A fabulous location and a great house to catch up with friends

The Whitehouse is in a fabulous location, right on the edge of town, near the river. There’s a couple of pubs close by, both serving excellent food. Joy, our host, was helpful and welcoming. We rented the whole of the house with a group of friends. The rooms are comfortable, the biggest room has a fabulous bathroom and dressing room while the other rooms have a small en-suite. The lounge and dining room are lovely comfortable areas to sit in. The kitchen is very well equipped, although we didn’t actually cook anything as we ate out all the time.

There is on street parking although there are parking restrictions. We had 4 cars and there were only 2 permits so it was a bit of juggling around to find a place to park. Fortunately there is a free car park a short walk away. It’s an old, characterful property so some of the en-suites were tiny and not easy to manoeuvre in. We also found unpleasant smells of smoke and cats in some parts of the house.

Superb

lLovely location, easy to find and we managed to find parking spaces along the road outside easily enough but it could be harder in the Summer, i dont know. Friendly welcome and Joy’s husband kindly carried our case up the stairs to room 4 at the top. It was clean and comfortable , nice view across to the river. We only stayed one night but would happily return. No complaints at all !

great location in Ross lovely views over the river. Comfy large rooms which were great value. No breakfast included but some good options nearby we tried The Royal which was delicious and great value

The rooms were in a lovely cozy house, great position to walk into the town and for a very good price!

Handy location, nice clean room and a very pleasant hostess !

We didn't have a breakfast, the room was lovely and clean. The en suite a little cramped, but we are getting on. The location is facing the river and very near the Town centre.

Too many small stairs for me and my wife .

Great little hotel in a great location.

Nice spacious room. Spotlessly clean. Great location. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. Very little to fault.

Would have been nice to be able to have breakfast in the hotel. Not too bad though. A few places very close by to go to.

Wonderful

A very friendly greeting from Joy. The whole place is spotless and very tastefully decorated and furnished. My room was very comfortable with quality fixtures and fittings. I would 100% recommend the Whitehouse.

Excellent position next to the river. Fine for a one night stay.

Location was great, room was clean and welcoming.

Wi-fi was almost non-existent and there were very few TV and radio channels on the Freesat TV. Perhaps the host could recommend good places for breakfast? Wetherspoons was fairly poor although reasonable value for money.

Disappointing

The location was good, close to the centre of town in an attractive building on a very pleasant street. It was easy to park outside.

Polyester sheets and strange lumpy “duvet” on the bed Long back hairs inside the bed (I told the owner who said they must have been the cleaner’s hairs) No soap or toiletries in the room Strong smell of smoke in the common parts

The Whitehouse is good for a one night stay, in my opinion, and the location was great.

The parking was great, immediately outside the property. Joy, the host was charming and very welcoming. We slept well. We had a really good meal at the Royal Hotel, just a short walk away, see 3 photos of views from outside terrace - can recommend!!

We paid £104 for a one night stay which did not include breakfast. The room was a little tired with miss-matched furniture and ‘artwork’, fake flowers (dust catchers) and a very strange tiny ‘wedge’ of a wardrobe with 2 old plastic hangers. We didn’t like the fact that ‘toiletries ‘ were advertised but this turned out to be a basket of family sized bottles on the stairwell which could be used/shared between guests! Some were half empty- which is not very hygienic! The ironing board kept on the top landing was burnt and ripped. The river ‘view’ was actually river ‘glimpses’ from across the road- but we did see swans! (See 2 photos from bedroom window). On the plus side it was kind of the host, Joy, to provide the toiletries and ironing board, but just not for us! We did sleep well.

Good location but expensive

Great location next to town & river. Quite expensive for room only but accept that UK accommodation is at the moment. Quiet location and nice views over the river. Owner is friendly.

We are non smokers and it smelt like the owners were smoking downstairs. Only really an issue on coming in and out of the house.

Guest house perfect for a short break in Ross on Wye.

Property is in the perfect location for visiting Ross on Wye. A lovely welcome from Joy and I felt at home immediately. My room was cosy and very comfortable with a view of the River Wye. Would recommend this guest house for any short break.

It was very convenient for walking into the Town centre and close to the river.

There was no soap in the bathroom and it was very small. The wifi was poor and no designated parking for guests. The owner was very nice and helpful but she was a smoker which permeated the whole building.
