We arrived to what should have been a blissful week at a cottage. We were greeted by another family who had already moved their stuff in. As you can imagine, this was a disaster. Because we had booked through VRBO, the host told us we would have to leave. Six adults and four children under 11. We spent from 6-9:30 talking to VRBO in a Tim Horton's parking lot. No alternate Places to be found on the busiest week of the summer. No local hotels either. We had to drive back home. It was the worst experience possible.
VRBO was no help as there was not one other property available. DO NOT REWARD THIS HOST by booking with him. Please consider somewhere else. To top it all off, I have stage four cancer. Another chance may not come along. This host is terrible.

The Bass Lake house was everything and more. Always something to do - from kayaking, canoeing, or relaxing on one of the many loungers. On a rainy day, curling up on the couch and watching Netflix will definitely book it again.

The cottage is in a very remote area and has a good amount of room. We were a party of 6 adults, 1 teenager & 1 child. The 2 bunkies were also a good size. The cottage had most everything we needed. I had overlooked toilet paper on the list of what to bring and there was none, so don't forget to bring some! Also, you will be surrounded by many trees and still water so be sure to bring plenty of bug spray! The mosquitoes & horse flies are thick in the evening. There is a screened in deck to sit in during Mosquitofest but put a damper on having campfires - Definitely bring full insect gear. We enjoyed beautiful sunsets, lots of family time & the sound of loons.

Great cottage! Well stocked of the essential kitchen items and outdoor activities including canoes, kayas etc.
I really love the setup in the backyard with the water access especially with the little "beach" entrance to it. The bunkies were a nice addition as it is added privacy away from the main cottage if need be(ie taking care of a small child or a movie night without disturbing early sleepers).
Mark is a great host - very thorough and responsive to communication. He also seems like he genuinly wants feedback so he can further improve the place, which is refreshing to see.
I would absolutely love to come back to the bass Lake retreat. Thanks for hosting us, Mark!

We really enjoyed our stay. Lots of kayaks and canoes were so comfy. Lake is calm and quiet. Comfy beds. Outdoor grills were fun and great.
Internet worked great and Netflix and prime all set up. Enjoyed our stay and the outdoor picnic tables were great for our birthday party. Frogs and chipmunks made for lots of entertainment for the boys.

Mark's place is a lovely peaceful place to stay. A very beautiful and quiet area. Their home is spotless and well supplied with everything. The kayaks and canoes were a wonderful addition for our visit as we utilized them many time during our stay. Loved the bunkies! My grandson throughly enjoyed the opportunity to sleep in the upper bunk of the bunky with his mom. Mark thank you, our stay at your home was a wonderful experience for all of us.

Great location for a family getaway. Cottage was well equipped and clean. The flat top grill was amazing, especially for breakfasts. Did not like the fact that we had to make a trip to town to top off the propane tanks before leaving. I’ve rented many places and this was a first for me. Loved having the bunkies, it was a great experience for the younger generation. The new couch was lovely. I have to admit that it made me nervous, especially with having young ones around. I cringed every time someone sat on it. The lake was beautiful, not too many motorized boats. Ideal location for the kids to practice their paddling skills. Neighbours were friendly and informative with local activities and lake information. Mark was quick to respond to questions and very pleasant to deal with. Would book again in the future.

We had a great stay at this cottage as a family. The seating outside was wonderful to enjoy watching people swim and to enjoy our meals together.
The kitchen was well stocked and didn't need to bring anything. Lots of dishes for a a family of 12.
Lots sleeping available and comfortable beds.
Mark was a very responsive to any questions we had prior to the stay and during the stay.
Would highly recommend this accommodation.

Property was clean and as showed in the pictures. Mark was friendly and was extremely helpful upon checking to answer any questions I had opening the cottage. The cottage itself is very close to neighbouring cottages, being right on the lake sound carry’s easily. Some of the beds only hold up to 140lbs, meaning if we had any more people up for the weekend, there would have been no more room to sleep. Would be a absolutely fantastic place for a family to stay!

Secluded, Stunning views, comfy beds, lots of dishes, glasses, small appliances, etc. And most important for me, it was accessible. Hope to book again.

Great property and accommodations at a very fair price. Communication with owner was easy and reliable. Listing was accurate and we were very pleased overall with the rental. Would 10/10 recommend to others.

