There are many things to like about the homestay. As mentioned in other reviews, it feels special because it's right in the middle of a working fishing village.
After a few days of motorbiking around the island, it was actually quite magical coming back to the homestay on near empty roads through the forest, and seeing the fishing village from the road. But it is still about a 30min drive from the centre.
Our room had good working AC; the flooring also had small spaces between the floorboards which meant you could see the water the homestay is built on (that was quite cool). The shared showers and toilets were always clean and we appreciated the fridge and drying rack provided. Our particular room only had a window facing internally. There's 1 room available with a window facing the water.
We mentioned which speedboat we were on and we were happily surprised to be picked up.
The young man running the homestay isn't very proactive. He's nice but we found it slightly odd we had to ask for everything we needed in a very proactive way. His wife and son are lovely.
And as a consequence of staying at a working fishing village, the villagers and fishermen wake up pretty early. You'll start hearing boat motors from 6am.

interesting to be in the hub of the village. not a lot to do but we just wanted to relax and watch the world go by so perfect for that.
shame we could not sit out of the back of the building as there was probably more to see as it faced other houses and people. but that would only be a plus and was not a negative

Great location right on the pier. Could see the water below through gaps in the floorboards (just big enough for a phone if you were very unlucky). Good breakfast. Shared bathrooms are big and clean.
No window to see outside, just into the hallway.
