My family and I were just looking for a vrbo close to Lake Michigan to enjoy the memorial holiday. The property group was so responsive with my requests for a highchair and pack and play for my baby. The house was clean. Right by the beach with a playground, grill access too, I loved it. And for the price we couldn’t beat it. I think the only thing I’d mention that others have mentioned too is the family room area could be a little more cozy. The couch to relax on is not comfy and there is a huge coffee table that honestly was super unsafe for my babies with sharp edges (that I hurt my knee on twice). Outside of those two minor things, being steps away from the beach was all I wanted and I really really enjoyed it!

We had a great time. The property was exactly as described and the walk to the beach was amazing. Would definitely stay again!

Cute , clean place right by the beach entrance - perfect for a small family

Alex cottage is very cozy. Living room has 1 chair and a futon. Not comfortable and not really set up for 4 people. More steps to the beach than expected. Beach is nice, and quiet. The only other issue was the coffee table. It is metal and very heavy, does not move at all if you bump it . The corners are very sharp, and will injure you if you hit you leg. Overall, a nice, relaxing visit. The kitchen is fine, updated.

So clean and so pretty inside. Right by the path to the beach.
The outside of the cottage and back patio could use a little sprucing up. But all in all very comfortable there and we will be back.

Nice, clean house very close to the beach. Was also walking distance to restaurants and a brewery a little farther away. Great stay.

We loved visiting this area and the cottage was perfect for our family of three and a labrador retriever. The property management company communication was second to none and the beach is just steps away. We hope to visit again when the weather is a little warmer! Some people may find the mattresses in the bedrooms to be a little firm, but we didn't mind them at all.

The cottage is nice and clean and we had a lovely time. Location is great, very close to the beach. There was initially no hairdryer but the cleaner gave me one when I asked her for one.

The cottage has a comfortable and cheery atmosphere. It was so nice to be able to walk out the door straight to the path to the beach. Very peaceful this time of year too. Felt like I had my own private beach!

It was a great location for my fiancé and I to have a little getaway. Listing was accurate and property manager was very responsive. I’d definitely stay again.

We spent the weekend celebrating our 2 year anniversary. The cottage was perfect for us and the proximity to the lake was amazing!
Would recommend this for anyone wanting to stay in Michigan near New Buffalo, but still have a quiet visit.

Adorable cottage on lake Michigan. Can hear waves from unit. Super cute. Could use some additional kitchen pans, but we made do. Great dog friendly brewery down the street - Seedz. Check it out and bring the pooch.

Location, location, location. This small property was spot on for my wife, & I. We would love to go back. I believe it's listed as sleeping four. Just make sure those four don't mind close quarters. let me restate this, our stay was awesome, this is just an FYI for future guests. lot's of stairs to the beach, but well worth it. You're so close you can hear the waves from the lake. My wife enjoyed her coffee, while reading a book in the mornings sitting on the deck area overlooking the lake. thanks for a wonderful memory, & stay.

We stayed 2 nights and were very happy with our stay. There was a nice vibe in the town, and the cottage was very clean. Water was very close, and our dog had a blast at the beach. Would highly recommend!

My boyfriend and I enjoyed a couple days away from home here. Right next to the public access point to the lake, like 4 steps away. Having a grill was was a huge plus. Close to everything shops, bars, food.

My husband and I were looking for a long weekend getaway with our golden retriever and this was the perfect spot. A little rough check in initially due to half the power being off, but this was quickly resolved with a quick response from the property manager. The location was perfect, literally steps away from a private beach and super close to local union pier restaurants. Would definitely come back again! And best of all our dog had a blast at the beach.

For our quick stop in Union Pier, the cottage was adequate, but we would not be comfortable for any longer than a 48 hour stay. Attention to broken furniture, cleanliness of appliances and groundskeeping would help the rating.

Best Beach and location
The Alex cottage is located really close to the beach, making our days at the beach easy and relaxing. The space was clean and comfortable. The only complaint from my family was there wasn’t enough room on the couch for everyone but I was happy this forced us to spend more time at the beach. There are a lot great food options close by too! Great vacation!

We loved this property. The location was PERFECT— right on the beach! The jungle gym in the yard was perfect for the kids.

Lovely winter retreat
We loved our getaway to the Alex cottage in February. It was a comfortable spot for a weekend, even in the off season. A spacious kitchen for all of our home cooking and baking (older oven/stove did take some figuring out). Queen bed was on the firm side and comfortable. Twin beds appears to have more spring to them. Lots of places to get food from and breweries/distilleries/wineries to check out, including outdoor seating options. The staff was incredibly responsive and accommodating. And the cottage is just a few stair cases from the beach. Can't wait to visit in warmer weather!

Great location
The cottage has a fabulous location right on the lake (just next to one of the public access paths) and the whole area is beautiful. We used the kitchen a lot for cooking to avoid being out around people (#covidconcerns) and had a few issues -- most of the knobs on the stove didn't work, some the dishes hadn't been cleaned very well before they had been put away... But mostly we had a very nice stay.

Cozy and delightful
I had a great time at this pretty. It's cozy, clean, and well tended to. The location is literally steps to the beach. It was cold blistery winter when I visited, but I walked down the path to the beach every day for a nature fix and it was amazing. Highly recommend the Alex.

Not Quite Perfect
The location was amazing, as it was just steps away from the beach and could also walk to restaurants too. The house was clean, but very run down. The outside of the fridge was disgusting and rusty, the tile cracked in the bathroom, painted cracked around the house, and stink bugs everywhere.

Great location!
The property is adorable and convenient. Right next to the beach with a swing set in the backyard, that was great for my four-year-old. Cottage is cute and decorated intentionally and minimally, which was nice. We used the cottage for a girls' weekend with my best friend and my daughter and it was the perfect size and layout for that. The living room could use an upgrade in seating. The beach is literally right there, and it was wonderful to wake up and have coffee down there. I would recommend this place to a friend, but I do have to say that the floors were dirty and towels didn't seem fresh. Thankfully, my parents live nearby, so we were able to borrow their vacuum and wash towels at their house -- but this was a disappointment and inconvenience. It could have just been the cleaning crew on at that time, but it is worth noting. Also, we all found the beds to be uncomfortable. Some minor upgrades and attention to detail would make this place unbeatable.

Simply Perfect
At the start of COVID, my friends and I were worried we wouldn't get a chance to enjoy time together at a cabin near the beach. But this cottage gave us everything we were looking for - a place to grill, spend time on the beach, and get away from the insanity for a while. Everything about the experience was smooth - booking, checking in, getting to/from the beach. Nothing to complain about, other than that one rainstorm that chased us from the beach.
