About this villa rental
2 Bedroom , 2 Bathroom villa with an adjacent Studio Loft. The Loft Space is adjacent to the pool and has a full size bed, bathroom, AC, fans, cable tv, wifi and kitchen.
A completely private balinese style dipping pool and garden compliment this villa. Immersed in primary rainforest, you are surrounded by our botanic garden, birds, animals, trees and near a stream that runs most of the year.
A covered lookout deck allows you to enjoy coffee or cocktails while you gaze at the ocean and the sunset.
Walking trails line the property.
Garden tour included in your stay upon request.
Casa Caribaea is nestled five minutes from central Uvita up a quiet paved road. Set on 2.5 acres and bordered by hundreds of acres of primary jungle in a verdant garden setting, it comprises only two residences. From the moment you enter the luxuriant garden estate, your holiday is suffused with tropical serenity.
Designed along the lines of a Balinese village in the hills, Casa Caribaea projects a theme of simplistic elegance. The buildings use local stones and hardwoods blending seamlessly into the environment. The gardens are generously given center stage and provide a wonderful contrast against the sweeping ocean views. The informal and accommodating owners live in the Gran Pagoda home and are friendly and full of information. The rental villa is privately situated 40 yards away from the Gran Pagoda House and enjoys sunset ocean views from the Sunset Cocktail Deck.
Rooms are a sensuous combination of luxury and homespun charm. The latter comes in the form of antiques collected by the owners on their travels and the unique furniture created by local and international wood artisans. All bathrooms and kitchens are spacious and lined with white quartz. The radial ceiling beams supporting the cathedral design are made of Nispero, a local hard wood. The hand-crafted wood windows encourage guests to take advantage of the continuous breezes that whip through the property but all rooms also have air conditioning and fans. Flower arrangements are decoratively arranged throughout the living quarters showcasing the prized jewels of the garden.
Tropical abundance as a phrase does not do justice to the profusion and variety of plants here. Heliconias, gingers, bromeliads and palms are constantly attracting birds and butterflies. Many of the species will be unrecognizable to most as the owner has been meticulously collecting rare plants for several years. The garden boasts the largest collection of heliconias within the country at over 110 varieties and counting. There are also over 500 palm species on display. Several rare species endemic to Madagascar and New Caledonia are littered throughout the landscape. A series of limestone walkways, wooden bridges, pergolas and streams run through the property. Many of these meander through primary rainforest giving wildlife lovers more opportunities to gaze at toucans and howler monkeys.
The staff prides itself on local knowledge. The owner is an avid surfer and can suggest the best places to surf for a given experience level. The owner also offers unique nature tours of the area upon request

You will need a 4x4 to get to this place. The road up has some bad patches and it is quite steep. The place itself was very clean, a/c worked well in the bedrooms and the water was hot with reasonable pressure. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils etc for self catering. Be sure to bring your own shampoo etc.
The pool and outdoor patio are very nice but you have the pros and cons of being in the jungle. The pros were that we saw howler and white faced monkeys, toucans and pizotes right from the pool. The cons were that there was an emergence of a daytime cicada the day we got there and their sound was very high decibels from ~7:30 am to sunset. Much louder than the cicadas at night. You might want ear plugs for spending time in this area during the day. They may only be around for a month or so.

Beautiful spot
A magical jungle garden in the mountains overlooking the ocean. Toucans, macaws, and howler monkeys abound. Grill local fish next to the Balinese pool in the evening after watching the sunset and a tiny hummingbird settling down on its twig for the night. Excellent surfing nearby.

2 weeks in the jungle paradise
The location was fantastic! Wildlife abounds here.
We had a couple of minor issues, We had several large bugs in the house the entire stay regardless of how many we killed.
Water pressure was an issue occasionally. Overall it was a great stay in the jungle, with Toucans, Monkey's and Macaws all sighted from the pool area. Very private and relaxing. A check-in from the property manager every couple of days would have been good.

Check in was difficult. Jason didn't didn't provide a phone number until after check in and locating the property wasn't the easiest. There are no signs to indicate which driveway to turn into. You definitely need a four wheel drive vehicle. The road up the mountain is steep.
THIS IS NOT AN OCEAN VIEW HOUSE. You can see the ocean from one high point on the property, but that's it. Not from the house.
Jason was friendly and seemed to be attentive when needed. We had no issues with the house. It was nice. The grounds / landscaping were incredible. We spent a lot of time playing cards in the back by the cooling pool.
The hotel fifty yards away was a great place for drinks. We used their pool also.

Beautiful and comfy
The 3rd bedroom is downstairs with a private entrance. I didn’t remember reading that detail. On our end it was fine but for some that could be something. The place is adorable. Cozy and comfy. Great beds. We loved using the back grill for dinners and it had plenty of stuff to cook with.