We had a fabulous time at Mark and Cate’s cottage. Cate was there to check us in and give us the run down. She also called a couple times to make sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. Mark actually went out of his way to return a lost item to us after we had left.
The cottage itself was clean and comfortable. All the rooms had fans which kept the temperature reasonable. An extra fan for the main living area would be nice but we used the one from the main bedroom. The cottage was just big enough for our large group of 9 adults, 4 kids and a crated puppy. Two of the kids slept in pack n’ plays which we were able to squeeze into one of the rooms.
Our favourite part was definitely the outside. The huge deck for outdoor eating, shallow beach for the kids to play and boats to explore the lake were a big perk for us. The one thing we would change is to have a larger living space, but honestly how can you complain when everything else is so perfect? This really is a gem of a cottage and we’re hoping to return again in the near future! Thanks for a great stay Mark and Cate!

This cottage was in a excellent location and very well maintained. Mark the host went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. Communication with him was easy and reliable. It was nice for my young children to play in the sandy shallow water beside the dock. Having 2 clean and cute bunkies made our sleeping accommodations very spacious. We never felt crowded even with 10 people! What a fantastic experience at this northern getaway.

A lovely week!

View from the deck/dock is amazing, great quiet place for a vacation. Keep in mind the water is shallow even off the dock which was fine for us with small kids. The kayaks provided were great as the water was calm and great for water activities. The living room furniture is a little on the old side and a little tougher to get out of if you have older family members.
It is cottage country so make sure to pack the bug spray. Mark was very responsive and the place had everything you needed for cooking.
You can get some great sunset pics from the dock at night

We had an excellent time. The property was exactly as described and had everything we needed to have a fun vacation. The swim dock and sandy beach were a bonus for our young kids.

Friends all had a great time at the location.

Mark met us at the cottage to make sure we were settled in and showed us all the cottage amenities. The cottage itself was very nice and clean. Mark even stopped by on his way into town and asked us if we needed anything! It was a great and relaxing time.

My family and I had a wonderful time at the cottage. The lake was beautiful, cottage had everything we could possibly need and the fishing was great!
Mark was very nice and came out to hook up a generator on our last day because the power had went out but it didn't ruin our stay one bit! We will definitely be back 🙂

This property is amazing if you are looking forward to peace and quiet. Lake is beautiful and the cottage is cozy, fabulous getaway spot.

The property is beautiful; the view of the lake from the cottage is amazing. The cottage and bunkies are nicely decorated and the kitchen is stocked with everything you need. Mark, our host was always available for any questions, and was very kind. Definitely 5 stars!!!!!

This beautiful cabin is a hidden gem. From the misty glass lake in the mornings to the cozy fires at night, it was exactly as we hoped it would be. Super relaxing and peaceful, even our pets were totally chilled out! Even though we brought everything we could think of, Mark still had everything you could possibly think of! May I just add how nice it was that the cabin was in fact exactly as shown in the pictures, and very clean!

Everything was wonderful can sleep15 people. View magnificent. One small item, the livingroom it just too small to accommodate all people

The property was beautiful and in a perfect location. The manual provided to us was very helpful and provided great information.
The canoes were amazing and watching the sunset from the lake is a must do.
Overall wonderful getaway.

This is a lovely property and the surrounding neighbours were all very friendly and welcoming.
The only cons were that my husband and I experienced some electrical issues in bunkie house #1 after our first night. Not the owners fault as he lives quite a distance away and recently had some electrical work done in there (that probably wasn’t done properly). We figured out a work around for the remainder of our stay and hopefully he will get that same electrician in to reevaluate his previous work. Also, the alarm for the sub pump went off on us towards the end of our stay, forcing us to restrict our water usage for the last 2 or so days. I’m assuming that this was only a misfortunate problem for us though since we were probably the last renters of the season.
All in all, we enjoyed ourselves though and would happily rebook again!

Mark’s cottage is exactly as described and very well equipped. I can’t imagine needing anything that wasn’t there. The water is quite shallow, so great swimming for little kids but less so for adults. We all enjoyed ourselves. Perfect for multi-generational families. Better cell phone reception would be good - but relaxing without it.

