Perfect for a quick stay in Eastport. Close to town, but also feels away from it all and an amazing view. Mostly renovated, clean and comfortable. A great stay!

I’ve been visiting Maine off and on for the last 14 years and this house was the best. Solitude but 5 minutes to the store. Great views, quiet and relaxing. Loved it!

The house had the perfect combination of peaceful serenity and local charm. Waking up to the sunrise over the water was something I looked forward to each day. The location is a little distance from some of the typical Maine tourist spots, but we enjoyed the drives!

This is a very unusual situation, but I think it reflects well on the hosts. This property is located in a fairly remote corner of the U.S., and lodging choices are pretty limited. While just a few hours away from the property, the host called with bad news -- the preceding guests had seriously trashed the property, and it was not yet ready to occupy.
So the hosts offered us a comparable property less than a mile away, freed of charge, while the one we'd registered for was prepared. We enjoyed spectacular views, a gorgeous sunset, and a nice dinner with local friends that night; the next morning we shifted seamlessly to the intended property.
Any damage was undetectable. The setting was incomparably private, peaceful, and the view of Passamaquoddy Bay was exquisite. The private, rocky beach afforded a pleasant couple of hours of wandering at low tide. Bedding and bath linens were clean and in adequate supply. Living area, kitchen and bedrooms were all clean, spacious, and well-supplied. We would unhesitatingly recommend this property and these hosts to anyone.

Our destination was the Eastern most part of the US... this house didn't disappoint - many pieces of sea glass were found daily on the private beach... and we were able to drive to all of our choice destinations.

A lovely respite with beautiful bay view. We enjoyed watching the sunrise over the water. The house is close to Eastport, and had everything we needed. Darcey was very helpful and easy to communicate with.

Beautiful home in a very peaceful, scenic oceanview setting. The colors in the home are very calming and the decor perfect. Very handy to in town Eastport, yet far enough away from all the hustle and bustle. Beautiful sunrises from the living room. If you walk down the driveway, you can see beautiful sunsets as well. The home is spacious and two bedrooms and living room have views of the water. We had a very relaxing week here, and found quite a few treasures, while walking the beach. We loved how close it was to intown Eastport and all the restaurants and shops. The only things we would suggest, would be to supply pot holders, more than just one hand towel, and to vacuum up the cobwebs up in the corners of the rooms (a couple of them had spiders in them, that we took care of), and to vacuum or clean out inside the window sills. When we opened the windows, they were filled with dirt. Also, a holder for the toilet brush would be nice, it was just laying inside the cabinet under the sink. Again, though, a very beautiful relaxing spot, with plenty of room for a family. It was great sitting out on the deck, watching the boats go by, and the tides go in and out. A very beautiful piece of heaven, for sure. We definitely would go back. Also, everyone was so very friendly, in town.

We enjoyed your lovely cottage so much. Everything was clean and nicely appointed. Eastport was such a fun town with really friendly people. We spent a lot of time in Lubec and on Campobello Island.A small request to the caretaker was readily fulfilled. The cottage is so private but readily accessible to everything. As we were loading the car to leave a doe and her fawn emerged from the woods. Magical! Thank you for a wonderful stay.

We stayed here for the 2nd part of a two week vacation, the first part being in NYC - this was the PERFECT place to relax after level of pace/people/noise. The house is roomy and comfortable, has great views of the beach and water, and is in a very quiet location just 10-45min drives from shopping, restaurants, and sites. We went into Eastport daily (less than 10m drive) for restaurants and shopping, over to Campobello Island, hiking at Shackford Head state park, up Hwy 1, etc. - all conveniently close. We cooked many meals in - the IGA was well stocked and the kitchen had all the essential gear. Mostly we spent walking along the shore at low tide and watching the birds and boats from the adirondacks outside or the huge windows inside. Even the stormy days were entertaining with the great view! Highly recommend staying here!

Darcey and Kevin have a gem of a property. You can see from the pictures (and it's exactly as pictured) that the house is very nicely decorated-very nice wall colors and furniture throughout. The kitchen has everything you'll need to prepare food if you're not enjoying one of the restaurants in Eastport. We had fun visiting the art galleries, taking in the musical offerings and going on day trips-there's lots to see and do in Eastport and nearby Lubec. We took the ferry from Lubec to Campobello Island-that was one of the highlights of the trip!! But most of all, we enjoyed relaxing on the deck looking out at the water. Best view ever!!!
Darcey and Kevin were excellent hosts-very easy to communicate with although we had no problems. I highly recommend this property and will be back.

