My wife and I plus another couple stayed at Haiku House for three nights in October 2023. The home is beautifully furnished, comfortable, and clean. It has a full kitchen plus washer and drier. Plus it is located on a quiet street in about 1/2 mile from the sea at Seal Harbor and the Acadia National Forest. Bar Harbor is only about a 10 minute drive away. Would definitely stay there again if we get back to Seal Harbor with a group of 4. Check in/Check out was very smooth.

Amazing house, beautifully decorated, Clean, everything you need for a lovely family trip. Walked to beach with little kids. Biked into Acadia with kids in tow, straight from the driveway. Would stay here again

Idealistic stay in Maine
The property, the host, the location - all amazing. Couldn't have been a better experience in Maine. If we ever return to the area, this stay will be out preferred choice.

Lovely Home, Great Location
The Haiku House was the perfect place to stay for our trip to Acadia. It is close to the park, as well as the amenities of Bar Harbor, but it is far enough away to be wonderfully quiet and relaxing. Thank you Jocelyn!

Haiku House Sept. 2021
This is a pretty house, very clean, beautiful artwork. The master bed is very low, just a side-note. It had all the needed amenities, upgraded kitchen, laundry room, convenient entry mudroom. Our favorite thing was the outdoor shower! And the invitation to write your own haiku in their guest book. My husband and I fully enjoyed Seal Harbor, Bar Harbor, and Acadia National Park.

Beautiful setting close to carriage roads
A lovely and stylish home, perfect for exploring Acadia. About 15-18 minutes to Bangor. You can walk to Jordan pond or rent bikes in Seal Harbor and bike there easily.

Great Size
The house was a great size for 6 adults, 1 toddler and 1 infant to interact comfortably. There is only 1 shower downstairs for guests, I wasn't able to depict this from the listing photos but it didn't cause any issue. The master has a claw foot tub which we didn't use, no shower. We stayed during a high-heat weather week and it was challenging to keep the house at a comfortable temperature without AC or ceiling fans. Overall the design of the house was attractive, the size was great and the location worked well for our stay.

Acadia Adventure
Great Location! We rented bikes from just down Jordan Pond road and bikes through the Carriage roads. We explored and did several great hikes. We enjoyed all of the books in the house library. Acadia is amazing. We would consider re-visiting again during the September fall season and staying at Haiku again!

Beautiful gateway to paradise
Haiku House provided an excellent location for easy access to the many harbors and trails of Mount Desert Island and NE Harbor. It was also the ideal destination for post-sight seeing relaxation in a lovely, spacious home.

Best Location on the Island
My husband and our friends recently stayed at Haiku House and it was wonderful. We've visited MDI multiple times, and Seal Harbor is our favorite - you truly cannot beat the location. It's extremely quiet, and you can be on the Park Loop Road in just a few minutes. The house was very well appointed. We had everything we needed (there were even coffee filters! dishwasher pods! spices! If you travel a lot, you know that is NOT always the case!) We enjoyed lounging on the comfortable couches after a long day of hiking, and I loved taking a super hot bath in the clawfoot tub in the evenings as well. The beds were great - comfortable, plenty of pillows, cotton sheets. They had lots of books and maps about Maine and Acadia which we found helpful - we were there for a quick visit so it was nice to not have to pack or purchase all of those things. We would stay here again with friends or when we return with our children. Thank you for such a memorable trip!

Wonderful oasis of calm and beauty in Acadia
We had 3 generations (grandchildren, parents, grandparents) staying at the Haiku house for 3 nights. The house was perfect for our group. Nicely appointed kitchen (we ate-in, every night) and lots of games to play after supper. We hope to return!

Great stay
Beautiful home in a nice location that is close to a nearby beach (Seal Harbor) as well as an Acadia entrance. Also a huge plus as the home came with bikes (bring your own helmets) and very easy access to the carriage roads! About 10-15 minute drive into downtown Bar Harbor. The kitchen was beautifully stocked and the beds were quite comfortable. No central AC and during the day the upstairs bedroom warmed up quite a bit (large fan available) but always cooled off nicely for sleep and so I would not consider this a problem at all. There were two distinct conversation areas with separate TVs and this allowed for a nice separation of kid and adult time when needed. Overall we very much enjoyed our stay and would recommend highly!

Great Spot for a Family
This wonderful home is in a great location, with access to everything but away from the crowds. The beach at the end of the street is a delight for kids. The home is bright, sunny and very comfortable and clean. The only improvements I can suggest are that the beds for adults are a little on the small side; we would have loved one of the bedrooms to have a king bed and having laundry soap on premise would have been nice.

Haiku House
The home is lovely and in my opinion better than the photos. The home is very clean. The kitchen is equipped with all the basics. We really enjoyed our time at the Haiku home. The road is quiet with little traffic. It was nice to wake each morning to the birds singing. The floor plan was nice as well. The large great room leads to the entryway and then just before the countertop in the kitchen. To your left bathroom, yellow room and lime green room with a common sitting area and tv just outside of green room. To the right you walk the length through the kitchen. Which is quite long and spacious. Then there is a staircase to master room and bath. The laundry was nice and convenient to have. Great proximity to Jordan Pond, Bar Harbor, Sand Beach, Asticou Gardens, etc. Great location where nothing is too far. Would definitely recommend and stay again!

Everything was very clean, and owner was very welcoming and responsive by email. We particularly enjoyed staying in a quieter location than Bar Harbor. Small touches like games for kids and hiking maps were appreciated.