This property was the perfect getaway for our 2 families. The nine of us stayed comfortably for one week and enjoyed every minute of it. Excellent lake views enjoyed by the campfire or huge deck. The kids loved fishing from the swim out dock and all of the kayaks and canoes. Would definitely stay here again. Fully stocked kitchen and plenty of comfortable beds. Close to Bobcaygeon and Fenelon Falls for day trips. Great time had by all.
4.9
Great gateway for the family, cottage was cozy, clean and organized. Lots of board games and movies, came in handy given the 2 rain days. The screened porch was perfect given the amount of mosquitos and black flies. Owner touched base for anything we needed.
4.9
My family stayed at Mark’s cottage 26Jun-3July - 2x 70+ yo, 2x 50+ yo, 2x 30+ yo and a 3 & 5 yo. We had a great time kayaking, canoeing and swimming with something for everyone to enjoy. The cottage and bunkies were clean and stocked with everything we could need. We had more than enough sleeping options (we all like our own beds) and enjoyed the privacy of the bunkies. All in all, aside from some rain and deer flies which are all part of the experience it was a perfect week in an amazing location. Thank you Mark for sharing this gem of yours and for your responsiveness and care before and during our stay.

This cottage was a great retreat for our family! It has great space with 3 bedrooms and 2 bullies! Our family enjoyed swimming, fishing and canoeing on Bass Lake. Absolutely everything we needed was right there and Mark was a great owner to work with.

Our week at the cottage was an enjoyable and relaxing break. Communication with Mark was good and he was very helpful with check-in, and getting my boat into the water. The cottage is well-appointed and lots of water toys. Fishing for muskie and walleye was good. Thanks, Mike

My husband, our young son and I just returned from our 1 week stay at Mark's beautiful cottage. We had an amazing time. The cottage itself is so nice and quaint, with all the amenities of home. The view is spectacular. Beautiful sunsets over the bay and a nice screened in porch for evening card games. Mark was so friendly and accommodating and just a gem of a person. We definitely hope to return again. Thank you Mark for letting us enjoy your space.

My family and I had a great week away at this hidden gem. A 9 out of 10! Tucked away on a small quaint lake, surrounded by nature. My 12 year old son had a whole bunkie to himself, which he loved. Fishing was great. My son caught Bass and even caught a musky! The screened in porch/bar we used a lot, as the mosquitoes and deer flies were pretty bad. I loved the outdoor shower, the beautiful dock, lounge chairs, the private beach, and the swim out dock with a slide was a huge hit. My kids were on it every day. The weather was hot and the water was a decent temp. Fans were in each room. Mark was a great host. He greeted us when we arrived and walked us through the important “must knows”. He was very welcoming, helpful and answered all of our questions. The cottage and bunkies were clean and well kept. He really has thought of everything. Lots of water toys, kayaks, life jackets, canoes, a paddle boat, games, DVD (movies) for the rainy days. Very organized set up in the cottage. We will definitely book again.
4.9
The view by the water is spectacular! We had amazing sunsets and the sounds of nature all around us was so serene. The cottage is very well equipped with all the essentials and the convenience of electronics and Wifi. Definitely we plan to comeback!

Amazing on every front! We stayed for two weeks and absolutely loved this delightful lakefront cottage. It was a winter wonderland. Mark is hands down THE BEST host ever, extremely responsive and had everything ready for our stay. The cottage was beautifully clean, beautifully minimal and not cluttered, cozy, very warm with a fabulous fireplace, a picture window overlooking the lake that we stared at all day long! We took many many beautiful walks and hikes, it was a peaceful retreat like no other. Soul-soothing in every way. Cannot recommend highly enough - we will be back! Wonderful!
4.9
We had a wonderful time despite some cool rainy weather. The cottage was very clean and everything was as it was described. We had six adults and two children. The sleeping arrangements were fine but the living space was a bit small for our family.
4.9
Enjoyed our stay a great deal, glad we chose this place and area
4.9
The main cottage and two bunkies worked very well for our extended family gathering of six adults and two kids. Because the living/dining/kitchen area is fairly small it would be a squeeze to be indoors in extended bad weather, but the outdoor decks and lake are fantastic. We had a great stay.
4.9
Just got back from a week at this cottage and we had a great time! The fall colours were spectacular and the cottage was perfect. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was very well stocked and functional. The place was spotless when we arrived and Mark was very accessible and great to deal with. The neighbours were also very nice!
The cottage is only a few minutes away from some excellent KATVA ATV trails which provided hours of fun and adventure (Five Points Trails). We also noticed many snowmobile trails in the area as well.
Overall, a great location, lovely lake, perfect cottage in a great setting - we will be back!

We enjoyed our nice quiet family vacation. Mark was an amazing host. The lake was beautiful. We enjoyed fishing and water sports all week. Thank you again!
