We enjoyed the house, the backyard and access to many activities within walking or biking distance. You’re at the top of the state. So 35 minutes from Lake Michigan or Lake Huron, we had dinner in multiple cities, enjoying the short scenic drives.

The property is charming and was perfect for my family’s stay in Indian River. The location is quiet and convenient. The house was clean, well kept and offered plenty of space for everyone. We’ll definitely be back!

Overall the property was as described, great location releative to the publice beach and downtown area. I do wish there was a laundry on-site, there isn't a laundry mat in Induan River, we needed to druve into Cheboygan to do our laundry.

House is in good condition, clean and bug free. Well equipped with everything you need for your stay. Great home base to enjoy all downtown Indian River has to offer. Nice area for camp fire and place for your dog to relax as well.

Upon checking in we were pleasantly surprised at how nice the home is. It has a nice fenced in yard and quiet neighbors. The home was clean and has a great open layout to hang out in. The neighborhood is nice and in a great location right in the thick of things. Its only a 10 minute walk to Burt Lake. We have electric bikes and loved the location to jump on the rail trail as well as ride to any of the restaurants and bars in the neighborhood. We will be booking there again!

The house was large, perfect yard for our 2 dogs. Had lots of tables, chairs, bonfire pit, bbq grill to make it great to hang out in the evenings. Could use a few updates and maybe add a half bath and it would be a 5 star . So close to the marina where we rented a great pontoon for 1 of the days. So close to Burt lake state park and walking distance (2 streets over)to the bar/restaurant on the indian river where you could hang out and watch the boats go by. And great to walk into town with other bars/restaurants & coffee shop was why we chose this property. Would stay again. Host got back to me really quick everytime I had a question.

Great stay
Stayed here with my sister and family for a long weekend. It was perfect. Lots of room to spread out. Cute backyard with fire pit and water feature. Was nice to be able to bring my dog along as well. Would recommend. Right outside of downtown and walking distance to restaurants and shops.

Spacious home
The house was very spacious and clean, except for the smell, not sure if it was musty or old cigarette smoke, but definitely was a detriment to our stay. Pans in the kitchen need to be replaced.

Spacious and quiet
Really amazed at how much actual space this place has. So comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. Had 6 adults and we were not on top of each other. Very quiet area with very little traffic. Kitchen was very user friendly. We all loved it and would not hesitate to stay again.

Love this place
We really enjoy staying at The Rock. Just spent our 3rd time there. The nostalgia of the place seems to lend an air of relaxation to us. We also appreciated the window A/C units in two of the bedrooms because it was a very hot and humid week!

Quaint house in Indian River
The house was comfortable and location convenient. However ceiling fan and light fixtures needed to be cleaned. Dust on ceiling fan prohibited us from turning it on and using it. They had floor fans which we used instead. Only had 2 window air conditioners in 2 of the 3 bedrooms. Carpeting in family room needed to be cleaned. House is definitely dated and in need of some upgrades.

The house was very comfortable for the 2 of us. Indian River is such a great location as it looks is not far from any of the up north cities. Would definitely stay again.

Great place for weekend visit
We had a great time. This property is very convenient to Burt Lake and Mackinaw Island. It was very relaxing and a well maintained property. The beds were comfy. It was a nice place to have a dog although make sure that you know that the back side of the yard is not fully fenced. They had a great BBQ and we grilled and enjoyed eating outside.

Winter Adventure in Indian River
This house felt like taking a step back in time, it reminded me of the comforts of my grandparents house. It’s cool how they have kept the house the way it is. The house was clean and it is actually much bigger than it appears from the outside and photos. The location is awesome, there are many restaurants and bars within walking distance. Burt Lake is a short 5-10min walk and a cute neighborhood to walk through. It was about a 25 min drive to Nubs and Boyne Highland. The wifi was great and we both had no issues working from the home. The bed was comfortable and we slept great. Also, I’m so glad they allowed our dog to come with us!