A perfect place to get away- great home, amazing views, quiet, fantastic huge beach for exploring and finding tons of sea glass, little crabs and other 'treasures'- water shoes were definitely used. Had a deer in the front yard one evening and an eagle sat out on a rock at low tide. All had a great time! Owner was super with communication!! Eastport is a beautiful little town with great pier fishing!

Our 2 and 4 year old kids had a wonderful time exploring the rocky beach all week long. Very private area but close to town. Awesome vacation!

Do you think the owners get tired of 5* reviews?
Probably not. In any event, here’s another one. The house and the setting were exactly as advertised. Private (rocky) beach with easy access. The house was extremely well equipped and we lacked for nothing. Daily breakfast and several dinners on the deck. Internet more than fine. You can work from here. Of course, that negates the whole concept of vacation. We had a minor problem and the caretakers were immediately on the case. Thanks to Michael G. for recommending kayaks. That worked great and we kayaked every day. Going at high tide reduces markedly the distance you will need to shlep the kayaks over the beach. Lots of nearby hiking. The coastal trail in Quoddy Head State Park, a reasonable drive away, had wonderful views, reminiscent of the Northern California coast. On the other hand, maybe more rocks, roots, boulders and mud than any other trail we’ve been on. But now let’s talk about food. You should know that there are essentially no restaurants in Eastport open on Mondays or Tuesdays. Only a single one open on Wednesday when there was a 1 ½ hr wait for food (after we were seated). They were also out of lobster and scallops. There’s a nearby wood fired pizza place. We called the week before to confirm. No problem – except that suddenly on their website they were on vacation the following week when we were there. Bottom line: The IGA will be your friend. All in all, a wonderful, restful week for 2 adults and two young adult children. P.S. Sea urchins seem gone and only saw a single crab. Maybe they’re away on holiday.

A wonderful house overlooking the bay
This house is just beautiful inside, with wonderful views, comfortable bedrooms, living room overlooking the bay, and beautiful paintings in several rooms. I enjoyed meandering on the beach and swimming in the bay. We also enjoyed Eastport, good local restaurants for seafood, Lubec and West Quoddy LIghthouse (which is classic New England) and trails.

Wonderful!
When we arrived at the location, the pictures did not do the home and the surrounding view justice. The house was immaculate, well decorated and fully stocked. Everything we needed for comfort and convenience was available and easily accessible. The beachfront was stunning, and the privacy was just right. Our children who are mid and late teens already are asking..."when are we going back?"

Beautiful, Secluded Vacation Spot
This was our second stay at this property and we love it. We have found both the owners and local caretakers extremely responsive if any issues arise, however when on this property you feel as you have the whole beach and area to yourself. It is pristine in every way!

Spent a wonderful week at this house located on Carlow Island, on the outskirts of Eastport. House was the perfect size for our family of four, very clean, and had everything we needed for our stay. House was easy to find following the directions, and check in was no problem. Do make sure you stop and stock up on groceries on the way in, as hours are limited with stores in the area. Took a few minutes to figure out the cable TV, but was not a problem after figuring which buttons to press. Everyone loved the views of the bay and Deer Island, and we enjoyed evening walks on the beach. My boys made friends with the neighbors dogs who got their walk in the evening also, and looked forward to seeing them each day.. Please take note that it is a rocky beach, as are most beaches in downeast Maine. House is conveniently located to several attractions and activities, provided you don't mind driving a little. Eastport is quiet, but we managed to catch some mackerel at the breakwater after a local lent us his spare rods, stocked up on mustard at Rayes, and hiked at Shackford State Park. We visited West Quoddy lighthouse in Lubec, explored the coastal trail, and also hiked the bold coast trail in Cutler, which provides excellent views of the rocky Maine coastline. Boyden Lake in Perry is 15 minutes away, and provides good bass fishing along the shore, and has a boat ramp. One son wanted a sandy beach, so we spent a day at Roque Bluffs State Park near Machias, about an hour away. Also visited St Croix National Historic Site near Calais on rt 1. And if one really doesn't mind driving, Acadia National Park is a little over two hours away, and we were able to see most of the major attractions in one long day. Definitely try Quoddy Bay Lobster(check the hours), the Friendly Restaurant, and do not miss the Polar Treat(the lobster rolls might surprise you!). Overall, we loved our vacation in Eastport and wouldn't hesitate to stay at this house again!

