About this house rental
You have found a nugget of pure gold! Just 13 km north of Alexandra lies rural Springvale. Travel up Golden Road and you're there: A country retreat, a modern house, a landscape in which you can lose yourself, yet find inspiration and peace.
This property ticks all the boxes. Modern, well-appointed and warm Maison D'Or is the ideal holiday home for your stay in Central Otago. Suitable for a large family or group of adults about to embark upon the famous Rail Trail, it is just 6 - 7 minutes from the Trail HQ at the western end of Springvale Road.
The region is famous for its long summer days: warmth and steady conditions allow a full exploration of the region's attractions. Mountain biking trails, four wheel drive adventures, windsurfing or canoeing on Butchers Dam, boating and water skiing on Lake Dunstan, 18 holes of golf (and another 9 hole course at Clyde), tennis at Pioneer Park are just a few of the local activities available.
In winter, the Alexandra Olympic-sized ice rink caters for ice hockey, curling and skating although if the Manorburn dam freezes then this huge area of ice offers an alternative and truly unique open-air skating experience.
A little further afield lie four of the South Island's major ski fields, all within a 1.5 hour commute. The property is within easy reach of the Queenstown airport and the unique alpine destination of the lakeside town itself.
The house is well-appointed with a nor’westerly aspect towards the Dunstan Mountains. Several ranch-sliders provide access from the open-plan kitchen / living area, the lounge and the master bedroom to the extensive patio. The internal access double garage allows for secure car and bicycle storage.
Special conditions:
Smoking allowed outside only
No pets
Note: Two unfenced ponds 50m from house. Young children must be supervised
Extras: Cleaning (included); Linen (included);

We loved our stay here, thank you so much. What breath tanking scenery there was! The house was well appointed with everything we could possibly need. Very clean on check in. We didn't really cook as we utilised excellent local restaurants, but the kitchen was very well stocked. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

We have returned to Maison D'Or three times. The house is gorgeous (many luxury touches, wonderfully comfy beds, beautiful bathrooms!), the location sensational (peaceful and private, yet so close to Alexandra and Clyde) and we love watching the sunrises/sunsets and birdlife over the vineyards. Danielle is an excellent host--clear and fair and unobtrusive. Hope to return another time, for a longer stay!

Wehad a wonderful stay in a beautiful landscape. The house was spacious and impeccable, eveything you need and more.
Bit the real star was the location. A short6 min drive from Clyde behind a hill overlooking a vineyard on the other side of the hill. It was tranquil and absolutely stuning. We could have stayed on the tertasse our entire stay and watched the surroundings.
Tip for anyone who stays: bring binoculars for the wildlife/animals (Pukekos, goats and pigs, and birds birds birds.

Such a nice property. Very warm and homely.
The owner was easy to get ahold of and very helpful with our questions about the property and how accessible it is for a wheelchair.
The house is wheelchair friendly all round. Something hard to find in a house now days.
Would definitely recommend this property all year round.

We arrived when it was dark, so it was incredible to wake up to the views of the mountains. Beautiful location and still easy to get to other places around. House was huge and warm - we loved the under floor heating in the bathroom! Highly recommend, we will be back.

We were well provided for in every area of the house. Generous space for just the two of us! Oven and washing machine etc easy to use. Lovely modern bathrooms. Tissues in bedroom appreciated. We enjoyed the panoramic views. Would have liked to have known boundary limits so that we could have a walk around ‘home’ when we had time there.

Check in time was later than most other accommodation, initially 1600pm them changed to 15.30pm. Location is quite rural (《8kms from Clyde)with a stunning backdrop of vineyards and hills. House was very clean and tidy will all of the amenities (and more) that we required.

We had a wonderful 3 nights stay at Maison D’Or, a large private home that catered for all our needs and that had wonderful views of golden Central Otago hills & vineyards. Danielle was excellent to deal with and we would certainly stay here again.

We loved this house, and it's lovely outlook over vines. It was easy to find, in a lovely quiet area. The house was very spacious for a group, with large rooms and a seperate lounge area.. It had everything we needed for our stay, and was spotlessly clean. Communication with the manager was super easy, and very friendly. We would love to come back and stay at this property again!
