Beautiful place in the middle of the forrest/jungle. Cute eco rooms, amazing staff and great food in the hotel restaurant.
Maybe a bit more flexibility at breakfast (we wanted a banana juice, but couldnât change from the fruit juices offered). Location pretty far from everything and weather completely different than by the sea. Maybe it was just bad luck when we were there.

The hotel offers good value for money. We spent a week here and found it very relaxing, more so than anywhere else in Bali. They provide paid taxis and motorbikes for rent, and free afternoon tea with banana pancakes. The staff were kind, and most of the experience was pleasant.
The taxi service was problematic. On our first day, we waited in the rain for 30 minutes at the harbour with 20kg baggage, while many drivers tried to scam us, pretending to be from the hotel. Despite overpaying, other taxi services seemed like better options. On the last day, the hotel shuttle dropped us 200 metres from the harbour and did not assist with our baggage or boat tickets. Based on this, I do not recommend using the hotelâs taxi service.

Die Lage und das freundliche Personal waren super :?
Das Zimmer und alles aus Stoff hat sich immer leicht klamm angefĂźhlt aufgrund der hohen Luftfeuchtigkeit.

Great natural forest environment
Open bathroom
Great massages in your own room on request
Very friendly staff
Good food (also awesome dessert menu)
Good laundry service
Even during an electricity brake down on the entire island the only thing we noticed was wifi loss and âonlyâ regular coffee instead of perfectly steamed cappuccino (which was usually the case)
Very nice traditional bamboo huts, we loved the sound of the nature. Natural wake up alert of the local rooster.

The restaurant is always open
The restaurant menu is always the same. It would be great if the chef proposed some different dishes daily.
We were expecting something more from a 4 stars hotel. The room missed a drying rack, the TV and a small fridge.
We asked them to organize a snorkeling and a tour in the west of the Island. The snorkeling tour was the worst we had in Indonesia - It costed 1mln for 1 hr and a half in a boat with 20 ppl. In gili and bali we spent less for 2hrs with a private boat. They should negotiate a better service imo.
The west island tour has been made with a driver who only spoke a bit of english. He didn't explain us anything. It was like going around with a taxi.
The position is very far from everything. We went for a walk around it and we risked to be bitten twice by free dogs in the road.

This was the highlight of our trip so far in Bali!
The staff were amazing from the beginning. I was worried before I arrived that I was on a remote island and didnât have much cash out, but they allow you to put everything on the room bill and pay with card. Organised transfers to and from the port for us which were great. I loved the restaurant, still thinking about the Pasta dish and chocolate cake I had there. Our servers Ayu and Jagat were so friendly and amazing.
The huts were super cool and unique and had that slightly fancy feel despite being in the jungle. Pool was very well kept. I loved how eco-friendly the place was.
Lastly, we booked the west side tour with them and it was great. The driver was very skilled and helpful, and showed us all the sights, even offering to take cute pictures of us.
Only wish is that I stayed here longer.

very poor Wi-Fi connection

Staff very hospitable. Villas were placed admist the surrounding jungle. Beds were extra large and comfortable. Food was absolutely delicious. Easy to rent scooter and organise other forms of transport for tours. Would return here again.
Rooms are a bit humid and any items that were damp or wet had difficulty drying but that is due to the humidity and jungle climate.

The resort hotel sits in the middle of a lush green forest where the only sound youâll hear are the insects and chirping birds. It was very serene, peaceful and relaxing.
We were greeted by the very warm and friendly receptionist, Ayu. She has a very pleasant personality and always smiles. She gave us a short tour of the place while we wait for our room to be prepared(bec we arrived earlier than expected). While taking the tour, weâre greeted by so many butterflies!
The food was amazing! It tasted like we are eating at a 5 star restaurant. There are so many choices (from international to local cuisine). Everytime we eat, I had to thank them in their language- sangat lezat(very delicious). The fruits and vegetables was so fresh, it seems like they are growing it in their own backyard.
So if you want a very relaxing getaway, to commune with nature and eat fresh and healthy food. I would recommend this place 100%.

Good location up hills
A bit of travel on the bumpy road to get to hotel uphill. We stayed in unit 1, good climate up there. But we had to turn on the AC which was leaking water inside the apartment. We woke up to a big puddle of water in our room. A big lizard was living inside room as well, it also pooped on our bed and next day on the floor. Told staff and they cleaned it but did not remove the lizard. I used the mosquito net 2nd night to prevend lizard from pooping on bed. However the mosquito net was very dirty and never cleaned!!!
Disappointed with this service, also Unit 1 is very far from restaurant, lot of walking up and down stairs to get to resto and pool.

We loved everything about our stay. From the moment Wayan picked us up and brought us to paradise. The rooms were clean, private and located in a magnificent setting. Breakfast was very tasty and served by two friendly ladies, Trisna and Ayu. The hotel helped us in everything. We wandered for 4 days around Nusa Penida and realized how special our hotel really was - right in the middle of the jungle, somewhere most visitors wouldn't experience. And still centrally located to all the best spots. We would love to come back as soon as we can - this hotel is a real GEM!

Everything - the staff, scenery and food. I loved my stay here because the staff are so personable and willing to make your stay as best as possible. The scenery is tranquil and peaceful - perfect to detach from the busier parts of the island / Bali. Shoutout to Krisna for being really helpful in answering any questions I had! :)
Nothing it was all good. Only point to consider is that I would say you need a scooter or driver in order to make the most of being out and about as this resort is up in the hills.

The location, the property, and the people.
The hill view as promised was not really visible from the cottage assigned to me at No. 4

This hotel is in the center of the island and pretty high in elevation (so is noticeably cooler than the other parts of the island!) The staff are well trained, polite and friendly. There are possibilities for massages in the yoga center and a good size pool. The restaurant is pretty good, though a little more expensive than comparable hotels. The rooms are comfortable with nice gardens around.
The pool is pretty cold (understandable that it is not heated, with this being an eco-hotel). I think its a little bit too expensive for the facilities.

Mesare Resort is a beautiful resort hidden in the mountains of Nusa Penida, this makes it a quiet, beautiful and peaceful retreat where the temperature is a bit more pleasant than in some other places on the island. The staff is super nice and they really went out of their way to make our stay a pleasure: things like extra early breakfast because of early day trips were no issue at all. The room was cleaned every day, the bed was huge and one of the most comfy beds ever. The food was simply amazing, we had eaten in both local warungs and more 'westernized' restaurants on Bali, but the food here was among the best we've had during our entire vacation.
Since the resort is located slightly high up in the mountains and in the middle of the island, getting around is less convenient than staying in a more populated 'touristic' area. Don't expect to take a walk from your accommodation and visit a street full of bars/restaurants, you do need a taxi (or scooter) to get around and it will probably take +/- 30 mins. On the other hand, this means you are truly in a tranquil place and the restaurant is so good that you probably won't want to go somewhere else after you've tried it. We just went on full day trips to explore the island, after which it was nice to come back and unwind in a quiet location.
One other thing to keep in mind is that since the resort is located in a very natural environment, you will likely encounter more insects/animals than in some other places. This means there are birds and beautiful dragonflies and butterflies flying around, you'll hear the sound of the cute gecko's, but you may also encounter some less popular critters. This did not bother me, I actually went looking for them, but it's good to know if you are scared of insects. Staff is there to help and mosquito repellent is provided.
Highly recommended!
