About this bed and breakfast
Pupukea Highlands sits above Waimea Bay and the magnificent beaches that are referred to as the “7 mile miracle” that makes up the North Shore of Oahu. Waiamea Bay is the birthplace of big wave surfing. Pipeline possesses the reputation of the worlds most beautiful and dangerous wave. Sunset beach is power surfing at its finest. These well known beaches are a very short drive from our beautiful properties. My family’s one acre properties that were once part of a large farm are now homes with banana and avocado trees, along with beautiful indigenous plants native to Hawaii. The 1000 foot elevation and five minute drive to the beaches provide a cool and serene alternative to the quicker paced, people watching and warmer Kamehameha Highway District. Along with Pipeline and Sunset Beach, Haleiwa makes up the final piece of the Triple Crown of Surfing. A seven mile drive takes you to the quaint former Plantation town of Haleiwa which boast eateries and shopping that have been featured on syndicated food and travel channels. Fishing, diving, zip lining, surfing, paddling, snorkeling, cycling, sailing, shark expeditions, bird watching and skydiving are just some of the activities that are available. The upstairs 2 bedroom unit has a tree house effect that offers a peek at Mount Kaala, the ocean, and the adjacent properties. This unit is designed for 5 but are expandable to accommodate 7 with newly remodeled kitchen and bath and a wraparound deck with large lanai perfect for entertaining and star gazing. All units have TV and Wi-Fi. 30 NIGHT BOOKINGS REQUIRED. INQUIRE FOR MORE DETAILS. Price depends on time of year, length of stay and number of guests.

It was lovely! We stayed busy!

We stayed here with our family of 5. Anne called once we had booked the property to enquire about how she could support our stay with bedding arrangements for the kids - we knew we were onto a winner! The accomodation is fresh and very well maintained with an elevated deck to take in the views and catch the breeze. The location is perfect, up the hill in a quiet area but only 5 minute drive to Foodland, Food Trucks and Waimea Bay Beach. We would stay here again when we next visit the North Shore! The kids were very excited to try the fresh bananas and lychees from the garden and we loved the North Shore ideas and suggestions from the owner.

First impression was how clean and fresh the place was when we entered. This was our fourth and final rental on our 5 week Hawaiian vacation and by far the best place we stayed at. It is a much nicer place than the photos showed. Located in a quiet residential area. Nice evening breeze cools the place down. Lots of space in the common rooms and bedrooms. Great communication with Annegret from booking to arrival! We had a late flight out and Alan offered us an extended stay on our departure day as the place was available. Really appreciated being able to stay and enjoy the beach one last time. Definitely stay here again should we find ourselves on Oahu. Mahalo to Annegret and Alan.

This was the perfect little place for our family of 3. The location was awesome, we love the area and it’s just a 4 minute drive to the beach. The house was tidy and uncluttered so easy to keep clean. The deck was a great place to hang out day or night. The breeze coming through the open windows and doors felt so good you didn’t even need the ceiling fans. The grounds were beautifully landscaped and well taken care of. We enjoyed the chickens and the occasional visit from one of the kitty cats. We also had fun chatting with the owner. She makes it a point to meet all her renters which we found to be surprisingly pleasant. She was so kind to share delicious avocados and bananas grown right on her property. We would highly recommend this property and hope to return again soon.

The apartment was as described in the advertisement. It is sufficiently large for 4-6 people. The equipment was adequate. The location is remote, therefore very quiet.
The large patio invites you to relax and enjoy the sunset.
Unfortunately, the key delivery did not work, because we did not get the necessary keycode for the key safe, the owner was not on site and no one else could give us access. After waiting 5 hours at the apartment and trying countless times to reach the owner, we had to spend the first night in the hotel, which cost us another 400USD. This was also the recommendation of VRBO, after we called there looking for help.
Unfortunately, even after our departure, the owner has not contacted us to clarify the problem.

Beautiful property and spacious home
The home looked better in person than in the pictures. It was a beautiful property and the home was spacious and the beds were comfortable. The owner was very responsive to questions. I'd certainly return again with our family. Incidentally we occupied both the bottom and top homes to accommodate our family of 10 and it was the ideal situation.

Upon our arrival the owner had no instructions or information written down anywhere. She relayed all info either over the phone or in person and quite frankly we are used to not seeing the owner when we rent. We expected to see a binder of information instead but there was none. She barely had enough sheets and towels for all and charged $2.00 for each load of laundry. The owner charged us for additional people but did not provide us with adequate supplies for the week (towels, blankets, pillows, etc). The beach chairs were old and broken. We shared a driveway with another tenant which included opening and closing a gate manually each time we left or returned. Beautiful home in the north shore area, but felt invaded on by the owners living on the property in such close proximity.

The apartment and location are as nice or even better than what you we expected from the listing and photos. Just be aware that this is the upstairs unit of a rental double. If both parties keep all windows open and make use of the generous outdoor living spaces as the climate demands, the tenants downstairs hear everything you say and do, and vice versa. Whatever TV show they watch you will listen to. If they run the dyer at 5 am you won't sleep. You get the picture... If that possible lack of privacy does not bother you, the place is picture perfect.

