The staff was lovely, and very helpful, the treatments were fantastic. the masseuse Amy, was amazing! and worth every penny and more. The food at the open table was delicious.
The Spa was under repairs and the rooms needed a bit more care and attention. rusty furniture and lots of cobwebs outside. bugs in the bathroom. and the out door pool was stated 28 degrees it was more like 10 degrees.
The Hotel was beautiful, but is was like a maze to get to single road traffic and over 6 foot boarders for mile.

Location location location!
Not too comfortable bed and noisy appliances in the room
4.5
The location.
Whilst we knew dogs were allowed in some restaurants, there were 2 noisy dogs which made us want to move into the main restaurant. This was not a big issue apart from my partners main course was very small so felt this was not good value for money. We did report this to the waitress and reception, at the very least thought this might have be taken off the bill.

The location. Spa , rooms and service
Nothing

The location was fantastic, the staff were courteous and attentive at all times, food was excellent.
The location is remote and can be difficult to locate, via the narrow country lanes, but well worth the challenge once you arrive!

Beautiful location and wonderful rooms
Didn’t like dogs being allowed in the dining room and being allowed to lie on settees and chairs in the lounge area.
4.5
Location is very picturesque. Good walks if the weather cooperates. Spacious bathrooms with heated floors. Decent sauna and pool.
Food was extremely pricey for the low selection and quality. Feel that they are egregiously price gouging because of the remote location. I was ill during my stay, and the staff could accommodate me with any more palatable food options. We asked for some broth, and the kitchen couldn’t manage it. We asked for a couple yogurts (included on the continental breakfast) in the evening since I hadn’t eaten all day, and the staff ignored the request. Somehow we ended up spending $1000 USD on food alone for the two of us for a 4 night stay! Christmas Dinner was decent, but expect Michelin star prices for a fraction of the quality.
I wanted some over the counter medicine and they didn’t have any to sell and the nearest pharmacy was a 45 minute walk away. In this setting you’d expect the staff to go out of their way to help a guest over the Christmas holiday, traveling abroad with no car.
They could have easily made my experience a very positive one with more attentive service.

This was our second time we have stayed here and we love it just as much as the first time!
Bedrooms are absolutely gorgeous
Bathroom facilities are just fabulous
The decoration and interior is just superb - I love the detail. Its just fab, the detail is something to really look out for!
location is marvelous, we have such lovely walks to Salcombe.
Its just a real opportunity to get away from everyday life and enjoy the peace and quiet.
It was our minimoon and just a little card or a welcome back card or something nice would have gone a really long way. Its the little touches that make such difference.
We had booked a table for breakfast for both mornings at 9:00 via email and booked dinner on the Monday evening but that had never got picked up which was disappointing. Seems there maybe a lack of communication from reservations team because it also happened the first time we arrived last year.
The food - wow, its expensive! £32 for a chicken pie & mash (that's literally it) is disappointing and it wasn't the best tasting either! The roast dinner we had on the Sunday was so good but the second night meal was not great. A LOT of money for what it is, the hotel is a fab spot for walkers etc.. use that to your advantage, don't be this hard trying hotel when people are going to dinner in their walking gear. I personally think they have it all wrong!
SPA - Not great compared to last time. There were kids in and out of the sauna and steam (which we thought we could get away from the noise in the swimming pool but no such luck) I appreciate kids being in the pool but it was far from relaxing.

Beautiful views and facilities were great. It was never too busy but always had a good atmosphere.

Loved the location and the staff were very friendly. It was a fantastic restaurant and the room was very nice. It felt very homely and comfy. Decor was very nice and the upkeep of the main areas (lounge + restaurant) was very good.
Bedroom was nice (junior suite) but lacked amenities.
Our room wasn't cleaned over the 3 days we were there. This isn't acceptable. It was clean when we arrived of course but after that our room was untouched. No clean towels, no water, no bed made.
Also, cinema room was flooded which was frustrating. The outdoor pool is supposed to be heated but it was cold.
The service at the restaurant for breakfast was too slow on the last day. There were 4 tables in there with us and it took 40 mins to give us scrambled eggs after we ordered. I had to get up 3 times to ask.
Better amenities in the room needed (vanity mirror in bathroom etc)

Staff amazing in restaurant , gorgeous rooms, perfect location, amazing food, loved everything and ssheer tranquil luxury. Will be back for sure
Being picky . The spa wasn’t well manned, ran out of no water also needs attention outside area clearly not cleaned for a while , cobwebs everywhere. If I was spa manager I would not be happy with cleanliness outside.
4.5
Overall feel and design of interior. Facilities and great restaurant.
The room was small and built into the pitched roof, no wardrobe space for long dresses etc. bed felt small for a large double. Also shared hallway with another room who kept slamming the door and waking us. Not what we expect for £300 p.n.
4.5
Very welcoming and friendly staff - cannot fault them from the reception to the restaurant, the spa and the outdoor gara food truck, a real stand out part of the experience.
Location is picturesque, but remote.
4.5
bedroom and kitchen very good but on a few occasions there was a lot of noise in the room above like banging or moving furniture around, not just for minute or so but nearer 20 minutes on more than one occasion.
Decent soft pillows should be in the room from the start. it should not be necessary to order them from a menu.
4.5
Staff friendly, food very fine and tasty, location special, spa very good and overall a clean, well run cut above establishment. It is situated on the outskirts but that made it a real getaway (driving through narrow lanes..).
We stayed in suite nr 8 which unfortunately had obstructed view although was sold as "with view". It also lacked privacy as the people on the deck and some people at the restaurant could look straigh into our suite. I suggest you ask not to stay in 8 if you like to have unobstructed view and privacy.

Location and sea view
Outdoor pool
Gardens
Our room was next to the air conditioning units so quite noisy at night with the windows open
Understaffed I would say

Service was a bit slow but only a minor issue.

The place is beautiful out of this world nice and quiet.
The prices are just crazy expensive and it’s not except to trade like ridiculous prices on drinks and meals.

Views were stunning . Fabulous rooms. Food amazing.
Very expensive

The food was good but sadly that was the only good part
When we arrived we went to the Spa and instantly felt awkward as 1 boy and 2 girls were inappropriately kissing and touching. I say boy and girls as they were not older than 16 !! we left swiftly left the spa.
The room was Ok, really loud as the headboard was right next to the corridor.
- Leaky tap
- TV kept losing connection
- temp was broken and just stayed really hot all night.
We did complain to the staff at reception about youth brothel in the spa but she just thanked us for letting her know. Nothing else was said.
Reception when we handed in our keys didn’t ask how our stay was. Probably used to the bad feedback.

stunning property and room, staff were excellent so attentive, wonderful treatments from the spa ladies, food was fantastic, one to go to to get away from it all.

Beautiful location. Clean huge room with everything you would ever need. Dinner was amazing.
Unfortunately it rained the whole time we were there which meant there wasn't much to do and the indoor spa was really busy.
4.5
the location is outstanding firstly and the refurbishment has made this spot a luxury and very comfortable hideaway.. you dont have yo leave your accomodation for anything.. the spa is lovely….staff great and friendly too.. al over very efficient

not much we didnt like.. only thing we noticed were other guests not picking up their dog poo but thats not the hotels fault!