We wanted a private waterfront property close to interesting sites and this house and the area exceeded our expectations. We would have stayed another week if it wasn’t booked. We rented kayaks from Sunrise Canoe and Kayak and they were delivered with life jackets and oars. Picked up with no hassle. We kayaked every day, exploring different coves and checking out the amazing sea life. I would recommend good water shoes because low tide is extremely muddy and rocky. But if your children enjoy sea life and don’t mind wading into shallow cold water they will see sea urchins, crabs and other creatures. We made day trips to Reversing Falls and Quoddy Head state parks, and both were unique spots. If you aren’t afraid of a challenging hike, try the Coastal Trail at Quoddy Head, but be ready to climb rocks and hop over some muddy spots to see some lovely coastline. The town is very quiet, and things close early - the grocery store at 7 and the best lobster place is only open Wednesday-Saturday until 6. Bring a meal if you are arriving late. This isn’t a place where you can easily get delivery. The house was well equipped with kitchen gear and linens. The cable and WiFi worked fine for us. The bathrooms were like new. We had s’mores around the fire, grilled out and watched movies on the deck with our projector and laughed as loud as we wanted with no one around nearby. This is a great refuge during a pandemic. My wife even attended a board meeting from the deck. All three of my teenagers suggested that we come back. So if you are looking for a typical sandy beach crowded with vacationers, this is not the place. But if you love the outdoors and enjoy a private refuge with gorgeous sunrises, this is the place. Our only regret was we didn’t get to visit Campobello Island because of the Canadian quarantine.

Amazing!
My family and I absolutely loved this property. It was very clean, well organized, and the homeowners had everything you could possibly need. Our children were able to go down to the beach and find treasures every single day. It was peaceful and the view of the ocean from the living room was wonderful. The owners were so kind and helpful and responded quickly to any communications. Wouldn't have changed a thing. Thank you so much for everything!

Not what we expected
The house was nice and clean and well equipped.. The beach was a total disappointment all rocky and water as well. Should of said you cannot go in water and you need good hikers / shoes to walk around on beach. Path to get down to beach was steep. Would be difficult for elderly prople. Have lived in Maine for 25 years but have never been to Down East Maine or past Bangor. When we go to coast we go to Popham where it's all sand and waves and you go in water. Had no idea that it was going to be all rocky or I never would have vacationed here. Advertised smart device which was Roku for tv but it wasn't set up and spent alot of time on phone trying to set it up. In property guide it says cable TV but when we finally hooked that up no channels were available so no tv at all to watch when you want to wind down at night or when it rained. Went in to town to go fishing at breakwater but cruise ship just parks there and leaves once every couple of weeks so we didn't go fishing there as we read in reviews as others did and said it was fun. So we decided to go to Quoddy lobster which everyone said was the best in the reviews but unfortunately they were closed Sunday through Tuesday. We were so looking forward to this vacation and it was not what we expected. We packed up and left Sunday and drove 4 hours back home. Stayed there one night got there Saturday at 5pm and left Sunday afternoon. Sent owner a message to tell them we left and it was not what we expected at all and she sent back a message saying she was sorry the house wasn't up to my standards but we thought the house was nice and she was just unhappy to hear it. She said that her parents tried to set up Roku before we got there and they couldn't do it either but she could have walked me through it. I was on phone with Roku for over an hour should have been set up before we arrived. Left the house just the way we got it took care of everything as they requested. Clean and dishes done trash taken out. It was nothing like we were expecting as we went for private beach as we unpacked a woman was down on beach screaming at her dogs but that can happen. Just a disappointment. If you want to vacation in a nice house and do day trips then it would be a good place to go but not for the beach unless you like the rocky coastline. The people who take care of the house did a great job it was so clean and the linens were nice it was also well equipped. Just nothing seemed to go right since we arrived there.

