Tudo bem equipado e limpo
Localização horrível, carro obrigatório…
6.0

The apartment was clean.
The location is horrible: 30 min walk from the nearest bus stop, behind a electricity and rock factory, streetdogs barking 24/7, 50€ per night is expensive for this place

A secluded location with a great little apartment. Well thought through with everything you need.
It was difficult to find, Google took me up a dead end. The owner was trying to WhatsApp me to meet, but I was driving and didn't realise. The road was poor but drivable.

The location is really pleasant, but much more comfortable if you have a rented car or scooter. Otherwise, you have to commute there by bus and walk around a kilometer and a half from the bus station (however, I need to say that the walk is really pleasant as it goes throug the small village/agro area; but also through the quarry which is not really disturbing, but is small unpleasant part)

nice sweet place. Everything was there.
the place where it was located. It‘s at the end of a really rough road and you definitely need a car!

Super quiet, remote place in a rural walley between Funchal and Camara los Lobos. Very kind host.

Secure, secluded bungalo in the valley. Private kitchen (no oven) and private bathroom. TV, shared patio surrounded by terraced hills above. Quiet other than lots of frogs croaking in the river nearby:)
Orlando, the host, is very friendly and helpful-use Google translate if you don't speak Portuguese.
He contacted me via whatsapp to confirm check-in and gave me directions to the accommodation (a little hard to find otherwise)
Beautiful lavada walk with panoramic views of valley/terraces just above the accommodation (keep going up outdoor staircase). I think there is another levada walk on the other side of the road/valley (starting at the place Orlando directs you to park) but I didn't make it to that one.
A little out of the way from town and somewhat industrial feel with the quarry but also beautiful with surrounding terraced valley. This is nice at the end of a day in busy funchal if you like to be in nature and away from the buzz of the city, but if you want to be in the heart of town or don't have a car, you are likely not going to appreciate this location.
Very narrow road on the way to the rental that goes past a quarry. There is minimal traffic so just go slowly and it won't be a problem (I had a Fiat Panda and managed fine for a week).
I had no windows in the front of the unit (one in bathroom and one in kitchen but no light from these) so kept the door open to let the light in.
Can hear the working quarry at times but didn't bother me.
Overall good price for private unit and nice to be able to cook. Definitely want a car of your own.

I like the peace I could have there and how helpful was the owner.
Next to the accommodation is big fabric which can be enjoying if you planning to stay during the day around the house. It wasn't big deal for me because I was always out walking.

The host Orlando was a really sweet guy - he waited for our late arrival due to the plane landing late and met us at the gate at 11pm, we were so grateful. He was really instructive about the area and how to get around the local shortcuts and see some curious spots - he only spoke Portuguese but was really lovely and helpful and even dished us up some of the fruit he grows on his land. The location although quite far from town was surrounded by a very dramatic valley and it was fun wandering around the banana farms and the system of aqueducts that's nearby, straddling the very steep cliffs - you can find a really cool walk here, just climb up the hill behind the place.
It was really inconvenient to get to, sadly, you should def have a car to stay here - no nearby bus-stop, taxis wouldn't even come to pick us up, we had to walk about 20-30 mins up the road to the nearest bar to get collected. Luckily Orlando gave us a lift at one point. But yeah... Car is crucial and you'll be fine.

Very amazing super clean new apartment, fully equiped kitchen, I felt like home ☺️
The landlord doesn’t speak English so prepare google translate or few words in portuguese :)

The location is perfect, make you walk alot. It is perfect location for Retreat, just get a way from town and live in nature. The house is facing Mountains with perfect view. All around is banana trees :) The owner is just perfect, he does his best to communicate with you. Please use Google translator for communicating in portugies with him. He picked me up from airport and dropped me in bus station for coming back. If you rent a car, it might be much comfortable, specially if you are Lazy Person! But walking in the nature just make you feel good, so refreshing. In 6 days I walked almost 85 km
Nothing serious!

It was clean.
Communication with the host is most of my problem with the accommodation. I wanted to change because my gf decided to join me. To add a second person to the same booking the price more than doubled. How can this be possible? As a result I tried to modify it, (though it was 3 days before the booking). He would wait almost two days to respond and then only to questions he wanted to. I attempted to change and cancel and he was slow and said "contact booking" and I ended up doing it at the accommodation where he was very unfriendly. To his credit he has the booking policy as very strict and he held to that. Most people on the island understand Spanish or English, he's an old man who doesn't speak anything but Portuguese, which is fair, but he can't be bothered to use translate on his phone, though he has it one his phone and occasionally uses it. He ended up changing my booking after multiple long conversations with customer service but charging me an extra 37.5% more per night. And seemed to do that begrudgingly. I don't believe he should be in hospitality.
The location is not correct on booking.com, but it is correct if you look it up on google maps. Most people probably want a car. I took a bus and then walked 2 or 3km to get to it, some of which was up hills. The views are of a gravel & cement quarry down below.
There were pans and utensils, but not even salt to cook with.
I was meant to get the 2 bedroom apartment and he gave me the one-bedroom. It didn't bother me, but that's not what the listing said.

Nice quiet location. A short drive from either Funchal or Canaria De Lobos, where there are many places to eat. The owner updated me frequently with local events and was very helpful.
Bumpy access road.

Brilliant mountain views, fresh avocados and banana growing in the garden as well as custard apples and the like. The landlord had a willingness to try to sort out our problems and had good local knowledge. It is a very remote property, which suited us, with the nearest cafe/bar and public transport (bus) links being 2km away. The property is situated in a valley, so when we were there in January the sun disappeared at around 16:00hrs. It was a good base for a fantastic adventure holiday. I have added the location of the property to Google maps as it is hard to find.
Directions: take the Caminho de ribeira dos Socorridos right up to the bridge just before the hydro-electric station. It is an unmade road past the quarry, with sugarcane on the left and banana on the right. The entrance to the property is via steps to the right of the bridge. Don't go across the bridge. Steps to left of property.
The electricity supply was very hit or miss. You had to be very careful how much load you put on the system. Also the plumbing at the left side of the property had some problems and the toilet overflowed 2 or 3 times while we were there. There was an uneven water pressure throughout the property.
The property is located close to a hydroelectric station and the was some operational noise from that industry. We got used to it and I did not find it over intrusive, although it did wake up my companion sometimes, when it started up early in the morning.
There are no windows in the bedrooms, the living room had a traditional shuttered window. The doors open straight onto the private untiled concrete verandha.
The landlord had double booked the property and for the first 3 days we had to share with an Italian man. Fortunately we got on OK. I did speak to your customer services but they were unable to help us. Initially the landlord expected us to share a single double bed room. As we are not a homosexual couple, that was not going to happen. It did inconvenience us as we had no living room for the first 3 days, ( I anticipate a pro rata refund for that part of our stay) and did not have the complete privacy we had expected. The Italian found somewhere to stay after day 3.
The landlord only spoke Portuguese which made communication difficult, although he brought his daughter in soon after we arrived and she did speak English.
When you book this property you need to be certain that you have sole use if that is what you want. The property comprises 2 bedrooms 1 living room. The master bedroom has an ensuite toilet/shower and kitchenette. The living room has the main kitchen, studio style. There is a separate toilet/shower behind the living room. All rooms can interconnect. Make sure you have the keys!

I felt cheated because the location is very danger, horrible way, place very far away of all and the guy strange
I did not like nothing