Great house....with all the amenities in beautiful Acadia
Our stay at the Haiku House was perfect. Jocelyn provided us with all the information we could possibly need about the area from activities - to restaurants - to favorite spots. Our family of 6 was very comfortable - a well stocked updated kitchen, comfortable beds, tons of board games to keep the children entertained....and just a mile from the south entrance of Acadia. It is about a 20 minute drive from the bustling center of Bar Harbor - but we enjoyed getting away from all the traffic and tourists. I definitely recommend the Haiku house for anyone visiting the gorgeous island of Mount Desert.

Wonderful house in Seal Harbor
Our family spent 4 nights in the Haiku house. It was a wonderful experience. Clean and spacious with a kitchen as well stocked an any VRBO home we've stayed in. The neighborhood is quite and within walking distance to the harbor. We thought the real key feature to the home was its location! Just 2min off Park Loop road and 3min to Jordan Pond. Very easy access to the Carriage Roads as well. Jocelyn was a great host. She was attentive and thoughtful, checking up on us to make sure we had all that we needed and available to answer questions as they arose. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend the home to anyone!

Clean, modern home ideally located for exploring Acadia
Jocelyn met us and helped us get settled. The layout of the home is a little funky (likely the product of prior renovations). However, it is extremely clean, well lit, with brand-new appliances. The place was spotless. The home is located in the ideal location for day trips to the various locations around the island. 10 minutes to Bar Harbor, 25 minutes to southwest Harbor. Three minutes to Jordan pond.

A lovely 4 days getaway
For a spontaneous trip to the Acadia Nationalpark, we contacted Jocelyn to rent her house. It was a very good the decision! We stayed 3 nights with our children, and would have loved to stay longer. The house is very nice, with room enough for the whole family. The kitchen is great, with all utensils that you need to feel at home. We would definitely consider coming back!

Excellent Location, walking distance to the sea (Seal Harbor), close to great Restaurants, adjacent to the Loop Road and within 5 or 10 Minutes of many main attractions, this cottage was perfect for us with our small family and grandparents in tow. The house was wonderfully clean, well maintained and stocked with all the basics one could possibly need. It is very peacefull and quiet for those not wanting to overnight in the middle of the hustle and bustle that is Bar Harbor. Acadia is a jewel that I keep coming back to and I would definitely stay in Haiku House again. The owner was friendly and very helpful; going out of her way to help us in a jam. A little secret is a sweet little restaurant called The Burning Tree on the way to Bar Harbor. It is a bit pricey but an absolutely one of a kind experience with fantastic food and they were kind enough to prepare special dishes adjusted for a childs taste for our kids. I am still in awe of the entire experience. Can't wait to come back!

Perfect location for our family with kids
We stayed at the Haiku House four nights and five days. The house was very nice, clean and had many amenities that we used. The location was great for us as we went over the July 4th holiday. The Bar Harbor area was packed and there were quite a few people in Acadia National Park. It was great to be far enough away from Bar Harbor yet close enough for when we needed groceries, etc. It is maybe a 15 minute drive. Once of the entrances to the park is half a mile away and very convenient. The beach is in walking distance. There is a nice restaurant/bar and a takeout pizza place within walking distance as well (both were good). The house has a nice kitchen with all the things you need for making meals. We made lobster tails and a shrimp pasta type dish one night. There was plenty of space for the five of us. The washer and dryer were in good working order. There were plenty of towels for the bathrooms, etc. If I had to improve one thing, it might be the suggestion of a fan for the upstairs bedroom as it was hot two nights but that is literally it. The house is great. When we go back to Acadia at some point in the future, we will see if the Haiku House available first. Rent this place!

Very clean! Great location!
Haiku House offered a peaceful retreat after our busy sight-seeing days. The home was lovely, simply appointed, and very clean. Don't miss the Gorham Mountain hike! There is a great market in Northeast Harbor if you prefer not to drive to Bar Harbor for groceries. Would definitely stay again!

Haiku House - The Home of Tranquility
We had a great time staying at the Haiku house. This property is accurately depicted by the photos and as described in this listing. The first thing you will notice when walking in is how incredibly clean and well maintained this house is. The heater kept us cozy during the cool Acadia nights and the windows opened to keep the house cool during the day. We can tell that this house is well insulated because we could not even hear the worst snorer in the family in the room next door. The kids enjoyed the bunk beds, and we appreciated the property’s consideration for kids such as supplying the stepstool for them to reach the bathroom faucets. The kitchen is very spacious, and there were more than enough kitchenware for the average home chef. Just a tiny little recommendation would be to supply a rice cooker. I also wish that I had re-read the information and reviews on this listing before arriving to know where the extra large pot was. Lastly, I must stress how incredibly clean the kitchen and appliances are.
As for the ambiance, not enough can be said about how quiet and tranquil this place is. Coming from a big city, this was a great place to find our peace. The best part was to sit on the front deck during the cool nights and looking up to see the entire deep dark sky full of bright sparkling stars without any competing lights from a neighboring city. In the morning, we wake up to the sounds of birds singing.
The location of Seal Harbor is perfectly central to all the places we wanted to visit. We highly recommend the Lighthouse restaurant down the street on days you run out of time to cook at Haiku. They even made an exception to their closing time for us when they knew that we just arrived late in the night from a long 5-hour drive.
The owner, Jocelyn, is very responsive to emails and questions. She took the time to reach out to us on the day of our arrival to see if everything was alright. She sends and leaves useful information about the house and Acadia.
Overall, this place is truly a home away from home. We will surely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a clean peaceful place to get away.