A Perfect Spot on the Ocean
What a wonderful place a have a vacation. The house is bright, warm, and welcoming. It greets you with a beach feel. The ocean view is wonderful as is the smell of the salty air.
Everything you could possibly need is provided: complete kitchen, comfortable linens, plenty of towels, camp chairs for the beach, and window fans if needed.
It would be easy to just stay put enjoying the house and walking the private beach finding sea glass and sea urchins.
However there is plenty to do if you leave the house. Eastport has cute shops and a variety of places to eat. St. Stephens, St. Andrews, and Campobello are wonderful day trips. Don’t forget your passport. And don’t forget the West Quoddy Head Light in Lubec and the Reversing Falls in Pembroke.
You could not find a better place to spent your vacation on the Downeast Maine coast. Darcy and Kevin truly have a gem. We would love to return next summer.

Peaceful and relaxing
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Darcey and Kevin’s house in Eastport. The home is beautifully decorated and extremely well-stocked. The house is up a small hill from an expansive beach area that, during the week of our visit, was practically private. We loved to walk the beach at low tide looking for sea urchins and beach glass. Eastport is a fun town to explore with an active waterfront. I highly recommend breakfast in the deck at the WaCo
Diner...such a great view. We had the best lobster rolls and scallop with bacon rolls at Quoddy Lobster with a bonus view of finback whales swimming by in the bay. Lots to do in the area. One of our favorites was Kingsbrae Gardens in Saint Andrews, New Brunswick, Canada.
We also give a shout out to Terry and Peter, the caretakers. Not only do they keep the place immaculate but, when the coffee maker went kaput, they brought over a replacement within and hour. Thank you!
Highly recommend this house and destination for a relaxing a land peaceful vacation.

Relaxing vacation
Would definitely stay here again. Only slight issue was that we went up during a rare heat wave. But the homeowners had fans that worked out very nice. Small town perfect for walking, eating, and taking pics. We fell in love with Rayes Mustard. Never gave much thought to mustard til our stay in Eastport. If you have children they will love exploring the private beach. My boys had the time of their lives finding sea creatures. And I had a very enjoyable looking at stars. Haven't seen the sky that clear of light pollution in a very long time.

Everything We Wanted and More!
What a wonderful experience staying at this cottage. The ocean, sky, quiet, seclusion, nature, tranquility. We did not want to leave. The cottage is one of the nicest places we have ever rented. Super clean, comfortable; all the kitchen and bathroom basics you need, it's absolutely just right. This truly is an area for nature lovers, we saw whales both on a sightseeing trip, and then all week off the breakwall at Eastport. There were harbor seals, sea lions, loons, deer, bald eagles, porcupine (in the driveway!), and the best seafood in the world! We also fished the breakwall for mackerel at the appropriate tide, such fun and camaraderie with the locals to be had! If you want the tourist experience, go to Bar Harbor. If you want true Downeast Maine experience, you need to visit this place! And, by all means, do not miss the Bold Coast hikes while you are here!!

Fantastic cottage and location
We spent a marvelous week in Eastport. The cottage is clean, uncluttered, full of light, and close to the water. Our three-year-old chased crabs and eels on the beach at low tide, and looked for sea urchin shells at high tide. We grilled, enjoyed sunrises and sunsets, and rested up. Couldn't ask for a better week Down East.

Everything was just as perfect as it looks in the pictures. Clean, comfy, and absolutely gorgeous!
We had the most amazing stay! It was the perfect spot for our busy family of 6 to get away and relax. From the deck, we spotted a deer with her 2 babies, 5 seals, and an endless supply of sea urchins, crabs, and other ocean life. There is what seems to be an endless beach to explore, especially at low tide, which is so private and quiet you feel like you are in your own little piece of Heaven. Not that you will ever want to leave, but there is also lots of unique natural areas in the area that are also worth checking out. I can not wait to return with my family!

Fantastic
Beautiful home, had all the necessities that we needed. Didn’t have to bring anything. Location was beautiful and quiet. If you want to get away from it all this is the place. The hosts were accommodating and nice. I have stayed in many homes and hotels throughout the country and Europe and I would rate it up there with the best!
