About this house rental
Enjoy island life at its finest! You'll see more deer, eagles and seals than people. You won't be in close contact with anyone the entire time you're here. You'll be secluded on the eastern shore of Oro Bay on Anderson Island, about 90 minutes from Seattle. Enjoy the view and all the beauty the Puget Sound has to offer. Kayak, paddle board, beach comb, golf and experience some of the most amazing sunsets you'll ever see.
This secluded, spacious and sunny 2,500 square foot beach home, just steps from the beach, has everything you need to create memories to last a lifetime. Enjoy your time with friends and family and still have plenty of privacy when you want it.
There are two upstairs master bedroom suites. The South Suite has a king bed, vaulted ceilings, ensuite with a jetted tub. The North Suite has a queen bed and a single daybed, and ensuite. Both bedroom suites have flat screen TVs and private decks with spectacular ocean and island views. On the main level is a third bedroom with a queen sized bed. There is another full bath with washer and dryer also on the main level.
There's a cozy living room with a leather (sleeper) sofa and a very cozy sun room , both great for relaxing and enjoying the sunset or watching the 48" flat screen TV.
Our Anderson Island home has great Wi-Fi and Direct TV.
The fully equipped kitchen, kitchen bar and dining area open to the huge entertainment deck. On the deck you'll find a hot tub, propane grill, propane fire table and a complete set of patio furniture. Just a few steps to the beach where you'll have 3 kayaks and 2 stand up paddle boards at your service at no additional charge. The calm waters of Oro Bay make for some of the smoothest paddling you'll find anywhere. A short paddle across the bay brings you to Jacobs Point Park Marine Reserve with 82 acres of natural habitat and over a mile of pristine, undisturbed beach. This is the largest natural reserve in the entire Puget Sound. Expect to see our resident seals, heron, deer and eagles. More experienced paddlers can circle the island or head for nearby Ketron Island. If you're lucky you'll see the Orca and Humpback whales that frequently visit southern Puget Sound. If you'd like to bring your own boat we have a buoy right in front of the house.
Whatever you like to do, Anderson Island is a great place to do it. Many of our guests enjoy the natural beauty of the Puget Sound from the air-conditioned comfort of our home. If you feel more adventurous, there's lots to do on island. Golf at the Riviera Golf course and enjoy meals or drinks at the clubhouse restaurant overlooking Lake Josephine. Hike or bike the many parks and trials including Andy's Marine Park. Explore the many beaches of the island shores, bays and coves. Visit our local historical museum. Swim and fish in one of our 3 fresh water lakes including our famous "Old Swimming Hole" or take in a yoga class at our local community club studio. If you'd like to venture to the mainland, you'll find some great shops, restaurants, and spas in historical town of Steilacoom, all within walking distance of the mainland ferry dock. The Chambers Bay Golf Course, site of the 2015 U.S. Open, is just a few minutes drive from the Steilacoom ferry dock.
Please note that there is a maximum occupancy in our home of 6 total guests (strict rule). Our base rate is calculated for 4 guests. For parties of 5 or more, we charge an additional $20/per guest/per night (including kids) even if they are not staying the entire visit.
Purchase groceries for your stay on the mainland in advance of catching the ferry to the island. There is a general store on the island with fairly limited grocery items like milk, bread, snacks, coffee, beverages, beer and wine.

This property provides all the amenities necessary for a wonderful summer retreat with friends. We especially loved the hot tub, the outdoor seating area, and the serene views.
However, the path to the beach is obstructed by overgrown weeds and thorns, which should be cleared to improve guest access. Additionally, the downstairs TV appears outdated and was challenging to operate.
Despite these minor inconveniences, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

This was a great stay. The island is great. The home is right on the water. The provided kayaks and paddle boats were really fun. The home was clean and checking in and out were super easy. We really enjoyed our stay.

