About this cottage rental
Rental is weekly; Sunday to Sunday
This charming waterfront cottage is approximately 110 feet from the water. It is located on the pristine 333 acre lake known as Big Pond, one of the Berkshires most hidden treasures. Enjoy and relax on the deck as you watch the sunrise every morning or just to enjoy the beauty of the lake at your fingertips.
This cottage sleeps 4-5 comfortably with 2 bedrooms; one with a queen bed and the other with two twin beds. There is a spacious living room and dining area with a wood stove to enjoy on a cool night if you are not having a fire on the beach in the fire pit.
This cottage is rustic with imperfections and is completely furnished. Heat source is a wood stove and wood is provided.
If you are not relaxing on the deck you can sit on our privately owned beach area and relax by the waters edge. There are beach chairs to use, a dock to sit on and a raft to swim to.
This cottage sits in a little cove and is ideal for young children because the water is shallow near the dock and they can walk out about 50 feet before it starts getting deep.
The lake is clean and ideal for swimming, fishing, kayaking, boating, windsurfing and so much more.
Locally, in the center of East Otis (2 miles), you will find Katie's General Store with a lot of fresh meats for your barbecue and a take out snack bar with great food like rotisserie chicken, ice cream and more.
Opposite corner is the Knox Trail Inn, a great restaurant and bar with entertainment on weekends,
Around the corner is Papa's which sells organic foods and host a farmers market, seasonally, every Saturday from 9-1.
Within 1-6 miles in either direction from the center of Otis, you have The Farmington River Restaurant that serves a great breakfast and more, the Grouse House restaurant for dinner, and just a little further down the road the Otis Poultry farm for fresh eggs, homemade chicken pies, goods made from local artists, and lots more including local souvenirs.
For you larger shopping needs you have Great Barrington or Westfield, both approximately 30 minutes away.

Our hostesses are 2 of the nicest ladies you'll ever meet. Very accommodating and welcoming. Felt right at home. Very enjoyable week. Fellow renters just as pleasant and friendly. Nice place to relax on the lake.

It's a cottage that brings back memories of childhood--not fancy, but with everything one needs. The location is AMAZING--a pristine lake that invites all manner of water activities. We loved every moment of our time on Big Pond.

The property was a welcome diversion from the pandemic. Close to the water, for kayaking swimming and grilling. We had a wonderful time for 2 whole weeks. Debbie, Chris and DJ were wonderful hosts and I'd totally recommend to property to prospective tenants. 5 stars !!!!!

This exceeded our expectations. The owners are lovely, the cottage cute and clean. The beds are new, and very comfortable. You do share a beach area with two other houses on the property, something to be aware of. The lake is warm and clean and the kids loved swimming out to the raft. Great fishing too. We all loved our vacation here and will come again!

I have rented this cottage for the past two years and will be again in 2016. It has become our family tradition with my grandchildren. Comfortable and safe, the lake beckons you to swim, fish, raft, boat, birdwatch ( eagles, especially). Marshmallows over the campfire each night wind things down after stargazing. Polite pets make friends with all. Sunrise is beautiful. Even rainy days are fun. Grills and outdoor seating are included with each cottage. We cannot wait for our special time there.
