Responsive and welcoming hosts, clean cottage with all necessary amenities, convenient location for sightseeing, friendly pets, enjoyable family atmosphere, great experience overall.

Scenic views, friendly and comfortable in communication owners. It is not about luxury but about pleasant impressions, peaceful time and general enjoyment.

We loved the location but too many buildings feeding off same solar panels. Power was spotty at best, generator very noisy and adjacent to cottage we were in.
We had NO hot water for 3 days with no communication by owner from initial advice.

Off the start, Courtney was so quick to respond to any questions I had prior to booking. She went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable with everything.
Courtney and Chris were both very welcoming when we arrived. One of the first things we noticed was how clean the cottage was. It had everything we needed in terms of dishes and the bed was very comfortable. There are also fans in every room, which was great for me who hates being hot.
It is located on Howe Island, which makes it a nice cottage getaway, but also close enough to Kingston and Gananoque for easy access to museums and restaurants. You do have to take a ferry to get to the island, but they run quite frequently so we never had issues.
Unfortunately their boat wasn't working when we were there, so we couldn't take advantage of their offer to take us around. We were also there in May, so a little cold for us to take advantage of the nearby water for a swim.
The dogs and cats that live there are very friendly and was a highlight for our 19 month old son.
The cottage is on a property with the owners' home and a couple of other cottages. So, if you are looking for something very isolated and private, this wouldn't be it. However, Courtney and Chris are not intrusive at all, and we always enjoyed chatting with them when we saw them. If we ever needed anything, Courtney was very quick to bring it over. Their son would also build our fire every night, which was great!
Overall we had a great experience and look forward to going back when we have a chance!

I can't say enough good things about this place. And the owners are TOP SHELF! We loved our stay so much that we are planning another trip in the Fall with friends. This time we went with our kids and they also loved the experience. Its quiet, its like you're on your own private island! You take a 3 car ferry to and from the island, it was quick and the longest wait was maybe 5 minutes. Cant wait to go back !!!!

Looking to get away from it all? This is THE place. Rain or shine. My favorite moment was having my morning coffee on the porch overlooking the St-Lawrence and the white swans and smelling the clean air! The owner, Chris and Courtney are wonderful and so down to earth. We felt really welcomed!

5 star true cottage experience. Went on hikes through forest . Besides watching the gracefulness of the swans, the ducks, cranes, frogs, baby turtle amongst other wildlife truly replaced TV. It is soooooo quiet. Chris,Courtney and their family(even the 4 legged ones) are a breath of fresh air to see such a wonderful family dynamics working together. This vacation brought back alot of great childhood memories which all children should experience. My fiance lives for a chance to fish within the 1st 24 hours caught 82 perch. We really enjoyed the short trip to a very friendly Gananoque exploring all the unique shops

Owners very friendly and interested in our stay at their cottage and ensuring that we had an enjoyable stay. Beautiful waterfront cottage! Loved the screened in porch to enjoy the early evenings playing family games. Very close to the Gananoque ferry and short drive to downtown. Our daughters in their early 20's also enjoyed the cottage for family time.

Our family of 5 with 2 small kids stayed for 3 nights in Oct and had a fantastic time. Chris and Courtney were always around and have created a wonderful cottage retreat that gave you a plethora of activities with no restrictions on what you want to do, besides what common courtesy dictates. I was given the chance to grill, kayak or fish whenever I want. Its size and location gave us the privacy and freedom to enjoy our small slice of Canada without worry. From towels to firewood, everything was provided for. A highlight of our trip was making Smores on a campfire and looking up at the stars, which are fabulous as no light come from the island or Gananoque to wash them out. We even had a visit from their pet dog. Definitely not something that could be done at most motels in gananoque. Trips to gananoque are not long at all as the ferry is quick and gananoque close. We spent a rainy day in nearby Kingston and planned on a trip to Ottawa or Montreal, but changed as we were having a great time just at the resort.
Just be sure to know what you're getting into before you visit. As it is on an island, there will be bugs and frogs galore. As long as doors are kept shut, bugs and mosquitoes were totally manageable. My kids found frogs the size of baseballs and loved it. Being powered by solar and wind, occasional power outages occur when energy isn't enough and before the generator kicks in, so bring a flashlight. We had 2 during our stay. Our biggest gripe was with the water. It smells of sulfur or heavy copper and isn't potable. This is common for most areas with groundwater and is in no way their fault. They do provide drinking water for you, but I would also recommend buying another extra litres a person for bathing, as the smell comes from the showers as well.
All in all, we had a fantastic time! The location and freedom do do what you want with everything already included (even utesils and firewood) made for an unforgettable vacation. Why anyone visiting the 1000 islands would choose a touristy motel over this is beyond me.
The sunsets from the dock alone is worth the trip. Just WOW!