Wonderful stay
We very much enjoyed our stay in Pupukea. The unit is very well maintained and updated. It was also spacious even for our family of five. Everything was in great condition.
Alan and Anna were friendly hosts and since they were on site, easy to locate if needed. They were generous with use of their beach amenities.
The local grocery store is right down the hill which was very convenient as we typically ate breakfast in the unit and sometimes prepared lunches. And, of course, world class beaches were literally minutes away, as was the fun town of Haleiwa.
We opened windows for lovely breezes at night which kept us comfortable. The only downside is that with windows open in the early morning (still dark) you can hear the roosters, but perhaps that is to be expected! That being said, some nights we closed the windows and turned on the ceiling fan and the windows were pretty efficient as when closed, one couldn’t hear the roosters crowing.
At night it is very dark in the area which made for incredible viewing of the sky. Star gazing was terrific.
We would definitely recommend this place to our friends.

Peaceful Getaway
Host was VERY warm, easy going, and you can tell they cared. Place was very clean, well lit, large for 3 of us, and the views/deck is absolutely phenomenal.

Clean, spacious, comfortable
We absolutely loved the lanai, it’s huge! We were able to borrow boogie boards and beach chairs. Snorkeling gear also available. The apartment was decorated very nicely. WiFi was good, beds were comfortable, five minute drive to Foodland, beaches, and food trucks.
There’s a stovetop but no oven, no washer or dryer but a nice clothesline on the lanai. If you’re a blanket person pack your own.
We would 100% return! Thank you!

my favorite spot
I grew up in Hawaii and have returned often over the years to visit family and friends and do some surfing. as a result I've rented a lot of different properties around Oahu. this is by far my favorite. the property is embedded in a quiet and lush green setting with spectacular views - I found it so relaxing. The pictures don't really do justice to the view from the deck - the evening ritual was watching the sun set over Kaena point and then eating dinner on the deck. and yet in 5 or 10 minutes you can drive to any beach on the north shore. There was a good breeze every day which kept it cool and mosquito free the entire time.
Anne and Alan were wonderful hosts. They live in another house on the property and they were helpful and available but respectful of my privacy. I was there at the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak and they cheerfully did everything possible to accommodate my multiple change in travels plans.

North shore paradise
We had the best time visiting the North Shore and staying at Anna's rental was seamless. The place is beautiful and has a ocean view on clear days. The house was very clean but incredibly private even though she has other rentals on the property.
We adventured all over the island and it was so nice to come back to our own place and relax on the huge deck! There is a food store and food trucks right down the hill plus several towns within 10 minutes to have sit down meals. We enjoyed the ease of having breakfast in and then adventuring out for the rest of the day. Anna was so accommodating we borrowed her beach chairs and boogie boards so we didn't have to purchase any. We loved Turtle bay spent a day there as well as Hanauma Bay for snorkeling. We can't wait to come back and would not hesitate to stay at this rental again!

We had a wonderful time. Wish we could of stayed longer. We enjoyed our chats with Alan and the other guests. We were invited to thanksgiving dinner...just hours after arriving. Ohona- is truly what we experienced!
The sunsets were so beautiful from the deck. Also, the fresh bananas and avocado were an unexpected treat!

This place is amazing!!!
My girlfriend and I rented a VRBO and for various reasons it didn’t work. We were stuck in Hawaii without a place to stay. I sent out emails to find another and within minutes I received a phone call from the owner of this property, Anne.
She was so accommodating and nice and let us immediately rent her property. Upon our arrival we were blown away with the location and the views.
This place has everything you need and is centrally located. Jaque their neighbor greeted us with fresh bananas and was very friendly and informative about where to eat, activities etc.
We both can’t wait to come back here and bring our family .

Beautiful Home!
My family and I enjoyed our stay in your beautiful property! The home was very clean and the layout was as described. We had everything we needed and more.
Jock the caretaker was very helpful, accommodating and respectful. He gave us a lot of the delicious apple bananas from the owner's backyard and he even gave my family a personal tour to see the turtles. It was one of our favorite memories on the island.
Thank you Anne and Allan,
The Florendos

Terrible and stressful experience :(
For many years I’ve been renting vacation properties all over the globe and have never had such a negative experience as this. Our family was excited to vacation in Hawaii for my oldest child’s college graduation. I chose this location as it is close to where my daughter lives and close to the beach. We arrive and began to look for the check in sheet or instructions for the WiFi, pretty much looking for any information about the amenities listed on the ad there was nothing. We initially had reserved the rental for four guests then at the last minute my nephew decided to come too making it 5 people. As you can see it sleeps up to 6 people. The next day I receive a text from the owner stating that there will be an additional charge per day for the additional guest. She said it was stated in the contract...it was NOT! She continued to harass me through text and phone calls until I agreed to pay her the additional monies in cash, reluctantly I did. The last day we were there we returned the rental to its original state in which we found it, left all the used towels to the shower swept well washed and put away all dishes swept the floor and took pictures in case the there was some dispute as to the level of cleanliness we left her rental in. I receive a text after we leave stating “ what happen to most of the towels? Did you clean a car”? Still harassing me. A few days later I looked at my account and she has cashed my security deposit without explanation whatsoever. Three days later she sends an email stating we had damaged her mattress and stated it was “unauthorized removal of mattress protector”. We, of course removed nothing from any of the beds as we had no instructions to do so. Nor were there any stains or damage on the sheets. The invoice she generated didn’t look legitimate and the photos and damage I believe was from a previous renter.