The property is absolutely amazing and the house is beautiful!!! We really enjoyed the “sun room” during the storm, working on a puzzle and watching the storm come in. Great location!!!

We planned a trip looking for a comfortable place with a beautiful view, and this did not disappoint! The house was spectacular and the view out onto the sound was amazing. We definitely plan to venture back to the Pacific Northwest!

Had a fabulous week with friends and kids. So close to the water. Having water "toys" on proberty was a big plus. Great deck for meals, games and hanging out. Kitchen and living spaces good size. Bedroom balconies for morning coffee perfect. We had a blast!

The house is incredibly peaceful. It was very very clean and the kitchen is well stocked. The check in process felt somewhat cumbersome, and there were a lot of rules. However, we mixed up our check out date and consequently checked out late, which they were very nice about. It would be nice if they would just buy some towels for the Beach and hot tub rather than requiring that you bring them. But we slept well, watched beautiful sunsets, hiked all over the island and generally had a really lovely time at Donn and Betty's place. There aren't any board games so bring your own!

We had a great visit - the Anderson Island home was perfect for us. The house was very clean, quiet and located on the bay. We enjoyed cooking, hot tubbing, kayaking (spotted a couple of bald eagles), and just relaxing.

We enjoyed our stay. Views were great, deck needs a refresh, peeling paint. If you stay, bring water, tap water is yellow. Plenty of places to sleep. Could upgrade kitchen supplies, drinking wine our of a scratched plastic glass isn't near as fun as a clean glass wine goblet. Put off we had to bring our own towels for hottub.

Four of us friends stayed very comfortably. There was plenty of space, in a quiet neighborhood and it had pretty well equipped bathrooms and kitchen. It felt cared for and clean. The driveway is a little rough for folks with mobility issues.

Wonderful stay and beautiful views. The island is such a quiet and peaceful getaway and only a short ferry ride away from many many adventures in the Puget sound. Would recommend!

This house is so comfy and welcoming. It had everything we needed. The waters were calm and perfect for kayaking. Amy, the on-island host who met us was so friendly and got us checked in quickly. Betty, the owner had great communication. I would definitely rent this house again!

We had a great stay! Everything was clean and communication was great between the owner and island hostess. We would definitely recommend this as a vacation spot!

This house had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. All the house rules were clearly laid out ahead of time (which we greatly appreciated). The house is right on the water with only a short walk to get down to the beach. It was nice having access to the kayaks and SUPs. The hot tub was nice. The beds were comfortable. The towels and linens provided were good quality. We had some issues with a couple of the showers but the owners were great with communications and handled it appropriately. As others have mentioned, the driveway is quite steep but we were able to drive down to load/unload the car which made it manageable.

Wonderful Getaway
Beautiful comfortable home right on the beach. Kitchen has everything you need (even basic spices)! Plenty of space to relax
Check in was seamless with their wonderful hostess meeting us right on time and showed us all we needed to know. Even though it rained all weekend we enjoyed the view and the hot tub and just relaxing!
We can not wait to come back in the summer so we can walk on the beach and enjoy the deck.
Some have complained about the house rules which we did not understand - Respect this house. Take off your shoes (we do at home anyway!) tossing sheets in the wash and towels in the basket is no big deal.
One tip - there is NOTHING on the Isand. bring it all with you. other than bare bones basics at the mini market Anderson Island is residential ( OK there is a golf course with a restuarant and the little coffee shop by the mini mart was cue for a latte run) and QUIET and LOVELY.

We had reserved this property in 2020, but cancelled because of COVID. I am so glad we decided to book again. The location (water view) and amenities (hot tub, gas fire pit and bbq, kayaks) made our stay very enjoyable.
The wildlife was an added bonus, especially the nest of swallows.

