Perfect if you’re biking or hiking through the area
Nice size rooms, lounge, kitchen and bathroom area
5 rooms so not having to share with too many people
Kitchen had good facilities but I got dinner and breakfast at the Midge bite which I would highly recommend
Shower was warm with good pressure
The bunkhouse is affiliated with the main hotel. Upon arrival I was told if I wanted dinner in the hotel I could only eat at 5:45 ‘before the hotel guests arrived’ even though it wasn’t busy. Slightly odd they don’t want us mixing with the hotel
The heating is set to come on when it ‘reaches below a certain temperature’. Well it was 12 degrees outside and didn’t come on 😅Hopefully they don’t set it too much lower that

The common area, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom were absolutely spotless. Facilities were also perfect.
Nothing.

Location was brilliant. Good base for doing the hills in the area. Found the bunkhouse very clean and the bed was comfortable enough. Shower was good and kitchen has plenty of cookware etc. It's got everything you need for an overnight.
No complaints everything was fine. Only thing I will say though is bring an extra pillow along with your own bedding, as the one supplied is quite soft, so unless you like 1 soft pillow to sleep with you probably won't be getting much sleep.

Location - it's the only place for miles and miles.
It is as described.
I struggled getting a response to pre-visit questions.
For no bedding, no ensuite I think it's overpriced.

you get what you pay for for, was very cheap, the location is great and the main house is stunning
im trying to stay considerate because if the cost but the room was uncomfortable, it felt like a prison room, cold, hard and unwelcoming. i couldn’t sleep in there as couldnt get comfortable. just a rug, a tv and some bed linen would make all the difference. also thicker curtains to keep the light out. these improvements would be cheap to implement and add vastly

The room was basic but fine, advisable to bring your own sleeping bag AND Towel
Though, the hotel manager was very good and lent me a towel
We should have been contacted to be told that there were no restaurant staff, as we had to drive 30 miles (48.28 km) to find somewhere to eat

Fantastic place to stop for a night, very quiet too!
If I'm near I would stop by again, it's a shame short staff meant no dinner but other than that it was a pleasent experience.
Didn't have dinner available but that was it.

Kitchen was well stocked and clean. TV was great addition
WiFi was poor. Intense smell of bleach to the point it gave us sore heads. Local drunk who made a tremendous amount of noise.

It does “what it says on the tin”! If you read it’s details properly. It is a bunkhouse.
It should have a working fridge for a self catering property.
Although as expected plain and comfortable it may need a basic freshen up soon to keep with other hostel equivalents.

The bunkhouse 'does what it says on the tin'

Warm shower, that's about it,the rest was a depressing standard of accommodation.
Where to begin ?Tired dated accommodation which the manager said was the staff quarters, actually felt sorry for his staff to be in that building, until I realised he'd charged me £37.50 for the same place.Wi Fi non existent unless you got into some particular spot, and then you only had about five minutes of access.Kitchen and cooker was squalid,in fact cooker was dangerous,no heat levels on switches and no idea if hob was on.Kitchen facilities, one teaspoon and that's your lot, manager said they got stolen and that's reason why you only had one,yep Basil Fawlty level of excuses. One tea towel,no oven gloves, asked what if I wanted to take something from the oven? You've got the tea towel lol.In the room I had an old mattress lying against a wall.No information relating to Wi Fi access or use of video/Tv,asked manager about this, received a condescending look and remark, what you need information on doing this?Dining table was unstable, once again a danger and easily rectified.I've used this bunkhouse before this visit and stayed in the other bunkhouse,it was functional was good value for money in an isolated area, thought I was staying in the same building, however on this occasion this wasn't acceptable.Attempted to inform manager of issues he needs to address, however as stated earlier didn't have a satisfactory response from him. What annoys me is paying for two nights in unsuitable accommodation and leaving after one night due to the sub-standard facilities I was staying in.Won't be back .

Really good price. Had free tea coffee. Great location for the mountains. Really clean. Liked being able to use the hotel bar next door too, conveniently close.
Only thing i would say is that it would be nice in a shower mat/towel was provided as no one tends to carry one of those around and there are multiple people using the shared bathroom. Nice not to have a wet floor

the main lodge was lovely and the manager very nice its a bit isolated but some people like that
there was no hot food as there was no kitchen staff
4.5 / 5.0
Very clean, with well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and helpful staff.
A bit odd staying there as a couple, as you are in single rooms. Good for solo travellers, though.
Having to bring a sleeping bag was also a bit of a nuisance, as we didn’t need them for the rest of our trip.

it was a good value.
They do not supply linens or towels. Because of CoVid, they are not supplying a breakfast option for bunkhouse guests.