Character and Space
This was a wonderful place to spend a long holiday weekend for snowmobiling. The home had much more space than we expected, plus it was filled with character and history. The trails were just about 2 blocks away, so we could ride from the front door. And there were 2 gas stations where you could fill up just 5 minutes down the trail. We even brought 2 vehicles and a 27-foot enclosed trailer. Parking was a bit tight, but we were able to fit. The house was clean and well stocked with the essentials. WiFi worked great for the grandkids. And it had a fenced back yard for the dog, though some of the fence is a bit short so I wouldn’t rely on just that if you have a big dog or a jumper. We don’t, so it worked great for us. There is a natural spring in the backyard which was shooting out water. Because of the weather, it was forming interesting ice mounds around the basin. All in all, it was a lot more than we expected for the money.

This is a charming house that has clearly been a family gathering spot for decades. The problem is, there is no attempt to ready the place for GUESTS, rather than just family and friends. My biggest issue is that despite the description- THERE IS NO FIREPLACE!I even told the owner when booking that the fireplace was important, as my finance and I were recreating a special weekend. When I arrived I found a giant PADLOCK on the fireplace gate. I called and texted the host and I was told that they were not allowing guests to use the fireplace because they didn't want to purchase liability insurance. Why wouldn't you tell your guests that when they booked, or when they told they needed one???? Better yet- change your property description online! The place was half-cleaned. This is scary in the time of COVID. So we spent or first minutes would things down with lysol wipes rather than relaxing. There was hair in the bathroom on the counters, toilet, and in the bathtub. There was also hair on various surfaces in the house and the shower curtain had mildew at the bottom. The bathmat was dirty. The bedside table has a glass topper and it was badly shattered, leaving huge, dangerous, sharp shards of glass on the bedside table. I almost sliced my hand open reaching to plug my phone in the wall next to the table. The owners did not tell us that we couldn't use the fireplace, and didn't tell us that we needed to bring our own firewood for the outdoor forgot (despite having close to 1000 lbs of wood stacked outside). We were told that is for family use only. Our weekend away was ruined. We would've chosen a different (and cleaner, newer, better maintained) place if we had known their was no fireplace. The backyard also has the feel of a suburb. When you sit on the porch or at the firepit, your view is of houses on all sides, pretty damn close too (a couple years away). So rather than looking out the window into the woods, you get to watch the neighbor fixing his lawnmower on one side, or working on an old car on the other. The neighbors are so close, you can hear everything they say when they are outside. Not the woodsy cabin we had hoped for. This place is should be kept as a family spot. The owners have no interest in investing the time or money or care required to run a vacation rental. We SEVERELY over paid for what we for. (Grandmas old run down place that she doesn't visit anymore and the rest of the family doesn't really want).

Cozy return to yesteryear
We really enjoyed our stay at The Rock! The home is much larger than we expected. Great living/dining area. The home and decor were very nostalgic - reminded us of staying with grandparents. There is only one window A/C unit in the back bedroom (no central air), no washer/dryer and could not use the dishwasher. Not a huge deal when we were there but FYI if those amenities are important to you. We really appreciated being able to bring our dog! Thank you Nichelle!

Great location and price! Old family house charm.
Perfect place to experience Indian River/Burt/Mullet. Fit our group of six perfect with extra room to spare. It's not a new or updated place but that is what gives it, its charm. Feels like your hanging at the family place up north. Only two blocks from public boat launch, shops and restaurants. We will definately be back again!

Great Location
Great location. Easy drive to Petoskey, Mackinaw City, Cheboygan, and close to Burt Lake State Park. House was roomy enough for seven adults. Comfortable decor brought back memories of an earlier time. Owners were responsive and made checking in and out a breeze.

4th of July 2020
We stayed at this residence over long 4th of July weekend. The house is clean and plenty of outdoor amenities for cooking out and sitting on back deck and yard. We did not stay long during the day as everyday by 11am we were meeting family on boats on Indian River and did Kayaking down crooked river. We generally were not back til 8pm to grill out and then headed back to town which is very easy walking to ice cream or local bars. It was a perfect location! It was a very hot weekend and the house was comfortable with the air conditioner, although we used fans to push the air to the other 2 bedrooms. The only other thing that was a little confusing it there was food in the freezer and door of refrigerator, we just did not use it and after we were done disposed of or packed all the food we brought.
We had 6 of us and then on one night an extra couple came that brought a blow up bed, So very roomy for all.