Great Family Vacation!
We loved staying in Uvita and the house was beautiful and perfect. Jason was a fantastic host even when we arrived on Christmas Day in the dark! It was a dream to find out we could drink the water which was so rich with minerals. The house was just the right size for our family of 4 with all the amenities. There were plenty of clean towels and we were able to do laundry when we wanted. The beds were all comfortable and the kitchen had all we needed to make dinner and eat breakfast. The house is located in the jungle next to the Hotel Ballena where fantastic food made each day wonderful, especially since I am gluten free. The lemonade with mint was a favorite! Also the star fruit was delicious! We swam in the private pool at night with the colorful lights which also lit up the jungle. The house is close to the Uvita Information Center where you can book tours after reading the book provided by Jason which describes all there is to do during your stay. Uvita is a great little town next to Ojochal which has amazing restaurants namely Citrus. The food was delicious and the service was fantastic. Uvita is also close to Dominical where there are great souvenir shops and big waves at the beaches. Within Uvita is Whales Tale which is a unique beach because of the Whales Tale sandbar. Being on the beach at sunset is stunning. It was an amazing vacation for us to visit Costa Rica and we would happily rent this house again from Jason! Thank you for a wonderful stay!!

Excellent Experience!
The host Jason was very helpful and friendly and the house was clean and beautiful!
(1) The eggs and beer in the fridge were perfect welcome presents when we arrived. (2) The house was in a perfect condition, and the pool area was secluded, quiet, and full of nature.
(3) The walking path within the compound itself was a miniature rainforest: full of different species of plants and wild creatures (birds, butterflies, and monkeys) but also safe to walk around.
(4) The ocean view form the main pool was astonishing!
(5) The bar and restaurant at Vista Ballena (a few minutes of walking distance) is a convenient place to have a drink or a meal.
We were very happy with our stay and hope to return in the future!

Great little find in the hills
We loved our stay here in Uvita. This home was on the same land as the owners main house and another vacation rental, so we felt very secure and safe. The landscape is absolutely beautiful! Lots of gorgeous plants and trees surround the area. There's a path through the property that you can take and see the wildlife. We spotted several monkeys on the trees.
The house is well appointed with the basics anyone would need, with an added bonus that the owner leaves you a welcome package in the fridge and a selection of fresh local fruit; a wonderful little touch of hospitality. The house has access to a small viewing site on the property where you can see the ocean and enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning. The property is far away enough to enjoy the peace and quite of the hills and close enough where you can be in town and the beach in 5-7 minutes.

amazing property surrounded by beautiful rainforest
My family of 4 stayed at this property last week. Everything was perfect. The property is comfortable and clean. The grounds are beautiful and there is a private pool to sit and relax at which is great in the evening. Victoria was so helpful and my son enjoyed playing with both of her kids.
We walked to the hotel across the street for breakfast a couple times and dinner once which was very convenient.
The location was great and there are many things to do in the surrounding areas as well as Uvita.
Our stay was perfect and we can't wait to go back!

Awesome Stay at Casa Caribaea!
We loved staying at Casa Caribaea! The property was absolutely stunning, photos don’t do it justice. Jason and Victoria were the friendliest and kindest owners. They helped us organize an amazing tour through the mangroves. We had the jungle as our backyard, but were about 10 minutes from Dominical. It was the best of both worlds and we can’t wait to go back!!!!

Great for family
We visited Costa Rica during spring break and out stay at the Casa Caribaea was everything we had hoped for and more! The owners Jason and Victoria are fantastic!! They were very helpful with their knowledge of Costa Rica and it was a pleasure meeting them and their children.
About the Villa. The property is cozy, lovely and well-equipped. Plenty of room for 4 with all the comforts of home - two bedrooms, and ample living room, tv, cable, Wi-Fi. The small private pool was really enjoyable and had the perfect temperature. The grounds are absolutely beautiful!! There is a small hotel a short walk from the Villa which was convenient for evening cocktails or grab a meal.
Highly recommend the Casa Caibaea!!!

Perfect Welcome to Costa Rica
We drove to This place after arriving in San Jose. It was so comfortable and welcoming after 24 hours of travel. It's a beautiful property with an amazing view. The pool is under the main house, which we did not use much. But it is gorgeous. The house is above their garage, across and big drive way from the main house. So it is pretty private. The house was stocked with necessities which was SO helpful! Coffee from the local shop (Sibu Cafe which is great), eggs, oil, and a few beers. The beer was crucial after our travel day!
Victoria and Jason were very helpful in recommending where to eat or things to do. They recommended exotica, which was the best food I've had in Costa Rica. When I arrived I mentioned yoga and Victoria invited me to her class the next morning, which was fantastic. We were only there for a short time, we went to Nauyaca waterfall both days, it was a hard hike, but worth it.
Thanks for the stay

A great New Year's stay in Uvita!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa Carabaea in Uvita! The property exceeded our expectations; was well furnished, in a quiet off the beaten track location and the hosts were extremely friendly, helpful and went out of their way to make our stay memorable -- thank you!
A couple of portable beach chairs to keep in the car during a stay and maybe a boogie board for the kids to borrow would have been great, as none of the beaches have chairs/sunbeds to rent.
A thoroughly enjoyable stay and would thoroughly recommend to others.

Beautiful
This place is beautiful. First visit to CR. It was a struggle for us to get here from San Jose ~ the driving is SO different from the US. No addresses? No street signs? Great place for our 1st few nights. Any issues were quickly handled. The infinity pool is spectacular! You do share with the owners, and other guests. We walked the trail on the property and it was awesome. We did the ATV ~ lots of fun! Ladies, wear a sports bra :) Also, walking the Whales Tail at low tide was a highlight of our trip
