About this house rental
Challenge Cottage is an appealing period holiday cottage close to Arundel Castle and the centre of town which sleeps 2-4 guests. The cottage is bursting with all the charm of a genuine 18th century cottage but has been carefully refurbished to be both pretty and comfortable.
Guests will enjoy the attractive living room with electric wood burner and comfy seating for 4. There is a smart TV and wifi. The living room leads onto a country kitchen with oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher and washer/dryer. There is a small table in the kitchen which seats up to 4 guests. To the rear of the cottage the charming courtyard garden with outside seating area enables guests to enjoy the sunshine on a warm day.
On the first floor is a light and airy double bedroom and bathroom. The second floor has a double bedroom with views towards Arundel Castle. Linen and towels are included and beds are made up for your visit.
Please be aware that Arundel cottages are notorious for quite steep stairs and this cottage is no exception…..and it also has slightly restricted head room right at the top of the second floor stairs. Therefore this cottage is not suitable for those with any sort of mobility issues and children under 12 are not allowed. No pets are allowed.
There is no private parking at the cottage but there are 1 hour parking spots directly opposite the cottage. For longer term parking there is a car park at the lido less than a minute’s walk from the house tucked away behind the houses opposite or if you prefer to park for free this can be done by parking on Mill Road beyond the castle.
There is so much to do in Arundel town itself that you will find that you don’t need a car unless you want to sightsee further afield. There is the majestic Arundel Castle to be explored as well as Arundel Cathedral, the museum, Arundel Lido, mini golf, tennis, bowls and river trips all within a 5 minute walk of Challenge Cottage. For those who enjoy shopping there are wonderful antique shops all over town and gift shops in both the High Street and Tarrant Street. There are an abundance of cafes and restaurants all within a few minutes’ walk and a fabulous deli and butcher just around the corner as well as a general provisions’ store a few doors down from the cottage.

Cute and cozy. It is located on a main street of Arundel so traffic noise was a bit of an issue for us sleeping.

Great central location yet very quiet. A lovely little cottage, nice and bright and plenty big enough for the pair of us.

This cottage made our stay in Arundel truly wonderful. Right in town so everything was on our doorstep. The kitchen was extremely well equipped which made it a home from home. Plenty of options for day trips too. We had a full week and could have easily stayed for another.

Very convenient for the pubs / restaurants and shops This is a cottage and although the rooms are quite large, the stairs, and especially the steps to the top floor are as narrow and steep as in parts of the nearby castle. However, if you are a bit more agile than us ( over 60,s) it is probably not an issue. Disabled access would be ill advised.
The beds, bathroom and especially the kitchen / dinning area are just superb. No allocated parking, but it is quite possible to enjoy this property and nearby Arundel by public transport. A lovely place to stay.

We had a lovely week in Arundel. The property was what we expected and had all we needed. The area is great, the castle is just down the road, the Lido is 50 yards away and it has lots of places to eat and drink. A little disappointed with the yard at the back which got the evening sun however the furniture was not in the best condition and could do with an upgrade so it wasn't used. We specifically wanted a washing machine which the property as we were traveling on from here. However the rotary washing line was lying on the floor with weeds growing through it and took some time to set ups and needed to be cleaned. Overall a nice week though

We loved being able to walk to everything, groceries, pubs, restaurants. Parking easy. Laura Lye the host couldn’t have been more accommodating.

Absolutely lovely 2 bed cottage right in the very centre of Arundel. Couldn't be better situated - right by the town centre and castle entrance and on the way to the train station if travelling by train - or for day trips to Chichester or Amberley. We had everything we needed, the cottage was beautifully decorated and Laura was really helpful with any questions. We had a brilliant trip and would really recommend Arundel and Challenge Cottage!

The cottage is in a really good location; just a 5 minute walk into the town centre. The whole process of renting was very good with excellent communication between myself and Laura. The cottage itself is extremely well equipped with lovely comfortable beds.
The stairs are step but this was not a problem for us.

Sweet little cottage which is well equipped and nice small courtyard garden. Stairs are steep and narrow. In the centre of Arundel so within east walking distance of shops and restaurants.

A sweet but small cottage. We were 4 adults, so it was a bit too small for a group like this. There is a small courtyard that we used every day. The cottage is near the city centre, so easy to walk everywhere. The Queen street is busy, and the cottage is hence not that quiet during mornings or daytime.