Having seen some prior reviews that raised concerns about too many restrictions we were a little apprehensive. However, our experience was fantastic communication with the owners, the place was spotlessly clean, very comfortable, equipped with everything we could need and more, fantastic views- simply outstanding! There is a brand new hot tub which was wonderful. Prior comments said too many signs and rules in house- we have no idea where that came from. There’s a sign or two reminding users it is a septic tank system, and another asking no shoes in the house, but that is about it. Overall we wished we had stayed longer and absolutely loved the house and the experience. Getting to the island is easy and the on island store is really well stocked for whatever we needed. Mostly we sat on the huge decks and watched the view, walked on the beach, and curled up inside relaxing. Loved it!

Property is gorgeous. The communication was anxiety inducing. From expectations of us arriving at an exact time and having to text way ahead of time, to having no shampoo at all or towels you could use for the hot tub. We were flying in and told buy our own towels and bring them.. We came to visit family and had to get permission for a day visit for my 80 year old in laws. The rules were posted EVERY where. Don’t turn heat up over 72 or lower than 65, can’t use fireplace, No shoes in house, put remotes exactly where you found them. Do not move anything, to not touch decor, take your recycling with you (to where!? We flew in) take out trash, run dishwasher, do a load of towels, strip linens and put in laundry hamper downstairs, don’t walk to right on beach, don’t park in driveway (it’s super steep to take luggage or required groceries up and down) the landing for parking has jet skis and a boat making turning around very challenging on a super steep incline), text upon leaving, and on and on… we have had our own vacation rentals in AZ and we would never do this. We had hoped to unplug and relax but ended up leaving one whole day just not to feel micro managed. For the price I could’ve stayed downtown in a fancy waterfront hotel and not had to do laundry on my vacation.

My family of 4 stayed at this property for a weekend in January. It was awesome. We LOVED that it was right on the water - with lovely views from so many rooms. We all enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub, the beds were very comfy and the house was spotless. We didn't get to take advantage of the kayaks/paddle boards this time, but would love to come back in the summer. It was our first time to Anderson island and we enjoyed the isolation and the family time together. We created some great memories. Thank you xxxx

Perfect Peaceful Place!
We celebrated our 10th anniversary at this wonderful Anderson Island home. It was a quiet and peaceful place. We enjoyed the amazing ocean view, kayaking right out the back door, watching the eagles, birds and seals, wonderful hot tub, nearby hikes and more. The home is comfortable and clean and we would certainly return!

Relaxation and beauty
We loved this house! The view is incredible and the house is spacious yet cozy. The beds were the most comfortable we have ever slept in. We enjoyed the hot tub and firepit. We took a long and lovely walk to the general store for supplies and souvenirs. You can also walk to the Lakeshore Restaurant from the house in about a mile which has great food and views. The house owner and hostess were very accommodating and responded to our questions right away. We hope to return in the summer to use the kayaks and paddleboards. Highly reccommend!

Beautiful Property
This is a gorgeous, very clean, very comfortable property. While we enjoyed our stay immensely the intenseness of communications with the property owner became very stressful. We understood that we needed to sign liability waivers upon arrival but had no idea how much that would dictate our trip. While we respect their request to sign the waivers we did not need to be reminded of it so often. We have stayed at VRBO properties in the past and have never been followed so closely by the owners.
The house has beautiful big windows that look out at the water. It rained much of our visit (we didn't mind at all- the view was gorgeous!). The kitchen was well stocked with essentials for cooking. Three bathrooms allowed us all privacy. We would like to suggest that there be extra bath towels and washcloths though. One for each person for a four night stay meant the need to do laundry which on vacation is never fun. We brought our own beach towels as requested, but no one else in our group brought one, so everyone shared ours- which wasn't a problem. It just might be nice to provide some beach towels. I sent everyone the paperwork I was given, along with a short list of the most important points (liability forms needing signing, bring beach towels, no shoes allowed in the house), but I really do not think anyone else read through it like we did- making us the ones who had to point out rules and make sure they were followed. Overall we did have a good stay. The island and the home are beautiful.
