing right outside your window! Parking is street but I stayed for 4 days and always parked in front of house!

We had a two night stay in Winston for a college tour. The apartment space was ample and perfectly appointed. There were real plants, neutral decor, and a stocked kitchen. We especially appreciated the coffee and French press. Our favorite space was the kitchen with the natural light wall to wall windows and birds. The provided shampoos and bath towels in the remodeled bath smelled amazing. We also liked the private entrance and decks. Everything we needed was provided. My only suggestions are to add a soft neutral throw blanket on the couch and seat cushions for the kitchen chairs.

It was the top floor of an house built in early 1900’s. Very clean and original hardwood floors. It is in a nice area of downtown Winston-Salem and you can see the fireworks from the Dash baseball games on the weekends. Walking distance to many restaurants.

Loved how close it was to downtown but so quiet. Easy parking and cute area. We loved walking to the restaurants. Would definitely stay again.

The apartment was immaculate. The view from the kitchen/breakfast area was beautiful. We had a great stay.

Love the location of this apartment. Walkable to downtown. Pretty view from the kitchen area. Communication was great with Jillian minus a little snafu of her not sending me the check-in information so I had to track her down. She was in the mountains, so took a bit longer than expected. If you are a noise, sensitive, you may want to know that you can hear people below you providing they are around. It didn’t affect our stay personally.

Reasonable property. Would benefit from having detailed written instructions on how to use TV and cable /satellite remote. Difficult to open lock box. Recommend a Keurig. Only option was a French Press.

We were visiting family over Thanksgiving and stayed at this property. The time with family was crazy and this was a comfortable and quiet place for us to retreat to in the evenings. We have stayed at hotels in the area and have been frustrated by either the cost or lack of cleanliness and this was a great alternative. Jillian was easy to communicate with, no extra cost for parking and the apartment was cozy, clean and quiet. We loved the bright kitchen and in the morning it was nice to start the day watching the birds at the feeders. We would definitely stay again.

Perfect location, wonderful hosts, spacious and clean. We were in town for a wedding on 4th St. We were so lucky that this apartment was a block and half away from the venue, close to downtown for shopping. Great for bird and squirrel watchers, as they were well fed by the hosts.

Such a lovely quiet clean place. Fabulous kitchen with huge windows overlooking a peaceful yard. A box of Kleenex would have been helpful

This was one of my favorite VRBOs I’ve ever stayed in! The place is perfectly located- you can get anywhere downtown by walking. It’s in a quiet neighborhood with plenty of street parking. The apartment is very spacious and there’s some outdoor areas too if you want to sit outside with a cup of coffee in the morning. The hosts answered all of our questions within minutes and were very helpful. Would absolutely recommend booking!
